God Is Love.

 

 

 

 

Memory Verse.
1 John 4:11
“Beloved, if God so loved us, we ought also to love one another”

 

 

 

 

 

Text:
1 John 4:7-21
7 Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and every one that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God.

 

 

 
8 He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love.

 

 

 
9 In this was manifested the love of God toward us, because that God sent his only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through him.

 

 

 
10 Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins.

 

 

 
11 Beloved, if God so loved us, we ought also to love one another.

 

 

 
12 No man hath seen God at any time. If we love one another, God dwelleth in us, and his love is perfected in us.

 

 

 
13 Hereby know we that we dwell in him, and he in us, because he hath given us of his Spirit.

 

 

 
14 And we have seen and do testify that the Father sent the Son to be the Saviour of the world.

 

 

 
15 Whosoever shall confess that Jesus is the Son of God, God dwelleth in him, and he in God.

 

 

 
16 And we have known and believed the love that God hath to us. God is love; and he that dwelleth in love dwelleth in God, and God in him.

 

 

 
17 Herein is our love made perfect, that we may have boldness in the day of judgment: because as he is, so are we in this world.

 

 

 
18 There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love.

 

 

 
19 We love him, because he first loved us.

 

 

 
20 If a man say, I love God, and hateth his brother, he is a liar: for he that loveth not his brother whom he hath seen, how can he love God whom he hath not seen?

 

 

 
21 And this commandment have we from him, That he who loveth God love his brother also.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Introduction:
Love was the bedrock upon which the whole earth’s creation was based. This was evidenced on the warm fellowship between God and man, but this was lost in the Garden of Eden, when man naively fell into the trap of Satan.

 

 
After God had cursed man at creation, Love again spurred Him into Reconciliation as God would not close His eyes to Satan taking all men to hell fire.

 

 
Consequently, out of Love God sent His only begotten Son to die for mankind. May the Holy Spirit Himself impart our lives through this lesson in Jesus Name! Amen!

 

 

 

 

 

 

Evidences Of God’s Love.
God’s evidences abound in our lives and around us. They can also be shown in the following ways:

 

 

 
1. God created us in His own image
Genesis 1:26-27
26 And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.
27 So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.

 

 

 

 

 

 

2. God gave us dominion over all His work.
Genesis 1:28
And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth.

 

 

 

 

 

3. God’s protection over us is unquantifiable
Psalm 91:1-10

 

 

 

 

4. Salvation of our souls is by God’s grace over us.
Ephesians 2:8
For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:

 

 

 

 

 

5. God sent His only begotten Son to pay the supreme sacrifice for the remission of our sin & to reconcile us back to God all because of God’s Love.
John 3:16-18
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.
18 He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.

 

 

 

 

 

6. God made us to be more than conquerors.
Romans 8:37
Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

7. We are grafted into God’s sonship & joint heirs with Christ.
Romans 8:15-17
15 For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father.
16 The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God:
17 And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

What God Expects From Us.
God expects us to:
1. Love Him in return by doing His will.
Luke 10:27
And he answering said, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy strength, and with all thy mind; and thy neighbour as thyself.

 

 

 

 

 

John 14:23
Jesus answered and said unto him, If a man love me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him.

 

 

 

 

 

2. Love one another.
1 John 4:11-21

 

 

 

 

 

 

Conclusion:

There is no doubt that God is love and that He had first loved us even when we were yet sinners and now that we are saved, we are required to love Him back by obeying His commandments and loving one another.

Luke 10:27
And he answering said, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy strength, and with all thy mind; and thy neighbour as thyself.
