The Trinity- God The Father

TEXT: John 15:1-2, 8-9

INTRODUCTION: The theme of the new series for this month is TRINITY and we are starting today with God the Father, the first person of the Trinity. In Christianity, the three-in-one God is known as Trinity, because though God is one, He exists as three distinct persons with each member functioning in his own way – God the Father as the Originator, God the Son, Jesus Christ who is the Agent and God the Holy Spirit who is the Applicator. Trinity is not found in scripture. However, it summarizes the theological truth we see in scripture where the three persons of trinity were present at the same time, (such as during the baptism of Jesus Christ, when the Holy Spirit descended on Him and God the Father spoke). The three members are unified, and they don’t oppose one another – just like when the world was created and during the process of salvation – God loved us and gave Jesus Christ to die for our sins and the Holy Spirit was given to Believers thereafter. (John 14:16; 16:7).

Today, we are starting with God the Father, the first person of the Trinity and the father figure, who is understood to be the supreme Being, Origin of all things (1 Corinthians 8:6), and to whom we pray (Matthew 6:9).

CONCLUSION

God the Father is the Creator of all things in heaven and on earth. He is the Father of Jesus Christ (God referred to Jesus as His only begotten Son in John 3:16, Matthew 3:17 and Jesus called him Father John 15:1– 2). He is also the Father of all Believers as He guides, supports, loves and sustains them. He alone knows the exact timing of the end times (Matthew 24:36). We all can only know God the Father through having a relationship with Jesus Christ since Jesus is the perfect representation of the Father (John 14:7a) and a diligent study of the Word.

If you are yet to surrender your life to God by accepting Jesus Christ as your Lord and Saviour, you cannot be assured of living a victorious Christian life and cannot claim eternal life. Why not surrender to Him today.

Thank You Jesus,

Paul’s powerful defense before King Agrippa: A lesson in boldness, truth, and unwavering faith, as recorded in Acts 26. ACNNTV Devotional.

PAUL’S DEFENSE BEFORE AGRIPPA

Acts 26:19-26 (NKJV)

26:19. “Therefore, King Agrippa, I was not disobedient to the heavenly vision,

26:20. “but declared first to those in Damascus and in Jerusalem, and throughout all the region of Judea, and [then] to the Gentiles, that they should repent, turn to God, and do works befitting repentance.

26:21. “For these reasons the Jews seized me in the temple and tried to kill [me.]

26:22.  “Therefore, having obtained help from God, to this day I stand, witnessing both to small and great, saying no other things than those which the prophets and Moses said would come —

26:23. “that the Christ would suffer, that He would be the first to rise from the dead, and would proclaim light to the [Jewish] people and to the Gentiles.”

26:24. Now as he thus made his defense, Festus said with a loud voice, “Paul, you are beside yourself! Much learning is driving you mad!”

26:25. But he said, “I am not mad, most noble Festus, but speak the words of truth and reason.

26:26. “For the king, before whom I also speak freely, knows these things; for I am convinced that none of these things escapes his attention, since this thing was not done in a corner.

STUDY: Paul testified before Agrippa how he became obedient to his heavenly vision by preaching Christ in Damascus. The Jews at one occasion seized Paul in the temple and tried to kill him because of his evangelistic activities.

However, God helped him and kept him alive to preach the gospel to all and sundry concerning Christ’s suffering, death, resurrection, and bringing light to both the Jews and Gentiles. During Paul’s defense, Governor Festus accused him of being mad due to his much learning but Paul gently rejected that accusation and said he was speaking words of truth and reason as he knew that King Agrippa understood what he had said. Some people are shy, fearful or intimidated when asked to speak before dignitaries like kings, governors, presidents, bishops and very influential people. However, Paul was very bold, articulate, and logical in his defense before the king.

Have you ever boldly preached the gospel before your superiors or those in authority? When someone distracts you while you are speaking, do you get distracted and attack the person, or do you quietly address what is said and continue with what you are saying? Ask God to grant you boldness as you witness for Christ (Prov. 28:1b; 2Tim. 1:7).

PRAYER: Dear Lord, may your Spirit grant me utterance whenever I witness for Christ, Amen!

SATANIC VOICES

“And Jesus asked him, saying, What is thy name? And he said, Legion: because many devils were entered into him.” (Luke 8: 30)

That is the Focal Scripture of Streams of Joy Devotional today.

In our Focal Scripture, the demons in the man that came out of the tombs spoke to Jesus and identified themselves as a legion. It was not enough that the demons had taken possession of the man; they also found a voice through him; they found expression through him; they were satanic voices speaking in the life of the man against his wishes. Satanic voices were speaking concerning the destiny of that man at the tomb.

Friend, hear me as I hear the Lord: every satanic voice that is speaking concerning your life, I command them to shut up. Every satanic voice that is calling you into dryness, I command them to shut up. Every satanic voice that is causing you to have results that are not from God, I command them to shut up. Every satanic voice that is pushing you away from your place in destiny, I command them to shup up by fire. I command the voices of negativity and affliction to shup up already.

Today, I silence every satanic voice of enchantment and divination that is speaking against your destiny. I silence the voices from your past seeking space in your future. I silence every voice that wants to make your destiny reduce to nothing. I silence every voice of opposition that is speaking against you. I silence every voice of haters that are speaking where your eyes cannot see. I silence every satanic voice poised against you.

Notice that the voices of negativity that were speaking in our Focal Scripture, were speaking with the voice of the demon possessed man. They used his voice to speak against his destiny. They used his voice to tell Jesus not to interfere with their operation. Even if the enemy seeks to speak against you, make sure that he is not using your own voice. Make sure that you are not the one reiterating what the enemy has said with your own voice.

Say what the Lord is saying concerning you. Say what Jesus is saying concerning you. Don’t say that the enemy is saying. Don’t repeat the words of satanic voices.

Numbers 23:23 says: “Surely there is no enchantment against Jacob, neither is there any divination against Israel: according to this time it shall be said of Jacob and of Israel, What hath God wrought!”

Declare With Me: Every satanic voice speaking against me and around me, shut up by fire, in Jesus’ name!

Attention from Men or God?

TEXT: Matthew 6:16-18(NKJV)

6:16. “Moreover, when you fast, do not be like the hypocrites, with a sad countenance. For they disfigure their faces that they may appear to men to be fasting. Assuredly, I say to you, they have their reward.

6:17. “But you, when you fast, anoint your head and wash your face,

6:18. “so that you do not appear to men to be fasting, but to your Father who [is] in the secret [place;] and your Father who sees in secret will reward you openly.

Today’s passage does not condemn fasting as a spiritual tool because it starts with the phrase, ‘when you fast…’ Fasting should not be done in hypocrisy to show spiritual prowess. Anyone who fasts to receive the applause of men has fully received his reward. Fasting done to fulfil all righteousness is also futile. This is the case in Zechariah 7:1ff when the Israelites asked God whether they would continue their routine fast which they had done for seventy years since they returned from exile. Surprisingly, God told them that they had not been fasting unto him. So, it is possible to fast routinely for seventy years and not attract the attention of heaven. True believers should therefore fast to bring the flesh under control and get closer to God. It should be an exercise between man and God and not for public advertisement. Jesus also taught that fasting is a tool to gain victory over some levels of demonic challenges (Matt. 17:21).

Examine yourself. What is your motive for engaging in fasting? Remember that the personality you seek to please will be the one to reward you. If you seek to please men, they will applaud you. If your motive is to glorify God, He will respond positively to the desires of your heart. Start fasting;do it correctly and heaven will visit your closet.

PRAYER: Dear Father, please help me to learn to fast to your glory, Amen!

GOD CALLING

A Busy Day

Believe that I am with you and that I am in control of everything. Whatever I say, will be. There is no power which can change that.

Be calm. Never fear. You have quite a lot to learn. Keep on going until you find yourself singing during your busiest days. “Sing to the Lord” (Psalm 30:4 NIV 1984). Songs of praise to Me are the sweetest in My ears when they are sung on the busiest of days. Let love be the theme that runs throughout it all.

Always be glad. Rejoice exceedingly. Take joy in Me! Rest in Me. Never be afraid. Pray more. Don’t worry. I am your helper (Isaiah 41:10; Psalm 46:1). “The eternal God is your refuge, and underneath are the everlasting arms” (Deuteronomy 33:27 NIV 1984). No matter how low you go, My arms are always beneath you. Rest in My arms just like a tired child rests in her father’s arms.

GOOD MORNING. HAVE A BLESSED AND STRESS FREE DAY & PLEASE STAY SAFE! AMEN!

Hymn 704: When little Samuel woke

1: When little Samuel woke,

And heard his master’s voice;

At ev’ry word he spoke,

How much did he rejoice;

Oh, blessed happy child to find,

The God of heav’n so near and kind.

2: If God would speak to me,

And say He is my Friend,

How happy I should be

Oh how would I attend?

The smallest sin I then should fear

If God Almighty were so near.

3: And does He never speak?

Oh, yes, for in His word

He bids me come and seek

The God that Samuel heard,

In almost ev’ry page I see

The God of Samuel calls to me.

4: And I beneath His care,

May safely rest my head;

I know that God is there

To guard my humble bed,

And every sin I well may fear

Since God Almighty is so near.

5: Like Samuel let me say

When’er I read Thy word,

Speak, Lord I would obey

The voice that I have heard

And when I in thy house appear

Speak for thy servant waits to hear.

Clarifying Misconceptions In Christendom

TEXT: Ephnesis 4:11-16; Galatians 2:20-21; Acts 17:10-12; II Timothy 2:15; II Timothy 3:16-17; Galatians 2:20-21; II Corinthians 6:11-18; John 17:15-17; I John 2:15-17; I Corinthians 9:19-23; I Corinthians 6:12, 10:23; James 5:12; Matthew 5:33-37; Galatians 1:10; Psalm 15:1-2; Proverbs 26:28; Proverbs 29:5; Proverbs 27:5-6; Proverbs 28:23; Luke 6:26

INTRODUCTION: As Believers and followers of Jesus Christ, we’ve all encountered misconceptions about our Christian faith, that sometimes even affect our trust, our confidence, and our belief in Jesus Christ and His word as written in the Bible.

For example, perhaps you’ve heard that “being a Christian means giving up on having fun, and living a life of rigid roles’, or perhaps you’ve been told that Christians should never say anything that might hurt or harm someone’s feelings, even if it means compromising the truth. Or maybe you’ve wondered if associating with unbelievers is off-limits for Christians!!

These and more misconceptions can be confusing, and if left unaddressed, can lead to a distorted view of Christianity. So the question to ask us tonight is simply “what does the Bible have to say about these highlighted issues?

Tonight, we will be exploring these misconceptions and examining what the Bible says about the 3 questions asked, so that we are not “tossed to and fro with every wind of misconception” as Apostle Paul warned the church of Ephesus.

Outline 1: As a Christian, do I need to give up Fun and Follow a life of rules (and perhaps regulations)?

  1. Perhaps it is important to define what we mean by FUN? Fun is defined as “enjoyment, amusement, or light-hearted pleasure
  2. Based on the definition, is there anything wrong with a Christian having fun?
  3. Can a Christian participate in just any kind of Fun
  4. This perhaps leads us to differentiate between “Good fun and Bad fun”, then the next question will be “What is good fun and what is bad fun”?
  5. The bible does not necessarily advocate for a life devoid of fun or enjoyment, but we must remember that a true Christian life is one of obedience to God’s word, not one of indulgence in worldly pleasures.
  6. I John 2:15-17 not to love the world!!! World here refers to the morally evil system opposed to all that is God, and Godly. The world thus refers
  7. To the satanic system opposing Christ’s kingdom on earth. John 4:4 tells us that friendship with the world is enmity with God Paul’s example:
  8.  I Cor 6:12, 10:21-23, Ps 1:1-6
  9. Apostle Paul in I Cor 9:1-27 explains his liberty (verses 1-6), but adds that he has abstained for his own chosen reasons for the gospel sake (verses 15-23)
  10. As believers, we have freedom in Christ (Gal 5:1), but we are adjoined in Gal 5:13 not to use our liberty for an occasion to the flesh
  11. James 1:25 tells us to look at the perfect law of liberty, and to do accordingly, and we will be blessed
  12. I Peter 2:16 says we are free, but we are not to use our liberty for a cloke of maliciousness (doing wrong things). We are to submit all our actions to God
  13. Col 3:17 says we are to do whatsoever we do, in word or deed, to do them in the name of the Lord Jesus, meaning, we should do all things we do to glorify His name.
  14. So in conclusion, a true Christian life is not about giving up a lifestyle to enjoy fun and good pleasure (Ps 16:11) to follow set of rules. Rather it’s about living a life of freedom (from sin and bondage)and joy in Christ Jesus, guided by the Holy Spirit, and characterized by obedience to God’s word
  15. READ Gal 2:20

Outline 2: Christian should not say anything that may hurt someone’s feeling.

  1. To start this, let me ask us if there is any noticeable difference in the first chapter of Paul’s epistle to the Galatians compared with the first chapter of his other epistles?
  2. He wasted no time in addressing a key issue of concern. In fact in Gal 3:1, he even asked them “Who hath bewitched you? In the pidgin English version of this verse it says “Na so una mumu don reach”!!!!
  3. God’s words does not encourage falsehood for any reason.
  4. Ps 15:1-2 says – LORD, who shall abide in thy tabernacle? Who shall dwell in thy holy hill? He that walketh uprightly, and worketh righteousness, and speaketh the truth in his heart.
  5. Read I Thess 2:3-6 – For our exhortation was not of deceit, nor of uncleanness, nor in guile: but as we were allowed of God to be put in trust with the gospel, even so we speak; not as pleasing men, but God, which trieth our hearts. For neither at any time used we flattering words, as ye know, nor a cloke of covetousness; God is witness:nor of men sought we glory, neither of you, nor yetof others, when we might have been burdensome, as the apostles of Christ. But we were gentle among you, even as a nurse cherisheth her children:
  6. Read Gal 1:10 – For do I now persuade men, or God? or do I seek to please men? for if I yet pleased men, I should not be the servant of Christ.
  7. Matt 5:37, repeated in James 5:12 says “but let your communication be, Yea, yea, Nay, nay: for whatsoever is more than these cometh of evil
  8. The word of God provides guidance on how we are to interact with others and avoid hurting their feelings. For example, the bible teaches us to love and be considerate
  9. Romans 13:8, 10 – Owe no man anything, but to love one another: for he that loveth another hath fulfilled the law…. Love worketh no ill to his neighbour, therefore love is the fulling of the law
  10. We can also read about love further in I Cor 13:4-8 to be better guided in our interactions with others
  11. Prov 12:17-19 – He that speaketh truth sheweth forth righteousness: But a false witness deceit. There is that speaketh like the piercings of a sword: But the tongue of the wise is health. The lip of truth shall be established for ever: But a lying tongue is but for a moment.
  12. But nevertheless, as much as we should show love at all times, it is wrong to flatter (excessive or insincere praise) or lie to others, just to curry their favour or hide from the truth!!!
  13. Eph 4:15 says we are to speak the truth in love!!!
  14. When we flatter others or lie to them, we are simply not working in love (Prov 26:28 – a flattering mouth worketh ruin), Prov 29:5 – a man that flattereth his neighbour spreadeth a net for his feet
  15. Most true Christians appreciate loving honesty more than shallow flatteries Prov 27:5-6 says open rebuke is better than secret love, faithful are the wounds of a friend; but the kisses of an enemy are deceitful
  16. Prov 28:23 says – He that rebuketh a man afterwards shall find more favour than he that flattereth with the tongue.
  17. We must realize that God does not bless flattery lips – Prov 24:24-25 says He that saith unto the wicked, Thou art righteous; Him shall the people curse, nations shall abhor him: But to them that rebuke him shall be delight, And a good blessing shall come upon them.
  18. Also read Ps 12:2-3 – They speak vanity every one with his neighbour: With flattering lips and with a double heart do they speak. The LORD shall cut off all flattering lips, And the tongue that speaketh proud things:
  19. While the bible encourages Christians to speak the truth and stand firm in their convictions, it also emphasizes the importance of doing so in love and consideration for others. As Christians, we should strive to avoid hurting other people’s feelings and instead seek to build them up and show them love and consideration
  20. Apply Paul’s Policy and Mantra Acts 24:16

Outline 3: Should I associate with Unbelivers as a Christian?

  1. We must understand that there is a difference between Separation and Interaction
  2. We cannot avoid interacting with others so long as we are alive and remain in the world
  3. In John 17:11-12, Jesus Christ recognised that He was in the world with God’s children, and that He was now leaving them to remain in the world
  4. John 15:18-19 makes it clear to us that “We are not of the world”
  5. John 17:15-17 – Jesus Christ, in His prayer to the Father asked the Father not to take us out of the world, but that the Father should keep us from the evil in the world.
  6. I John 2:15-17 – Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him. 16For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world. 17And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever.
  7. Associate is coined from association which means ä group of people organized for a joint purpose
  8. So long as we remain in the world, we must interact with others, but we do not necessarily have to associate”with any worldly system that is set up to promote iniquity”
  9. One way not to love the world, is to avoid associations that will not honour or glorify God, associations that can lead us into sin and backsliding.
  10. Rom 12:2 – And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.
  11. II Cor 6:14-18 – Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness? And what concord hath Christ with Belial? or what part hath he that believeth with an infidel? And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? for ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people. Wherefore Come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, And touch not the unclean thing; And I will receive you, 18And will be a Father unto you, And ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty.
  12. In I Cor 5:6-13, Apostle Paul warned against evil associations, not to keep company with any… We are not to be unequally yoked together with unbelievers!!!
  13. He warned in verse 6 “Know ye not that a little leaven leaveneth the whole lump?
  14. Does this mean we cannot have unbelievers as friends? Certainly not, but we are not to partake in any evil they do, whilst letting them know why we cannot
  15. The example of Jesus Christ in Luke 15:1-7 is quite instructive. Jesus ate with Sinners, but did not partake in their sins, rather He brought them out of their life in sin
  16. Apostle Paul in I Cor 10:27 even said we can attend, if invited, but he gave conditions in the same text So how do we associate with unbelievers?
  17. Be salt and light: As a Christian, you are called to be a positive influence in the world. Matthew 5:13-16.
  18. Show love and compassion: Treat unbelievers with kindness, respect, and dignity. Luke 10:25-37.
  19. Share the Gospel: Be prepared to share the Good News of Jesus Christ with those whom God leads you to. I Peter 3:15.
  20. Maintain boundaries: While associating with unbelievers, maintain clear boundaries and avoid compromising your faith. I Corinthians 6:18-20.
  21. As a Child of God, you should not isolate yourself from unbelievers but rather engage with them in a way that is loving, respectful, and evangelistic. By being salt and light in the world, you can make a positive impact on those around you and share the love of Christ with them.

Let us Pray.

Addendum:

But before we delve into the misconceptions, let’s quickly take a cue from the Bereans as recorded in Acts 17:10-12:

1. Noble Character

– Integrity: The Bereans demonstrated noble character, which is a testament to their integrity and commitment to living a virtuous life.

– Humility: They were willing to listen and learn, showing humility and a willingness to grow.

2. Eagerness to Receive the Message

– Open-mindedness: The Bereans were eager to receive the message, demonstrating an open-mindedness and willingness to consider new ideas.

– Receptivity: They were receptive to the Gospel message, showing a willingness to listen and learn.

3. Examining the Scriptures

– Biblical literacy: The Bereans examined the Scriptures daily, demonstrating a commitment to biblical literacy and a desire to understand

God’s Word.

– Discernment: They tested Paul’s message against the Scriptures, showing discernment and a commitment to truth.

4. Willingness to Learn

– Teachability: The Bereans were willing to learn from Paul and Silas, demonstrating a teachable spirit and a willingness to grow.

– Hunger for knowledge: They were eager to learn more about God’s Word, showing a hunger for knowledge and a desire to deepen their understanding of the faith.

If we chose to follow the example of the Bereans, we will cultivate deeper commitment to biblical literacy, discernment, and willingness to learn and grow in their faith.

As a Christian (Young Convert or Matured), How Do I Handle Misconceptions?

It is important as Christians that we prayerfully handle misconceptions, and be properly guided, lest we derail from our faith in God. Below are some ways/steps, we as believers can apply in handling misconceptions, both for our own spiritual safety, as well as being “our brothers’ keepers”. The steps require thoughtful and loving approach:

1. Understand the Misconception

– Listen actively: Hear the person out and try to understand their perspective.

– Ask clarifying questions: Seek to understand the root of the misconception.

– Avoid being defensive: Listen without becoming overly defensive or emotional.

2. Pray for Wisdom and Guidance

– Seek God’s wisdom: Ask God to give you wisdom and guidance on how to respond.

– Pray for the person: Pray for the person who holds the misconception, that they may come to know the truth.

3. Respond with Love and Respect

– Speak the truth in love: Share the truth about Christianity in a loving and respectful manner.

– Avoid being confrontational: Approach the conversation as a dialogue, not a debate.

– Show empathy and understanding: Acknowledge the person’s concerns and show empathy.

4. Focus on the Gospel

– Share the Gospel: Clearly and concisely share the message of salvation through Jesus Christ.

– Highlight the love of God: Emphasize God’s love and desire for a personal relationship with each person.

– Avoid getting sidetracked: Stay focused on the core message of Christianity.

5. Be Prepared to Answer Questions

– Know your Bible: Be familiar with Scripture and able to explain Christian teachings.

– Be honest about what you don’t know: If you’re unsure about a question, say so and offer to find the answer.

– Provide resources: Share books, articles, or websites that can help answer questions and provide more information.

6. Model Christian Character

– Live out your faith: Demonstrate the love, kindness, and compassion of Christ in your daily life.

– Show the fruit of the Spirit: Exhibit the characteristics of a Christian, such as patience, gentleness, and self-control.

– Be a positive influence: Allow your faith to shine through in your interactions with others.

Thank You Jesus,

Psalms_25-2: O my God, I trust in thee: let me not be ashamed, let not mine enemies triumph over me

Hymn 731

1: Be with us, gracious Lord, to-day;

This house we dedicate to Thee:

O hear Thy servants as they pray,

And let Thine ear attentive be!

2: Within these walls let holy peace,

Let love and truth be always found;

May burdened hearts find sweet release,

And souls v-ith richest grace be crown’d.

3: May here be heard the suppliant’s sigh,

The weary enter into rest;

Here may the contrite to Thee cry,

And waiting souls be richly bless’d.

4: Here, when the gospel sound is heard,

And here proclaim’d the saving name,

May hearts be quicken’d, mov’d, and stirr’d,

And souls be kindled into flame.

5: Here may the dead be made to live,

The dumb to sing, the deaf to hear;

And do Thou to the humble give

Pardon and peace instead of fear.

6: Make this, O Lord, Thine own abode;

Thy presence in these courts be giv’n;

Be this, indeed, the house of God,

And this in truth the gate of heaven.

Thank You Jesus,

The Power of God’s Word: Unpacking the Truth

No Contradictions In The Word of God

1 Peter 1:25 (NLT), “But the word of the Lord remains forever. And that word is the Good News that was preached to you.”

God’s Word is truth, offering overwhelming victory to believers who diligently study and apply its wisdom. However, many are too caught up in life’s affairs to prioritize Scripture, relying on occasional teachings from the pulpit or social media. This poses a danger when false teachings contradict God’s Word, leading some to question its authority.

A popular misconception arises from Romans 3:28 and James 2:24, which seem to contradict each other. Romans 3:28 states that justification comes through faith, while James 2:24 emphasizes the importance of works in justification. However, these verses complement each other. Faith alone saves us, but a life of faith is not isolated from good works and obedience.

Paul teaches that our sinful nature died with Jesus (Romans 6:2, 6). Now, we choose to live by the Holy Spirit, not the flesh (Romans 8:13-14). Our recreated spirits, empowered by God, enable us to resist sin and live for Him.

Don’t be deceived by false claims that the Word contradicts itself. Hold fast to God’s truth, relying on the Holy Spirit’s guidance and power.

Prayer Points:

1. Ask for a deeper understanding of God’s Word.

2. Pray for discernment to distinguish truth from false teachings.

3. Seek the Holy Spirit’s guidance in living a righteous life.

4. Request strength to resist sin and obey God’s commands.

5. Pray for a hunger to study and apply Scripture.

Bible Verses:

1. Romans 3:28

2. James 2:24

3. Romans 6:2, 6

4. Romans 8:13-14

5. 2 Timothy 3:16-17

6. Psalm 119:105

7. Hebrews 4:12

8. Matthew 7:24-25

Declaration and Confession:

“I stand on the authority of God’s Word, trusting in its truth and guidance. By the Holy Spirit’s power, I choose to live a life of faith, obedience, and righteousness through Christ Jesus My Lord and Personal Saviour! Amen.”

May God’s Word be a lamp unto your feet and a light unto your path in Jesus Christ mighty name! Amen. May you continue to grow in faith, wisdom, and obedience to His truth through Christ Jesus our Lord and Saviour! Amen.

The Gift of Righteousness and Prayer Points

THREE KEY ELEMENTS OF RIGHTEOUSNESS

For if by one man’s offence death reigned by one; much more they which receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness shall reign in life by one, Jesus Christ (Romans 5:17).

The nature of God has manifold descriptions, and one of such is that which demonstrates HIS RIGHTNESS and PERFECTION. God just can’t be wrong, because He is God. He’s the yardstick for measuring what is right; the reference for rightness. In everything and all situations, He’s perfect, just and right. That’s His character!

Secondly, RIGHTEOUSNESS is the nature of God that’s imparted to the human spirit to produce in him the rightness of God. Righteousness is a gift, and when God imparts a human spirit with it, that person will immediately have the rightness of God in his or her heart and just know what is right.

Thirdly, righteousness gives or produces RIGHT STANDING. Right standing is that ability to stand before God without condemnation or inferiority. No ordinary man can stand before God until God gives him the ability to stand in His presence and talk with Him without fear, inferiority, or condemnation.

Someone might ask, what if I feel condemned or inferior before God? That you feel a sense of guilt, condemnation or inferiority in the presence of God doesn’t mean you’re guilty, condemned or inferior. Let me tell you what to do if you feel overwhelmed by such negative emotions: get into the Word of God and begin studying and meditating on the Word. Before long, the Word will rid you of those wrong emotions of the senses.

The Word of God is a cleanser (John 15:3); it builds your faith and confidence (Acts 20:32). Also remember what the Bible says: “For if our heart condemn us, God is greater than our heart, and knoweth all things” (1 John 3:20). God’s Word is greater than your emotions. It imparts to you the truth about who you are. That knowledge destroys every sense of guilt, condemnation, or inferiority, and inspires the confidence of the Spirit in you. Hallelujah! Amen!

PRAYER and CONFESSION

Thank you, Lord, for the gift of righteousness. I rejoice because I have your nature in me, which produces rightness in me and gives me the ability to stand before you without fear, condemnation or inferiority. Your Word imparts to me the confidence of the Spirit, and I walk in the boldness and assurance that come from knowing that my righteousness is of you. Hallelujah!

Treasuring God’s Word in a Complacent World and Prayer Points

A Famine of Hearing

Like most of the Old Testament prophets, Amos was chosen by God to deliver a message of repentance and judgement; “Seek the Lord and live, or He will sweep through the house of Joseph like a fire” (Amos 5:6). God was calling His people to return, but they had wandered far from His presence and showed no interest in a life of worship. The economy of their day was thriving and the people had few needs which went unfulfilled; they were content and saw little need for God.

Through Amos, God sent a strong warning. Although He promises to answer all who respond to His call – “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved” (Joel 2:32), and He promises to be VERY patient, “not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance” (2 Peter 3:9), God also warns that the opportunity to hear His Word may not always be available.

Amos 8:11-12 says, “‘The days are coming,’ declares the Sovereign Lord, ‘when I will send a famine through the land – not a famine of food or a thirst for water, but a famine of hearing the words of the Lord. Men will stagger from sea to sea and wander from north to east, searching for the word of the Lord, but they will not find it.'”

When we hear the Word of God, the door is open and we are in the middle of a God-directed opportunity. At that moment, we have the opportunity to respond to the truth and draw closer to our Heavenly Father. But when we reject His Word, we begin to close the door and harden our heart – and the opportunity begins to fade.

We have been blessed to live during this time in history. Yes, we face the unrelenting pressures of an over-indulgent, self-consumed society; but we have also been blessed with a wonderful abundance of the Word of God. In most parts of the world we have the freedom to worship with other believers and full access to truth-filled teaching. In fact, God’s Word has become so readily available that many of us take it for granted.

In the midst of our overflowing blessings, it is easy to become complacent and no longer treasure His precious gift. But what would happen if His Word was taken away? What would the world be like if no one was allowed to speak or hear the Word of God? What if we searched for His Word and it could not be found?

Our Heavenly Father loves us dearly. He “wants ALL men to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth” (1 Timothy 2:4); and He wants those who believe to be “conformed to the likeness of His Son” (Romans 8:29). Our Father continues to call us to know Him with a greater and more intimate love. Let’s make the most of this awesome opportunity by receiving the Word of God, with a hungry anticipation, and then by obediently responding to His call. Let’s shake off ALL forms of complacency and rejoice that we do not yet live during a famine of hearing.

The Spirit of Excellence: Lessons from Daniel in the Bible. Prayer Points for the Spirit of Excellence

MILESTONES FOR EXCELLENCE

By Pastor Peter Ali

FOOD FOR THOUGHT!!

“But Daniel purposed in his heart that he would not defile himself with the portion of the king’s meat, nor with the wine which he drank: therefore he requested of the prince of the eunuchs that he   not defile himself” [DANIEL 1:8].

Good morning dearly beloved and welcome to the first midweek in October which once again we meet in the evening at 8:00pm to hold our first Bible study. This offers us the opportunity to dig deep into His word thereby giving us the opportunity for our spiritual growth in Him in Jesus name. Please, don’t miss it in Jesus name Amen.

The excellent believers of the Bible days were people of great virtues. A close look at their lives, reveal, some of these virtues and winning principles which they have in common. If we too must excel in any aspect of life, we would need to learn from them as stated in DANIEL 1:8 says from the above FOOD FOR THOUGHT!!

One thing we see in the life of Daniel is that he was a man of purpose. He knew what he wanted and how to prevent what he never desired.   He knew where he was going. He pre-empted the temptations and took decisive steps to contain them. The battle against sin is fought and decided ever before you get into that situation.

Whether you will yield or not to sin, will first be registered in your heart, purpose, and disposition [PROVERBS 4:23]. If you consider a particular sin not offensive, you are likely to become its victim. Any sin you cannot hate with a passion may end up defeating you. If you continue to keep company with evil doers, you will find yourself vulnerable to follow their wicked ways [EXODUS 23:2; 2 SAMUEL 13:1-14]. Excellence forbids you from following the wrong crowd. Child of God, you stand out!

Another trait in Daniel was his control over his stomach. He kept his appetite in check. Anyone who would excel must be ready to watch what he eats, and when he eats. If you lose control over your stomach, it will get you into trouble. The flesh craves to be filled. If your flesh is filled, your spirit will starve. If you cannot fast or do without food, God ceases to be yours: your flesh takes over. Hence to excel, you must be like the mature princes that eat only for strength and at the right time [ECCLESIATES 10:16 -17].

In DANIEL 6:4-10, when a decree prohibiting prayer was passed, Daniel opened his windows wide. Although there are times when public will be a show, there are times when it can also be a challenge like in the case of Daniel. You need to let people know you belong to the God of gods. If children of the devil who should be ashamed of their father and deeds are not, why should you be ashamed of the One whom you should be proud of?

Friend, if you want to excel you will not hide your identity as a Christian. Some believers work or school for a year or more without disclosing their identity. It shows how far they are from excellence, no matter how much they pray for it. If light is anywhere, it will show. If you are light of the world, it will show. Are you truly representing the Master?

Dearly beloved, I pray, ask God for the Spirit of Excellence to operate in every area of your life. Friend, list several things you can do to excel in Business, at work, ministry, academics, family etc and do them in Jesus Christ amazing and

 Victorious name Amen- Shalom.

Prayer Points For The Spirit Of Excellence:

1. Ask God for the Spirit of Excellence to operate in every area of your life.

2. Pray for purpose and clarity in your decisions and actions.

3. Request self-control and discipline to overcome temptations.

4. Seek courage to stand out as a Christian in all aspects of life.

5. Pray for wisdom to make choices that honour God through Christ Jesus.

6. Ask for strength to resist sin and its enticing influences.

7. Pray for boldness to share your faith and represent Christ Jesus everywhere you go.

8. Request guidance to prioritize spiritual growth and development in Christ Jesus.

Bible Verses For The Spirit Of Excellence:

Delivered from Danger: A Testimony of God’s Protection from Kidnappers

A Miraculous Escape from Kidnappers

Yesterday, I experienced a harrowing ordeal that left me shaken but grateful for God’s timely intervention. I had spent the day preparing documents at the High Court and making inquiries at First Bank regarding our association’s account opening. With time running out, I hastily boarded a Keke drop to meet the 4 pm bank closure deadline.

After completing my bank transactions, I headed to Abakpa and waited at the Old Park Roundabout bus stop. A small shuttle bus arrived, and I entered, assuming it was a regular commercial vehicle. However, upon entering, the conductor directed me to the back seat, where another passenger was already seated. The bus accelerated quickly, leaving me trapped.

As I glanced at the passenger beside me, I noticed a jerk-knife with blood dripping from it. Memories of social media stories about kidnappers using shuttle buses to abduct victims flooded my mind. I realized I was in grave danger.

The bus’s loud music and tinted windows made escape seem impossible. Panic set in as I silently prayed for a way out. The conductor blocked the door, and I felt trapped.

Just as all hope seemed lost, a car made a sudden U-turn, halting the bus’s movement. Seizing the opportunity, I pushed the conductor aside and leapt out of the bus. The would-be kidnappers were caught off guard, and their accomplice hastily entered another vehicle, fleeing the scene.

Left shaken on the roadside, I couldn’t help but ponder the horrific fate I had narrowly escaped. Kidnapping, organ harvesting, and ransom demands – the possibilities sent shivers down my spine.

Today, I’m still reeling from the experience, but my heart overflows with gratitude to God for delivering me from evil. His protection and mercy are undeniable.

Please join me in thanking God for saving me from the clutches of kidnappers.

A Miraculous Escape from Kidnappers Part 2

Just two days ago, at Chris Chemist roundabout near Old Park, I experienced a harrowing ordeal. God miraculously rescued me from kidnappers posing as commercial bus transporters in an ENTRACO shuttle bus.

In broad daylight, without arousing suspicion, they operated with eerie normalcy. I boarded, unaware of the danger lurking within. But for God’s divine intervention, my fate would have been sealed.

A timely car diversion created an opportunity for escape. With newfound strength, I pushed the conductor blocking the door and leapt to safety. Shaken, I realized the horrific truth: I had narrowly escaped organ harvesters.

The thought of the ransom demands and potential consequences still haunts me. “What if…” echoes in my mind. God’s protection is my only solace.

Prayer Points:

  1. Thank God for deliverance from kidnappers, organ harvesters and potential harm.
  • Ask God to heal emotional wounds and trauma.
  • Pray for protection from future harm and evil plans.
  • Request God’s guidance and wisdom in times of uncertainty.
  • Intercede for others who may be victims of kidnapping and exploitation.
  • Express gratitude for God’s timely intervention and salvation.
  • Ask God to expose and bring to justice those involved in evil activities.
  • Ask God to expose and bring to justice those involved in human trafficking.
  • Pray for peace and comfort in the face of fear and uncertainty.

Bible Verses:

1. Psalm 91:3-4 – “For he will rescue you from every trap and protect you from deadly disease.”

2. Isaiah 43:1-3 – “Do not fear, for I have redeemed you; I have summoned you by name; you are mine.”

3. Psalm 40:1-3 – “I waited patiently for the Lord; he turned to me and heard my cry. He lifted me out of the slimy pit…”

4. 2 Timothy 4:18 – “The Lord will rescue me from every evil attack and will bring me safely to his heavenly kingdom.”

5. Psalm 23:4 – “Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for you are with me…”

6. Jeremiah 29:11 – “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you…”

7. Psalm 121:7-8 – “The Lord will keep you from all harm—he will watch over your life; the Lord will watch over your coming and going…”

Bible Verses for Trauma and Healing:

1. Psalm 34:18 – “The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit.”

2. Isaiah 61:1-3 – “He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted…”

4. 2 Corinthians 1:3-4 – “Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort.”
