An Effective Prayer Life.

Matthew_21-22: And all things, whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive.

Then Jesus told his disciples a parable to teach them that they should always pray and never become discouraged.

2 “In a certain town there was a judge who neither feared God nor respected people.

3 And there was a widow in that same town who kept coming to him and pleading for her rights, saying, ‘Help me against my opponent!’

4 For a long time the judge refused to act, but at last he said to himself, ‘Even though I don’t fear God or respect people,

5 yet because of all the trouble this widow is giving me, I will see to it that she gets her rights. If I don’t, she will keep on coming and finally wear me out!’”

6 And the Lord continued, “Listen to what that corrupt judge said.

7 Now, will God not judge in favor of his own people who cry to him day and night for help? Will he be slow to help them?

8 I tell you, he will judge in their favor and do it quickly. But will the Son of Man find faith on earth when he comes?”
Luke 18:1-8

And he spake a parable unto them to this end, that men ought always to pray, and not faint. (Luke 18:1)
This year calls for much prayer. There has to be an increase in your prayer life as compared to last year. You should keep praying about your desires and not give up until the answer comes. Don’t forget the fact that the effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much (James 5:16). Be diligent in your prayer life this year and be determined to keep times of prayer with the Lord. If the unrighteous judge could harking to the persistent cry of the woman, God will certainly Harken to your persistent prayer. When the answer does not come immediately, do not be discouraged, for the delay to your prayer being answered does not mean denial. Keep knocking at the door and it shall be opened unto you.
May the Lord find you still believing that He is the Rewarder of those who diligently seek Him. Continue in prayer and pray without ceasing. Pray for an effective prayer life this year. Live with a continuous attitude of prayer, worship and thanksgiving. You will find rest, in Jesus’ name.

May God Empower You To Live A Victorious Life This Year In Jesus Name. Amen.

1-John_5-4-3: For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith

After Lot had left, the Lord said to Abram, “From where you are, look carefully in all directions. 15 I am going to give you and your descendants all the land that you see, and it will be yours forever.
Genesis 13:14-15

So Abraham departed as the Lord has spoken to him, and Lot went with him ……(Genesis 12:4)
When God directed Abraham to leave his people and move to where He would show him (Genesis 12:1-3, Genesis 12: 6-7), he took his nephew, Lot, along with him. We do not see in the scriptures where God told him to go with Lot. There came a time that the land was not able to bear them because their substances were great and they could not dwell together and so had to separate (Genesis 13:5-12). It was when Lot was separated from Abraham that the Lord told Abraham to lift up his eyes and see the blessings He has for him. Is there a Lot in your life hindering you or hindering the Lord from performing that which He has promised you? Your Lot may not be a human being; it may be a vice in your life: smoking, drunkenness, womanising, cheating, lying, anger, stealing, backbiting etc.
Examine your life and see that thing or person that you need to separate from so that the blessings of God for you this year will be made manifest in your life. May God empower you to live a victorious life this year in Jesus name. Amen.

Make It Your Ambition To Live A Quiet Life.

Psalms_16-11: Thou wilt shew me the path of life: in thy presence is fulness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore.

Make it your aim to live a quiet life, to mind your own business, and to earn your own living, just as we told you before. 12 In this way you will win the respect of those who are not believers, and you will not have to depend on anyone for what you need.
1 Thessalonians 4:11-12

Successful people have two things on their lips, “SMILE AND SILENCE“. Smile can solve a problem, Silence can avoid problems. Sugar and salt may be mixed together but ants reject the salt and carry away only the sugar. Select the right people in life and make your life better and sweeter. If you fail to achieve your dreams, change your ways not your God. Remember, trees change their leaves and not their roots. You will never reach your destination if you stop and throw stones at every dog that barks. Haters will see you walking on water and say it’s because you can’t swim. Even if you dance on water, your enemies will accuse you of raising dust. Make it your ambition to live a quiet life, to mind your own business and to work with your own hands. Remember; don’t ever wrestle with a pig. You’ll both get dirty, but the pig will enjoy it.

Isaiah_60-1: Arise, shine; for thy light is come, and the glory of the LORD is risen upon thee

No other name like the name of Jesus, He is worthy of glory, He is worthy of honor. We thank God for what He has done and He is doing for mankind, Hallelujah!!! God shall shine His light upon you, every picture of elevation and advancement in your heart will come to manifestation in Jesus name. What Does The Bible Say About Gambling?

Hebrews_13-5:Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.

Prayer.
Father, deliver me and my fellow believers from the evil spirit of covetousness. Help us to be content with our resources, in Jesus Christ Name, Amen!

Bible Passage.

1 Timothy 6:6-12
6: But godliness with contentment is great gain.
7: For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out.
8: And having food and raiment let us be therewith content.
9: But they that will be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and hurtful lusts, which drown men in destruction and perdition.
10: For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.
11: But thou, O man of God, flee these things; and follow after righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, meekness.
12: Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses.

Memory Verse:
Heb: 13:5
Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.

The word GAMBLE means ‘to risk something of value on an outcome that depends on chance’
Other related activities to gambling are betting, lotto/lottery, gaming, casinos,’money doubling’ and ‘get rich quick’ programmes, among others.
Because the outcomes of these activities ‘depend on chance’ and doing them involves ‘risk’ then, by defition, they are all gambling. Although, the Bible does not specifically condemn gambling, betting, or the lottery, it does warn us, however, to stay away from the love of money. 1Tim 6:10; Heb 13:5. Scripture also encourages us to stay away from attempts to ‘get rich quick’ Proverbs 13:11; Proverbs 23:5; Eccl 5:10.
Gambling most definitely is focused on the love of money and undeniably tempts people with the promise of quick and easy riches. Jesus warns us against letting riches get in the way of our spiritual benefit. Mark 4:19; Mark 10:25 and that we cannot serve both God and money’ Luke 16:13

Instances Of Gambling In The Bible.
Staking of riddle or casting lot was found in the Bible:
I. Samson staked a riddle for a thirty change of garment. Judges 14:12-13
II. The soldiers cast lot over the garment of Jesus. John 19:24
III. Casting lot was used as option to select between the sacrificial goat and the scape goat. Lev 16:8
IV. Joshua cast lot to determine the allotment of land to various tribes. Joshua 18:10;
V. Nehemiah cast lot to determine who will live inside the wall of Jerusalem. Acts 1:26.
VI. Although people cast lot to take decision but best decisions are those taken by the Lord or guided by the Holy Spirit
VII. The lot is cast into the lap, but the decision is wholly of the Lord. Even the events that seem accidental are really ordered by the Lord. Prov. 16:33
VIII. Lot casting here is not synonymous to testing of luck or to gain material wealth
IX. Lot casting has to do with making a decision from alternative from the biblical perspective and not for ‘luck’ or chance or to make quick money. The Bible message says. ‘Make your motions and cast your votes, but God has the final say’. Prov. 16:33

Reasons For Gambling And Its Consequences.
I. Love of money
People test their luck with numbers to get money. However, such hopes are mostly empty. Eccl 5:10-15
II. Covetousness for material gains or what money can buy. Many gamblers and lottery players are deep in material gains which God forbids. Exod 20:17; 1 Tim 6:10
III. Those who engage in get-rich quick schemes stand the risk of losing everything. ‘Do not set your eyes on that which is not real, riches certainly make themselves wings and fly away. Prov 3:5
IV. Studies show that many lottery winners ended up in worse financial situation after the jackpot. Apostle Paul wrote ‘And they pieced themselves through with many sorrows. 1 Tim 6:10
V. Those who are desperate of getting rich quickly believe that they will always win. 1 Tim 6:9; Prov 1:32. ‘…. Drowned men in destruction and perdition’ 1 Tim 6:9.

Biblical Counsel For Believers.
I. God wants His people to prosper Ps 35:27; 3 John 2 and to earn their money honestly by working hard. [2 Thess 3:10]. We ought to gain wealth through diligence, as a gift from the Lord. ‘ Lazy hands make for poverty, but diligent hands bring wealth’’ Prov. 10:4
II. Jesus teaches, No one can serve two masters. Either you will hate the one and love the other, or you will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money. Luke 16:13. Do not join the multitude to do evil. Exo 23:2
III. In 1 Tim 6:10, we find the famous warning that love of money is the root of all kinds of evil. Proceeds from gambling/lottery/betting do not please God- Prov 13:11. God is sovereign and will provide for the needs of the Church through honest means.
IV. Money and material wealth should not be the primary pursuit of a believer; rather, it should be the kingdom of God and righteousness. Matt 6:33
V. Money should not be wasted. Excess money should be saved for future needs or given to the needy and the Lord’s work, not gambled away. Prov 19:17; Ex 35:5

Do not gamble your money, materials and life.

CONCLUSION
Be satisfied with your resources and believe God for increase.

Prayers.
I. Father, prosper me in your own way and time, in the name of Jesus.
II. O Heaven of my prosperity, open by fire, in the name of Jesus
III. O God, arise and empower me to prosper, in the name of Jesus
IV. Every power seating on my wealth, fall down and die, in the name of Jesus
V. Foundational poverty, die, in the name of Jesus
VI. O Stars of my destiny, arise and shine this year, in the name of Jesus
VII. Blood of Jesus, wipe off all handwriting of failure in my life, in the name of Jesus.
VIII. Blood of Jesus, wipe off all handwriting of poverty in my life, in the name of Jesus.

Proverbs_11-30: The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life; and he that winneth souls is wise

1. Take risks in your life. If you win, you can lead; if you lose, you can guide.

2. People are not what they say but what they do; so judge them not from their words but from their actions.

3. When someone hurts you, don’t feel bad because it’s a law of nature that the tree that bears the sweetest fruits gets maximum number of stones.

4. Take whatever you can from your life because when life starts taking from you, it takes even your last breath.

5. In this world, people will always throw stones on the path of your success. It depends on what you make from them – a wall or a bridge.

6. Challenges make life interesting; overcoming them make life meaningful.

7. There is no joy in victory without running the risk of defeat.

8. A path without obstacles leads nowhere.

9. Past is a nice place to visit but certainly not a good place to stay.

10. You can’t have a better tomorrow if you are thinking about yesterday all the time.

11. If what you did yesterday still looks big to you, then you haven’t done much today.

12. If you don’t build your dreams, someone else will hire you to build theirs.

13. If you don’t climb the mountain; you can’t view the plain.

14. Don’t leave it idle – use your brain.

15. You are not paid for having brain, you are only rewarded for using it intelligently.

16. It is not what you don’t have that limits you; it is what you have but don’t know how to use.

17. What you fail to learn might teach you a lesson.

18. The difference between a corrupt person and an honest person is: The corrupt person has a price while the honest person has a value.

19. If you succeed in cheating someone, don’t think that the person is a fool. Realize that the person trusted you much more than you deserved.

20. Honesty is an expensive gift; don’t expect it from cheap people.

Luke_12-6: Are not five sparrows sold for two farthings, and not one of them is forgotten before God?

Exodus 3:1-7

“I have surely seen the oppression of my people who are in Egypt, and have heard their cry because of their taskmasters, for l know their sorrows.”
Exodus 3:7

The children of Israel found themselves in a very terrible situation which made them very sorrowful. They sighed and cried unto the Lord, and their cry came unto God. (Exodus 2:23).
In Psalm 115:12-13, it is written, “The Lord has been mindful of us; He will bless us; He will bless the house of Israel; He will bless the house of Aaron. He will bless those who fear the Lord, Both small and great.”
Have you been praying about an unpleasant situation and there seems to be no change? Have you become so sorrowful about it and you want to give up your faith in God? Are you beginning to feel that God has forgotten you? Listen to this from Isaiah 49:15-16, “Can a woman forget her nursing child, And not have compassion on the son of her womb? Surely they may forget, Yet I will not forget you. See l have inscribed you on the palms of My hands; Your walls are continually before Me.”
Hold on and don’t give up for God has seen your situation. Your time is not God’s time. He will attend to you in due season. He is mindful of you and very, very soon your desired help will get to you. He is your Help and your Shield. He will NEVER abandon you.

Let us pray:
Father we commit our ways to You; help us and guide us and order our steps through our journey of life. You are our rock and in You is all our trust. In Jesus name. Amen.

Even The Storms Obey Jesus.

Mark_9-23-1: Jesus said unto him, If thou canst believe, all things are possible to him that believeth

Mark 4:39

Text:
And the same day, when the even was come, he saith unto them, Let us pass over unto the other side.
36 And when they had sent away the multitude, they took him even as he was in the ship. And there were also with him other little ships.
37 And there arose a great storm of wind, and the waves beat into the ship, so that it was now full.
38 And he was in the hinder part of the ship, asleep on a pillow: and they awake him, and say unto him, Master, carest thou not that we perish?
39 And he arose, and rebuked the wind, and said unto the sea, Peace, be still. And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm.
40 And he said unto them, Why are ye so fearful? how is it that ye have no faith?
41 And they feared exceedingly, and said one to another, What manner of man is this, that even the wind and the sea obey him?
Mark 4:35-41

Introduction:
A storm is defined in the Dictionary as “A Disturbance of the atmosphere marked by strong winds, rain, snow, hail, sleet, thunder and lightning.”

The peaceful atmosphere of many Christians is sometimes disturbed by satanic induced violent winds called spiritual storm. In the text above, storm arose even in the midst of their journey on water but because Jesus was in the ship with the disciples; they were saved.

Storms Of Life Could Be In Many Forces:
1. Storm of one’s destiny – Joseph Genesis 39:1-23
2. Storm of procreation – Sarah and Hannah 1 Samuel 1:2-20
3. Storm of poverty and lack – Widow of Zarephath
1 Kings 17:10-16
So he arose and went to Zarephath. And when he came to the gate of the city, behold, the widow woman was there gathering of sticks: and he called to her, and said, Fetch me, I pray thee, a little water in a vessel, that I may drink.

11 And as she was going to fetch it, he called to her, and said, Bring me, I pray thee, a morsel of bread in thine hand.

12 And she said, As the Lord thy God liveth, I have not a cake, but an handful of meal in a barrel, and a little oil in a cruse: and, behold, I am gathering two sticks, that I may go in and dress it for me and my son, that we may eat it, and die.

13 And Elijah said unto her, Fear not; go and do as thou hast said: but make me thereof a little cake first, and bring it unto me, and after make for thee and for thy son.

14 For thus saith the Lord God of Israel, The barrel of meal shall not waste, neither shall the cruse of oil fail, until the day that the Lord sendeth rain upon the earth.

15 And she went and did according to the saying of Elijah: and she, and he, and her house, did eat many days.

16 And the barrel of meal wasted not, neither did the cruse of oil fail, according to the word of the Lord, which he spake by Elijah.

4. Storm of slavery and oppression – Children of Israel in Egypt.
Exodus 2:23-25.
And it came to pass in process of time, that the king of Egypt died: and the children of Israel sighed by reason of the bondage, and they cried, and their cry came up unto God by reason of the bondage.

24 And God heard their groaning, and God remembered his covenant with Abraham, with Isaac, and with Jacob.

25 And God looked upon the children of Israel, and God had respect unto them.

God Is Able To Bring You Out Of Every Storm.

Matthew 19:26

But Jesus beheld [them], and said unto them, With men this is impossible; but with God all things are possible.

For with God nothing shall be impossible.

I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.

John 3:16

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

Conclusion:
No matter the type of storm you are passing through, all you need to stop and calm the storm is to have Jesus in the ship of your life. The disciples were afraid because they did not immediately run to Jesus. Today, if you can run to the storm calmer, Jesus, that storm will experience miraculous calm in Jesus’ name.

The Gifts Of Holy Spirit.

Psalms_51-11: Cast me not away from thy presence; and take not thy holy spirit from me.

Text:
Now concerning spiritual gifts, brethren, I would not have you ignorant.
2 Ye know that ye were Gentiles, carried away unto these dumb idols, even as ye were led.
3 Wherefore I give you to understand, that no man speaking by the Spirit of God calleth Jesus accursed: and that no man can say that Jesus is the Lord, but by the Holy Ghost.
4 Now there are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit.
5 And there are differences of administrations, but the same Lord.
6 And there are diversities of operations, but it is the same God which worketh all in all.
7 But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to every man to profit withal.
8 For to one is given by the Spirit the word of wisdom; to another the word of knowledge by the same Spirit;
9 To another faith by the same Spirit; to another the gifts of healing by the same Spirit;
10 To another the working of miracles; to another prophecy; to another discerning of spirits; to another divers kinds of tongues; to another the interpretation of tongues:
11 But all these worketh that one and the selfsame Spirit, dividing to every man severally as he will.
1 Corinthians 12:1-11

Introduction:
The Bible teaches us that there are certain gifts that only the Holy Spirit give (1 Corinthians 12:7-10). The gifts of the Holy Spirit as we read in the above main text are basically nine and they are further divided into three categories namely:
1. Revelation Gift
Category comprising: (A) The Word of Wisdom.
(B) The Word of Knowledge, and
(C) The Discerning of Spirit.
2. Inspirational Gift
(A) Prophecy.
(B) Different kinds of tongues, and
(C) The Interpretation of tongues.
3. Power Gift.
(A) The Gift of Faith.
(B) The Gift of Healing, and
(C) The Gifts of working of miracles.
These gifts are available to any genuine believer who has enough faith to ask for it, believing that he will get it. For it is written in Matthew 5:6 “Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness; for they shall be filled.”
Similarly Matthew 7:7 enjoins us to ask and further assures us that it shall be given to us while Matthew 7:11 show the readiness of our Heavenly Father to release His Gifts to us.

Conclusion:
God is still looking for whom to entrust His Gift to; can you seriously promise Him that you will use the gift(s) (if given to you) for His Kingdom work alone and not commercialized same but would return all the glory to Him? Are you also prepared to live holy throughout your life? Then talk it to God, the Holy Spirit will search your heart and give as He will (1 Corinthians 12:11).

Praise Him for the integrity of His word, The power of Prophesies, His faithfulness to all generations Psa. 33:11, Psalm 100:5
Thank God for His goodness, mercies and faithfulness in fulfilling His counsel for the Church, Rev 3:14, Is 25:1
Father: Behold their threatening Acts 4:21, and defend the city as you defended Judah and Hezekiah, (Isa 37:35-38) and as you defended Judah and Jehoshaphat (2 Chr 20:20-22)
Meditate on these scriptures and ask God to fulfill His promises
1. 2Ki. 19:34 For I will defend this city, to save it, for mine own sake, and for my servant David’s sake.

2. Isa. 38:6 And I will deliver thee and this city out of the hand of the king of Assyria: and I will defend this city.

Father please wake up Your Church from sleep and slumber and let her be sensitive and sensible to prepare as Your coming is at hand Luk 19:41-44, Rev 3:15-16

Father remove anything and everything that will hinder me and my household from reigning with You

Let Us Go In The Power Of The Holy Spirit.

Matthew_28-19-3: Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost

TEXT: Mark 6:7-13
‘So the disciples went out, telling everyone they met to repent of their sins and turn to God. And they cast out many demons and healed many sick people, anointing them with olive oil.’
Mark 6:13

One of the major requirements for any serious vocational training is to have practical or field experience. Hence, it was the requirement of the disciples of Jesus Christ to go on mission as we read in today’s text. What was their mandate? The Lord sent them on the mission with the authority to preach the good news of salvation, heal the sick and cast out demons.
As usual, whoever sends you on a mission or to perform a duty, you have the person’s authority. A mark of such authority in Biblical times is a staff or rod which also served as a walking stick, support when standing and to ward off danger in an agrarian or wilderness environment, as used by shepherds or cattle breeders. Hence, Jesus Christ allowed the disciples to go on mission with His authority mainly for saving of lives and dealing with enemies –driving out demons from the demon-possessed or oppressed and healing the sick.

By the Lord’s commission, as contained in Matthew 28:18-20, Mark 16:15, Luke 24:46 and John 20:21, we must go out with authority and power in His name to preach the gospel, heal the sick and cast out demons. Last year, we took time to study in-depth the word of God, just like the disciples of Jesus Christ. With the knowledge and understanding that we have acquired, let us go in the power of the Holy Spirit launching offensive into the kingdom of darkness to release people from their troubles.

When we go as Jesus Christ commanded, things will happen. You must be an agent of change henceforth.

PRAYER:
Gracious Lord, make me a willing and honourable vessel in Your vineyard in Jesus Christ’s name. Amen.

But we speak the wisdom of God in a mystery, even the hidden wisdom, which God ordained before the world unto our glory: Which none of the princes of this world knew: for had they known it, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory. But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him. But God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God.
1 Corinthians 2:7-10

Out of ignorance Joseph’s enemies paid his transport fare to his land of fulfilment. Out of ignorance Haman helped Mordecai to the place of honour. Hence forth out of ignorance your enemies will help you to fulfil your dreams this year in Jesus mighty name. Amen.

The LORD Will Open The Heavens Each Day To Water Your Life And Keep You Evergreen.

Psalms_1-3: And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper

24 The Lord bless thee, and keep thee:
25 The Lord make his face shine upon thee, and be gracious unto thee:
26 The Lord lift up his countenance upon thee, and give thee peace.
Numbers 6:24-26

7 The Lord shall preserve thee from all evil: he shall preserve thy soul.
8 The Lord shall preserve thy going out and thy coming in from this time forth, and even for evermore.
