20 REALIZATIONS OF A MATURE MIND By Pastor Jerry Eze
1. It’s Not All About Me.
Dear Heavenly Father! My Lord and Saviour, please help me focus on others, prioritize their needs, and serve selflessly! Amen.
Philippians 2:3-4: “Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves, not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others.”
2. I’m Not Always Right.
Dear Heavenly Father! In the mighty name of Jesus Christ my personal Lord and Saviour! Please grant me humility to acknowledge my mistakes, learn from others, and seek Your guidance at all times! Amen.
Proverbs 3:7-8: “Do not be wise in your own eyes; fear the Lord and shun evil. This will bring health to your body and nourishment to your bones.”
3. I Don’t Know Everything; But I Do Know Some Things Well.
Dear Heavenly Father, in the mighty name of Jesus Christ my Lord and personal Saviour, please expand my knowledge, wisdom, and understanding, and help me recognize my limitations! Amen.
1 Corinthians 8:2: “The one who thinks they know something does not yet know as they ought to know.”
4. People are entitled to their opinions.
Dear Heavenly Father, in the mighty name of Jesus Christ my Lord and personal Saviour, please teach me to respect differing views, listen attentively, and respond graciously! Amen.
Romans 14:1-4: “Accept the one whose faith is weak, without quarreling over disputable matters… Who are you to judge someone else’s servant? To their own master, servants stand or fall.”
5. It’s okay (no, necessary) to say NO sometimes.
Dear Heavenly Father! In the mighty name of Jesus Christ, please give me courage to set healthy boundaries, prioritize my well-being, and trust Your plans for me! Amen.
Proverbs 22:3: “The prudent see danger and take refuge, but the simple keep going and suffer for it.”
6. People will be defensive if I’m offensive.
Dear Heavenly Father Lord, in the mighty name of Jesus Christ my Lord and personal Saviour, please help me communicate kindly, avoid hurtful words, and promote harmony around me! Amen.
Ephesians 4:29-31: “Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up… Get rid of all bitterness, rage and anger, brawling and slander, along with every form of malice.”
7. I can’t spend more than I make.
Dear Heavenly Father! In the mighty name of Jesus Christ my Lord and personal Saviour, please guide my financial decisions, teach me stewardship, and provide for my needs! Amen.
Proverbs 22:7: “The rich rule over the poor, and the borrower is slave to the lender.”
8. I can’t speak my mind around everyone.
Dear Heavenly Father, in the mighty name of Jesus Christ my personal Lord and Saviour, grant me discernment to know when to speak and when to remain silent! Amen.
Proverbs 10:14: “Wise people store up knowledge, but the mouth of a fool invites ruin.”
9. You are not in competition with anyone.
O Lord, in the mighty name of Jesus Christ my personal Lord and Saviour, remind me to focus on my own journey, celebrate others’ successes, and trust Your unique plan for me! Amen.
Galatians 6:4-5: “Each one should test their own actions. Then they can take pride in themselves alone, without comparing themselves to somebody else.”
10. At some point I must stop talking about it & make it happen.
Dear Heavenly Father! Please empower me through Christ Jesus my personal Lord and Saviour, to turn my intentions into actions, overcome procrastination, and fulfil my purpose! Amen.
James 1:22-25: “Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says… The one who looks into the perfect law, the law of liberty, and perseveres, being no hearer who forgets but a doer who acts.”
11. Forgiving is good for my mental health.
Dear Heavenly Father! In the mighty name of Jesus Christ my personal Lord and Saviour! Please help me release grudges, forgive freely, and experience Your healing peace! Amen.
Matthew 6:14-15: “For if you forgive other people when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you do not forgive others their sins, your Father will not forgive your sins.”
12. No one owes me anything.
Dear Heavenly Father! In the mighty name of Jesus Christ my personal Lord and Saviour! Please teach me gratitude, contentment, and humility, recognizing Your goodness in every circumstance! Amen.
Luke 17:7-10: “Suppose one of you has a servant plowing or looking after the sheep. Will he say to the servant when he comes in from the field, ‘Come immediately and sit down to eat’? Won’t he rather say, ‘Prepare my supper… So you also, when you have done everything you were told to do, should say, ‘We are unworthy servants; we have only done our duty.’”
13. People are as human as I am.
Dear Heavenly Father! In the mighty name of Jesus Christ my personal Lord and Saviour! Please remind me to treat others with compassion, empathy, and understanding! Amen.
Genesis 1:27: “So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them.”
14. Having a few close friends is better than barely knowing lots of people.
Dear Heavenly Father! In the mighty name of Jesus Christ my personal Lord and Saviour please bless me with meaningful relationships, deepen my connections, and nurture lifelong friendships! Amen.
Proverbs 18:24: “A person with many friends may be harmed by them, but there is a friend who stays closer than a brother.”
15. Watch what they do, it matters more than what they say.
Dear Heavenly Father! In the mighty name of Jesus Christ my personal Lord and Saviour, grant me discernment to evaluate actions over words and follow Your examples! Amen.
Matthew 7:20: “Thus, by their fruit you will recognize them.”
16. Nothing is as it first appears.
Dear Lord, in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, please give me wisdom to look beyond surface levels, seek truth, and trust Your sovereignty! Amen.
1 Samuel 16:7: “The Lord does not look at the things people look at. People look at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.”
17. People who talk about people to me will talk about me to people.
Dear Heavenly Father! Please help me guard my tongue, promote kindness, and earn trustworthy relationships in Christ Jesus! Amen.
Proverbs 20:19: “A gossip betrays a confidence; so avoid anyone who talks too much.”
18. Don’t burn every damaged bridge.
Dear Heavenly Father! Please teach me forgiveness, reconciliation, and restoration, leaving room for Your redemption in Christ Jesus! Amen!
Romans 12:18: “If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone.”
19. Listening is as important as talking.
O Lord, cultivate in me attentive listening skills, empathetic understanding, and thoughtful responses, just like my Lord and personal Saviour Jesus Christ! Amen.
James 1:19: “My dear brothers and sisters, take note of this: Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry.”
20. Protect your alone time & personal space.
Dear Heavenly Father, please help me prioritize self-care, establish boundaries, and find rest in Your presence through Christ Jesus my Lord and Personal Saviour! Amen.
Matthew 14:13: “When Jesus heard what had happened, he withdrew by boat privately to a solitary place. Hearing of this, the crowds followed him on foot from the towns.”
