Scholarship Description

The David Oyedepo Foundation scholarship program is the major platform for promoting the vision and goals of the David Oyedepo Foundation, DOF.

The scholarship program awards scholarships to qualified individuals who are indigenes and residents of African countries, and have been offered admission to specific universities in Nigeria.

The scholarship program can essentially be divided into 3 categories:

1). DOF Scholars;
2). DOF Leadership Scholars; and
3). DOF Farmers Scholars.

The DOF scholars program grants individuals the opportunity to acquire a first degree at top schools in the African continent. It grants individuals the opportunity to build up the leadership potentials that are so evidently lacking in the leaders of our today’s society, through the yearly programs and community development initiatives.

Eligibility

In order to apply for any of the three scholarship programs, you must:

Be a Citizen of any African Country
Resident of an African Nation
Between the ages of 18 and 25

Each scholarship awardee becomes a David Oyedepo Foundation Scholar (DOF scholar) and is expected to meet up with the requirements each year for maintaining the scholarship program.

Participating Institutions

Scholarship is available for pursuing undergraduate program at the following universities:
Covenant University, and
Landmark University

Fields of study

Candidates can apply to their choice course of study. However, special consideration would be given to candidates whose courses fall under the following categories:

Agriculture and allied courses
Medicine
Para Medical science
Political science
Education and allied courses

Number of awards

Not specified

Sponsorship duration

All applicants are awarded full scholarship for the duration of their study; however a yearly review of scholarship is carried out every year to ensure candidate remains worthy of scholarship award.

Each scholarship awardees:

Must maintain a continuous standard of excellence as measured by the David Oyedepo Foundation.
Carry out a yearly summer community project that fulfil the following criteria:

Must be focused on community development

Must be a community based project

Must engage a volunteer base of class and schoolmates

Must engage knowledge in current field of study

A video & document report of the project must be generated and submitted to the foundation at the end of every school year.

The school will be required to generate and send the foundation a semester by semester report of academic progress.

Scholarship benefits

The scholarship program covers all study and travel expenses for the duration of the course of study.

Method of Application

The DOF Scholars are between the ages of 18-25. They are either

Recipients of the university or secondary school scholarship programs, or

Fresh graduates who are applying for post graduate study scholarship

Covenant University is located in Ota, Ogun State in Nigeria. It is a Private Christian University and a member of the Association of Commonwealth Universities.

Landmark University is located in Omu-Aran, Kwara State in Nigeria. It is a Private Christian University, and has colleges with state of the art facilities in place. Colleges include: College of Agricultural Sciences, College of Business and Social Sciences, and College of Science and Engineering.

I Will Be With You! Says The Lord

I have blotted out, as a thick cloud, thy transgressions, and, as a cloud, thy sins: return unto me; for I have redeemed thee.

When you pass through the waters, I will be with you.

Isaiah 43:2, NIV

Have your thoughts been similar to these?

God, where have You been?

Why did You let this happen?

I just don’t understand.

Are you overlooking the fact that Jesus has drawn near to you?

Are you blinded to His presence by your own tears?

Are you deafened to His gentle voice by your own accusations?

While God doesn’t always protect those He loves from suffering or answer our prayers the way we ask Him to, He does promise in His Word that He will be present with us in the midst of our suffering and pain. He said, “Fear not. . . . When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you. . . . For I am the Lord, your God . . . your Savior; . . . you are precious and honored in my sight, and . . . I love you” (Isa. 43:1-4, NIV).

If We Confess Our Sins

1-John_1-9: If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness

That you may know that the Son of Man has power on earth to forgive sins.

Matthew 9:6, NKJV

Only God in Christ has the power to forgive sin. But you and I must confess it to Him personally, specifically, and honestly if we want to receive forgiveness. God promises, “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness” (1 John 1:9, NIV). That word confess means to call sin by the same names that God does, to agree with God about your sin.

You and I often play games with the names we call sin to make it seem less like sin. For example, we call the sin of unbelief, worry. We call the sin of lying, exaggeration. We call the sin of fornication, safe sex.

As long as we switch the labels on sin to make it seem less serious, we’re being dishonest with ourselves and with God, and we remain unforgiven. But, if we say the same thing about our sin that God says-if we say, “God, it’s lying. It’s jealousy. It’s lust. It’s revenge. It’s hate. It’s adultery. It’s unforgiveness”-God will forgive us! So start naming your sin for what it is in God’s eyes.

God Is Faithful To Me

Psalms_89-1-2: I will sing of the mercies of the LORD for ever: with my mouth will I make known thy faithfulness to all generations

His compassions fail not. They are new every morning; great is Your faithfulness.

Lamentations 3:22-23, NKJV

Three hundred and seventy-one days after the Flood began, “God said to Noah, ‘Come out of the ark, you and your wife and your sons and their wives'” (Gen. 8:15, NIV). We can almost hear the “Hallelujah Chorus” playing in the background! What a day of rejoicing that must have been! God had been faithful to see him through!

God has not changed. If He was faithful to watch over Noah and all those within the ark, bringing them safely through the storm, He will do the same for you. Just as He was faithful to preserve Joseph through thirteen years of slavery in Potiphar’s house and Pharaoh’s prison, just as He was faithful to preserve the little baby Moses floating on the Nile . . . God will be faithful to you. Why? Because God is faithful! He cannot be less than Himself! Keep your focus on God’s faithfulness and on God’s greatness!

Praise Drives The Enemy Away

Psalms_100-4: Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise: be thankful unto him, and bless his name.

I will declare Your name to My brethren; in the midst of the assembly I will praise You.

Psalm 22:22, NKJV

One way to drive Satan to distraction, and to overcome him, is through praise of Jesus. Regardless of whether the enemy is a visible foe in front of us like the Scribes and Pharisees or an invisible foe outside of us like the devil himself or an invisible foe inside of us like depression, praise drives the enemy away. In the very prophecy that describes Jesus’ inmost thoughts and feelings as He hung on the cross, tortured, bleeding, and dying, the psalmist declared, “But You are holy, enthroned in the praises . . .” of Your people (Ps. 22:3, NKJV). In other words, He is enthroned-He rules in power, authority, and supremacy-through our praise.

In some supernatural way, praise ushers the authority of God into any given situation. One practical way to maintain your praise is, every time you pray, to begin your prayer with praise. First praise God for Who He is. Then praise Him for something He has done for you. Start now!

Jesus defined our meaning for existence when He prayed, “Now this is eternal life: that they may know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent.” Knowing God in a personal and permanent relationship is the ultimate human experience. Knowing God is the meaning of human life. It is the reason for our existence. It was the completion of all the changes God made in the environment in the beginning. And it is the completion of all the changes God is making in your life at the present.

Do You Long To Have A Closer Relationship With God, But You Don’t Feel Worthy?

That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.

You received the Spirit of sonship. And by him we cry, “Abba,” Father.

Romans 8:15, NIV

What makes you and I think we can do without a personal prayer life? It’s through prayer that we come into a personal, intimate relationship with our heavenly Father.

Do you long to have a closer relationship with God, but you don’t feel worthy? Are you convinced you are a nobody and therefore would never be accepted, much less welcomed, into His presence?

Praise God! Our entrance into His presence is not based on our own worthiness but on the worthiness of Jesus Christ! When we enter God’s presence in Jesus’ name, we are as accepted by God as Jesus is, because God counts us as His own dear children!

Jesus invites you and I, in His name, to come into His Father’s presence through prayer, crawl up into His lap by faith, put our head on His shoulder of strength, feel His loving arms of protection around us, call Him “Abba” Daddy, and pour out our hearts to Him.

What Is Hindering You From Being Filled With The Holy Spirit?

Matthew_5-6: Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled

Do not get drunk on wine, which leads to debauchery. Instead, be filled with the Spirit
Ephesians 5:18, NIV

God has clearly commanded you and me to “be filled with the Spirit.” But an unconfessed sin or resistance to His authority will block the “flow” of His life within us. If we do not deal with it, our spiritual lives become stagnant and we lose our attractiveness and usefulness to God. And we have nothing refreshing about us that would draw other people to Christ.

What is hindering you from being filled with the Holy Spirit? To be filled with the Holy Spirit is to be under His moment-by-moment control. He has not been given to you so that you can keep Him confined to a particular area in your life. Let Him loose! He is Lord! The amount of power you experience to live a victorious, triumphant Christian life is directly proportional to the freedom you give the Spirit to be Lord of your life!

No Sin On My Conscience

Hebrews_4-16: Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need. .God’s Throne Of Grace

Hebrews 10:22
Let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water.

I would like you to imagine this scenario: You borrow a huge sum of money from a friend and promise to pay him back in six months’ time. When the time comes, you feel really bad because you cannot repay him as you don’t have the money. A year rolls by without you repaying a cent. Now, you feel extremely guilty. You try to avoid your friend because you are too embarrassed and ashamed to see him.

Let’s say that your best friend hears about your plight. Out of the goodness of his heart, he goes to your creditor and says, “Look, I understand that my best friend owes you money.”

“Yes, he owes me N50,000.”

“Here is N100,000. I am paying you on his behalf.”

Your creditor says, “No, no, no! He owes me only N50,000.”

Your best friend says, “I know. But take the N100,000 so that you can never say that he still owes you money.”

Now, your debt has been paid, in fact, more than paid. But if you don’t know or believe this, that debt will still be on your conscience. You will still be afraid to see your creditor. And you will avoid him because he reminds you of your debt.

My friend, you need to know that Jesus was an overpayment when He offered Himself as your sin offering, because of the quality and worth of the Man Himself. My friend, He overpaid for your sins when He became your sacrifice on the cross.

But if you don’t know or believe this, you will suffer as your unbelief will rob you of assurance, joy and peace. You will still have debt on your conscience. Even though God is not imputing sin to you (Romans 4:8), sin is still on your conscience. And as long as sin is on your conscience, you won’t dare to draw near to Him.

Beloved, the truth is that your sins have been more than paid for. Jesus was an overpayment. So draw near to God today with no sin on your conscience!

God’s Gift

Matthew_5-6: Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled

Romans 14:17
17… the kingdom of God is not eating and drinking, but righteousness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit.

If we are supposed to seek first the kingdom of God every day (Matthew 6:33), then we should know what the kingdom of God is in the first place. I used to think that the kingdom of God was the mission fields and that to seek it meant doing missionary work.

Then, I realized that the kingdom of God was not something outside you flowing in — “the kingdom of God is not eating and drinking”, but something inside you flowing out — “righteousness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit”.

So to seek first God’s kingdom means to make it a priority every day to have your inner man flowing with righteousness, peace and joy in the Holy Spirit.

Righteousness is not your own righteousness based on what you do. It is not good works. It is a gift from Jesus who is your righteousness. (Romans 5:17; 1 Corinthians 1:30) God wants you to be established in the truth that you are the righteousness of God in Christ. (2 Corinthians 5:21)

“Peace be with you” were the words that Jesus spoke to His disciples when He appeared before them after His resurrection. He also showed them His pierced hands and side. (John 20:19–20) God wants you to know that His Son’s finished work has given you peace. Your conscience can be at rest because your sin debt has been settled. You have peace with God and the peace of God.

Joy will come into your heart when you see Jesus in the scriptures, worship songs or anointed preaching. It is the same joy from the Holy Spirit which filled the disciples’ hearts when they saw Jesus, His hands and His side. (John 20:20)

So every day, make it a priority to see yourself righteous in Christ. Don’t be conscious of your sins. Instead, be conscious of your righteousness. Nothing Could Be Greater Than God’s Love For Me

Jeremiah_32-17-2: Ah Lord GOD! behold, thou hast made the heaven and the earth by thy great power and stretched out arm, and there is nothing too hard for thee:

Romans 8:35
35Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword?

Pastor John, used to suffer from certain health problems before he became a Christian. His doctor told him that he had to be on medication for life. He also had a huge financial debt. But when he caught hold of the teaching that he is God’s beloved, he believed it totally. He also believed that nothing could be greater than God’s love for him.

Today, Pastor John is off medication and completely delivered from that debt. God caused him to triumph over his sickness and debt because he cannot be defeated when he knows that he is God’s beloved.

Tribulation, distress or persecution cannot stop your heavenly Father’s love from working on your behalf. His love for you is bigger and stronger than your financial woes, marital problems or health concerns. And when God’s heart of love moves for His beloved, He opens doors that no one can shut and He makes a way when there seems to be none.

Even during lean times, you will never find the righteous forsaken. King David said, “I have been young, and now am old; yet I have not seen the righteous forsaken, nor his descendants begging bread.” (Psalm 37:25) Can famine or recession stop God’s love from providing for His beloved? No! So don’t think to yourself, “I must provide for my family. If I don’t, who is going to take care of them? How are they going to survive?” God wants you to know that His love will continue to provide abundantly for you and your family.

What about deadly pestilences such as bird flu, Lassa fever and mad cow disease, natural disasters such as tsunamis and earthquakes, or terrorist bombings? My friend, these things cannot devour you because His love protects you. You will enjoy His protection when you know that you are His beloved.

Because God’s love is greater than all the evil put together, we are more than conquerors through Christ who loved us. (Romans 8:37) We always win in the fight of life not because of our love for Him, but because of His love for us!

Based On Your Reaction To The Storms Of Life, Which Are You? A Turkey Or An Eagle?

Acts 2:2-4 New King James Version (NKJV)

2 And suddenly there came a sound from heaven, as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled the whole house where they were sitting. 3 Then there appeared to them divided tongues, as of fire, and one sat upon each of them. 4 And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.

Isaiah_40-31: But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint

I understand that a turkey and an eagle react differently to the threat of a storm. A turkey reacts by running under the barn, hoping the storm won’t come near. On the other hand, an eagle leaves the security of its nest and spreads its wings to ride the air currents of the approaching storm, knowing they will carry it higher in the sky than it could soar on its own. Based on your reaction to the storms of life, which are you? A turkey or an eagle?

It’s natural for me to be a turkey in my emotions, but I have chosen to be an eagle in my spirit. And as I have spread my wings of faith to embrace the “Wind,” placing my trust in Jesus and Jesus alone, I have experienced quiet, “everyday” miracles:

His joy has balanced my pain.

His power has lifted my burden.

His peace has calmed my worries.

So . . . would you spread your wings of faith and soar?!

It Never Occurred To Satan

1-Corinthians_1-18: For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God

But now in Christ Jesus you who once were far away have been brought near through the blood of Christ.

Ephesians 2:13, NIV

God is righteous and just. But God is also loving and merciful. He cannot be less than Himself. Satan, in his temptation of Adam and Eve and in his plan to defeat the purpose of God, failed to take into account the very character of God. He failed to realize one very important thing – how much God loved the man and woman He had created and the depths to which His grace would go in order to bring them back to Himself. It never entered Satan’s wicked, self-centered imagination that God would commit the fullness of His eternal, divine nature to bring man back into a right relationship with Himself. It never occurred to Satan, who ever seeks his own pre-eminence that the Creator of the universe would lay down His own life in atonement for man’s sin. But that’s exactly what happened. The solution to the problem of sinfulness is the cross of Jesus Christ.

Kingdom Principle

Psalms_37-11: But the meek shall inherit the earth; and shall delight themselves in the abundance of peace

“LORD, you have assigned me my portion and my cup; you have made my lot secure. The boundary lines have fallen for me in pleasant places; surely I have a delightful inheritance” (Ps 16:5-6).

There is absolutely no place for competitiveness in ministry or marketplace activity if you understand God’s view of receiving. The Scripture tells us that we are not only to bless our competition, but we are also called to bless our enemies.

The reason we can do this is because our security and provision is not based on posturing ourselves against another, but fulfilling what God has called us to do. When we take a proactive step to bless another, we actually apply a Kingdom principle that results in greater blessing to others, the Kingdom of God and even to ourselves.

Our ministry tries to help other ministries like ours. Some would say that we are in danger of losing “market share” or even our donors. This is the worldly model of competition. Those who cannot bless others are insecure in their own calling and insecure in God’s ability to provide for their own enterprise.

God has already allocated His portion for you before the foundation of the world. You cannot out-give God. As you do your work unto Him God allows you to receive the fruit of your work.

“If you fully obey the LORD your God and carefully follow all his commands I give you today, the LORD your God will set you high above all the nations on earth. All these blessings will come upon you and accompany you if you obey the LORD your God: You will be blessed in the city and blessed in the country. . . The LORD will grant that the enemies who rise up against you will be defeated before you. They will come at you from one direction but flee from you in seven. The LORD will send a blessing on your barns and on everything you put your hand to. The LORD your God will bless you in the land he is giving you” (Deut 28:1-8).

Life is to be a lived vertically before the Lord, not horizontally. When we worry about the activities of others, we acknowledge our lack of faith in the One who called us.

I Am Above Reproach And By The Grace Of God, I Am An Example To Believers And Nonbelievers Alike

Proverbs_14-34: Righteousness exalteth a nation: but sin is a reproach to any people

It is good not to eat meat or drink wine or do anything that causes your brother to stumble.
–Romans 14:21

Any time we choose to do something that the Bible does not expressly forbid, we should stop and ask ourselves some important questions: “Does this action honor God? Is it helpful to my Christian walk? Will it negatively impact other believers who may follow my example?”

Whether or not we choose to do that action should depend on the answers to these questions.

Let’s talk about that last question today. Not everyone in the body of Christ is at the same point of spiritual maturity. Some Christians are either very young or still relatively immature in the faith, and thus may be more easily influenced by the actions of others. Instead of disregarding them, the Bible teaches us to be careful to make decisions that will not negatively impact them. This should be a very serious consideration for believers, who are called to be examples.

Things such as our use of language and alcohol come to mind when I think of activities that could cause someone else to stumble and fall. Imagine, for example, that a church leader is using alcohol in public, maybe as part of a meal at a restaurant. The problem comes when a middle school student from the church sees this leader and decides that’s what he’ll do when he gets old enough.

Little eyes are always watching you, waiting to see what you choose to do. Even if you can control your habits, can you guarantee that those around you will be able to control the habit that you helped start in their lives?

These are tough questions, but I believe we need to ask them so we can hold ourselves to the highest standards of Christian conduct. We are to be above reproach and to set an example to believers and nonbelievers alike. Are you sending the right messages through your actions?

Let me urge you to live with an acute awareness of those around you who may be at a different point of maturity in their walk with Christ.

REMEMBER, YOUR ACTIONS WILL INFLUENCE HOW OTHERS MAY CHOOSE TO ACT!

Who do I blame? Society! Jesus! God! Myself

Deuteronomy_6-7: And thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children, and shalt talk of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up.

Deuteronomy 30:19 ESV
I call heaven and earth as witnesses today against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing; therefore choose life, that both you and your descendants may live;

Our lives are made up of choices. If you are in a negative situation today you could blame others for it, but ultimately you would be blaming God.

Who do we blame? Do we blame society? So many people today blame society by saying to themselves, “My life is the way it is because of everything around me.”

I’ve often heard married couples say, “The world is so bad we don’t want to have children in this generation.” But whatever happened to the idea of having born again children who will change their generation rather than thinking they will be changed by the influence of the culture surrounding them?

So, who are we blaming? We can spend our lives blaming those around us for hurting us and letting us down or we can realize we no longer have to be held as slaves by them. We can choose to line up our lives with God’s Word because God forgives and completely heals.

Our success or failure is determined by our choice to follow God or follow those around us who are not influenced by God. We must decide to stop blaming those around us and align ourselves with God’s will, which is His Word. Why don’t you choose life today?
