Past performance not indicative of future results

If you’ve spent any time reviewing the outlook of an investment you will recognize this statement. This statement is so that an investment firm can show you how well they’ve done, while protecting themselves from a failure to produce similar results for you. Could we not draw a corollary between hiring and investing?

Hiring is making an investment in human capital, instead of monetary capital. When hiring we tend to review resumes, code samples, and ask questions digging into someones past to see if they are a fit for what is needed. Is this really the best way to make a hiring decision?

Knowing what someones past performance could mean for their future would make you a very wealthy recruiter. Giving someone the chance to show what they are capable is key. Are they capable of working nights and weekends when everyone else is? Are they bought into the processes?…

Our Generation

Help Us O LORD!

Isaiah 60:15

15 “Although you have been forsaken and hated,

       with no one traveling through,

I will make you the everlasting pride

and the joy of all generations.

A young man driving fast, blasting music through his car stereo.

He had dreams to leave a legacy, but bad decisions and steel bars put them to rest.

Another fatherless dot on the map.

This is their generation.

A young girl waits on her couch.  Wearing very little and showing too much.

Her parents were working late.  A knock on the door, a few hours later she was a mother.

This is their generation.

A dark corner hides the sales of fiends.  Teenage clients exchanging their lives for short pleasures.

They pay any price to satisfy their lusts.

This is their generation.

There are crowds gathering throughout the world.  Thousands are racing to clubs, supermarkets, theaters, streets, everywhere…

Waterfalls

Psalm 42:7
Deep calls to deep
in the roar of your waterfalls;
all your waves and breakers
have swept over me.

I feel the drops pouring over me

His presence, His promises, His love

Every drip, His goodness, every splash, His miracles

I keep my eyes closed, focused on who He is to me

Father. Healer. Protector. Abba

Refresh my soul, cleanse me from within

These waters are pure, gentle yet loud

I hear no one else but You. My mind is clear

Prophecy

We need a VOICE! We need the PROPHET!

Samuru's avatarIllumination Poetry

Matthew 3:3

This is he who was spoken of through the prophet Isaiah: “A voice of one calling in the desert, ‘Prepare the way for the Lord, make straight paths for him.’ “

Shout, yell, dance, don’t hold it in, the Lord will hear us!

The weak cry out for strength

Only your Word will satisfy us

A thirsty people, wanting truth in a desert of confusion.

What is our purpose, who are we?  The world is silent.

Wolves dressed in light speak adultery

Pleasing the public, leading the blind

Over robes of shame they wear vanity and fame

Draw out your servants from their caves, set their tongues ablaze

Religion muffles Your sound

Tradition gives gifts of uncertainty

Hear our words, drowning in tears

We need FREEDOM

We need a VOICE

We need the PROPHET
