Godliness With Contentment

If any man teach otherwise, and consent not to wholesome words, even
the words of our Lord Jesus Christ, and to the doctrine which is
according to godliness; he is proud, knowing nothing, but doting
about questions and strifes of words, whereof cometh envy, strife,
railings, evil surmisings, perverse disputings of men of corrupt minds, and destitute of the truth, supposing that gain is godliness:
from such withdraw thyself. But godliness with contentment is great
gain

1 Timothy 6:3-6

An individual who will not obey the Word of God, who will not consent
to the Word, is proud; he’s ignorant. The Amplified Bible says these
people have a morbid fondness for controversy.

The world’s system says that money, power, and fame are God-like qualities that cause people who possess them to be admired, idolized, and worshipped. In…

What Is Your Kindness Quotient?

Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers. Galatians 6:10

What is your kindness quotient?

When was the last time you did something kind for someone in your family? What about your school or workplace?

Who is the most overlooked or avoided? A shy student? A grumpy employee?

Maybe he doesn’t speak the language. Maybe she doesn’t fit in. Are you kind to this person?

Kind hearts are quietly kind. They let the car cut into traffic. They let the young mom with three kids move up in the checkout line.

Paul writes in Galatians 6:10: “When we have the opportunity to help anyone, we should do it. But we should give special attention to those who are in the family of believers.”

The neediest person you meet all week…

Bloom wherever God plants you.

Acts 21:30

“And all the city was disturbed; and the people ran together, seized Paul, and dragged him out of the temple; and immediately the doors were shut.”
NKJV

Although the door never really opened to the Jewish people, Paul continuously ministered to them. There was, however, an open door for Paul to minister to the Gentiles. Sometimes in ministry, you may want to do one thing but God wants you to do something else. Maybe you have a heart for a particular country, region or a specific people group, but God wants you to ‘bloom right where you are planted’. Perhaps God has given you a heart to pray for missions in an area but hasn’t asked you to do it yourself. Paul supported the church at Jerusalem, but he was never really part of the…

Our Spiritual Inheritance

“Keep on asking, and you will be given what you ask for.” (Matthew 7:7)

God is Faithful!

Imagine for a moment that a distant relative has included you in his will. As part of the execution of that will, money is placed into a bank account for you, and you are notified of that fact. But you reason, “It can’t be true!” So you never bother to write a check against that account. Although you have the inheritance, you do not benefit from it because you lack the faith and willingness to claim it. How tragic!

As children of God, we must be aware of our spiritual inheritance and claim it by faith. Then we will experience the abundant spiritual riches God has for His children. This inheritance is both present and future.

I am told of a wealthy person who divided his…

God Gives The Power To Get Wealth.

God Gives The Power To Get Wealth.

Deuteronomy 8:18 says:

“But thou shalt remember the Lord thy God: for it is He that giveth thee power to get wealth, that He may establish His covenant which He sware unto thy fathers, as it is this day.”

God has given us the power to get wealth. That power is found in obedience and faith. It is found in living righteously so that God can pour out His blessing upon us. It is found in us trusting Him in every area of our lives. It is found in us realizing that God is our source.

Paul said in Philippians 4:19, “But my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.”

God is your source. Never forget it as you become blessed. Never forget where your blessing came from. Never forget that it was…

The Sabbath Rest The Sabbath Rest (Photo credit: Wikipedia)

The Sabbath is not a day, but rather a relationship with God through Jesus. Rest in His love and let Him use you today.

John 5:16, “And therefore did the Jews persecute Jesus, and sought to slay him because he had done these things on the sabbath day.”

JOHN 5:16-27

The Sabbath was first mentioned in Scripture in Exodus 16, when the Lord started miraculously providing the children of Israel with manna in the wilderness. The Israelites were commanded to gather twice as much manna on the sixth day because God would not provide any on the seventh day. Shortly after this, the Lord commanded the observance of the Sabbath day in the ten commandments that were communicated to Moses on Mt. Sinai on the two tablets of stone (Ex. 20:8-11). In this command, God connected this Sabbath day with…

READ:Deuteronomy 6:1-9

You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, when you walk by the way, when you lie down, and when you rise up. —Deuteronomy 6:7

In my family scrapbook is a picture of my daughter at age 4 working next to me, using a toy hammer to repair the siding on the house. Side by side we worked that day; she imitated my every action, absolutely convinced that she too was fixing the house. Rarely have I enjoyed a chore more. In the picture, it’s obvious that she’s enjoying it too.

That photo reminds me that our children mimic most of what they see in us—words and deeds. They also form their…

The God Of This Very Moment

John 11:21-27 says:

“Then said Martha unto Jesus, Lord, if thou hadst been here, my brother had not died. But I know, that even now, whatsoever Thou wilt ask of God, God will give it Thee. Jesus saith unto her, Thy brother shall rise again. Martha saith unto Him, I know that he shall rise again in the resurrection at the last day. Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in Me, though he were dead, yet shall he live: And whosoever liveth and believeth in Me shall never die. Believest thou this? She saith unto him, Yea, Lord: I believe that Thou art the Christ, the Son of God, which should come into the world.”

Many of us are like Martha. We believe that Jesus is the Christ, but…

God Will Always lead Us To A Place of Peace and Provision.

Proverbs 5:21,23 “For the ways of man are before the eyes of the LORD, And He ponders all his paths. He shall die for lack of instruction, And in the greatness of his folly he shall go astray.”
You might be feeling that God has forgotten you or that He is too busy to have time for your problems. The truth is that you are constantly in God’s thoughts and that He has not forgotten about you.

Take time to re-focus and read His word diligently. You will find that He has got all the answers to every challenge you may be facing. You just need to do exactly what He is telling you and not try and follow your own plans. It may seem a little strange but have faith in God and know…

Beware! Nobody knows the exact time or day of the coming of the Lord

Living Aware

…I know thy works, that thou hast a name that thou livest, and art
dead. Be watchful, and strengthen the things which remain, that are
ready to die: for I have not found thy works perfect before God.
Remember therefore how thou hast received and heard, and hold fast,
and repent. If therefore thou shalt not watch, I will come on thee
as a thief, and thou shalt not know what hour I will come upon thee
Revelation 3:1b-3

The church of Sardis says they are alive, but they are dead. They have
an outward form and a profession, but that is all they have. There is
no power. There is nothing real about it whatsoever. This is a church that has moved from what God wanted it be and has become just…

The Look of Jesus

While [Peter] was still speaking, the rooster crowed. And the Lord turned and looked at Peter. . . . So Peter went out and wept bitterly.

Luke 22:60-62, NKJV

The night Jesus was betrayed, a man stepped up to Peter in the courtyard of the temple compound and challenged him: “Didn’t I see you with [Jesus] in the olive grove?” (John 18:26, NIV). All the tension and anger of the past hours exploded in Peter and tumbled out in a stream of curses as he insisted, “I don’t know the man!” Yet as he spoke, he heard the unmistakable sound of a rooster crowing in the distance. At that very moment, a commotion in the breezeway got everyone’s attention. With the denial still burning his lips, Peter looked into the eyes of Jesus!

Never alone

“No, I will not abandon you as orphans – I will come to you.” (John 14:P18)

www.DiscoverGOD.com

“I feel so alone,” Bev said, “with my husband gone and all my children married. Sometimes I can hardly bear the pain, the anguish. At times it’s as though I am about to suffocate—I am so lonely!”

Bev was in her late 70s. Her husband was dead, and her other family members were involved in their own careers and activities. Though they loved her, they were so busy they seldom saw her to express that love.

I shared with her the good news of the one who loved her so much that He died on the cross for her and paid the penalty for her sins, the one who promised never to leave her once He came.

There in the loneliness of her living room, she bowed…

Deuteronomy 10. The second pair of stone tablets. Moses receives the commandments again

1 At that time the LORD said unto me, Hew thee two tables of stone like unto the first, and come up unto me into the mount, and make thee an ark of wood. 2 And I will write on the tables the words that were in the first tables which thou brakest, and thou shalt put them in the ark. 3 And I made an ark of shittim wood, and hewed two tables of stone like unto the first, and went up into the mount, having the two tables in mine hand. 4 And he wrote on the tables, according to the first writing, the ten commandments, which the LORD spake unto you in the mount out of the midst of the fire in the day of the assembly: and the LORD gave them unto me…
