GOD IS YOUR FATHER.

GOD IS YOUR FATHER.

TEXT: John 20:11-18

[11]But Mary stood outside by the tomb weeping, and as she wept she stooped down and looked into the tomb.

[12]And she saw two angels in white sitting, one at the head and the other at the feet, where the body of Jesus had lain.

[13]Then they said to her, “Woman, why are you weeping?” She said to them, “Because they have taken away my Lord, and I do not know where they have laid Him.”

[14]Now when she had said this, she turned around and saw Jesus standing there, and did not know that it was Jesus.

[15]Jesus said to her, “Woman, why are you weeping? Whom are you seeking?” She, supposing Him to be the gardener, said to Him, “Sir, if You have carried Him away, tell me where You have laid Him, and I will take Him away.”

[16]Jesus said to her, “Mary!” She turned and said to Him, “Rabboni!” (which is to say, Teacher).

[17] “Jesus said to her, “Do not cling to Me, for I have not yet ascended to My Father; but go to My brethren and say to them, ‘I am ascending to My Father and your Father, and to My God and your God.’ ”

[18]Mary Magdalene came and told the disciples that she had seen the Lord, and that He had spoken these things to her.

STUDY

Prior to the death, burial and Resurrection of Jesus, we could not refer to God as Father. Though He created us, sin had caused a separation between us. We needed to be washed, sanctified and justified. This was made possible through the substitutionary sacrifice of Jesus. Now, once a person accepts Jesus as Lord and Savior, such a person becomes a child of God. If you have done that at any point, you need to know that God is your Father (John 1:12). You can call Him Abba because the spirit of adoption now lives in you (Romans 8:15).

A father is a giver and provider. Expect that your heavenly father is looking for avenue to bless and provide for you. He wants you to ask so that you will receive good things from Him (Luke 11:11-13). Your Father cares about your deepest needs and concerns. Cast your burdens on Him (1 Peter 5:7). When life gets overwhelming, you can shut your door and pray to your Father who is in the secret place (Matthew 6:6).

Food for Thought: “I will be a Father to you, and you shall be My sons and daughters, Says the Lord Almighty.” (2 Corinthians 6:18).

Prayer: Dear Father, help me to become conscious of the relationship we now have. Amen.

Thank You Jesus,

Salvation Prayers

If you don’t Know Jesus as your personal Lord and Saviour and would like to accept him into your life as your personal Lord and Saviour, Please say this prayer:

Father, I know that I have broken your laws and my sins have separated me from You. I am truly sorry, and now I want to turn away from my past sinful life toward You. Please forgive me, and help me avoid sinning again. I believe that Your son, Jesus Christ died for my sins, was resurrected from the dead, is alive, and hears my prayer. I invite Jesus to become the Lord of my life, to rule and reign in my heart from this day forward. Please send Your Holy Spirit to help me obey You, and to do Your Will for the rest of my life. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.
