No Greater Love

Galatians_2-20: I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me

Galatians_2-20: I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me

I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.

Galatians 2: 20

Romans_5-8: But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.

Romans_5-8: But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.

God loves us so much that He sent His son to die for us. There was and never will be a greater sacrifice than this.

Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends

Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends

Jesus didn’t die because we deserved it, but because He loved each one of us so much that He was willing to sacrifice Himself on our behalf. Romans 5:8 says, “But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”

John_10-10: The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.

John_10-10: The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.

Jesus Christ died on a cross so that you might have life and have it more abundantly (John 10:10). This was the ultimate sacrifice; someone dying so you might live.

The story of our salvation is made all the more powerful because it was a perfect man-God in human form-who died for the sins of us all.

Acts_4-12: Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.

Acts_4-12: Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.

Acts 4:12 says, “Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to men by which we must be saved.” Only through the sacrifice of God’s son are we saved and able to approach His presence.

President Muhammadu Buhari Of Nigeria And Vice President Yemi Osinbajo Have Declared Their Assets In Line With Provisions Of The Constitution Of The Federal Republic Of Nigeria

This was contained in a statement issued on Saturday by Buhari’s Head of Media Team, Garba Shehu.

The statement said that the Code of Conduct Bureau on Friday acknowledged the submission of the two leaders’ assets declaration forms.

The forms, the statement said, were submitted separately on May 28 and signed for by the organisation’s Chairman, Sam Saba.

It said: “President Buhari’s Declarant ID was given as: ‘President: 000001/2015′.

“The Nigerian Constitution states in Chapter VI Section 140, that a person elected to the office of President shall not begin to perform the functions of that office until he has declared his assets and liabilities as prescribed in the Constitution.”

By declaring their assets, the statement said that President Buhari and Vice President Osinbajo may have not only fulfilled the requirements of the Nigerian Constitution, but also fulfilled the first of their many campaign promises.

It noted that while seeking election into the highest office in the land, the President had promised Nigerians that he would publicly declare his assets as soon as he took over government.

Talking The Talk, But Not Walking The Walk. Human Sorrow Can Turn Into A Pity Party, But Godly Sorrow Brings Repentance, Which Results In Restoration

1-Peter_5-6: Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time:

1-Peter_5-6: Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time:

And he said unto him, Lord, I am ready to go with thee, both into prison, and to death. And he said, I tell thee, Peter, the cock shall not crow this day, before that thou shalt thrice deny that thou knowest me.

Luke 22:33-34

James_4-10: Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and he shall lift you up

James_4-10: Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and he shall lift you up

King David made some mistakes that caused much trouble for him and his family. Abraham missed God and brought problems into this world that we are still dealing with today! Then in the New Testament, we see Peter, the rock, Jesus’ right hand man, talking the talk, but not walking the walk! He said he would die for Jesus, but when a servant girl and two men questioned him, he denied Jesus three times, just as Jesus had foretold. If you read the Scriptures about Peter thoroughly, you will find out that Peter was a rough, honest, and proud man. When he said that he would die for Jesus, he meant it! However, when the pressure was on, he went back on his word; he didn’t stand for his faith, and he denied the One whom he loved. When Peter realized that he had missed it, he was devastated. The Bible says that Peter “went out and wept bitterly.”

Isaiah_53-4: Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted.

Isaiah_53-4: Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted.

You may have missed it, and you may be agonizing over your mistakes. Human sorrow can turn into a pity party, but Godly sorrow brings repentance, which results in restoration. Jesus restored Peter and he fulfilled God’s plan for his life. God will restore you as well. Stop agonizing over your mistakes; go to God, receive His forgiveness, and move on!

Prayer

Father, I put down my pride as I look to You for restoration. I will no longer agonize over my mistakes, but I will rejoice in Your mercy as I move forward, in Jesus’ name, Amen!

Do You Desire For Your Child To Prosper In Life?

Proverbs_22-6: Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it

Proverbs_22-6: Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it

Foolishness is bound in the heart of a child; but the rod of correction shall drive it far from him.”

Proverb 22:15

Beloved begin now to give your children spiritual food. Don’t say they cannot understand or I will wait until they are teenagers. Start now from day one because there is a way spiritual things get to them even though the full impact may not be seen immediately. In fact you should be able to speak the scriptures to a child you are carrying in your hands and even in your womb. They have a way of sensing what you say because it is spirit communicating with spirit. So don’t say it is too early. It is never too early to begin to give a taste of spiritual things to a child. When they are grown up and are ripe to make their own decisions they would have made up their minds on what they want in life.

Most times children do not know how to make decisions and so need to be helped in their decision making. The idea of leaving them alone to make important decisions will not help them. Remember the Bible says train up a child in the way he should go. That is, give him a taste of the things you want him to become. As children they find it difficult to say no and so they depend on you to say no for them. When they learn early that there are certain things they should accept and some they should not accept, they will know the right decision to make when it matters. You should also choose for them the kind of language they should speak because there are some things that should not proceed out of the mouth of a child. When you notice those unwholesome words which they pick up outside, say to them “No don’t speak like that because you are a prince, you are a king, you are better off than that.”

Psalms_1-3: And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper

Psalms_1-3: And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper

Don’t forget too to guide them in the kind of company they should keep. Psalms 1:1-3 says “Blessed is the man Who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly, Nor stands in the path of sinners, Nor sits in the seat of the scornful; But his delight is in the law of the LORD, And in His law he meditates day and night. He shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water that brings forth its fruit in its season, whose leaf also shall not wither; And whatever he does shall prosper.”  If you desire for your child to prosper, guide him in the company to keep. However you must make sure you don’t talk down on them or allow them to talk down on themselves because they are children of God. I declare to you today that your children are blessed and they will bring you joy always.

Discipline Of God. Prayer Point

Isaiah_64-8: But now, O LORD, thou art our father; we are the clay, and thou our potter; and we all are the work of thy hand

Isaiah_64-8: But now, O LORD, thou art our father; we are the clay, and thou our potter; and we all are the work of thy hand

Prayer:

Dear Father, I don’t like discipline. I didn’t like it as a kid and I don’t really like it as an adult. However, I do know that just as I disciplined my child because I love him, You discipline me because You love me. Help me to recognize Your discipline when it occurs, to receive it with a grateful heart, and change what needs to be changed, In Jesus Christ Name I pray, Amen!

Have you ever wanted something so badly your heart ached with each thought of it? So, Why Doesn’t God Give Us This Longing Of Our Heart?

Hebrews_11-6: But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him

Hebrews_11-6: But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him

“And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.” Hebrews 11:6 (NIV)

Hebrews_11-1: Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen

Hebrews_11-1: Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen

Have you ever wanted something so badly your heart ached with each thought of it? It seems life would be so much better if you had that.

There would be more happiness.

More contentment.

More fulfillment.

More satisfaction.

More peace.

We can envision ourselves with this thing, this person, this opportunity. And all things are better. So, why doesn’t God give us this longing of our heart?

Because He wants us to willingly release it to Him.

Ouch.

Not the answer we want. Why would God let the aching desire linger and not make things happen? He could. He’s certainly able. But when He doesn’t, it seems unfair. Not good. Confusing.

It’s easy to get down when we’re constantly let down.

We hope this thing will happen … we’ll meet this right person … we’ll get this job … we’ll finally be healed … we’ll get that chance … we’ll see that family member turn their life around. Time and again it doesn’t happen. That’s when it’s easy to slip.

We can so easily slip into feeling a little distant from God because we feel hurt by God.

That’s what happened when the woman I thought I was going to marry told me she met someone else. That’s what happened when I didn’t get the job I was so certain was going to be the answer to all my financial problems. That’s what happened when my son didn’t get into the charter school we were so certain would have been perfect for him.

But, in each of these things, I eventually had to make a choice. I could either be consumed with my unmet longing or trust the plans of our loving God.

As an offering of trust, we must give up that which could so easily bring us down.

Not give up as in a discouraged surrender. But giving up as in placing this desire in the hand of God and saying, “Either way, I will see Your answer as the good answer and walk in trust.”

The Scriptures and today’s key verse promise He rewards those who honestly seek Him: “And without faith is it impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him”(Hebrews 11:6).

Sometimes I get so consumed with seeking my unmet longings, I don’t earnestly seek Him. But then I miss out on His reward. And His reward is the only thing that will fill the void in my heart.

Yes, I still struggle with unmet desires.

But not as much today as I did yesterday.

And that is good. Not easy. But good.

Prayer:
Dear Lord, I sacrifice chasing what I want so I might more fully, and with more focus, chase You. I release this grip of desire. I praise You for who You are, what only You can bring, and how You will fill whatever gap this release might leave. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

1 Timothy 6:12, “Fight the good fight of the faith. Take hold of the eternal life to which you were called when you made your good confession in the presence of many witnesses.” (NIV)

Hebrews 12:1, “Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a huge crowd of witnesses to the life of faith, let us strip off every weight that slows us down, especially the sin that so easily trips us up. And let us run with endurance the race God has set before us.” (NLT)

We Need To Repent Of Our Sins. No Man Or Woman Can Come To The Kingdom Of God Proudly

2-Chronicles_7-14: If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land

2-Chronicles_7-14: If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land

There was a time when Christians would not dare to look at some of the things we are now seeing every day. We are gradually taking in the amusements and the pleasures until our spiritual life is being dulled and the Bible no longer has the glow to it. The time of prayer no longer has the desire that it used to have. You know that is true. We need to repent of our sins.

I am convinced that our nation is in peril. The handwriting is on the wall. The signs of the times are everywhere. People cannot long continue in their moral degeneracy. A cancer is eating at the heart and core of our way of life.

The Bible says that we are to humble ourselves. No man or woman can come to the kingdom of God proudly. You must come in humility.

The only prayer that you can pray if you have never come to Christ is, “God, be merciful to me a sinner” (Luke 18:13). Have you prayed that prayer?

I Love Going To The Jail. Like That’s Where I Really Feel God’s Pleasure. Introducing Gang Members To Jesus

Luke_19-10: For the Son of man is come to seek and to save that which was lost.

Luke_19-10: For the Son of man is come to seek and to save that which was lost.

Gang violence is increasing in the United States as activity spreads from inner cities to rural communities. While that may sound alarming, some in Washington state see it as an opportunity.

“I love going to the jail. Like that’s where I really feel God’s pleasure,” Hoke explained.

“They were on to what Jesus was doing very quickly. And I just liked them; they were just like my best theological conversation partners,” he continued. “They’d never provide churchy, dumb answers, and their language is full of profanity, but very honest.”

Hoke has served as a jail chaplain for 10 years. He found an authenticity in the jails that eluded him in church.

“I was soaked in biblical language growing up,” Hoke confessed. “I was a worship leader, but I wanted to find Jesus and touch Jesus, not just sing songs about it.”

Matthew_9-37: Then saith he unto his disciples, The harvest truly is plenteous, but the labourers are few

Matthew_9-37: Then saith he unto his disciples, The harvest truly is plenteous, but the labourers are few

And Hoke found what he was looking for with some of the most hardened criminals: gang members.

Looking at the beautiful Skagit Valley with its rolling hills and miles of farmland, it’s hard to imagine gang activity plagues the community.

“Gangs can happen in any community, anywhere,” Lt. Chris Cammock, with the Mount Vernon Police Department, told CBN News.

“In the early 90s, we saw our types of crimes changing. We saw them straying away from, say, property crimes to more violent crimes, like assaults, drive-by shootings, and things like that,” he said.

Cammock points out that Skagit County is on the I-5 corridor, running from Mexico to Canada.

“Some individuals are trying to leave the gang lifestyle, so they come here; some are branching out to do their criminal activities in areas that they’re not known for,” he explained.

Peer Pressure And Racism

Migrant workers who come here for seasonal work often stay. Their children can have a hard time fitting in.

“There was a lot of racism going on,” Jose Garcia, known as “Neaners,” recalled. “Like, kids used to make fun of me.”

“And so I think that’s kind of pushed me to, like, ‘Yo, I don’t want to mess with these guys; these are not the people that I want to be around,’ and I started hanging around with other crowds,” he said.

Neaners, a charming man in his early 30s, has gang tattoos covering his face and neck. He says he was just 8 years old when he started hanging out with members of one of the most violent gangs on the West Coast.

They gave him the name “Neaners,” a slang word for “baby.” Neaners was swept up by the gang lifestyle. He committed dozens of crimes, spending 20 of the next 25 years behind bars.

“I didn’t have no feeling; I just didn’t care; I’d get back out and be right back to doing the same thing,” Neaners recalled. “And everyone would be just like, ‘Man, that boy’s heartless.'”

Hard Love To Hardcore Bangers

Mark_8-36: For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?

Mark_8-36: For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?

Introducing gang members to Jesus might seem like a daunting task. But these lost sheep are uniquely equipped to hear the voice of their shepherd.

“They understand Jesus’ mode of operation, that Jesus had kind of like this grassroots posse, on the margins of Galilee, and He called people to follow Him,” Hoke explained.

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

“Gangs excel at gathering the marginalized, and the lonely,” he continued. “They knew how to find the lonely and the broken lives, men and women in this valley. And so they brought me to them.”

Hoke said he was never intimidated by the gang members.

“I just loved these guys; it just felt like a love adventure,” he explained. “We’d pray, and these guys would pour out their hearts, and this is the kind of friendship I’d always been looking for.”

An Unlikely Friendship

Hoke and Neaners grew close, exchanging hundreds of letters when Neaners was incarcerated. Neaners wrote of reaching out to the Lord from the depths of solitary confinement.

“I used to always yell at God, and stuff, just be like, ‘Yo, this is messed up; why You do this to me?'” he recalled. “Like all these things, and I didn’t know as I was doing that I was building a friendship with Him.”

“You know, He was actually seeing the real me, my inner heart, instead of this tough, macho guy that everybody else sees as, ‘Oh, this guy’s the gang leader, this guy’s this — ‘No, He seen something deeper. He seen the kid that was just yearning for His love, you know?” he said.

Hoke recalled, “When his heart started to change, and the relationship started going deeper, and he started having more hope, he said, ‘I want to meet my little girl. Can you help her come visit me?'”

A Second Chance

After months of red tape, Hoke drove 5-year-old Adelita four hours to meet her father. That kindness and self-sacrifice proved to be a breakthrough for Neaners.

He said he cried for the first time in 15 years.

As Hoke writes in his book, Wanted: A Spiritual Pursuit Through Jail, Among Outlaws, and Across Borders, “It was not misery that made (Neaners) crack and tear, but mercy. It is God’s kindness, Saint Paul wrote in a prison letter, that leads you to repentance.”

Three years later, Neaners walked out of prison for what he hopes will be the last time. He’s engaged to be married and helping to raise two daughters. CBN News visited the couple in his modest home, looking out over the valley.

“I’ve never been there for these girls who really need me, and I never had a father, so I’m going to be something that I’ve always wanted,”  Neaners marvelled. “I always thought I’d be a gangster my whole life, you know? Active, out there gang banging or locked up. I never thought it’d be this good.”

Gang activity in the Skagit Valley has decreased in recent years, well below the national average. Police attribute the drop to collaboration with the community.

They are especially encouraged when someone like Neaners turns his life around.

“I think when you have somebody that is at a more, a leadership or seen in the hierarchy of a gang as being towards the top, making a choice to leave, I think that sends a very big message within the gang subculture,” Lt. Cammock explained.

“To have someone try to believe in God is kind of hard,” Neaners admitted. “But to believe in someone like, ‘Yo, this dude’s doing it.’ And, you know, ‘Hey, we want what he’s got.’ And so I’m just trying to give a little hope with my life.”

I See Men As Trees, Walking. Perseverance In Prayer Is The Key To Overcoming Satan

2-Corinthians_2-14: Now thanks be unto God, which always causeth us to triumph in Christ, and maketh manifest the savour of his knowledge by us in every place

2-Corinthians_2-14: Now thanks be unto God, which always causeth us to triumph in Christ, and maketh manifest the savour of his knowledge by us in every place

Mark 8:24-25, “And he looked up, and said, I see men as trees, walking. After that he put his hands again upon his eyes, and made him look up: and he was restored, and saw every man clearly.”

MATTHEW 7:7-11; MARK 8:22-25

But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ

But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ

It was unusual for Jesus to inquire about the results of His ministry as He did in verse 23. It was even more unusual that Jesus laid hands on this man a second time. This is the only example in the New Testament where Jesus had to minister to any need more than once to affect a total healing.

Many people request things from God and then look at their circumstances to see if God answered their prayer. That is walking by sight and not by faith. If they can’t “see” God’s answer, then they pray again asking for the same thing. This is not the way Jesus taught us to pray and receive. We can be certain that Jesus didn’t lay hands on this man a second time because He thought His Father hadn’t heard Him the first the time. Since the man received partial sight, it is evident that God’s healing power was at work in him. Jesus was not petitioning His Father again for healing.

Through His spirit, Jesus knew that unbelief was hindering a perfect manifestation of God’s power in this man, and He simply gave him another “dose” of the anointing power of God. Satan may hinder, but cannot overcome someone who continues resisting him. Believe that you received when you prayed and continue to apply the power of God. Press in such a degree that you can confront anything that is contrary to what you have asked and overcome it. Perseverance in prayer is the key to overcoming Satan – not God.

O Lord Draw The Heart Of Our Country Back To You Alone

2-Chronicles_7-14: If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land

2-Chronicles_7-14: If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land

2 Chronicles 33

Hezekiah was a god-fearing king who brought about reformation among the Israelites. His son Manasseh, however, was an evil ruler. He had watched his father walk with God and live according to Scripture. Yet he chose to ignore the Lord.

Manasseh worshipped false gods, even to the point of sacrificing his sons by fire in order to praise Molech. He practiced much evil—including witchcraft and sorcery— and led Israel astray, thereby provoking God to anger. The king, along with the people, paid a high price for his rebellion.

This story illustrates the Lord’s intolerance of a nation’s disregard toward Him. Now consider our country. We, too, are a nation that pushes God aside—one that has turned away from the only true God and embraced idols. Perhaps these aren’t statues of stone, but we worship money, sports ability, fame, and reputation, to name a few.

Such nation like Nigeria and United States of America were founded on biblical principles with the intent to guarantee freedom of worship. But over time, we have removed the Lord from many aspects of public life. Prayer in schools, for instance, was deemed unconstitutional. What was once a “nation under God” has turned into a country that tolerates a growing number of sins and yet belittles absolute truth.

If a nation turns its back on the Lord, His judgment is inevitable unless the people repent and make Him Lord once again. As believers, our responsibility is to pray that God would draw the heart of our country back to Himself—and to help the gospel and truth spread through our land.

May God Bless Nigeria, America And Israel And Take Care Of Us; May God Make His Face Shine Upon Us, And Be Gracious To Us; May The Lord Lift Up His Countenance Upon Us, And Give Us Peace, In Jesus Christ Name, We Pray! Amen!

May The Grace The Lord Jesus Christ, And The Love Of God, And The Fellowship Of The Holy Spirit Be With You All. Amen!

I welcome you all to this occasion of the formal presentation of the Hand-over notes of my Administration to the in-coming Administration of the President-Elect, General Muhammadu Buhari.

  2. This event and tomorrow’s inauguration of a new administration are truly historic as it is the first time in the history of our nation that we are witnessing the democratic and orderly transfer of power at the Federal level from one political party to another.
  1. The Hand-over notes which we now present, contain the governance philosophy, strategies, policies, programmes and activities of my Administration for the period – 2011-2015. Also to be found in the notes are the objectives, targets and implementation strategies, achievements and challenges of our key policies, schemes, initiatives as well as the status of commitments and liabilities of the various MDAs.
  2. As we hand over the affairs of the nation, it is appropriate to recall that at inception, in May 2011, we committed ourselves to consolidating national unity through democratization and good governance. Our assessment then, and our firm belief ever since, is that the unity of Nigeria, the security, well-being, greater freedoms and opportunities for all citizens must remain the primary objectives of government.
  3. The Agenda for National Transformation which we did our best to implement consisted of clear and consistent governance strategies, policies, plans, programmes and projects, in all facets of our national life. Emphasis was placed on human and state security, democratization, sound economic management, as well as structural and institutional reforms.
  1. Our foremost concern was the unity of Nigeria. In keeping with that concern, we engineered a process that began with a review of issues outstanding from previous Constitutional Conferences by the Belgore Committee. After that, we widened political consultations through a National Dialogue that was orchestrated through the Okurounmu Committee. These culminated in the all-inclusive National Conference which unanimously reaffirmed that Nigeria must remain united and indivisible.
  1. The Conference also made resolutions and recommendations for serious constitutional, political and governance reforms, which we have forwarded to the National Assembly for appropriate legislative action. It is our hope that the incoming Government will accord the Report of the National Conference the very high priority that it deserves, as a genuine expression of the will of our people.
  1. The recognition that the starting point for good governance is the legitimacy of the government itself informed our commitment to promoting free and fair elections.
  2. It also motivated innovations in the management and conduct of elections which we undertook. Hopefully, in the years ahead, those innovations will be properly and fully implemented so that Nigerians will be even more assured of the integrity of the electoral system and the legitimacy of any government that it produces.
  1. To strengthen the social contract between the government and the governed, we institutionalized the rule of law as well as the independence of the legislature and the judiciary. We also promoted group and individual freedoms. As a result, there is vast expansion in democratic, social and economic space for all citizens.

11.Our nation and citizens faced many new challenges over the past four years but the greatest was the vastly increased menace of Boko Haram with their mindless terror, mass killings, utter ruthlessness, kidnapping of innocent children and other unspeakable acts of brutality.

  1. We should all remember that Boko Haram’s emergence predated our administration going as far back as 2002. The group however became extremely malignant with the killing of its leader, Mohammed Yusuf in July 2009.
  1. It therefore became an urgent task for us to effectively confront the great threat Boko Haram posed to the security and well-being of our people. To do so, we overhauled and virtually reinvented our security architecture to confront Boko Haram and its insurgency. We re-organized our security apparatus. We re-equipped and fully motivated our forces.
  1. Victory is now in sight and within our reach. However, the cost in blood of citizens and heroes; and the diversion of national treasure from urgent needs for development have been very high. While more than 500 women and children have been rescued from the clutches of Boko Haram thus far by our security forces, it remains my sincere hope and prayer that our beloved daughters from Chibok will soon be reunited with us.
  1. I wish to thank the Nigerian people for their resilience and patience. I also wish to pay very special and personal tribute to all the men and women of our valiant armed forces and security agencies. Their sacrifice and dedication have brought us thus far.
  2. While striving to overcome our national security challenges, we still gave necessary attention to economic development. Our goal was to achieve long-term economic growth and stability, improve the quality and quantum of infrastructure and enhance human capital development.
  1. Our financial system reforms included the Treasury Single Account [TSA] that unified the structure of government accounts for all MDAs and thereby brought order to cash flow management; and Government Integrated Financial Management Information System [GIFMIS] was introduced to plug leakages and waste of resources. The Integrated Payroll and Personnel Information System [IPPIS] weeded out 60,450 ghost workers in 359 out of 425 MDAs, yielding N185.4 billion in savings to the Federal government.
  2. Improved Revenue Mobilization was achieved through improvements in the laws and compliance measures. In 2013 alone, these measures resulted in a 69% rise in Federal tax revenues from N2.8 trillion to N4.8 trillion. Also, Waiver Policy and Trade Facilitation were reformed to create a more rational regime. Our emphasis shifted to granting waivers to specific sectors instead of individual companies and the Sovereign Wealth Fund was established to provide stabilization from external shocks, provide funding for critical infrastructure and savings for future generations.
  1. Our Financial Sector reforms addressed the issues of inefficiencies in the coordination and monitoring of the financial system. Our policies promoted transparency, better risk management, new banking models and payment systems. We established the Assets Management Corporation of Nigeria as a resolution mechanism for toxic banking assets. We strengthened banking supervision and enhanced public confidence in Nigerian Banks

.

  1. Similarly, we undertook innovative reforms for job creation and repositioned the manufacturing, agriculture and housing sectors. Specifically, it was observed that over the years, job creation did not keep pace with economic growth. Thus unemployment, especially amongst the youth was assuming alarming dimensions.
  1. To address this, my administration made job creation a key consideration for all programmes in the Transformation Agenda. Emphasis was also shifted towards empowering youths to become entrepreneurs rather than job seekers, through such initiatives as Youth Enterprise with Innovation in Nigeria (YOU-WIN), Graduate Internship Scheme (GIS), the SURE-P Technical Vocational Education and Training Programme (TVET) and the Youth Employment in Agriculture Programme (YEAP).
  1. Manufacturing in Nigeria faces many challenges, including poor power supply, high cost of input, high cost of doing business, multiple taxation, poor infrastructure and lack of synergy with the labour market. To address these problems, we launched several programmes and initiatives including the National Industrial Revolution Plan and a new National Automobile Policy designed to boost domestic car production and expand existing capacity. Since then, five new private vehicle assembly plants have been established.
  2. Agriculture is critical to national survival and yet the sector was besieged with many problems. By year 2010, Nigeria was the second largest importer of food in the world, spending about N1.3 trillion on the importation of fish, rice and sugar alone.
  1. The reforms we introduced in agriculture dramatically increased local production of staple food and saved us vast amounts of money that we would have spent on the importation of food items.
  1. To address the glaring inadequacy of critical national infrastructure, we focused on the Power Sector, Roads, Railways, Aviation, Ports and Harbours as well as on Water and Sanitation, Information and Communication Technology.
  1. My government introduced the Power Sector Roadmap in 2010. Since then, we have privatized the generation and distribution aspects in a most transparent process. Obstacles to the private sector investments in power supply were removed and we developed cost effective electricity tariff to make the sector more attractive. It remains our hope that the successor companies to PHCN and also the private sector will step forward with the necessary investment to make the power reform work.
  1. The major challenge in the road sector in Nigeria is the high cost of building roads and it continues to rise. The other challenge is the fact that because of regular use, roads are one of the fastest depreciating assets in developing countries.
  1. To address this, Government has developed the required legal and regulatory framework and created opportunities for Private Public Partnership (PPP) in road construction and maintenance.
  1. From Ore/Benin Road, Lagos/Ibadan Expressway to the Kano/Maiduguri dualisation projects, we made concerted efforts to address age-long problems of delays in construction, design defect, neglect and ineffective maintenance. The construction of the historic Second Niger Bridge has also commenced, and on completion, it will open new and far-reaching opportunities for greater trade and interaction among our people.
  1. In the Aviation Sector, our government developed a Master Plan to institutionalise safety and security, and to develop infrastructure at the airports and local airlines. We embarked on the reconstruction and rehabilitation of 22 airports nationwide. Construction work on five new international terminals in Lagos, Abuja, Port Harcourt, Kano and Enugu are also on-going.
  1. There has been a revolution in rail transportation. We rehabilitated the old narrow gauge network and ensured that it has served our people steadily for three years running with new coaches and improved expanded services nationwide.
  1. We are in the construction stages of a new national network for standard gauge speed-train services, with the new rail line segment, from Abuja to Kaduna, successfully completed. In addition, we have initiated the process for the construction of an ultramodern coastal rail line that will run from Lagos to Calabar, with a link to Onitsha.
  1. We have also successfully completed the dredging of River Niger, from Warri in Delta State to Baro in Niger State, and completed construction works for the Onitsha River Port. Other River Ports at Baro, Lokoja and Oguta, are at advanced construction stages. Working with the states and development partners, we have facilitated the process towards the development of two new deep sea ports at Lekki in Lagos, and Ibaka in Akwa Ibom. We have also implemented reforms to streamline the clearing regime in existing ports, increasing cargo turnover time and easing business for all users.
  1. In the oil and gas sector, our local content policy has continued to empower Nigerian companies, particularly in technical and engineering projects. The Gas Revolution Industrial Park in Delta State is unprecedented in the sub

- sector, and will not only deliver Africa’s biggest industrial park, but all the accompanying benefits to local industry and job creation.

  1. We recognized Human Capital as the most important agent for transformational development. Our reforms in this sector focused on Health, Education and Social Development and also on Women and Youth Empowerment and Social Safety Nets.
  1. In the Health sector, the comprehensive National Strategic Health Development Plan (NSHDP) of 2011 laid the foundation for widening access and improving the quality of healthcare with lower infant mortality rates and higher life expectancy for the populace. Our effective curtailment of the Ebola epidemic has continued to receive worldwide acclaim as an example in prompt and effective national disease management. On our watch, guinea-worm has been eradicated from Nigeria and we are on the verge of wiping out polio entirely.
  1. In the Education sector, our objectives are clear and precise. They emphasise expansion of access and the upgrade of quality. I am proud that we have widened access by establishing 18 more Federal Universities and other specialized polytechnics. We strengthened TETFUND and used it to boldly address the problems of inadequate infrastructure in the existing institutions.
  1. I am particularly proud of our efforts with regards to Early Childhood Education and Out-of-School Children. We provided modern hybrid Almajiri Education Programme in the North, attended to schooling needs of boys in the South-East and ensured the construction of special girls’ schools in 13 States of the Federation to improve girl-child education. We expanded opportunities for open and distance learning and provided scholarships at all levels to help improve access to quality education for bright and promising Nigerians.
  1. We have promoted gender-mainstreaming with commensurate priority and opportunities for our womenfolk, beginning with ensuring that not less than 30 per cent of key Federal appointments go to women. Other initiatives that we have taken include: the National Gender Policy, Establishment of Gender Units in Federal MDAs, Women Empowerment Training Programmes, Micro-Credit for Women, Social Safety Net Programmes and the Conditional Cash Transfer (CCT) Scheme.
  2. My Administration has emphasized giving a free hand to our Anti-corruption agencies such as the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and the Independent Corrupt Practices Commission (ICPC). We preferred that they mature into strong institutions instead of being the images, the hammer and the anvil of a strong man. We must encourage them to abide by the rule of law and due process instead of resorting to dramatic or illegal actions orchestrated for cheap applause

.

  1. Beyond the very impressive records of enhanced convictions by statutory anti-corruption agencies like the EFCC and ICPC, our other strategy has been to fashion economic policies that deliver higher deterrence and frustrate concealment. In this regard, the Bureau of Public Procurement has played a central role and impacted strongly on the fight against corruption.
  1. In Sports, we have improved our national performance in team and individual events. The disappointment of not qualifying to defend our African Football Championship was cushioned by a decent FIFA World Cup appearance, an Under-17 World Cup win in addition to other victories in other international football tournaments and the Paralympics. We have also encouraged excellence in other sports, apart from football, resulting in exceptional performance in international sporting events, especially in athletics.
  1. Our foreign policy position remains strong. In October 2013, Nigeria was elected as a non-permanent member of the United Nations Security Council for the second time on our watch. Our country had only served in that capacity thrice before 2011, since independence in 1960. Our Administration also played a leading role in the resolution of security and political challenges in our sub-region, particularly in Niger, Cote D’Ivoire, Mali, Guinea-Bissau and Burkina Faso.
  1. In addition, we increased engagement with Nigerians in the diaspora who contribute so much in remittances to their fatherland. Our Administration successfully encouraged more of them to invest in Nigeria and others to return home and join in the task of nation-building.
  1. In summary, Your Excellency, distinguished ladies and gentlemen, our administration has done its best to intervene robustly and impact positively on key aspects of our national life.
  1. There is no doubt that challenges still abound, but they are surmountable and overwhelming national transformation remains realisable, with continuity, commitment and consistency.
  1. Nigeria is blessed with citizens that will always remain faithful, firmly committed to national unity, accelerated political, social and economic development.
  1. As we hand over the reins of government, I believe that our nation is secure, our democracy is stable, and the future is bright. Let us all work together, and with greater resolve, continue to build a stronger and more prosperous nation.
  1. May God Almighty continue to bless our dear country, Nigeria.
  1. I thank you all.

Amen!

I Am Not Ashamed Of The Gospel Of Christ. Are You A Very Good Christian In The Midst Of Other Christians, But The Moment You Are In The Midst Of Your Unbelieving Friends, You Switch And Blend In?

Romans_1-16: For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek

Romans_1-16: For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek

For I am not ashamed of the Gospel (good news) of Christ, for it is God’s power working unto salvation [for deliverance from eternal death] to everyone who believes with a personal trust and a confident surrender and firm reliance, to the Jew first and also to the Greek.

Romans 1:16 (AMP)

Romans_10-17: So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God

Romans_10-17: So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God

It is a popular saying that ‘if you don’t stand for something, you fall for everything’, it takes a great level of conviction to stand up for something. The gospel of Christ is good news, its powerful and impactful, yet some are not bold enough to stand up for this good news. In a bid to be accepted, they drop their standards and compromise what they believe, many people struggle to stand up for who they are in Christ in their places of work, neighbourhood or schools, some tend to cover up their faith because they feel they will not be accepted. We need to come to the point that we declare our faith anywhere without being ashamed, carry our bibles anywhere and be able to speak for and about Christ.

Matthew_10-39: He that findeth his life shall lose it: and he that loseth his life for my sake shall find it

Matthew_10-39: He that findeth his life shall lose it: and he that loseth his life for my sake shall find it

Jesus Christ even told us that whoever is ashamed of Him here on earth (denies him), He will deny them in the presence of His Father. Matthew 10:33. Our faith is not what we put on and off as the situation calls for, some are very good Christians in the midst of other Christians, but the moment they are in the midst of their unbelieving friends, they switch and blend in.

Know that many around the world are being persecuted for their faith, if you are blessed enough to be in an area where you have freedom to exercise your faith, then you need to go all the way. Paul also wrote that “all who desire to live godly in Christ Jesus will be persecuted” (2 Timothy 3:12).

Matthew_5-44: But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you

Matthew_5-44: But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you

Many are persecuted by being ridiculed or mocked, others lose their jobs or experience financial hardships, and some are jailed, tortured, or even put to death.

Be fully convinced in your heart, don’t compromise, but stand strong for your Faith, stand up for the Gospel, its powerful enough to meet you at every point of your need.

Confession:

I am not ashamed of the gospel; I will stand up and stand tall for my faith in Christ. Hallelujah!

It’s not so important who starts the game but who finishes it.”

In The Book Of Life

Joshua_1-8 This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success

Joshua_1-8 This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success

As we pursue understanding the greatest Christian life, one thing we must dispel is that the greatest Christians were the most famous ones. Those who are most well-known on earth may be least known in heaven. Those who are the most highly esteemed in heaven may be little known on earth. Having great spiritual authority with men is not as high as having great authority with God.

Revelation_3-20: Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.

Revelation_3-20: Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.

Many of the great men and women of history who were at the forefront of great moves of God may have only been there because of those little-known ones behind the scenes praying. We will learn all of this on the great Judgment Day when the Book of Life are opened. The Book of Life are God’s history book—accurate records of human history and every human life. These are the books Jesus said we should rejoice that our names are written in. Making it into God’s history book is far better than making it into man’s.

Revelation_22-12: And, behold, I come quickly; and my reward is with me, to give every man according as his work shall be

Revelation_22-12: And, behold, I come quickly; and my reward is with me, to give every man according as his work shall be

How would our lives be different if we were focused more on being known by God rather than known by men? The Lord said many would come to Him on the Judgment Day boasting of how many great works they had done in His name, but He would say to them, “Depart” because He never knew them (see Matthew 7:22-23). Their problem was not that they did not know the Lord, but the Lord did not know them. How could that be?

Revelation_21-4: And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away

Revelation_21-4: And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away

The Greek word translated as “knew” does not mean He did not know who they were, but it is a deeper knowing such as between a husband and wife. Great Christian lives are not based on what we do as much as what we become. Are we becoming more like Him because we are getting closer to Him and are being changed by His glory?

The greatest Christian lives will be most like Christ. This happens as we draw near to Him, and as He promises, He draws near to us. We are changed by seeing His glory. As we see in the Gospels, the miracles and works of the Lord were often described as revealing His glory, so drawing near to Him includes being used by Him to do His works. Even so, the works are the fruit of our relationship, not just a matter of learning procedures, or being diligent.

A fruit tree bears fruit because it is a fruit tree. It does not strain or strive to produce fruit. Producing fruit is the result of what it is, not what it does. A good tree planted in good soil will produce good fruit. As we keep knowing the Lord and drawing closer to Him, the fruit will naturally come. As He said in John 15, if we are not bearing fruit, it is because we are not abiding in Him. The works of the Lord are not what we do for Him, but what we do with Him.

Processing Pains! Forgiveness

Luke_6-37: Judge not, and ye shall not be judged: condemn not, and ye shall not be condemned: forgive, and ye shall be forgiven

Luke_6-37: Judge not, and ye shall not be judged: condemn not, and ye shall not be condemned: forgive, and ye shall be forgiven

For if you forgive men when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. Matthew 6:14

1-John_1-9: If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness

1-John_1-9: If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness

When past injustices have caused you pain, you often seek to bury them in the deep recesses of your mind. It’s not the way to handle things, however, and almost always when you bury things, it allows your pain from the past to translate into mistakes and suffering in the future. You become powerless against the strength of your inner turmoil and can lose control of the very feelings you’ve tried to hide.

What do you do to distract yourself from unresolved pain? There may be strong emotions that you don’t know how to process appropriately, so you simply try to stuff them down inside. Eventually these feelings are expressed in one way or another. Be honest about your past hurts, express your feelings, confront when necessary, and work through forgiveness, it’s probably the most important thing to learn to do.

Nobody Like Jesus! Christians in Antioch

John_11-25: Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live

John_11-25: Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live

Many people have made  significant impacts on our world. But no one has had a greater effect than Jesus, whose birth, death, and resurrection have been transforming lives for 2,000 years.

John_14-6: Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me

John_14-6: Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me

Around the world, Christ’s name marks those who are His followers, going back to the earliest days of the church. “When [Barnabas] had found [Saul], he brought him to Antioch. So it was that for a whole year they assembled with the church and taught a great many people. And the disciples were first called Christians in Antioch” (Acts 11:26).

Acts_16-31: And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house

Acts_16-31: And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house

Those who bear Christ’s name identify with Him because we have been changed by His love and grace. We declare to the world that He has made an eternal difference in our lives and we long for that in the hearts of others too.

   Prayer:

Father, give me the grace and wisdom to honor You. May my life be so marked by the person of Christ that His great name—and salvation—will be embraced by others as well, Amen!

Followers of ChristChristians—are marked by His name.

You can make a difference.

As Arrows Are In The Hand Of A Mighty Man So Are Children Of The Mighty Man

Proverbs_22-6: Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it

Proverbs_22-6: Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it

“Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it”

 Proverb 22:6

Proverbs_10-22: The blessing of the LORD, it maketh rich, and he addeth no sorrow with it

Proverbs_10-22: The blessing of the LORD, it maketh rich, and he addeth no sorrow with it

The scripture says as arrows are in the hand of a mighty man so are children of the mighty man. But you know that an arrow cannot shoot itself but must be shot by somebody. Until an arrow is shot it cannot hit a target. The owner of an arrow is the one who sharpens it and directs it at the target he wants to hit. The scripture above says train up a child in the way he should go. This speaks of a two way responsibility between parents and children.

As a child you are expected to willingly submit yourself to your parents so that they can propel you as a mighty instrument to hit a target. It requires willing submission. In other words, no matter how intelligent or talented you may be, no matter how much the Lord has invested in you, no matter the purpose and design He has for you, you may end up not getting to your destination in life, if not properly directed. So, that places the responsibility on you to submit so that you can be properly directed.

Children are prone to a lot of things. And in this day and hour there are a lot of things begging for their attention. There are distractions here and there; technology distraction and peer pressure. If care is not taken, they will go in the wrong direction and end up becoming nobody in life. This is not because God has not planned something great for their lives but because they did not submit to the mighty man who is supposed to shoot them. One of the Hebrew translations of the sentence “train up a child” says it is not about bending of the will but to give the child a taste of what you want him to become. For instance when you want a child to love a particular kind of meal you have to keep feeding him that meal and when he grows up he will get used to it. Beloved, the time to start feeding your child with spiritual food is now while he is still a child and by the time he grows up, he would have become used to it. Don’t wait, start now.

Isaiah_60-1: Arise, shine; for thy light is come, and the glory of the LORD is risen upon thee

Isaiah_60-1: Arise, shine; for thy light is come, and the glory of the LORD is risen upon thee

Awake ye saints awake,

Salute this holy morn

With songs of joy and praise

In adoration fall

Come, bless the blessed Holy

day

The like of the rest, yet in heaven.

On this blest holy morn

The Lord rose from the dead

He broke the gates of death,

Triumphant over our foe

And now He pleads for us

above

Gathering the harvest of love,

All hail to Thee thou King!

Hosannas raise above,

The earth in humble voice

Joins in the glad refrain;

Worthy is the Lamb that was

slain

To live and reign for ever more.
