Don’t Sit with Those Who Ridicule God’s People.

A BLESSED MAN

Psalm 1:1 A blessed man does not…sits in the seat of the scornful/mockers:

Good morning friends. All glory be to God that we are still alive till date.

RESIST THE SEAT OF THE SCORNFUL

The scornful love to sit and criticize the people of God and the things of God. The righteous man must not sit in that seat!

When others are putting down Christians, it is easy to sit with them and criticize the Christians. It is easy because there are many things to criticize about Christians, most especially our leaders, but it is wrong.

Instead, we should be proud to follow Jesus Christ and be identified with Him.

Be out-and-out for Him; unfurl and show your true colours that you belong to Jesus.

Let all those scorners/mockers who ridicule the saints know that you have been sold out to Christ, body, soul and spirit.

Charles Spurgeon said, ‘If you have any ill words for the followers of Christ, pour them out upon me…but know this – ye shall hear it whether you like it or not because ‘I love Christ.’

Some unregenerate fellows always talk to people (especially public servants, their subordinates) like animals as if the people they are talking to have no sense.

It becomes worrisome when those who professed to be believers associate with such scorners and behave in a like manner.

Paul describes this cruelty in Romans 3:13 “Their throat is an open sepulchre; with their tongues they have used deceit; the poison of asps is under their lips:”

Psalms 140:3 says, “They have sharpened their tongues like a serpent; adders’ poison is under their lips.”

King Solomon said in Proverbs 3:33 – 34 that The curse of the LORD is in the house of the wicked: but he blesseth the habitation of the just.

Surely he scorneth the scorners: but he giveth grace unto the lowly.

What he is saying is that scorners are proud and James 4:6 tells us that “…God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble”.

A scornful person is an arrogant person. They think of themselves as better than others and treat them accordingly.

Characteristics of the Scornful

a. Proverbs 14.9 – they make a mockery of sin.

b. Proverbs 19:28 – An ungodly witness scorneth judgment:

c. Proverbs 21:24 tells us that the scorner is proud, haughty, incorrigible or past reproof.

d. The scorner hates being rebuked/corrected.

e. Wisdom and knowledge easily elude him.

f. The scorner is despicable and repulsive to all men

A good way to get rid of strife and contention is not to associate with the scorner.

The scorner cannot escape judgment unless he repents.

Friend, if you want to receive the blessings of God, you must avoid sitting with the scornful.

You must refuse to be sitting around, criticizing, condemning or making fun of people.

Be careful not to wrongly criticize, belittle, or make fun of the less fortunate.

How Can You Avoid Sitting With The Scorners/Mockers?

It is very simple:

Accept Jesus as your Lord and personal Saviour.

Give your life to Jesus.

Be addicted to Bible study.

Until tomorrow if Jesus tarries and He permits when we shall continue with this study, I say have a wonderful day in Jesus name.
