For The Oath’s Sake.
2-Peter_1-4: Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust
“And the king was sorry: nevertheless for the oath’s sake, and them which sat with him at meat, he commanded it to be given her.” Mathew 14:9
An oath is a solemn appeal to a deity or to some revered person or thing to witness one’s determination to speak the truth, to keep a promise etc.
You will notice from our text, Herod the king took an oath to give Herodias daughter who danced at his birthday whatever she asked for (v.7).
