Proverbs_3-5-1: Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding

Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.
Proverbs 3:5,6

This is one of my favorite scriptures in the Bible. It is one that I hid in my heart during the first few months of my Christian life. It has been like a wonderful, bright lantern during those dark and dreary nights of uneasiness and hardship. It has been used of God to calm the tempest and settle the raging sea. It has been an anchor in the midst of the storm.

Why? Because it reminds me of my limitations and God’s limitless provision. To rely on self is to rely on nothing at all. J. B. Stoney’s description says it well:
