God doesn’t want us to live in fear of others. As a believer, you can defeat fear!

Psalms_23-4-1: Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.

“Do not be afraid of them. Remember the Lord, who is great and awesome….”

—Nehemiah 4:14

Few emotions are as powerful as fear. It can cause us to do things we wouldn’t do under normal circumstances, and it can keep us from doing things we ought to do.

Nehemiah and his fellow wall builders in Jerusalem were being threatened with death. Talk about something to fill you with fear! A death threat would certainly get my attention.

2-Timothy_1-7-1: For God has not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind

But God doesn’t want us to live in fear of others, because He knows it can hinder us from His work. 2 Timothy 1:7 tells us that “God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power.” What this means for you is that feelings of fear aren’t from God, they’re from Satan. Which means as a believer, you can defeat fear!

And Nehemiah gives us the key to combating fear in the verse above: “Remember the Lord.”

When you’re feeling afraid, REMEMBER THE LORD. Remember His faithfulness. Remember His goodness. Remember that He’s your shield and protector. Remember today that the God we serve is great and awesome, and He will not let you down!

Message

When your day of favour dawns, favour will locate you wherever you are. Sometime ago, we went to hold a crusade in Italy. While we were preaching, the message was being aired over the radio. Suddenly, the Lord said that there was a man listening to me via the radio who was impotent. The Lord asked me to tell the fellow that his virility was restored. Meanwhile, the man in question was lying on his bed in his house, far away from where we were. As soon as he heard the word, his manhood was restored. Favour located him at home.

By the time he tried to locate us at the crusade ground, we had closed and left for the hotel where we were staying. When he got to the hotel, he burst into our room saying he was the one whose case was addressed, and that he had received his miracle. This season, favour will locate you right where you are. Right in your home, in your living room, on your bed, favour will visit you in Jesus’ Name.

Favour can always locate you, even from a distance. After Moses had spent about forty years in exile in Midian, God sent favour to locate him at the backside of the desert, in the form of an angel manifested as a burning bush which was not consumed. I also have experienced God’s favour in a foreign land. The first time I travelled outside Africa, I went to Canada for the World Conference of Applied Mathematicians. I knew no one there and had no idea what kind of food I would be eating there. Meanwhile, my wife was at home praying that God should take care of me. At about that same time, someone was looking through the list of mathematicians who had come for the conference.

As he checked, he saw my name, Enoch Adeboye. He mused that it could be a French name, even though he had every reason to believe it is a Nigerian name. He decided to check up on me. On his way to my hotel room, this man resolved to speak to me in Yoruba language; he said to himself that if I replied, then I must be a Nigerian. He eventually got to my door and knocked. “Who is it?” I asked. “Emi ni (I am the one)” he replied. “Wole (come in)”, I responded. Before that day was over, I was eating pounded yam right there in Canada. Favour can locate you outside the shores of your land. God can use somebody you do not know to favour you. Are you away from home right now and in need of favour? God will cause favour to locate you! Someone you do not know will favour you today in Jesus’ Name.

Prayer Point:

Father, let Your favour locate me today from the four corners of the earth.

God’s grace is sufficient for me

Ephesians_2-8: For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:

2 Corinthians 12:9 (NKJV):

“And He said to me, ‘My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.’ Therefore most gladly I will rather boast in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.”

2-Corinthians_12-9: And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me

God will never leave us, He will never forsake us, nor will He ever fail us. Sometimes at the face of trials, when we don’t know what to do or even what exactly to pray into, all we need to do is to rest in the assurance that God’s strength and wisdom is made perfect and revealed into our lives in our weakness. Today, walk confidently as you remember these words: ‘His grace is sufficient for me’.

Let your words uplift, encourage, inspire, soothe and build. Be courteous, respectful and civil in your relationship with others

John_13-34: A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another.

Let your speech at all times be gracious (pleasant and winsome), seasoned (as it were) with salt, (so that you may never be at a loss) to know how you ought to answer anyone (who puts a question to you)

Colossians 4:6 AMP

For many in our country, acting in a polite and civil manner, after being exposed to protracted years of military rule is something to learn. Many are yet to learn the importance of the words “Please,” “Excuse me” and “Thank you” in their communication with others. They are of the erroneous belief that being polite is a sign of weakness in one’s character, but that’s not true. Rather, being polite is something that reveals the strength of character.

In James 3:13-14, the Bible says, “Who is a wise man and endued with knowledge among you? Let him shew out of a good conversation his work with meekness of wisdom. But if ye have bitter envying and strife in your hearts, glory not, and lie not against the truth.” In essence, when you use the right words to address others, you’re actually displaying the wisdom of God that’s in you. But bitterness in the heart of man will produce harsh words and abusive communication.

Matthew_5-44: But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you

So, in relating with those around you, don’t use bitter, harsh or abusive words. Let your words reflect the presence of the Spirit of God that lives in you. Colossians 4:6 says, “Be gracious in your speech. The goal is to bring out the best in others in a conversation, not put them down or cut them out” (MSG). Let your words uplift, encourage, inspire, soothe and build. Don’t allow communication that could inflict pain or stir strife or discord out of your lips.

See others with the eyes of God and address them that way. Be humble in your communication (James 4:6). Don’t use hurtful words to address people and don’t raise your voice against them. Be courteous, respectful and civil in your relationship with others.

Confession:

Dear Heavenly Father! I thank You for teaching me the importance of gracious communication that brings out the best in others! I reveal the excellence of the Spirit of God in my character today and always by choosing to be polite to those around me, eschewing hurtful and uncivil language, in Jesus Christ Name, Amen!

In serving others, whatever a man sows, he will also reap

Hebrews_11-6: But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him

Then shall he answer them, saying. Verily I say unto you, inasmuch as ye did it not to one of the least of these, ye did it not to me

Matthew 25:45

Galatians_5-13: For, brethren, ye have been called unto liberty; only use not liberty for an occasion to the flesh, but by love serve one another.

In your pursuit to render service, you should be excellent in your delivery, being conscious of the Lord’s instruction in our opening scripture. Whatever you do for others to make their lives easier and more comfortable is unto the Lord. Therefore, it’s a great disservice to other citizens and the nation as a whole when your acts of service which should benefit them are rendered shabbily.

Understand that you’re part of a nation, and whatever service you render in politics, public service or in the private sector, to bring succor to others is a seed sown. Galatians 6:7 tells us, “Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.” It’s like the story of a man who entrusted his son-in-law to execute a building project he had sufficiently financed. On completion, he execitedly asked the son-in-law if the house was top notch. “O, yes it is! We used the best materials and employed the best labour for the project,” answered the son-in-law. He then presented the house keys to his father-in-law, who received them and lovingly presented them back to him saying, “Take, the house is actually my gift to you!”

Surprisingly, rather than being ecstatic with joy, the young man’s countenance dropped. Bemused at his downcast and crestfallen son-in-law, the man asked, “What’s the matter? Don’t you like the house?” The young man, in his pitiful state then narrated to his father-in-la how he had used inferior and substandard labour to build the house. It wasn’t such a good house as he had claimed. He discovered to his regret that all the while he was building the house, he was actually building it for himself, and had cheated himself.

When you’re assigned to execute a task or project, do it excellently, whether or not you’re being monitored. This is because in serving others, you’re directly or indirectly improving your life. Never let inordinate passion to amass wealth propel you to render questionable service that’ll endanger the lives of others, or make the nation run a loss. Who knows, the victim of that collapsed building, fake drugs, bad roads etc, might just be a relative, loved one or the fellow who should save your life or that of your offspring in future. Whatever task or assignments you’ve set yourself to carry out, do it well, for at the end you’ll discover you did it for yourself.

Prayer

Dear Heavenly Father! I thank You for the opportunity to serve people. I carry out my responsibilities with excellence, virtue, timeliness and precision, having in mind tht every service I render is a seed sown and therefore my harvest is inevitable, in Jesus’s Christ Name, Amen!

Love endures long! Let the love of God arrest you

Ephesians_5-2-2: And walk in love, as Christ also hath loved us, and hath given himself for us an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweet smelling savour

Love endures long…..it is not conceited (arrogant and inflated with pride); it is not rude (unmannerly) (and) does not act unbecomingly……(1 Corinthians 13:4-5 AMP)

1-John_4-12: No man hath seen God at any time. If we love one another, God dwelleth in us, and his love is perfected in us.

When you get to know our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, you will become more humble. When men speak in pride and arrogance, that’s proof – positive that Christ has not been manifested to them; they’re not yet acquainted with Him. For the more you know Him, the more humble you become.

The Bible says, “For I say, through the grace given unto me, to every man that is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think soberly, according as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith” (Romans 12:3)

Some people think of themselves more highly than they should, such that they refuse to honour or recognize even those who are actually senior to them. You need to respect others for who they are for that’s the way of love.

There’re some who got offended because they were rebuked and corrected in the house of God; that’s arrogance. There’re some others, who as far they’re concerned, are bigger than everyone, and even find it difficult to greet and show respect to elderly. That’s not Christianity!

Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends

An arrogant person, no matter how hard he or she tries, will never go far in life. The Bible says “ For whosoever exalteth himself shall be abased; and he that humbleth himself shall be exalted” (Luke 14:11). Refuse to be rude, arrogant or proud. God resists the proud and arrogant man, and gives grace to the humble. Some people just don’t know why they can’t seem to move forward and make progress in their lives; it’s because their heart are inflated with pride.

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

Let the love of God arrest you! Refuse to allow pride or arrogance any place in your life. Learn to be humble. Never treat others with disdain, for love celebrates and honours others, it’s not rude, arrogant or inflated with pride.

Prayer:

Dear Heavenly Father! I thank You for giving me a heart that loves, honours and celebrates those around me. I ask that You guard my heart against pride and arrogance as I manifest Your love to everyone in my sphere of contact today, in Jesus Christ Name! Amen!

Enjoy your liberty in Christ Jesus!

Galatians_5-1-1: Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage

And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.

John 8:32

John_8-32: And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.

Some people believe they have to do something extraordinary before they can be delivered from sin. Jesus said, “If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed” (John 8:36).

It’s a tragedy to believe you need deliverance after you’ve received Jesus as your Lord and Saviour. Those who are born again and still believe this are in bondage. Until you recognize that you received God’s nature the moment you were born again, the purpose of the sacrifice of Jesus can never become a reality in your life. This is why some people find it very difficult to forgive or accept forgiveness for they’re always thinking that sin is their problem.

2-Chronicles_7-14: If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land

The knowledge of the truth is the key to freedom, and the truth is the Word of God. Through the Word you’ll get to know about your new nature in Christ Jesus, your relationship with God and His Kingdom. Then your life will be full of righteousness, peace and joy, for that’s what the kingdom is about (Romans 14:17).

When you allow God’s Word gain ascendancy in your life, you’ll begin to live the God-Kind of life in true liberty; God’s truth doesn’t give room for bondage, it liberates! You don’t need to struggle or pay for your sins, it’s unnecessary. Jesus has settled everything on the cross, that’s why He said, “It is finished” the battle has been won. You don’t need to fight for salvation. Let God’s Word dominate you. You have been set free. Enjoy your liberty now!

Hebrews_12-2: Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God

Confession:

God’s Word has come to stay in my heart. Therefore, I walk in the consciousness of the liberty I have in Christ Jesus! I refuse to walk in darkness. My mind is renewed daily by the Word of God. I am born again and free from all darkness in Jesus Christ Name, Amen!
