Abundant Grace. Fulfilling the Mandate – Lessons from the Early Christians

Text: Matthew 28:18-20, 1 Corinthians 10:11, Jeremiah 6: 16

INTRODUCTION: Let us look at how believers in the early days of Christianity responded to the Great Commission and carried out the believer’s mandate, often referred to as “the old way,” before the complexities of modern institutionalized religion and technology.

1. The mandate demands immediate obedience.

In the Book of Acts, after receiving the Great Commission (Matt. 28:18-20) and the promise of the Holy Spirit (Acts 1:8), the early believers responded with immediate obedience. Matt. 4:19

They boldly proclaimed the message of Jesus’ resurrection. Despite the danger, they preached publicly and made disciples. Over 3,000 people were baptized in a single day (Acts 2:41), and the early Church grew rapidly. In and out of season. The response was quick and enthusiastic. The early Christians didn’t wait for the “perfect time” or ideal circumstances. They began immediately, preaching the Gospel wherever they went.

2. The mandate demands bold and sustained evangelism even through hard times and persecutions.

The early Christians faced intense persecution from both Jewish authorities and the Roman Empire, but this did not deter them. Rather, it strengthened their resolve to fulfil the mandate. Acts 4:18-20.

Acts 8:1-4: Following the martyrdom of Stephen, which triggered a great persecution against the Church, many believers were scattered throughout Judea and Samaria. While this was a painful time of persecution, it resulted in the spread of the Gospel. The scattered believers continued to preach the Word, fulfilling Jesus’ command to spread the Gospel beyond Jerusalem.

Despite the suffering, early Christians saw persecution as an opportunity to expand the message of Christ. The harder the persecution, the more they spread the Good News. Early Christians were willing to lay down their lives for the sake of the Gospel and to fulfil the mandate.

There was poverty in the Macedonian Church but, even in the hard times, they were still conscious of the mandate before them. 2 Cor. 8:3

3. The mandate requires relational/ personal evangelism. Acts 1:8

Evangelism through personal testimony and word of mouth

In the early Church, personal testimony was the primary method of spreading the Gospel. There was no internet, television, or social media, so believers relied heavily on word-of-mouth evangelism.

Acts 1:8: Jesus’ command to His disciples was to be witnesses of Him “in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.” The early Christians took this command seriously. They shared their personal experiences with Christ, told others about His death and resurrection, and invited people into a relationship with Him.

Acts 2:42-47: The early Christians shared their faith as part of their everyday life. Their genuine love for one another and devotion to the teachings of the apostles was a powerful testimony that drew people to Christ. Evangelism happened through personal relationships, where the message of the Gospel was shared informally within the community.

In essence, the early Church relied on relational evangelism—building relationships with others and sharing the hope of Christ naturally. This personal connection was often more powerful than institutional methods, as it reflected authenticity and trust.

4. The mandate is not for the pastors and ministers alone. It is a teamwork.

The early Church was marked by a team effort in fulfilling the believer’s mandate, and it wasn’t just the apostles but every believer who took part in spreading the message.

5. The mandate requires sacrificial living and sacrificial Giving.

Sacrificial Giving and Support for the Mission

The Early Christians understood that fulfilling the believer’s mandate required more than just evangelism; it required a sacrificial lifestyle. They gave of their resources, time, and even their lives for the fulfilment of the believer’s mandate.

Acts 4:32-37: The early believers in Jerusalem were known for their radical generosity. They sold their possessions and shared everything in common so that there were no needy people among them. This spirit of selflessness and community was an attractive witness to outsiders and demonstrated the power of the Gospel to transform lives.

2 Corinthians 8:1-5: The early Church, especially in places like Macedonia, gave generously to help the poor and to support missionaries like Paul. Even though they were living in poverty, they gave beyond their ability, showing the depth of their commitment to the cause of Christ.

Sacrificial giving was a key feature of the early Christians’ response to the believers’ mandate. They were willing to sacrifice their comfort and wealth for the sake of spreading the Gospel, showing that their faith was not just about words, but about action.

6. Fulfilling the mandate requires discipleship and purposeful fellowships. 2 Tim. 2:2.

The early Christians were deeply committed to making disciples. Their focus was not just on church attendance but on developing mature believers who could continue the work of spreading the Gospel. Acts 2:42-47

The early Christians believed that discipleship was essential to fulfilling the mandate. It was about more than preaching— it was about nurturing new believers, equipping them to live out the teachings of Jesus, and empowering them to spread the Gospel further.

Fulfilling the believer’s mandate requires a commitment to discipleship. Evangelism should always be followed by mentoring and equipping new believers to grow in their faith and become disciple-makers themselves. The mission doesn’t end with conversion—it continues through lifelong discipleship.

7. Fulfilling the believers’ mandate requires the presence and Power of the Holy Spirit. Acts 1:8, Acts 2:1-41

Prayer brings down the partnership of the Holy Spirit in fulfilling the Mandate. Acts 1:8, Jn. 15:5

Early Christians understood that prayer was crucial to the success of their mission. The mandate could not be carried out by human effort alone; it required the power of the Holy Spirit. Act 1:14, Eph. 6:19,20, Acts 4:29-33

Conclusion:

The early Christians and the early church provide an inspiring example of how to fulfil the believer’s mandate.The Christians of old responded to the believer’s mandate with fervent obedience, sacrifice, and a commitment to spreading the Gospel. Their zeal for the mission was not hindered by persecution or obstacles; rather, it propelled them to greater action. Through their bold evangelism, sacrificial giving, passionate discipleship, and reliance on prayer, the early Christians set a powerful example for the Church today.

Take up the mantle of the Great Commission and boldly proclaim the message of Christ to the world.

FROM PROPHECY TO DECREE

MEMORIZE:

“And God said, Let there be light: and there was light.” – Genesis 1:3

Read:  Psalm 33:6-9

6.  By the word of the Lord the heavens were made, And all the host of them by the breath of His mouth.

7.  He gathers the waters of the sea together as a heap; He lays up the deep in storehouses.

8.  Let all the earth fear the Lord; Let all the inhabitants of the world stand in awe of Him.

9.  For He spoke, and it was done; He commanded, and it stood fast.

MESSAGE:

Prophecies can be conditional. For instance, Isaiah 1:19 says that you will eat the good of the land if you are willing and obedient. Also, Isaiah 3:10 says, “Say ye to the righteous, that it shall be well with him…” However, when it comes to decrees, God does not attach conditions. In today’s memory verse, He said, “Let there be light,” and there was light.

There had been many prophecies concerning Abraham, including prophecies that he would be the father of many nations and that his children would be as many as the stars in the sky. However, in Genesis 18:14, God simply said, “In nine months’ time, Sarah will give birth to a son.” That is a clear example of turning a prophecy into a decree.

As a child of God, there is always something you need to do to turn prophecies into decrees. When you provoke a blessing from God, He is likely to turn the prophecies He has given you into decrees. To provoke God into doing this, you need to honour Him. Honouring God does not always have to do with material things. Abraham didn’t give his visitors any gifts; he simply honoured them by hosting them in his home. You can honour God by simply obeying His commands, such as His command to win souls Matthew 28:19-20. You can also honour Him by serving in your local assembly and honouring him with your firstfruits Proverbs 3:9.

Another way to honour God is by having faith in His Word. In Luke 7:1-10, when the centurion sent the elder of the Jews to plead with Jesus to come and heal his sick servant, Jesus was ready to do so until the man sent his friends to say, “Lord, you don’t have to come to my house because I believe Your word is just as powerful as You are. Just speak a word, and my servant will be healed” Luke 7:6-8. Jesus was amazed at the man’s faith, and his servant was healed immediately. Giving God thanks is yet another way to honour Him. In Luke 17:12-19, ten lepers cried out to Jesus for mercy, and He asked them to show themselves to the priests. They received their healing on the way, but only one of them returned to glorify God. Jesus then decreed his wholeness because he returned to give thanks.

Beloved, as you follow these principles, I pray that every good prophecy you have received will become a decree, in Jesus Christ Name! Amen.

Key Point:

You can provoke God into turning His prophecies concerning you into decrees by honouring Him.

PRAYER POINTS

1.  Creator of heavens and the earth, to You alone be all the glory and praise forevermore.

2.  Father, thank You for making Your Word come to pass and stand fast in my life.

3.  Father, help me never to dabble into what will make You change your good plans concerning my life in Jesus Name

4.  Father, hasten Your Word to perform it in my life in Jesus Name.

5.  Father, teach me how to richly honour You and Your children – whether rich or poor, literate or illiterate, young or old in Jesus Name.

6.  Father, put Your reverential fear in me and my children in Jesus Name.

7.  Father, in Your mercy command Your blessings into my life and lineage in Jesus Name.

Hymn 642: My Sins, O the Peace Giving Thought

My sins, O the peace giving thought,

Are buried beneath the wild wave,

Since god in His mercy has brought

His wonderful por to save

CHORUS

Thou will cast all their sins into the depths of the sea

‘Tis the word of the Lord, and sufficient for me,

Though the billows may roar and may break on the shore,

They are lost in its depths, and can reach me no more, of

The place where they’re buried,

Only God holds the key, In the depths, the depths of the sea

2:

No more shall they rise to distress,

Or trouble the peace of my soul,

As o’er them in power to bless

God’s waves of forgiveness shall roll

3:

No tempest can bring to the light

The sins He hath buried for aye

My soul is precious in His sight,

And He will protect it always.

Once was bound by sin’s galling fetters,

Chained like a slave I struggled in vain.

But I received a glorious freedom

When Jesus broke my fetters in twain,

CHORUS

Glorious freedom, wonderful freedom

No more in chains of sin repine

Jesus the glorious Emancipator

Now and forever He shall be mine.

2:

Freedom from all the carnal affections,

Freedom from envy hatred and strive

Freedom from vain and worldly ambitions

Freedom from all that sadden’d my life.

3:

Freedom from pride and all sinful follies

Freedom from love and glitter of gold

Freedom from evil temper and anger

Glorious freedom, rapture untold.

4:

Freedom from fear with all of its torments

Freedom from care with all of its pain

Freedom in Christ my blessed Redeemer

He who has sent my fetters in twain.

The Power of Grace

The Power of Grace!

By Dr Andre and Jenny Roebert

1 Corinthians 15:10 (NKJV)

1 Corinthians 15:10 (NKJV), “But by the grace of God I am what I am, and His grace toward me was not in vain; but I labored more abundantly than they all, yet not I, but the grace of God which was with me.”

Praise God for His grace! In 1 Peter 4:10, God’s grace is described as being many-sided, or multifaceted. In other words, there are many wonderful attributes to the grace of God that were all designed and purposed for the life of the believer. When it comes to receiving the gift of salvation, grace is understood as God’s undeserved favour and undeserved kindness towards us! Ephesians 2:8 says, “For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God,” Our good works or self-righteousness could never earn us salvation from the kingdom of darkness. Only the lifeblood of Jesus could redeem us from a life of being eternally separated from God. His undeserved favour and kindness towards us have opened a way for us to reconciled to God and live the life of faith and obedience that leads to victory, in every area of life! Another facet of the grace of God, which relates to our theme scripture today (1 Corinthians 15:10), is its supernatural empowerment for the believer! Through it, we are able to live that victorious life of faith we are called to. The Greek word for this side of grace is charis, and it’s described as a divine influence upon a heart, and its reflection in a life. Praise God! This is what Paul was boasting about! Paul didn’t just brag about the grace that was operating in his life, he learned how to increase its influence in him, unleash it, and put it to work. God’s grace gives every believer the power to live free from sin. It enables us to fully embrace the new life of overcoming victory we have in Christ Jesus! God’s grace empowers us to live by the revelation that we are the righteousness of God in Christ! That we are seated with Him in heavenly places, and that we have authority over the devil and all his works, that we have the mind of Christ to know the thoughts and intents of God – so we can fulfil every good work He has already planned for us to walk in! According to 2 Peter 1:2, we can increase the influence of grace in our lives, as Paul did, by growing in our knowledge of God and Jesus, through the Word, by His Holy Spirit. Acts 20:32 tells us that as we yield to the word (logos – written Word) of grace (charis – divine empowerment), it builds us up and grants us access to our inheritance in Christ. See the importance of knowing God more, so that like Paul, you can boast about the wonderful, empowering grace of God in your life too.

Desiring More in Life

Yet the Lord longs to be gracious to you; he rises to show you compassion. For the Lord is a God of justice. Blessed are all who wait for him!

Isaiah 30:18

The disciples prayed and they waited in the days after Jesus departed. There was no other alternative for them-no way could they go back to life the way it had been before Christ.

Their prayers and their waiting reaped for them a marvelous reward in the person of the Holy Spirit.

Their lives had been changed by walking with Jesus and hearing His teachings, but now they were also changed by the infilling of the Spirit who was poured out on that Pentecost morning.

Do you hunger and thirst for more in your life? The Holy Spirit wants to anoint you with His power.

He longs to give you victory over the trials and circumstances in your life that beset you. Above all, He longs to have intimate fellowship with you.

So today, in this season of Pentecost, open up your heart and ask the Holy Spirit to inundate you with His presence. Fellowship with Him. Allow Him to guide you in all you do. Commune with Him daily-He will never leave you nor forsake you.

I invite Jesus to become the Lord of my life, to rule and reign in my heart from this day forward. Please send Your Holy Spirit to help me obey You, and to do Your Will for the rest of my life. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.

Hymn 645: I’ve a Saviour, kind and tender,

I’ve a Saviour, kind and tender,

I’ve a Saviour full of grace,

And a smile of winning sweetness

Ever beams upon His face:

In my heart’s shrine of affection

He shall hold the highest place.

CHORUS

How I love Him! How I love Him

Since for me He bled and died

How I love Him, yes I love Him

More than all the world beside.

2:

For my sake He came from heaven

To this world of sin and shame;

Bore my guilt, though He was guiltless,

And though blameless, took my blame:

Can I ever cease to love Him,

And His goodness to proclaim?

3:

Though I’ve often been unworthy,

He has constant been, and true;

Though I wronged Him, He forgave me

When I would my vows renew;

Though I spumed Him, He with kindness

My rebellious heart did woo.

4:

I’ve a Saviour, kind and tender,

He would be your Saviour too;

Will you not accept the pardon

Which He freely offers you?

Take Him now as your Redeemer;

Earth has not a friend so true.

Thank You Jesus,

Urgent prayer request: Christians in Northern Nigeria face severe persecution, violence, and displacement due to their faith. Pray for their safety

Being a Christian in Northern Nigeria is very dangerous.

Many Christians face, violence, and attacks just because of their faith. Their churches are sometimes burned down, and they are forced to leave their homes for safety.

The danger is very real, and many Christians live in constant fear of being hurt or killed. Please always keep them in your prayers!

Yesterday, precious lives were cut short in a fresh attack. Several homes were burnt. Families shattered. Dreams ended. The pain is unbearable.

Their only “crime” was being born in a land constantly under siege.

Hymn 646: O what a wonderful, wonderful day

O what a wonderful, wonderful day

Day I will never forget;

After I’d wandered in darkness away,

Jesus my Saviour I met.

O what a tender, compassionate friend –

He met the need of my heart;

Shadows dispelling, With joy I am telling,

He made all the darkness depart !

CHORUS

Heaven came down and glory fill my soul,

When at the cross the Saviour made me whole;

My Sins were washed away

And my night was tuned to day

Heaven came down and glory filled my soul!

2:

Born of the Spirit with life from above

Into God’s family divine,

Justified fully thru Calvary’s love,

O what a standing is mine!

And the transaction so quickly was made

When as a sinner I came,

Took of the offer Of grace He did proffer –

He saved me, O praise His dear name!

3:

Now I’ve a hope that will surely endure

After the passing of time;

I have a future in heaven for sure,

There in those mansions sublime.

And it’s because of that wonderful day

When at the cross I believed;

Riches eternal And blessings supernal

From His precious hand I received.

Nigeria is radicalizing the Igbo, one injustice at a time

Nigeria is radicalizing the Igbo, one injustice at a time.

By Abolaji Rasaq

@bolazeal

There’s something about persecution that does two things to a people: it either breaks them, or it makes them beasts of survival.

For centuries, they were hunted, hated, and humiliated by empires. But they didn’t vanish. They evolved. They adapted. And today, the Jews are arguably the most powerful tribe in the world economically, intellectually, and politically. Ruthless when necessary.

They are unapologetic about their survival. Now, look at the Igbo. A tribe known for industry, resilience, and brilliance. A people who just want to live, do business, and thrive. But Nigeria doesn’t want that. Nigeria wants control.

Nigeria wants submission. And the one thing the Igbo have never known how to do is bow. And that’s the real issue. So what does Nigeria do? It sidelines them. Isolates them. Provokes them. Bombs their villages under the guise of security.

Locks up their agitators. Shuts down their businesses. Mocks their pain. Ignores their history. Prevent them from voting. Playing politics with their education. Sponsored bigotry on them. And then Nigeria pretends to be surprised that there’s growing radicalization in the East?

Let me be clear: The Igbo didn’t start this fire. Nigeria did. And history, the very same history we keep refusing to learn from, has shown us that when you keep pushing a tribe that knows how to survive, they evolve into something stronger, something unstoppable.

It’s happened before. With the Jews. Europe tried to exterminate them. Instead, they became the backbone of global finance, media, tech, and diplomacy. You don’t touch a Jew today without consequences. You don’t push them to the wall and expect them to stay quiet.

Now Nigeria is doing the same to the Igbo, pushing, prodding, provoking. But here’s the warning: when you push an animal to the wall, it doesn’t stay calm. It fights back. It bites. And this time, when it bites, don’t act shocked.

But this isn’t just about the Igbo solely. Nigeria has perfected the art of creating monsters, then acting surprised when they bite. The Niger Delta? Radicalized. The region was exploited for oil, polluted beyond repair, and ignored until their youths picked up arms.

The Fulani terrorists? Radicalized. Left behind by the same government that claimed to represent them, now manipulated by religion and resentment.

The Almajiri? Radicalized. Abandoned by an elite that used their poverty as a vote bank and then left them to rot. The Agbero? Radicalized. Uneducated, weaponized, and unleashed as tools of political chaos.

Even the middle class is slowly being radicalized, not with guns, but with hopelessness. That, too, is a ticking time bomb.

A nation cannot continue to marginalize its most brilliant tribe and expect peace. The Igbo are not docile. They are not quiet. They are not forgetful. They are survivors, and survivors don’t beg for space forever. At some point, they take it.

The Igbo didn’t set out to be radicals. They were made into one by a country that won’t stop seeing their confidence as a threat. You can’t keep pretending unity means silence. You can’t keep preaching peace while planting injustice.

The Igbo are not asking for too much, they just want to live, build, and grow. But if you insist on turning their dignity into defiance, their enterprise into enmity, and their survival into sedition, then you are creating a monster.

And if history has taught us anything, it’s this: when a persecuted people decide that survival is no longer enough, when they decide to stop running and start resisting, they don’t just fight back. They win.

Nigeria must understand this: you cannot keep pushing people into a corner and expect submission. When you back a lion into a wall, don’t expect it to purr. It will roar. It will claw. It will tear through anything standing between it and freedom.

So here’s the final warning, for those who still care to listen: Nigeria is radicalizing the Igbo. But worse, Nigeria is radicalizing everyone. And it won’t end well.

When the fire spreads, when the rebellion multiplies, when the beast we created begins to fight back, don’t act shocked; no tribe will be left untouched. Don’t pretend it wasn’t preventable. We all made it happen. You don’t corner a lion and expect peace.

Listening to God

By Dr André and Jenny Roebert

1 Samuel 3:10 (NKJV), “Now the Lord came and stood and called as at other times, ‘Samuel! Samuel!’. And Samuel answered, ‘Speak, for Your servant hears.”

At a young age, as a fulfilled promise made by his mother, Samuel was brought to serve in the house of the Lord, under Eli, the priest. At that time, the Bible says the spoken Word of the Lord was rare, and there had been no widespread revelation from Him (1 Samuel 3:1). 1 Samuel 3:7 says, “(Now Samuel did not yet know the Lord, nor was the word of the Lord yet revealed to him.)” In other words, even though he worked and lived with Eli, the priest, Samuel hadn’t yet experienced a direct revelation from or heard the voice of the Lord. Which explains why it didn’t immediately occur to him that it was God’s voice he heard when His name was called out three consecutive times in the night. After the third account, Eli realized the voice Samuel had heard, was the Lord Himself. This would be the very first time Samuel would have a personal encounter with the Word of God. Interestingly, Eli’s two sons, Hophni and Phinehas, who worked in the house of the Lord, were also said to not have known the Lord (1 Samuel 2:12). They knew enough about the Lord to serve the people on His behalf. Only, they had no regard for Him and certainly did not fear Him. All of Israel knew of their wickedness, of how they profaned God’s sacrifices and sinned against the people in their work as priests. So, the evening Samuel first heard God’s voice, began a relationship with Him in a way Eli’s sons never had. What a noticeable difference between Samuel’s willing and immediate obedience to the Lord, compared to Eli’s sons’ contempt for Him. As a result, God judged Eli and his son’s, but He was with Samuel and revealed Himself to him. Romans 8:14 says the sons of God are led by His Spirit. Because we are born-again, we are able to hear the voice of the Holy Spirit within us. When we remain sensitive and attentive to His voice and are quick to respond to His leading – we walk in the full benefits of our relationship with Him. However, if we choose to disregard His voice, and only listen when it suits us, we will find our relationship with Him grow cold. Our ability to hear His voice will weaken, as our desire for the things of this world takes precedence over our desire for His manifest Presence. Turn your heart towards the Lord today, determine to quieten every distraction and lean in close to hear His heart, and adore Him. You have ears to hear – so listen as He reveals Himself to you.

Let’s Talk About Some Of Our Loved Ones And Their Body Odor

At what point do you say to yourself “Hi! This person, this marriage, this relationship means a lot to me than his/her dragon breathe, pungent odor or putrid veevee?”

There’s pretty lady I know, I always wonder if she will ever found true love, even all the cologne of antiseptic she wears, can’t mask her body odor, and I think hers is a medical issue.

I think it is easier for a woman to stay with a man that has odor, than a man with a woman that has body odor.

Every time I see this certain man kiss his wife, I wonder if she throws up later.

He has a dragon breath

At what point would you overlook the offensive smell and get to love the person for who he or she is?

Hymn 648: I’ve believed the true report

1:

I’ve believed the true report,

Hallelujah to the Lamb!

I have passed the outer court,

O glory be to God!

I am all on Jesus’ side,

On the altar sanctified,

To the world and sin I’ve died,

Hallelujah to the Lamb !

CHORUS

Hallelujah! Hallelujah!

I have passed the riven vail,

Where the glories never fail,

Hallelujah! Hallelujah!

I am living in the presence of the King.

2:

I’m a King and priest to God,

Hallelujah to the Lamb!

By the cleansing of the blood,

O glory be to God!

By the Spirit’s power and light,

I am living day and night,

In the holiest place so bright,

Hallelujah to the Lamb!

3:

I’m within the holiest place,

Hallelujah to the Lamb!

I have passed the inner vail,

O glory be to God!

I am sanctified to God

By the power of the blood,

Now the Lord is my abode,

Hallelujah to the Lamb!

CONTENTMENT

There was a father who was known by his family to be a chronic growler. He complained about everything.  He was sitting one day with his family in the presence of a guest in the living room when the subject of food came up.

One of the children, a little girl, was telling the guest what food each member of the family liked best.

Finally,  it came to the father’s turn to be described.  “And what do I like, Nancy?” he asked.

“You,” said the little girl slowly, “well, what you like most is anything we haven’t got.”

There are some people like that, who simply are never content.  If they’re served one food, they want something else.  If it’s hot outside, they want it to be cold.  If it’s cold, they want it to be hot.  And they’d rather be ANYWHERE else other than where they’re living right now!

To the young man Timothy, Paul wrote, “Now godliness with contentment is great gain.  For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out.  And having food and clothing, we shall be content.” (I Timothy 6:6-8).  Since most of us seem to need far more than that to be content, we are challenged by Paul’s words!

But, to Paul, they weren’t just words to be spoken and discussed.  They were words to be lived out.  Despite the fact that Paul was writing from prison, he was able to say, “I have learned in whatever state I am, to be content.” (Philippians 4:11).  In the next verse, he said that he had learned to be content with a lot (which would be easy for most of us), but he was also content with little.  The reason he could be content because he had Jesus Christ, and that was all he needed to bring contentment.

Do you have food?  Do you have clothing?  More importantly, do you have Jesus?

Have a contented day!

Salvation Prayers

If you don’t Know Jesus as your personal Lord and Saviour and would like to accept him into your life as your personal Lord and Saviour, Please say this prayer:

Father, I know that I have broken your laws and my sins have separated me from You. I am truly sorry, and now I want to turn away from my past sinful life toward You. Please forgive me, and help me avoid sinning again. I believe that Your son, Jesus Christ died for my sins, was resurrected from the dead, is alive, and hears my prayer. I invite Jesus to become the Lord of my life, to rule and reign in my heart from this day forward. Please send Your Holy Spirit to help me obey You, and to do Your Will for the rest of my life. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.

Hymn 649: I remember when my burdens rolled away

1:

I remember when my burdens roll’d away,

I had carried them for years, night and day!

When I sought the blessed Lord,

and I took Him at His Word,

Then at once all my burdens roll’d away.

CHORUS

Roll’d away, roll’d away,

I am happy since my burdens roll’d away;

Roll’d away, roll’d away;

I am happy since my burdens roll’d away.

2:

I remember when my burdens roll’d away,

That I fear’d would never leave night or day;

Jesus show’d to me the loss, so

I left them at the cross;

I was glad when my burdens roll’d away.

3:

I remember when my burdens roll’d away,

That had hinder’d me for years, night and day;

As I sought the throne of grace,

just a glimpse of Jesus’ face,

And I knew that my burdens could not stay.

4:

I am singing since my burdens roll’d away,

There’s a song within my heart night and day;

I am living for my King,

and with joy I shout and sing,

Hallelujah! all my burdens roll’d away.

Thank You Jesus,
