Hymn 620. God moves in a mysterious way

God moves in a mysterious way

His wonders to perform;

He plants His footsteps in the sea,

And rides upon the storm.

2:

Deep in unfathomable mines

Of never failing skill

He treasures up His bright designs,

And works His sovereign will.

3:

Ye fearful saints, fresh courage take!

The clouds ye so much dread

Are big with mercy, and shall break

In blessings on your head.

4:

Judge not the Lord by feeble sense,

But trust Him for His grace;

Behind a frowning providence

He hides a smiling face.

5:

His purposes will ripen fast,

Unfolding every hour;

The bud may have a bitter taste,

But sweet will be the flower.

6:

Blind unbelief is sure to err,

And scan His work in vain;

God is His own interpreter,

And He will make it plain.

Food For Thought:

  1. How does God move, and for what purpose, according to the first verse?
  2. What two powerful actions of God are described in relation to the sea and the storm in verse 1?
  3. Where does God “treasure up His bright designs” in verse 2?
  4. What quality is attributed to God’s skill in verse 2?
  5. What encouragement is given to “fearful saints” in verse 3?
  6. How are the “clouds ye so much dread” described in verse 3, and what will they bring?
  7. What warning is given in verse 4 regarding how one should not judge the Lord?
  8. What should one trust God for, according to verse 4?
  9. What is hidden “behind a frowning providence”?
  10. How quickly do God’s purposes ripen, according to verse 5?
  11. What contrast is made about the “bud” and the “flower” in verse 5?
  12. What two negative consequences are associated with “blind unbelief” in verse 6?
  13. Who is God’s “own interpreter” in verse 6?
  14. What promise is made about God’s work in the final line of the hymn?
  15. What is the overarching message of comfort and trust in God’s sovereignty conveyed by this hymn?
  16. How can we trust God’s plan when we don’t understand His ways?
  17. What role does faith play in navigating life’s uncertainties?
  18. How do we distinguish between God’s sovereignty and human free will?
  19. What are some ways to find courage in the midst of uncertainty?
  20. How can we overcome fear and doubt in our lives?
  21. What biblical examples illustrate God’s merciful intervention in human affairs?
  22. How can we make sense of life’s challenges and difficulties?
  23. What lessons can we learn from the hymn “God moves in a mysterious way?
  24. How does God’s Word guide us through life’s storms and struggles?
  25. Why is it essential to trust God’s goodness despite life’s uncertainties?
  26. How can we cultivate a deeper trust in God’s sovereignty?
  27. What are some ways to experience God’s mercy and blessings?
  28. How do we understand God’s timing and purpose in our lives?
  29. What biblical promises assure us of God’s good plans for our lives?
  30. How can we patiently wait for God’s purposes to unfold in our lives?

Salvation Prayers

If you don’t Know Jesus as your personal Lord and Saviour and would like to accept him into your life as your personal Lord and Saviour, Please say this prayer:

Father, I know that I have broken your laws and my sins have separated me from You. I am truly sorry, and now I want to turn away from my past sinful life toward You. Please forgive me, and help me avoid sinning again. I believe that Your son, Jesus Christ died for my sins, was resurrected from the dead, is alive, and hears my prayer. I invite Jesus to become the Lord of my life, to rule and reign in my heart from this day forward. Please send Your Holy Spirit to help me obey You, and to do Your Will for the rest of my life. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.

All Things Are Possible To Him That Can In Jesus Name Believe.

Mark_9-23-1: Jesus said unto him, If thou canst believe, all things are possible to him that believeth

Mark_9-23-1: Jesus said unto him, If thou canst believe, all things are possible to him that believeth

All Things Are Possible To Him That Can In Jesus Name Believe.
Lord, I No More Thy Name Blaspheme.
Thy Truth I Lovingly Receive,
I Can, I Do Believe In Thee;
All Things Are Possible To Me.

‘Twas Most Impossible Of All
That Here Sin’s Reign In Me Should Cease;
Yet Shall It Be, I Know It Shall;
Jesus, I Trust Thy Faithfulness!
If Nothing Is Too Hard For Thee,
All Things Are Possible To Me.

Though Earth And Hell The Word Gainsay,
The Word Of God Shall Never Fail
The Lord Can Break Sins Iron Sway;
‘Tis Certain, Though Impossible,
The Thing Impossible Shall Be,
All Things Are Possible To Me.

All Things Are Possible To God;
To Christ, The Power Of God In Man;
To Me When I Am All Renewed,
In Christ Am Fully Formed Again,
And From The Reign Of Sin Set Free,
All Things Are Possible To Me.

All Things Are Possible To God;
To Christ, The Power Of God In Me:
Now Shed Thy Mighty Self Abroad,
Let Me No Longer Live, But Thee;
Give Me This Hour In Thee To Prove
The Sweet Omnipotence Of Love.
Amen!

Child of God, don’t seek God occasionally, seek Him continually. May your life please God now and always

Child of God, don’t seek God occasionally, seek Him continually. May your life please God now and always

Hebrews_11-6: But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him

Hebrews_11-6: But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him

“(As it is written, I have made thee a father of many nations,) before him whom he believed, even God, who quickeneth the dead, and calleth those things which be not as though they were.”

Romans 4:17

Proverbs_16-7: When a man's ways please the LORD, he maketh even his enemies to be at peace with him

Proverbs_16-7: When a man’s ways please the LORD, he maketh even his enemies to be at peace with him

Beloved, how deep is your belief in God? How strong is your faith in Him? How well is your trust and dependency on God Almighty? Is there an alternative to your God? Are you seeing Him as a spare tyre, someone you can call upon only when you are in trouble? Do you call on Him when you need Him and discard Him when things are alright? No! God is not your spare tyre. You must depend on Him absolutely. You must give your heart wholly to Him; you must not have an alternative to believing Him. He must be your one and only Authority. Hebrews 11:6 tells us that God is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him. Child of God, don’t seek God occasionally, seek Him continually.

Psalms_119-2: Blessed are they that keep his testimonies, and that seek him with the whole heart

Psalms_119-2: Blessed are they that keep his testimonies, and that seek him with the whole heart

In Genesis 15:1, God appeared unto Abraham after he refused that booty from the king of Sodom. He demonstrated His trust and love for God. He was not ready to do anything outside the will of God. He showed his commitment to God. God now said to Abraham “I am thy shield and thy exceeding great reward”If you have me, you have everything. “God was saying to Abraham “if you have me, you have everything because I am your reward. At this time Abraham and His wife were getting old but what did Abraham do to please God? He simply believed the promise of God that he was going to be a father of many nations and he spoke and acted like it.

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

You will be surprised to know how people come to church, high-five one another, sing, clap, lift up holy hands in worship and walk away not pleasing God. It doesn’t mean they are not children of God, but they are not pleasing God. So God cannot elevate them to the secluded and privileged position of being a friend. It is not every Christian that is a friend of God but you can chose to be one today by obeying His word always, thereby pleasing Him. Today I release upon you the grace to believe every word of God, you receive and to obey them. May your life please God now and always.
