Just the mention of the word, especially in November when Americans celebrate Thanksgiving Day, invokes certain thoughts in our minds—mostly centered on the season itself and the opportunity it brings for family and friends to get together for food and fun. But Apostle Paul had something different in mind when he wrote in 1Thessalonians 5:18: “In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.”

Notice Paul said we are to give thanks in everything, not for everything. What exactly does that mean? It means that along life’s journey not everything we encounter is going to be easy…
