Children Series Part 8[8+]

It is never too late to talk about sexual abuse, my dear. Just like you read about Eve’s experience, I want to assure you that you will feel a lot better when you TELL!

  • It is not your fault the abuse took place.
  • Stay calm.
  • You are not responsible for what happened.
  • It is the fault of the abuser, he or she needs help.
  • Telling reveals the abuser.
  • Tell a trusted adult about the abuse.
  • When you tell, the abuser will get help.
  • He or she will not be able to harm other children again.
  • As soon as you tell a trusted adult, you are safe. The abuser cannot harm you anymore.
  • Some adults may not believe your story; they may even say you made it up.
  • Do not worry, go ahead and tell another adult; keep telling until someone believes you.

You may need to talk to a doctor or counsellor about the abuse.

When you report the abuse, the abuser may get arrested by the police and go to jail. This is a way of punishing abusers for the wrong they have done. The abuser may make you feel guilty, but remember it was not your fault.

Make up your mind now! Say to yourself I WANT TO BE FREE, I WILL TELL, THIS SEXUAL ABUSE MUST STOP NOW!

Then go ahead and TELL!!!!!

May GOD bless Nigeria, America and Israel and take care of us; May GOD make His face shine upon us, And be gracious to us; May the LORD lift up His countenance upon us, And give us peace, In Jesus Christ Name, we pray! Amen!

Okoro’s Story

Okoro was 15 when he was caught sexually abusing a 10 year old girl in his school. He admitted that when he was 8 years, their house help sexually abused him. Okoro taught it was a good way of taking revenge. He really needed help. Okoro was taken to a professional counsellor, who helped him.

Anyone who sexually abuses a child has a problem and certainly needs to see a doctor or a professional counsellor.

Some abusers take revenge on others because they were sexually abused when they were young. They may also want to feel what it is like to abuse someone since they were also abused.

You can help prevent these abusers from hurting other children.

May GOD bless Nigeria, America and Israel and take care of us; May GOD make His face shine upon us, And be gracious to us; May the LORD lift up His countenance upon us, And give us peace, In Jesus Christ Name, we pray! Amen!

Child Sexual Abusers! Joel’s Story

Children Series Part  2 [8+]

Uncle Joe was his favourite amongst his relatives. He buys biscuits, sweets and lovely things for Joel. Each time Uncle Joe comes to Joel’s house, he always wants to stay alone in the room with him. One day, Uncle Joe touched Joel all over his body. He thought he was just showing him how much he cares. Later, Uncle Joe started touching his crotch.  Joel became uncomfortable. But Uncle Joe threatened not to buy anything for him if he tells anyone about the touch. Joel did not want his uncle to stop buying all the lovely things, so he never told anyone, until he was taught in the church about sexual abuse.

I bet you are eager to know who can abuse any child. They are called Child Sexual Abusers. They are offenders because their behaviour is against the law.

Who then are Child Sexual Abusers?

Child Sexual Abusers could be anyone! Surprised? Yes, anyone. It could be:

  • An older boy or girl.
  • A teenager or even your age mate
  • An adult (Male or Female)
  • A neighbour (people that live around you)
  • Someone you love, trust and care about)
  • People you live with.
  • Someone you always love to play with.
  • A stranger (someone you don’t know)
  • A member of your family (uncle, cousin, aunty, nephew, niece, parents, step-parents, grand-parents).
  • A family friend (a friend of your parents, brother or sister’s friends).
  • School teacher, lesson teacher, coach, swimming instructors, football coach, nanny, etc).
  • A clergy (religious leader).
  • A landlord (the owner of the house you live in)
  • Domestic workers such as House-help (boy or girl), Driver, Gateman, Cook, Gardener).
  • Anybody! Male or Female

However, not all adults are child sexual abusers. Most of them are good, and they genuinely love and care for you. But if you are not too sure about an adult, trust your feelings!

Tell Somebody about it!

May the LORD bless Nigeria, American and Israel and take care of us; May the LORD make His face shine upon us, And be gracious to us; May the Lord lift up His countenance upon us, And give us peace, In Jesus Christ Name, we pray! Amen!
