Luke_6-28: Bless them that curse you, and pray for them which despitefully use you Luke_6-28: Bless them that curse you, and pray for them which despitefully use you

“Love your enemies. Do good to those who hate you. Pray for the happiness of those who curse you. Pray for those who hurt you.”

(Luke 6:27-28)

An attorney came to me with that familiar problem: a business partner he could not tolerate. The two men actually hated each other, criticizing and demeaning one another at every opportunity. Rather than speaking of God’s desires for that relationship, each man focused only on the unlovable traits of the other.

I reminded my friend, a new believer, that God’s Word commands us to love our enemies. I further suggested that he go to that other man, tell him he loved him, and ask his forgiveness for the way he had treated him. The attorney’s eyes grew wide. “I could never love him,” he said.

Romans_8-1:There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit Romans_8-1:There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit

Romans 8:1-2

There is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, because through Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit of life in Christ has set me free from the law of sin and death.

Romans_8-2: For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death. Romans_8-2: For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death.

Free at last, free at last, praise Lord God Almighty I am free at last.” Becoming a Christian means we have been liberated from law-keeping. We now have God living in us, through the Holy Spirit, to not only help us know His will, but to live it. Through the Spirit’s power, we can do what no law could make us do: live…

Galatians_5-13: For, brethren, ye have been called unto liberty; only use not liberty for an occasion to the flesh, but by love serve one another. Galatians_5-13: For, brethren, ye have been called unto liberty; only use not liberty for an occasion to the flesh, but by love serve one another.

“So I say, let the Holy Spirit guide your lives. Then you won’t be doing what your sinful nature craves.”

(Galatians 5:16)

I like to compare the Christian battle against sin to an individual swimming upstream against a surging current. His progress is slow and tortuous; he is constantly swept backward by powerful undercurrents. Hovering near the swimmer is a speedboat with a powerful motor. He can continue to try to swim upstream or he can choose to climb aboard the speedboat, which can easily whisk him up the river.

We have a similar choice. When battling evil spiritual forces, worldly influences, and our own fleshly temptations, we can either fail miserably by fighting temptation in our own efforts or defeat that sin-current…

“A person can do nothing better than to eat and drink and find satisfaction in their own toil. This too, I see, is from the hand of God…”

Ecclesiastes 2:24

Our consumer-driven culture tells us that, unless we have the best TV, the best car, and the best house filled with the best things, then we’re not living life to the fullest. And, isn’t life meant to be lived fully?

As we watch TV shows based in fantasy, we think, “That’s what my house needs to look like. That’s what my car needs to look like.” We may go into debt to make it happen, and then worry about our debt, not having enough, how we’re going to pay…

All music but its own:

While Shepherds watched their flocks by night

Prayer's avatarPrayer Haven

Psalms_23-1: The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want Psalms_23-1: The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want

While Shepherds watched their flocks by night,

All seated on the ground,

The angel of the Lord came down,

And glory shone around

Fear not! said he; for mighty

dread

Had seized their troubled mind;

Glad tidings of great joy I bring

To you and all mankind.

To you, in David’s town, this day

Is born, of  David’s line,

A Saviour, who is Christ the Lord

And this shall be the sign;

The heavenly Babe you there

shall find

To human view displayed,

All meanly wrapped

In swadding bands

And in a manger laid

Thus spake the seraph: and forth-with

Appeared a shining throng

Of angels praising God, who thus

Addressed their joyful song.

Christians, awake, salute the happy morn,

Whereon the Saviour of mankind was born:

Rise to adore the mystery of love,

Which hosts of angels chanted from above;

With them the joyful tidings first begun

Of God incarnate and the Virgin’s Son.

Then to the watchful shepherds it was told

Who heard the angelic herald’s voice:

Behold, I bring good tidings of a Saviour’s birth

To you and all the nations upon earth:

This day hath God fulfilled His promised word,

This day is born a Saviour, Christ the Lord.

He spake; and straightway the celestial choir

In hymns of joy, unknown before, conspire,

Thy praises of redeeming love they sang,

Mother’s Day may have already passed, but all of the great women in our life are worth more than one day of acknowledgement

Proverbs 31:28“Her children rise up and call her blessed, her husband also praises her.”

This past Sunday was Mother’s Day. It was a day we celebrated the women who are most dear in our life. I can’t think of a more fitting verse to honor them with. If you grew up with a loving mom, who cared for and encouraged you, take this verse to heart.

Rise up and let her know how blessed you are. Especially, if she is still around today, make sure you do so. If not, take a moment to thank God for allowing her to have been in your life. If you are a mother or hope to be someday, remember this verse. Let it be your guide as you tackle the everyday challenges of…

2 Chronicles 33

Hezekiah was a god-fearing king who brought about reformation among the Israelites. His son Manasseh, however, was an evil ruler. He had watched his father walk with God and live according to Scripture. Yet he chose to ignore the Lord.

Manasseh worshipped false gods, even to the point of sacrificing his sons by fire in order to praise Molech. He practiced much evil—including witchcraft and sorcery— and led Israel astray, thereby provoking God to anger. The king, along with the people, paid a high price for his rebellion.

This story illustrates the Lord’s intolerance of a nation’s disregard toward Him

Mark 8:24-25, “And he looked up, and said, I see men as trees, walking. After that he put his hands again upon his eyes, and made him look up: and he was restored, and saw every man clearly.”

MATTHEW 7:7-11; MARK 8:22-25

But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ

It was unusual for Jesus to inquire about the results of His ministry as He did in verse 23. It was even more unusual that Jesus laid hands on this man a second time. This is the only example in the New Testament where Jesus had to minister to any need more than once to affect a total healing.
