Child Of God, Stay Focussed On God. Don’t Act In Ignorance

Genesis_28-15-1: And, behold, I am with thee, and will keep thee in all places whither thou goest, and will bring thee again into this land; for I will not leave thee, until I have done that which I have spoken to thee of

Genesis_28-15-1: And, behold, I am with thee, and will keep thee in all places whither thou goest, and will bring thee again into this land; for I will not leave thee, until I have done that which I have spoken to thee of

“When thou passest through the waters, I will be with thee; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow thee: when thou walkest through the fire, thou shalt not be burned; neither shall the flame kindle upon thee.”

Isaiah 43:2.

Beloved, what I want you to put at the back of your mind is that God will always come through for His people. If He said it, He will do it. If you check the scriptures for His track record, you will discover those He came through for. He came through for Sarah and Abraham. He made a promise to them and twenty five years down the line, it seemed it will not happen but it eventually happened. They had occasion to doubt and to turn their back on God but they stood their ground.

He came through for Zachariah and Elizabeth who were serving God, committed and dedicated. The scripture is careful to tell us in Luke chapter one that these people were serving God faithfully and yet they had no child. They had grown old and there was no possibility of having a child. They didn’t turn their back on God or get angry at Him. But it was when they were in active service in the temple that the Lord came through for them. Let me ask you, when you are angry at God what can you do to Him? I make bold to tell you that whether you serve him or not, He still remains God. Love Him or not, He is still God.

The other day Job was trying to tell God all his qualifications and was saying based on that, he doesn’t see why he should suffer the things he was suffering. I feared you and eschewed evil but look at what has befallen me. Everything I had has been wiped out. How can you say that you love me and these things are happening? Job queried. When he was through with all his questions, in Job 39, God said Ok, it is time for me to ask you my own questions; because if you want to come to me by your merit I will prove to you that you will score something worse than a “fail“. To prove to you that you are zero, I am going to use the everyday things to talk to you. And God began to ask, “Do you know how a goat gives birth to a child? And God asked him several other questions and by the time He was through Job said I was stupid and I have acted in my ignorance. Child of God, stay focussed on God. Don’t act in ignorance. I assure you He will come through for you. I bless you in the name of the Lord.

Let Us Care For One Another.

“As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you. Now remain in my love.

Hebrews 13:1

Let brotherly love continue.”

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

1 Thessalonians.4:9

“But as touching brotherly love ye need not that I write unto you: for ye yourselves are taught of God to love one another”

Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends

Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends

INTRODUCTION:

All the children of God need to care for one another. This is what the Lord Jesus Christ expects from every one of us. By this shall all men know that we are His.

1 John 4:8

[He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love.]

1 John 4:18

[There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love ]

John 13:35

“By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another.”

HOW DO WE SHOW CARE, ONE FOR ANOTHER?

  1. By Praying For One And Another.

James.5:16

“Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.”

  1. By loving one another.

John 13:35

“By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another.”

  1. By Giving Good Things To One Another.

Matthew 6:3-8

  1. By Visiting One Another.

Matthew 25:34-40.

Then shall the King say unto them on his right hand, Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world: 35 For I was an hungred, and ye gave me meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me in: 36 Naked, and ye clothed me: I was sick, and ye visited me: I was in prison, and ye came unto me. 37 Then shall the righteous answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, and fed thee? or thirsty, and gave thee drink? 38 When saw we thee a stranger, and took thee in? or naked, and clothed thee? 39 Or when saw we thee sick, or in prison, and came unto thee? 40 And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me ”

  1. By Encouraging One Another To Stand In Faith.

Colossians 3:16

“Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.”

CONCLUSION:

It is the Lord’s command that we should love one another and care for one another. This is a sign that we are His true disciples.

Joy Of The Lord

Shoichi Yokoi was a Japanese soldier who fought in the Second World War. That war, of course, ended in 1945, but no one told Shoichi.

This Japanese soldier sensed the change in the war in 1944, when the Allied forces began to get the upper hand in the South Pacific combat. He sought refuge in a cave on the island of Guam. He was afraid that, if captured, he would be immediately executed by Allied Commandos.

28 years later Shoichi Yokoi was still living in that cave from which he emerged only in the dark of night. His diet consisted of creatures such as frogs and rats, along with nuts and mangos. By this time he’d figured out that the war must be over. He’d seen leaflets scattered through the jungle. Yet still he feared for his life and continued to hide.

John_8-32: And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.

John_8-32: And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.

Finally, he was found by two hunters who convinced the Japanese soldier that he was safe and they helped him emerge from hiding. Soon, he was free with better clothes to wear, a much more varied and appealing diet, and the comforts of home and friends. All advantages he might have enjoyed for most of the last three decades.

Sadly, too many Christians live like that old soldier, hiding in the darkness when they can live in all the joy and abundance that Christ offers us. A new kind of life really is available to those who know and seek God.

Do you know God’s joy? You cannot manufacture joy within yourself. It comes from God even in the midst of the challenges of real life. Today, seek God’s face, because joy only comes from an intimate relationship with him.

John 10:10; John 15:4-11; Phil. 3:1

Because God is a Personal Spirit, I will seek intimate fellowship with him.

Eyes Of Faith

Psalms_1-3: And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper

Psalms_1-3: And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper

Habakkuk 2:2 (KJV): “And the LORD answered me, and said, Write the vision, and make it plain upon tables, that he may run that readeth it.

Physical sight‘ is the ability to see things as they are…whereby ‘vision’ is the capacity to see things as they could be.

In our lives, we need to learn to live by vision and see things and life with the eyes of faith. We need to get vision from God; Make A Plan; Trust Him; And Speak That Vision Into Existence.

Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, that he will also reap

Romans_6-23: For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord

Romans_6-23: For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord

Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, that he will also reap.

Galatians 6:7, NKJV

Satan never mentions the consequences of sin. He never mentions the psychological trauma that follows an abortion. He never mentions the dirty feeling of being used after sleeping with your date that haunts your marriage relationship years later. He never mentions the panic and fear that grip you every time you answer the phone after cheating on your tax return. There are serious consequences to sin. Always. Without exception. Adam ate the forbidden fruit his wife had offered, “Then the eyes of both of them were opened, and they realized they were naked” (Gen. 3:7, NIV).

Satan had told Eve her eyes would be opened and she would be like God, knowing good and evil. In one sense he had been right. Eve’s eyes were opened, but in a grotesque way. She knew good, but also that she was separated from it. She knew evil because now she was saturated in it. She knew good and evil in a way God never intended her to know — through her own experience. And she was deeply ashamed.

How Not To Be Selfish

But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ

But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ

2 Corinthians 8:24

“Therefore show to them, and before the churches, the proof of your love and of our boasting on your behalf.”

NKJV

The world says ‘get, get, get‘ and you will find great contentment. It’s also been said that we live in a ‘dog eat dog world‘ where we need to look out for number one. I know people that have a lot but if they don’t share with others, they can be selfish and be really miserable. The reality is that selfishness leads to misery. The Bible and God want to teach us how not to be selfish. As you are blessed, part of experiencing all the blessings of the Lord is sharing them with others. When you receive something, you want to call someone or give part of it to them. Whether it’s sharing an incredible dish of food with them or blessing them with an extra ticket for a movie, we are blessed when we are generous. The moment you give to someone there is an immediate blessing in that – you can sense it, and you can feel it. God created a heart in us to share ourselves and be a blessing – to live generously.

You can be happy with less if you are being a blessing to others. No matter how much you have, you will be miserable with a lot when you are not a blessing to others. Jesus spent a lot of time teaching on the subject of money, knowing if you got this right; it would lead to more and more blessings. Get this one wrong and no matter what else you do, you will be miserable. You can be saved but if you are selfish, you will be unhappy.

You are created with an unquenchable desire to be a blessing to others.

Prayer:

Dear God,

Thank You for the blessings You have given me. Even this morning, I woke up with air in my lungs and my heart beating. Help me to have an attitude of gratitude for all that I have. Also, give me the strength and wisdom to live a generous life. Help me to be more like You. In Jesus Christ Name I pray, Amen.

What Christ Wants From You. God’s Goal

Matthew_28-19-3: Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost

Matthew_28-19-3: Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost

. . . teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age. (Matthew 28:20)

Matthew_9-37: Then saith he unto his disciples, The harvest truly is plenteous, but the labourers are few

Matthew_9-37: Then saith he unto his disciples, The harvest truly is plenteous, but the labourers are few

Being a disciple of Jesus Christ is a lot different than just going to church once or twice a week. To get excited because the preacher moved you and the choir inspired you is nice, but that’s not spiritual growth. To enjoy fellowship with your friends is a wonderful part of the Christian life, but it in and of itself is not discipleship.

John_13-35: By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another.

John_13-35: By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another.

The goal and the cornerstone of your activity, that which brings God the most glory, is for you to become a Disciple. God’s goal is not salvation; that is just the introduction to God’s goal. His desire is that those who are saved become disciples.

It is not enough simply to say: “I’m on my way to heaven.” The issue is, are you becoming like the One who is taking you to heaven? That’s discipleship, and that’s what Christ wants from you.

Discipleship is that developmental process that progressively brings Christians from Spiritual Infancy to Spiritual Maturity so that they are then able to reproduce the process with someone else. The singular, overarching goal of a disciple is to bring all of life under the lordship of Jesus Christ and then help someone else to do the same.

Notice that this brings discipleship around full circle. Disciples are to turn around and make other disciples. Ultimately, that’s how you fulfill the mandate of Matthew 28:18–20. Whether that be at home in your relationships, at work, in Church, through mentoring or volunteering at the local public school, or in a variety of ways—your life ought to be about discipling others to become more like Jesus Christ. That Is Your Highest Calling And Purpose.

Rather Than Complaining And Murmuring, Start Thanking God For Your Victory In Christ Jesus

Ephesians_5-20: Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ;

Ephesians_5-20: Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ;

“Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord”; Ephesians 5:19

The reason why God wants us to speak to ourselves in Psalms and hymns and spiritual songs is because when you begin to do so, it creates in you a positive mentality and motivates you to begin to give thanks because you already know the outcome. Rather than complain and murmur, you start thanking God because some how you will begin to see the picture of victory. David said the Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want; it’s a new day, I will not want because this is the day that the Lord has made, I will rejoice and be glad in it. reason it seems as if things are falling apart is because you are seeing the wrong picture; things always have two sides but the beautiful thing is that God’s own side will always be superimposed on the wrong side, when you lay hold on it. What you are saying about yourself is not a lie but the truth and the truth will always overrule the fact. Jesus who is the truth can’t fail. I challenge you therefore from today to wake every morning and create your world.

God is not a man that He should lie, has He said it and shall He not do it, has he spoken and shall He not bring it to pass? Every word that has been prophesied over your life for good, no matter how seemingly impossible they are, I declare that they shall come to pass. Beginning from today, every day of your life will give you a testimony. No one will take your song. God brought you out to bring you into the promised land. There is a “there” for you in God. The fact that you made a declaration yesterday and the day was the worst ever should not stop you from speaking into your world today. The word works, but you have to be consistent. The devil will want to paint a picture to you that the words you spoke yesterday did not come to pass, don’t listen to him, keep speaking because you will soon see the result.

My Father! Happy Father’s Day, Dad

Proverbs_22-6: Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it

Proverbs_22-6: Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it

My father taught me so many things, like how to ride my first bike. He gave me my first driving lesson and taught me how to play tennis, and study. He also taught me lessons that are harder to measure and put into words:

How to believe in myself,

Be happy and deal with life’s challenges.

Exodus_20-12: King James Bible Honour thy father and thy mother: that thy days may be long upon the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee

Exodus_20-12: King James Bible Honour thy father and thy mother: that thy days may be long upon the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee

  1. You Are What You Do, Not What You Say You’ll Do. Don’t be a big talker; let your actions speak for you. Don’t make empty promises and follow through on your words.
  1. If You Want To Achieve Greatness, Stop Asking For Permission. You have a special inner strength to live your life without constantly looking for the approval of those around you. You don’t need anyone else’s permission to achieve your dreams.
  1. Know How To Be Your Own Best Friend. Friends are crucial and close family connections are blessings, but there will be times in life when it seems like no one can understand you or give you the support you need. Sometimes you will need to help and encourage yourself. And that’s okay.
  1. Look In The Mirror. That’s Your Competition. Don’t compare yourself to others. Work on improving yourself. Be better than you were yesterday.
  1. It’s Not Going To Be Easy But It’s Going To Be Worth It. Work Hard. Overcome obstacles. Stay focused on your goals.
  1. If You Ever Find Yourself In The Wrong Story, Move. Don’t Stay In Situations That Aren’t Right For You. Don’t let your life become a place where you aren’t happy. Stay away from negative people and unhealthy environments. Be proactive. Write your own story.

Thank you, Dad for all that you have taught me and continue to teach me each day. Happy Father’s Day!

Be Careful Little Lips What You Say

Proverbs_21-23: Whoso keepeth his mouth and his tongue keepeth his soul from troubles

Proverbs_21-23: Whoso keepeth his mouth and his tongue keepeth his soul from troubles

In the multitude of words, sin is not lacking, but he who restrains his lips is wise.

Proverbs 10:19

This verse is clear and to the point, and could be used as a filter before we open our mouths.

If you often find yourself “in a multitude of words,” do a quick check to be sure you are pleasing the Father in what you are saying.  If your words are untruthful, mean spirited, or damaging to someone else, then the second part of this verse should be implemented – restraint.  If you have to question whether or not you should say it, then you probably shouldn’t. If you have to ask forgiveness after you say it, then you should probably keep it to yourself.

It reminds me of a song I learned in Sunday School. “Oh be careful little lips what you say. For the Father up above is looking down in love, so be careful little lips what you say.”

As my Dad always said, “When in doubt…don’t!”
