Philippians 3: 13-16

Father We Thank You This Morning

We Bless And Honour Your Holy Name. We Stand In Awe Of You As We Always Do And Ask Oh Lord That You Have Regard Unto Our Prayers And Supplications And Let Our Cry Come Up To You.

As We Look To You This Morning We Pray That Our Past Will Not Hinder Our Future In The Name Of Jesus. Amen.

As humans we are capable of doing some shameful things. And if we look back over our lives we can probably see a few things we’re ashamed of and we wish we had never done. Or maybe it’s not what we have done, but what someone has done to us that has left us feeling bad about ourselves. But the Word of God tells us if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed; behold, all things have become new (see 2 Cor. 5:17). That means we are not the person we used to be prior to salvation. We may live in the same bodies, and our minds need to be renewed day by day, but our spirits have been recreated in Christ Jesus. And His blood has washed us whiter than snow. So now that we have a new beginning and a fresh start, why do we look back and identify with our past mistakes and failures?

If we’re not beating ourselves up, other people are reminding us of our past. And if people aren’t reminding us, the accuser of the brethren constantly whispers to us that we are no good. But what has God said about us?

That’s all that really matters. Throughout scripture we are reminded to forget about the past. And if we ever plan to fulfill our God-given purpose, we must cease to look back, because the past really has nothing to do with where God wants to take us.

In Genesis 12:1-2, the Lord told Abram to get out of his country, away from his family and from his father’s house, and go to a land that He would show him. God wanted Abram to look ahead to the new life that He had in store for Him. The blessing was waiting in the new place God was calling Him to. This is why Satan fights to keep us tied to our past. He knows we will never be who we are destined to be, and we will never do what we are purposed to do if we live in the past.

The apostle Paul understood the importance of walking in the newness of life in Christ. He had a lot in his past , but he didn’t let it deter him from his destiny. If he had continued to associate himself with his past mistakes, he would never bave been able to write under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, and we would not be blessed by the bulk of the New Testament that was written by him. In his letter to the church at Philippi he wrote this:

“Brethren, I do not count myself to have apprehended; but one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead. I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 3:13

Forgetting the past, and reaching for what’s ahead is vital to our future. If we ever expect to shine for God and touch the world with our gifts, talents, and ability, we have to be determined to let bygones be bygones.

REMEMBER TO:

  1. Forgive yourself for past mistakes and failures.
  • Forgive those who have wronged you.
  • When Satan reminds you of the past, speak God’s Word out loud over yourself and he will flee from you.
  • Pray and ask God to reveal His plan and purpose for your life.
  • Take a step of faith towards your future, and keep on stepping as the Holy Spirit leads you.
  • Surround yourself with people who believe in you, and will speak great things over your life.

“Behold the former things have come to pass, and new thing I declare; Before they spring forth I tell you of them.” Isaiah 42:9

Even as the world around us grows darker, our future in Christ is just getting brighter and brighter. God is about to do something new and fresh in the lives of His people. Now is the time for us to live purposeful lives. Now is the time for us to begin to do what we are destined to do for God. Now is the time for us to reach the world with what we have to offer. Today is the day we must throw off the old garments of guilt and shame that remind us of the past and press forward to a whole new life in christ.

PRAYER POINTS:

  1. Dear Lord we come to You sincerely with a desire to be free from our past in Jesus’ name. Amen.
  • Lord please give us the grace to overcome past mistakes, failures and rejections, in Jesus’ name. Amen.
  • We break every stronghold set up by the devil to use our past to destroy us and our future, in the name of Jesus. Amen.

1 Corinthians 11. Worship and the LORD’s supper. Covering the head in worship

1 Be ye followers of me, even as I also am of Christ. 2 Now I praise you, brethren, that ye remember me in all things, and keep the ordinances, as I delivered them to you. 3 But I would have you know, that the head of every man is Christ; and the head of the woman is the man; and the head of Christ isGod. 4 Every man praying or prophesying, having his head covered, dishonoureth his head. 5 But every woman that prayeth or prophesieth with her head uncovered dishonoureth her head: for that is even all one as if she were shaven. 6 For if the woman be not covered, let her also be shorn: but if it be a shame for a woman to be shorn or shaven…

1 Corinthians 12. Spiritual unity of Believers. Gifts from the Holy Spirit

1 Now concerning spiritual gifts, brethren, I would not have you ignorant. 2 Ye know that ye were Gentiles, carried away unto these dumb idols, even as ye were led. 3 Wherefore I give you to understand, that no man speaking by the Spirit of God calleth Jesus accursed: and that no man can say that Jesus is the Lord, but by the Holy Ghost. 4 Now there are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit. 5 And there are differences of administrations, but the same Lord. 6 And there are diversities of operations, but it is the same God which worketh all in all. 7 But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to every man to profit withal. 8 For to one is given by the Spirit the word of wisdom; to another…

1 Corinthians 13. Love. The greatest spiritual gift

1 Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, and have not charity, I am become as sounding brass, or a tinkling cymbal. 2 And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries, and all knowledge; and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, and have not charity, I am nothing. 3 And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though I give my body to be burned, and have not charity, it profiteth me nothing.

4 Charity suffereth long, and is kind; charity envieth not; charity vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up, 5 Doth not behave itself unseemly, seeketh not her own, is not easily provoked, thinketh no evil; 6 Rejoiceth not in iniquity, but rejoiceth in the truth; 7 Beareth all things, believeth…

1 Corinthians 14. Principles concerning spiritual gifts. More about gifts from the Spirit

1 Follow after charity, and desire spiritual gifts, but rather that ye may prophesy. 2 For he that speaketh in an unknowntongue speaketh not unto men, but unto God: for no man understandeth him; howbeit in the spirit he speaketh mysteries. 3 But he that prophesieth speaketh unto men to edification, and exhortation, and comfort. 4 He that speaketh in an unknown tongue edifieth himself; but he that prophesieth edifieth the church. 5 I would that ye all spake with tongues, but rather that ye prophesied: for greater is he that prophesieth than he that speaketh with tongues, except he interpret, that the church may receive edifying.

6 Now, brethren, if I come unto you speaking with tongues, what shall I profit you, except I shall speak to…

1 In those days was Hezekiah sick unto death. And Isaiah the prophet the son of Amoz came unto him, and said unto him, Thus saith the LORD, Set thine house in order: for thou shalt die, and not live. 2 Then Hezekiah turned his face toward the wall, and prayed unto the LORD, 3 And said, Remember now, O LORD, I beseech thee, how I have walked before thee in truth and with a perfect heart, and have done that which is good in thy sight. And Hezekiah wept sore. 4 Then came the word of the LORD to Isaiah, saying, 5 Go, and say to Hezekiah, Thus saith the LORD, the God of David thy father, I have heard thy prayer, I have seen thy tears: behold, I will add unto thy days fifteen years. 6…

1 At that time Merodachbaladan, the son of Baladan, king of Babylon, sent letters and a present to Hezekiah: for he had heard that he had been sick, and was recovered. 2 And Hezekiah was glad of them, and showed them the house of his precious things, the silver, and the gold, and the spices, and the precious ointment, and all the house of his armour, and all that was found in his treasures: there was nothing in his house, nor in all his dominion, that Hezekiah showed them not. 3 Then came Isaiah the prophet unto king Hezekiah, and said unto him, What said these men? and from whence came they unto thee? And Hezekiah said, They are come from a far country unto me, even from Babylon. 4 Then said he, What have…

I Prophesy Over Your Life That The LORD Will Increase You In 2013

“You will give me greater honor than before and turn again and comfort me.” Psalm. 71:21 (TLB)

Today, the last day of the year 2012, your year of greater glory, I prophesy over your life that the Lord will increase you in 2013. All that you have experienced this year for good will be multiplied in your life in the coming year. The path of the just, the Bible says in Prov. 4:18, is like shining light that shines brighter and brighter unto the perfect day. I declare over you that your tomorrow will be greater.
