FRUIT BEARING

Psalms_1-3: And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper

Proverbs_11-30: The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life; and he that winneth souls is wise

TEXT: Matthew 3: 8-10.

 
INTRODUCTION:

One of the reasons why God chose us is to bear fruits. Why must we bear fruits and conditions for effective fruit bearing is our focus today?

WHY MUST WE BEAR FRUITS?

 
(i) Fruit bearing is a must for every Christian. Jn 15: 16

 
(ii) Unfruitfulness is a sign of worldliness. 1 Jn 2: 15.

 
(iii) Unfruitfulness is a misuse of talents, an avenue for the Lord’s disappointment, divine judgment and final rejection. Lk 13: 6-7; Lk 19: 20-26; Matt 3: 10; Heb 6: 7-8.

 
CONDITIONS FOR FRUIT BEARING.
(i) Perpetual contact with Jesus Christ. Ps 1: 1-3; Jn 15: 5-7; Phil 4: 13.
(ii) Being dead to the old life. Jn 12: 24; Gal 2: 20.

 
(iii) Constant spiritual polishing. Jn 15: 2.

 
(iv) Have understanding of Jesus Christ. Matt 13: 23.

 
CONCLUSION:

You are chosen purposely to bear fruits. Therefore justify your choice. And remember one of the greatest secrets of answered prayers is constant and regular fruit-bearing.

Galatians_5-22: But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith
