To His feet your tribute bring.

Ransom’d, heal’d, restor’d, forgiven,

Who like thee His praises should sing?

Praise the everlasting King!

Praise Him for His grace and favor

To our fathers in distress.

Praise Him, still the same as ever,

Slow to chide, and swift to bless.

Glorious in His faithfulness!

Father-like He tends and spares us;

Well our feeble frame He knows.

In His hands He gently bears us,

Rescues us from all our foes.

Widely yet His mercy flows!

1:

What various hindrances we meet,

In coming to the mercy-seat!

Yet who that knows the worth of prayer

But wishes to be often there?

2:

Pray’r makes the darken’d cloud Withdraw;

Pray’r climbs the ladder Jacob saw,

Gives exercise to faith and love,

Brings every blessing from above.

3:

Restraining pray’r, we cease to fight;

Pray’r makes the Christian’S armour bright;

And Saints trembles hen he sees

The weakest saint upon his knees.

4:

O Lord, increase our faith and love,

That we may all Thy goodness prove,

And gain from Thy exhaustless store

The fruits of prayer for evermore.

Were half the breath thus vainly spent,

To heav’n in supplication sent,

Saviour, again to Thy dear name we raise

With one accord our parting hymn of praise;

We stand to bless Thee ere our worship cease

Then, lowly kneeling, wait Thy word of peace.

Grant us Thy peace upon our homeward way;

With Thee began, with Thee shall end the day;

Guard Thou the lips from sin, the hearts from shame.

That in this house have called upon Thy name.

Grant us Thy peace, Lord, through the coming night,

Turn Thou for us its darkness into light;

From harm and danger keep Thy children free,
