I have often desired for God to work mightily in my church. This is in part because I have seen what revival looks like over 10 years ago, when I used to live in Springfield, Missouri. While reading in bed, I felt a heat on my back and then a lot of tingling. My back pain seemed gone. Immediately prayed and the Lord asked what is the purpose of my back? I said that it was to hold me up? He said, “I will uphold you with my right hand. You need only be still.” I got up out of bed and tested out my back, to see if I really was healed. No pain, completely no pain. Gone. Our God is so Awesome and Kind. He miraculously physically healed me. I wasn’t even praying. Have you ever been lost in a dark alleyway or on a dark road and you are without a lamp?

You might need your hands to reach out in front of you to give you some indication of what is in front of you.

We have driven on roads that are so dark that even with headlights we feel blind. Add to that concern that there are animals being herded home and women and children returning from market. We must take the journey very slowly when we have such visual restrictions.

In John 3, we are told of 2 types of people. There are those who live in the darkness which is likened to a state of blindness. In this type of blindness, we cannot actually see the truth. Why? Christ the bearer of truth is not seen and He is hated by those spiritually blind.

Jesus does not send perfume to linger in the air. Instead he sends salvation, to show us how much he cares.

He doesn’t bring me candy hearts in boxes of delight. Instead he always let’s know I’m precious in his sight.

He doesn’t hand out fancy gifts like we would send to one another. Instead he sends a message clear to always love eachother.

He doesn’t give me teddy bears that whimper “please be mine” instead he gave his heart to me I wear it all the time.

He doesn’t give me roses,pink for all the world to see. Instead he gave eternal life that’s good enough for me!

I used to have this nightmare that terrified me years ago, where I was surrounded by fire, covered in blood, and being attacked by something I could not see. Recently God revealed to me that it was not a nightmare, which I would argue until He gave me understanding. He told me that even though I was surrounded by fire I was not being burned. The blood that covered me was not my own, but His Son’s blood which was protecting me. Even though I was being attacked, that I did not die, but stood firm. That the fire kept the enemy from destroying me, and that it was His Spirit that surrounded me. This inspired this painting.

Which I hope inspires hope for those who are going through their own fiery trials, or nightmares.
