Honey Or Vinegar?

The preacher placed two identical jars on the table next to the pulpit. He quoted 1 Samuel 16:7 The Lord does not look at the things man looks at. Man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.

“These jars came from the same factory, were made of the same materials, and can hold the same amount. But they are different,” he explained. Then he upset one and it oozed out honey. He turned over the other, and vinegar spilled out.

“When a jar is upset, whatever is in it comes out. Until the jars were upset, they looked alike. The difference was within and could not be seen. When they were upset, their contents were revealed.

Until we are upset, we put on a good front. But when we are upset, we reveal our innermost thoughts and attitudes, “For out of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaks.” (Luke 6:45)

What if someone tipped you over today? What would flow out? Would you reveal the “honey” of grace and patience? Or the “vinegar” of anger and criticism? “Above all, love each other deeply, because love covers over a multitude of sins.” (1 Peter 4:8)

Have a terrific day knowing that the one who upsets you may be just looking to see what is going to flow out of you as well as you find out yourself.

God Will Provide

Proverbs_16-3-1: Commit thy works unto the LORD, and thy thoughts shall be established

“And he directed the people to sit down on the grass. Taking the five loaves and the two fish and looking up to heaven, he gave thanks and broke the loaves. Then he gave them to the disciples, and the disciples gave them to the people.” (Matthew 14:19)

The story of how Jesus fed the 5,000 is one that we have been hearing since we were children in Sunday School. However, reading it as an adult has opened my eyes to things I hadn’t seen before.

Jesus was actually grieving the death of his cousin, John the Baptist, when this event happened. Jesus withdrew himself from the crowd, like many of us would do, and went to a solitary place privately. After all that had taken place, I am sure he had a lot on His mind and needed time to process it all. However, as soon as the crowds heard of this, they went walking all the way to where Jesus was.

Jesus could have very well asked them to leave or come back another day, but the Bible says that “he had compassion on them and healed their sick”. He put his own feelings aside and tended to the work God had set before him. Since the place Jesus had gone to was away from the town, the disciples encouraged him to send the people away, as it was getting late, and people were going to be hungry. Instead, Jesus chose to feed them right then and there. As we all know, there were only five loaves of bread and two fish, but Jesus never doubted that His Father would provide what was needed. He gave thanks for the food, trusting that it was already enough. In fact, there was actually food left over after all had eaten!

Friends, God will always meet our needs. We may not see it yet, but He will do it. Many times our faith is what lacks! We struggle to believe what we don’t see, so unless the provision is in front of us immediately, we doubt. But we can be sure that when we ask God to meet our needs according to His will, we can thank Him in advance because he will provide.

Suggested prayer: Heavenly Father, thank you for your sure provision in our lives. Help my trust in you be so great that there is no room for doubt. When I face sad or trying times, help me, even then, to be an example of faith, gratitude, and compassion to others. Thank you for always hearing and answering my prayer. In Jesus Christ name, amen.

God is faithful, by whom ye were called unto the fellowship of his Son Jesus Christ our Lord.

The Drifter

“Abram lived in the land of Canaan, while Lot lived among the cities of the plain and pitched his tents near Sodom. (Genesis 13:12)

Perhaps you have heard this old saying: There are three kinds of people in life….

Those who make things happen,

Those who watch things happen, and

Those who say, “What happened?”

Lot seems to have been a member of the third category. As you read about him in Scripture, you get the impression of a guy who just floated through life, taking the path of least resistance.

He never seemed to wrestle with difficult questions such as “What are the long-term consequences of this choice? Or I wonder what God wants me to do?” Instead, he lived for the moment. He never anchored himself to the truth of God and so was swept along by a corrupt culture to places he probably never wanted to go. Lot and his family suffered death, incest, and disgrace because he allowed the world to shape his life and determine his direction.

Are you drifting? Do you have firm convictions about how God expects you to live? Have you anchored yourself to the truth of God? Do you have some definite goals in view? If you don’t take specific steps to place yourself under God’s direction, you will turn out like Lot, one of those poor souls who gets into one mess after another. Your life will be a tragic example of what might have been.

People who drift without God’s direction usually end up where they don’t want to be.

What will it profit when life is over,

Though far away places I may see,

If, by going my own way and doing my own will,

I miss out on what God has planned for me?

Don’t become a drifter. Determine right now to stay close to God and make a definite commitment to follow Christ each and every day with all your heart and stay close to Him. When you do, He will direct every step you take – and you won’t “drift”. (Proverbs 3:5-6)

I Just Discovered Sleeping On My back Is Da Bomb!

Exodus_33-14-2: And he said, My presence shall go with thee, and I will give thee rest.

Sleeping on your back might be all the medicine you need as you grow older!

You don’t wake up multiple times at night to ease yourself, either do you suddenly jest out of the bed to empty your bowel before it disgraces you.

Even the back pains are minimal now!

You feel more alive!

I was 15 years old when I was forced to start sleeping on my tummy by this deliverance minister, then it seemed she had valid reasons and concerns too.

As I grew older, I discovered sleeping on my left side was better than sleeping on my tummy, so most nights, I start from the tummy and I end up waking up from the left side.

Sleeping on my left side as a married man meant backing madam, which earned me the award as the Most Wicked Husband, I even got kicked out of the bed one night, I couldn’t believe it, I got Jackie Chaned from my matrimonial bed, I flew like a bullet and landed on the hard floor! Lol!

Last week I watched a video why your babies should not sleep on their tummies, and something clicked in me. Maybe we are not supposed to sleep on our tummies, but the fear of village people stealing our souls and destiny while we sleep on our backs, have made us to sleep on our tummies (crushing our internal organs with our weight) Lol!

For a week now, it has not been easy to sleep on my back, but I am determined to start sleeping on my back, the advantages out weight the disadvantages, and for my village people, if una try me! Na die una go die! Period! To the new wife! I hate cuddling while I sleep, do you know how heavy your head is? Pressing it against my chest or shoulder! Do you know how discomforting it is to have another person’s body pressed against yours? Cuddling should be for a short while, not throughtout the night! As a single girl, you did not die when you had nobody to cuddle at night, for so many years!
