Putting God‘s Business First

Now therefore thus sayeth the Lord of hosts; Consider your ways. Ye have sown much, and bring in little; ye eat, but ye have not enough;
ye drink, but ye not are filled with drink; ye clothe you, but there
is none warm; and he that earneth wages, earneth wages to put it

Haggai 1:5-6

Israel had been defeated and the temple destroyed. Later, God delivered
Israel from their captivity in Babylon and restored to them what had
been lost. Someone had raised the issue of building the Lord’s house
again, but the Israelites didn’t want to spend the money or expend the
effort.

Many believers are like these Israelites. They need to consider their ways, to take an inventory of what has happened to their finances. They
are honest, hard-working individuals. They are sowing a lot into the

Courage comes as we live with Jesus

“And who is he who will harm you if you become followers of what is good? But even if you should suffer for righteousness’ sake, you are blessed. And do not be afraid of their threats nor be troubled. I Peter 3:13-14”

On April 18, 2007, three Christians in Turkey were killed for their beliefs. Necati Aydin, a 35 year-old pastor was one of them.

He nearly didn’t go the office that morning. He’d been travelling and his wife, Semse, wanted him to stay home and rest. He admitted his weariness, but went on to work. There was much to be done. Semse recalls, “As my dear husband walked out the door, he smiled at me one last time. I didn’t know that was the last smile.”

Later that morning, attackers came to Necati Aydin’s office insisting he pray: “There is no God…

Acts 10:1

Cornelius was praying. Cornelius was giving. So God opened the door for
him to receive his salvation. God gave him the word of knowledge
immediately. He told him where to find Simon, what house he was in, and
the occupation of the person whose house he was in. Cornelius’ gift of
prayer and giving came as a memorial before God.

Thus, Cornelius was the first centurion to become saved. He was the
first centurion to receive the baptism of the Holy Ghost and speaking
in other tongues. Because he was consistent in prayer and giving, God
was able to bless him.

And some were persuaded by the things which were spoken, and some disbelieved.”

Interesting… Paul used what part of the Bible? He used the Hebrew Scriptures. Paul used the Old Testament to show that Jesus was the Messiah; Yeshua HaMashiach in Hebrew. It’s amazing to me how many churches, pastors, and Christians are willing to throw aside the Hebrew Scriptures calling them outdated or not relevant for today. We see Jesus all through the Old Testament! He’s in Genesis, Exodus

Romans 11:30-32

“For as you were once disobedient to God, yet have now obtained mercy through their disobedience, even so these also have now been disobedient, that through the mercy shown you they also may obtain mercy. For God has committed them all to disobedience, that He might have mercy on all.”
NKJV

God offers all of mankind His mercy. Who are we to put limits on His mercy? When we choose not to minister the Gospel to another, we do just that. The definition of mercy is to not receive what you deserve. As we celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ, let us remember that in no way did we deserve God’s merciful action. By no means did we merit Jesus’ suffering at the hands of the unrighteous and that He would bear the tremendous weight of our own sin…

Christ In You

“No one can enter the Kingdom of God without being born of water and the Spirit.”

John 3:5, NLT

When you believe in Christ, Christ works a miracle in you. “When you believed in Christ, He identified you as His own by giving you the Holy Spirit” (Eph. 1:13, NLT).

You are permanently purified and empowered by God himself. The message of Jesus to the religious person is simple: It’s not what you do. It’s what I do. I have moved in. And in time you can say with Paul, “I myself no longer live, but Christ lives in me” (Gal. 2:20, NLT).

Blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed

John 20:29, NIV

The Grave Clothes

Upon hearing the news of the empty tomb, Peter and John ran to see for themselves. Peter confronted the evidence, but he was confused. At that instant, he must have been angrier than ever. He must have surmised that the enemies of Jesus who had dared to crucify Him, had now taken the body for who knew what purpose!

John quietly looked around. He noticed that the grave clothes were totally unlike those of Lazarus, which had been just a pile of stinking rags by the time Martha had finished unwrapping him. These grave clothes were lying, not as though someone had removed them from the body, but as though the body were still inside! The face cloth was situated where the face would have been, with the few inches…

They have become filled with every kind of wickedness, evil, greed and depravity. They are full of envy, murder, strife, deceit and malice.
Romans 1:29

We live in a world that has forgotten God. The latest bestselling books set out to discredit God. References to God are disappearing from many public institutions, and liberal activists want to remove His name from the Pledge of Allegiance.

God’s people should be shouting from the rooftops, “God is great!” The absence of any kind of rebuttal is the result of the insidious work of Satan. Satan wants to destroy all communication between God and man, and we help him every time we do not speak up.

Forget what is ‘politically correct’ and praise God. Some may ridicule you for praising His name, but His Word will stand forever, long after the present fads have passed from this earth…

The Power Of God’s Word

Luke 8:11, “Now the parable is this: The seed is the word of God.”

LUKE 8:11-15

It is through the reading of the Word and the enlightenment of the Holy Spirit that Christ in His fullness is known. What a privilege it is today to have God’s Word in our own language. Six hundred years ago there was no English translation of the whole Bible. Thanks to the efforts of John Wycliffe (1384) and William Tyndale (1523), today we are able to read and understand the writings of the apostles for ourselves. Men gave their lives to bring us God’s Word. We should take advantage of this wonderful privilege.

The piece of armour known as the “sword of the Spirit” is the only piece of armour that has the ability to cut, wound, and hurt our enemy, the devil. It’s not the Bible

Search me, O God, and know my heart; try me, and know my anxieties; and see if there is any wicked way in me.

—Psalm 139:23-24

READ:1 Corinthians 13:4-8

Is it possible to be too helpful? Can our helpfulness actually make life more difficult for others? Yes, if we’re being bothersome, intrusive, smothering, manipulative, or controlling. If the help we are giving is driven only by our own anxiety, we may be just trying to help ourselves.

How then can we know if our heart and acts of service are truly symbolic of God’s unconditional love? How can we love from pure motives? (Prov. 16:2; 21:2; 1 Cor. 4:5).

In prayer we can ask God to show us any way we are hurting or hindering others (Ps. 139:23-24). We can ask God to help us show love that “suffers long and is kind; …

For though a righteous man falls seven times, he rises up again; but the wicked shall fall into mischief

Prayer's avatarPrayer Haven

For though a righteous man falls seven times, he rises up again; but the wicked shall fall into mischief.

There has never been a greater opportunity for the church of Jesus Christ to shine
with the glory of the Lord. However, we must make certain we develop a “never give
up” attitude. Proverbs 24:16 “for though a righteous man falls seven times, he rises up
again…”

In every circumstance of life there are choices to be made. You must decide what
you will do in times of crisis, when you make a mistake, or when you experience
failure. It’s not about falling, it’s about rising again. Your enemy is intimidated
by your tenacity to never quit and to never give up.
So today I boldly decree your attitude is right, your faith is focused, and you
are expressing the reality that satan cannot win if I don’t quit.

God Knows everything

God knows everything

God knows the future

I can tell you what is going to happen even before it happen (Isaiah 46:10)

During the 1990’s, highly educated and experienced economists predicted doom for the American economy, yet we experienced quarter after quarter of improved profits and higher productivity. Stock market consultants forecasted a market decline and advised clients to switch into safer financial investments, yet the stock market continued to climb to extraordinary heights.

The reality is that no one really knows what the economy will do. As someone once remarked, “If you lined up all the economists in the world one after another, you wouldn’t have enough to reach a conclusion.”

Now consider the foreknowledge of God. At one time, nothing existed but God, yet at any point in time, He knew the past, present, and future. He knew when He would create the universe, that Adam and…

Resurrection of Christ

The resurrection of Our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ from the dead changes everything

Luke 24:5-6

“The women were terrified and bowed with their faces to the ground. Then the men asked, “Why are you looking among the dead for someone who is alive? 6 He isn’t here! He is risen from the dead! Remember what he told you back in Galilee,”
NLT

No matter who you are, the resurrection of Jesus Christ changes everything. It changes how we think about life and death. It changes the way we approach relationships and grieve over losses. The resurrection also establishes a big difference between Our Lord Jesus and other spiritual or religious leaders. Out of all the religions of the world, only one can boast of its leader being raised from the dead and that’s Christianity.

So the question remains, “What is your response to…

Forgiveness lesson from flowers

Blessed is he whose transgression is forgiven,

Psalm 32:1

The Secret of Forgiveness

Is it still hard to consider the thought of forgiving the one who hurt you?

We’ll never be able to wash the feet of those who’ve hurt us until we allow Jesus, the one we’ve hurt, to wash ours. That’s the secret of forgiveness. You’ll never forgive anyone more than God has already forgiven you.

Watch Jesus as he goes from disciple to disciple. Can you hear the water splash? Keep that image. John 13:12 says, “When he had finished washing their feet…” Note, he finished washing their feet. He left no one out. That’s important! It means he also washed the feet of Judas. Jesus washed the feet of his betrayer.

That’s not to say it was easy for Jesus. That’s not to say it’s easy for you. That IS to say—God…

Overcoming Obstacles

[The women] asked each other, “Who will roll the stone away from the entrance of the tomb?”

Mark 16:3, NIV

The women who had been so faithfully vigilant at the Cross during the long hours of Jesus’ suffering returned together first thing Sunday morning to complete the embalming process that Joseph and Nicodemus had hastily done late Friday afternoon.

Their voices could be heard on the brisk early morning air as they discussed the problem of how they would roll the stone away. They knew it would be impossible for them to accomplish, even if all of them pushed together. What stone, what obstacle is ahead of you that you think you can’t move or get around, that blocks you from fulfilling your commitment to the Lord? Is it the stone of
