Dearth Of The Word Of God.

Hebrews_4-12: For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart

Text: Amos 8:7-14

In 1 Samuel 3:1, a very disturbing situation was presented, that in the days of Eli the priest, the word of the Lord was very scarce and there was no open vision.

The question to be asked is “Where had the word of the Lord gone to?” or “Why did the Lord withdraw His word?” Whichever way we want to see it or answer it, it is the fault of those responsible for receiving the word that had gone out of touch with heaven. It is a pity for any minister of the Lord who does not hear from the Lord, nor sees revelations and whose heavens have been closed.

Beloved, the famine of the word of God is not usually the fault of the congregation but of the priests. If the Lord would leave the sanctuary to seek for another person who would hear His word for the people, then the ministers or priests are in great danger. When there is famine of the word, there is calamity dangling ever the congregation. If your minister is operating under a closed heaven, you are definitely going to remain in utter darkness.

The Book of Prophet Amos says that people shall wander from sea to sea, north to the east, run to and fro to seek for the word of the Lord but alas, it is nowhere to be found, young virgins and young men faints (Amos 8:12). This is the reason for most people looking for another church for help. Famine of the word will bring stress and sorrow over the people; it will make people to wander from pillar to post. Every minister is encouraged to develop a great affinity for the Word and your ministry will prosper.

MEMORY VERSE:
Ezekiel 7:26 “Mischief shall come upon mischief, and rumour shall be upon rumour; then shall they seek a vision of the prophet; but the law shall perish from the priest, and counsel from the ancients.”

PRAYER:
Lord fill our ministers with fresh words from Your throne every day every time, also let my ears be attentive to Your Word that we may not live in the darkness of life in Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.
