Lord unto me

Our father and our God, we worship You this morning. We say Hallowed be Your Holy name. We thank You for our everyday protection and provision. We thank You for granting us the grace to see another day in the land of the living. We thank You for Your faithfulness and the hope in a better tomorrow. Father in Your tender mercies forgive us in any way we have sinned against You, both, known and unknown. Blessed be Your Holy name.  In Jesus Christ name We have prayed. Amen.

STANDING ON THE PROMISES OF GOD

Mark 11:22. Have faith in God.

For assuredly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, be removed and be cast into the sea and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that those things he says will be done, he will have whatever he says.

Therefore, I say to you, whatever things you ask when you pray, believe that you receive them, and you will have them.

Brethren I encourage us to hold fast to the promises of God, especially in these trying times. It’s a big challenge to our faith in God, but through our saviour Jesus Christ, we are conquerors!

The mere frustration of not been able to move freely, worship even visit our loved ones and friends ….

We are Christians! Sisters and Brethren, we are the redeemed in Christ Jesus!! Nothing, nothing should be able to hold us down. Just like David challenged Goliath….an uncircumcised Philistine. How dare any challenge …disease, failure, fears, …. stand between us and our God! We say to any of these challenges to be cast away in the mighty name of Jesus.  Amen! It is well in Jesus Christ Name, Amen.

MEMORISE:

 Seest thou a man diligent in his business? he shall stand before kings; he shall not stand before mean men. Proverbs 22:29

READ: 1 Corinthians 12:4-7.

4 Now there are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit.

5 And there are differences of administrations, but the same Lord.

6 And there are diversities of operations, but it is the same God which worketh all in all.

7 But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to every man to profit withal.

MESSAGE:

Apostle Paul tells us in the Bible reading of today that he would not want us to be ignorant of the truth concerning our calling as Christians and workers in the vineyard. Hosea 4:6 also emphasizes the danger of ignorance:

“My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge…”

In order words, lies hold people captive! In Proverbs 22:29 we read that a person who is diligent in his or her business shall stand before kings. In what business? The fellow is to be diligent in whatever is committed into his or her hands – Academically, Professionally, Spiritually and in all other areas.

“Whatsoever thy hand findeth to do, do it with thy might; for there is no work, nor device, nor knowledge, nor wisdom, in the grave, whither thou goest.” Ecclesiastes 9:10

The Scripture above emphasizes the need for diligence.

In the light of today’s reading, let us consider some things worthy of learning: ONE, it is possible for Christians to be ignorant of facts about spiritual gifts. TWO, there are many gifts in the body of Christ and every believer should possess at least one. THREE, it is the Holy Spirit who distributes gifts to every believer as He chooses. FOUR, there are differences in the administration as well as division of labor. Thus, believers should beware of carrying out too many activities in the Church by themselves because it could be counter-productive. FIVE, though there are differences in operations from believer to believer, it is the same God through His Holy Spirit that works in all genuine believers. SIX, the Holy spirit then gives different assignments to different believers for the edification of the entire Body of Christ.

Thus, we see that it is not for the fun of it that believers are endowed with one gift or another. Therefore, we come to THE SEVENTH LESSON: no gifts either superior or inferior to another. For this reason, Apostle Paul further wrote to warn us against discriminating in the use of the spiritual gifts (1 Corinthians 15:17).

Therefore beloved, let us work together as many members, but one indivisible Body of Christ- everyone playing his or her part as the Lord has given us enablement. We shall not miss our reward in Jesus’ name. Amen.

ACTION POINT:

Identify your spiritual gift(s) and begin to operate in its fulness, to the glory of God. Amen.

17. And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever.

MESSAGE:

In today’s memory verse, Apostle Paul enjoins us not to love the world and warned that we cannot love God and the world at the same time.

He urges further that we should not engage in the works of darkness as listed in Ephesians 5:4-5, and Ephesians 5:12

“Neither filthiness, nor foolish talking, nor jesting, which are not convenient… For ye know, that no whoremonger, nor unclean person, nor covetous man, who is an idolater, hath any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God…for it is a shame even to speak of those things which are done of them in secret.”

Why however, are there thieves in the congregations of Churches today? Why are harlots in the Choir? Why are extra-marital affairs now commonplace among believers?

The answer is simple: worldliness has become the order of the day! The ‘get-rich quick’ spirit is holding sway among believers who have forgotten Paul’s counsel to be content with what they have (1 Timothy 6:6-11).

The ‘end justifies the means’ philosophy growing in the Church today is contrary to the word of God that says everyone shall give account for his or her actions (Romans 14:12).

Another reason for the growth of worldliness in the Church today is that the children of light have made our places of worship comfortable for evildoers.

Many believers are now living lives of deadly compromise. Integrity is now considered ‘old school’.

How can we change this situation?

The Bible says in Ephesians 5:7-8

“Be not ye therefore partakers with them. For ye were sometimes darkness, but now are ye light in the Lord: walk as children of light:”

The Bible in Romans 13:12-14 also says:

“The night is far spent, the day is at hand: let us therefore cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armour of light.

Let us walk honestly, as in the day; …But put ye on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make not provision for the flesh, to fulfil the lusts thereof.”

Henceforth, let us walk as children of light (Ephesians 5:8) and separate ourselves from every form of worldliness.

May the second coming of the Lord not catch us unawares in Jesus’ name. Amen.

PRAYER POINT:

Father, please grant me the grace to be vigilant that the day of the Lord will not catch me unawares, in the mighty name of Jesus. Amen.

Be Separated. Separate From Sin. Be Separated Unto God Almighty. Father we adore and bless your Name. You are the King of Kings and the Lord of Lords. You reign in your Majesty.  Thank you, Ancient of Days, Thank you Our Rock of Ages. We Magnify and Glorify your Holy Name.

Good morning brethren, in 2 Corinthians 6: 17, the word of the Lord said in verse 17, ‘’Therefore “Come out from among them and be separate, says the Lord.’’

There are two things God will want us to:

• Separate ourselves from sin.

• Separate ourselves to God.

As God spoke to Abraham in Genesis 17:1b “I am the Almighty God; walk before me, and be thou perfect.  God is calling us to be separated from the world and its standards, not to a life of Isolation or solitary life, but a life when we are in the world but not of the world. A life that makes the word of God and His commandments our standard and priority. As written in the scriptures,  “Be ye Holy, for I am Holy”

2 Corinthians 6: 14-16 & 18, “Do not be unequally yoked together with unbelievers. For what fellowship has righteousness with lawlessness? And what communion has light with darkness?

 15 And what accord has Christ with Belial? Or what part has a believer with an unbeliever?

 16 And what agreement has the temple of God with idols? For you are the temple of the living God. As God has said: “I will dwell in them and walk among them. I will be their God, And they shall be My people.” Do not touch what is unclean, And I will receive you.”

 18 “I will be a Father to you, and you shall be My sons and daughters, Says the Lord Almighty.”

God is a jealous God, He would like us to separate ourselves from those things we have idolized, what are the things in our lives that we have turned into small gods; Money, Careers, Businesses, Children, Academics, Fashion, Cars, Wealth, Houses, name it, whatever we now give more priority to, other than God translates into idols for us.

Establishing, developing, and maintaining that personal relationship with God is the most important commitment we can ever make in life, and this is the primary focus of the 1st commandment in Exodus 20:2-3 and as emphasized by Jesus Christ in Mark 12:28-30 and Matthew:22-37.

Our God is a jealous God and frowns upon our making anything a priority in our lives apart from Him. Remember that we are the temple of the living God and when God dwells in us it means that we carry His presence.

Benefits of being Separated:

1. We are the temple of God Almighty and we carry His presence with us. (For you are the temple of the living God. As God has said: I will dwell in them and walk among them).

2. We have God’s Acceptance. (I will be their God, and they shall be My people). When we have God’s Acceptance our destiny will change.

3. We will enjoy the fatherhood of God and all the benefits of having God as our father. (I will be a Father to you, and you shall be My sons and daughters).

LET US PRAY

1. O Lord we pray that as we carry your presence that Lord everything that presents itself as a hindrance or obstacle in our lives will give way in the Name of Jesus. May the Power of God that we carry make a way for us in every area of our lives in Jesus Name. Father let our life showcase God’s glory in Jesus Name. Amen.

2. Because you are our Father LORD, we pray that we begin to see your fatherhood in every area of our lives, in our careers, businesses, academics, finances etc. May we continue to receive your protection, provision, preservation, love etc. Amen.

3. Father as the destiny of Ruth changed when they received your acceptance, Father change our destinies for good in Jesus Name. Amen.

Thank you, God, for the grace to separate ourselves and live a life that is pleasing to you, thank you for answering our prayers in Jesus Name. Amen.
