A FAMILY IN ACTIVE WITNESS FOR THE LORD

 

 

 

TEXT: Matthew 10: 32-33.

 

 
INTRODUCTION:

God instituted marriage for the sole purpose of partnership, purity, procreation and fellowship. The Christian family is meant to actively witness the fulfillment of these purposes. The husband (father), wife (mother) and children must play their roles well as active witnesses of the Lord and together as the bedrock of the church of God.

 

 
IN ACTIVE WITNESS BY WORDS AND WORKS

 
As members of Christian homes, the father, mother and children are required to be active witnesses for Christ by words. Acts 2: 38-40, Jn 4: 28-29; 2 Kgs 5: 2-4.
Also, the entire family members are required to witness for Christ through their works/exemplary lifestyles.

 
Husband (Fathers) are required to witness Jesus Christ by being sober- minded, grave, temperate, sound in faith and love, patient and care for the home. Titus 2: 2; Eph 5: 25-33.

 

Wives (Mothers) should witness Jesus Christ by being holy, not false accusers, sober-minded, love their husbands and children, submissive and obedient to their husbands, discreet, keeper of home, home builder. Titus 2: 4-5; 1 Pet 3: 4-5; Eph 5: 22-24. Children should witness by being sincere, sober-minded to parents, be of good work, be of good speech, be of pure heart, devoid of evil. Titus 2: 6-8; Eph 6: 1-3.

 

 
CONCLUSION:

Believers in Christ – father, mother and children must witness Christ.
