MESSAGE:

It seems like sooner or later everyone gets mistreated and hurt. Many times the actions against us are unintentional, but other times they can be extremely malicious. Suddenly, this hurt begins to invade every other area of our life. We carry a heavy burden which we know we don’t deserve – and which we certainly don’t desire to keep – but it’s a burden we can’t seem to let go.

There is only one true way to relieve the burden of our hurt, and it always begins with forgiveness. True forgiveness can be difficult and require great humility. We want the other person to first ask (maybe even beg) for our forgiveness. We would like them to admit the hurt they caused; and, if we are honest, we probably would prefer them to suffer… just a little. But this is generally not God’s plan.

“Bear with each other and forgive whatever grievances you may have against one another. Forgive as the Lord forgave you.” (Colossians 3:13)

If we have come to a saving faith in Jesus Christ, we have first come face to face with our sinful nature. Without an understanding that we are full of sin, we will never reach out for a savior. And if we have experienced the true meaning of God’s love, “while we were still sinners, Christ died for us” (Romans 5:8), we will be compelled to reach out and love others. If we truly understand His forgiveness of us, can we really withhold our forgiveness of those who have caused us pain?

Jesus told a parable of a man who failed to forgive a small debt when his master had just forgiven him a much greater debt: “‘Shouldn’t you have had mercy on your fellow servant just as I had on you?’ In anger his master turned him over to the jailers to be tortured, until he should pay back all he owed” (Matthew 18:33-34). Do we really understand how much we have been forgiven, or our inability to repay? Yet our debt has been completely forgiven by grace through faith in Jesus, and we are now commanded to forgive others.

God established the standard for forgiveness. We are not called to forgive because someone deserves or has earned our forgiveness, we are called to forgive simply because God first forgave us. When we forgive, we must strive to make the forgiveness complete; “For I will forgive their wickedness and will remember their sins no more” (Hebrews 8:12). Though we may carry a healthy level of new caution as the relationship continues, we must never place conditions on maintaining our forgiveness.

There WILL be times when we are burdened with hurt. But let’s not seek revenge or try to withdraw and hide our pain. Let’s follow the commands of God’s Word and be set free! Let’s grow closer to our Heavenly Father and see through His eyes. Let’s share His love and forgive as He forgave.

MORNING DEW

Prophetic Declaration for Today

SCRIPTURAL REF: EZRA 1:1 KJV

Now in the first year of Cyrus king of Persia, that the word of the LORD by the mouth of Jeremiah might be fulfilled, the LORD stirred up the spirit of Cyrus king of Persia, that he made a proclamation throughout all his kingdom, and put it also in writing, saying……

I BELIEVE

I believe that the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, to make me what God wants me to be in this year of my enlargement, in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen.

– ISAIAH 54:2 KJV

WEEKLY PROPHETIC CONFESSION

I confess that my God is terrible [awesome] in HIS works! Through the greatness of His power will my enemies submit themselves unto me and my family, in the name of Jesus Christ.

PSALM 66:3 KJV

PROPHETIC EXHORTATION AND DECLARATIONS

Beloved, the Lord will STIR UP the SPIRITS of your HELPERS to favour you, in the name of Jesus Christ.

A helper is a patron, a supporter, a backer, a benefactor, a sponsor, a promoter, a donor, a contributor, a subscriber, a subsidizer, a philanthropist, a good Samaritan, a sympathizer, a well-wisher, a giver, and an angel. Hallelujah!

When the Lord stirs up the spirit of a man to bless you, you are made. When the Lord stirred up the spirit of King Cyrus, the Israelites were favoured.

When the Lord stirred up the spirit of King Evil-Merodach, the King of Babylon, he lifted up the head of King Jehoiachin of Judah out of prison in Babylon. He spoke kindly to him, he promoted him above other kings in Babylon, he changed his prison garments, he was made to sit and eat at the King’s table, and he was given a daily rate allowance for the rest of his life. Hallelujah!

I prophesy, today, God will touch the spirits and the hearts of those that will favour you, He will touch your helpers of destiny, and your life will never remain the same again, in the name of Jesus Christ.

I decree, God will make men to remember you. King David remembered his covenant with Jonathan and his son Mephiboseth was lifted up. You will be remembered for the good deeds of your parents, those seating on your inheritance will be overthrown and your inheritance will be delivered to you, in the name of Jesus Christ.

King Ahasuerus had a sleepless night because God wanted to favour Mordecai, Esther and the Jews in shushan.

I prophesy, God will take sleep away from your helpers, your helpers will not know peace until you are settled, in the name of Jesus Christ.

I see God changing your storyline, changing your garments, sending you helpers, lifting you to your desired level, enter your next level with joy and gladness, in the name of Jesus Christ.

Prophesy and tell God to touch the hearts of men for you to be favoured, in the name of Jesus Christ.

Praise the Lord! Praise the living Jesus!

You are welcome brethren, to the presence of the Most High God; I want to thank God for the privilege of life, I’m standing here because God gives me life and I believe it’s the same with each and every one of us, we are here because we have the breath of God in us, Father, thank You; and I’d like to on behalf of the pastor in charge of province, Pastor Tunde Netufo, welcome you all once again back from the annual convention.

You will notice our daddy is not here this morning, there is still a service – a final service at the Redemption Camp to close the annual convention camp, so he’s at the Redemption camp with mommy, but their prayers are with us; and in the same breath I want to appreciate him for the privilege to stand here before you this morning, the name of God will be glorified in the mighty name of Jesus.

I want to encourage as many of us who did not in any way join the annual convention; in any way you didn’t join it, you didn’t even hear or you didn’t know what they were talking about, please take time, go on to the YouTube or to the website of the Redeemed Christian Church of God and just go through the messages and prayer points, and I’m trusting God that the same impact you would have received if you were part of it, you will get it in the mighty name of Jesus.

There will be no prayer chain tomorrow, still as part of the spillover from the annual convention, so tomorrow we’ll take a break from prayer chain, but that does not mean prayer will stop; so brethren, in your respective homes, light up your prayer altar and let’s take our prayers – let’s tarry before the Lord Almighty.

By the grace of God our mid-week services will start on Tuesday with the digging deep, and then we’ll have the faith clinic/ the Holy Communion service on Thursday, by the grace of God, praise the living Jesus!

Please turn with me to the Book of Matthew 24: 37-39; “But as the days of Noah were, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be. 38For us in the days that were before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noah entered into the ark. 39And knew not until the flood came, and took them all away; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be”. Praise the living Jesus!

By the grace of God we’ll go through a message that I titled “As the days of Noah’, praise the living Jesus! This month has been declared prophetically for us (in this assembly) as our month of celebration, and our reference text is Isaiah 1: 19; and I trust God thatindeed, in the life of every one of us, there will be reasons to celebrate, there will be reasons to rejoice, therewill be something remarkable that we’ll say yes, this is what the Lord has done.In the same way, the theme of the convention has been ‘beyond expectations’; I believesome people are already dancing, some people are already rejoicing and celebrating, and some will still do.

But brethren, our message this morning is a kind of caution, a kind of warning and even for some people maybe a reminder that even in the midst of celebrations, we need to take care so that we do not lose what is more important to us as we do celebrate the things that we see.

So very briefly, we’ll go through the message this morning; there are many reasons why people celebrate: it can be celebration of retirement after 30 years of meritorious service and people will call their friends, their family members and say come and rejoice with me; it can be birthday celebration: oh I’m 50, I’m 70, I’m 90, come and thank the Lord on my behalf; so it’s good to rejoice, as a matter of fact, the annual convention of the Redeemed Christian Church of God is a form of celebration because we are saying to God ‘thank You for 71 years of faithfulness’, so celebration is not a bad thing, it’s a good thing. In the midst of celebration however, we must not put our eyes away from the goal of our lives, from the objective of our lives.

So we’ll take a few key lessons quickly and then look at certain potential pitfalls that may come out of celebrations so that we can avoid them and so that our celebration shall be real indeed. If you turn with me to the Book of 1st Chronicles 4: 9; there was a man called Jabez, and he went before the Lord and said bless me, do this do that, enlarge my coast, and God answered him, (verse 10), but then he prayed a prayer and said, ‘God please, in the midst of all these, don’t let this happiness, don’t let this rejoicing, don’t let this celebration grieve me’; he’s saying don’t let this celebration bring something that I will not be able to deal with unto me, and I pray that prayer for each and every one of us, because I trust God that indeed we’ll celebrate, but the celebration will not take you away from God in the mighty name of Jesus; the celebration will not take away your salvation in the mighty name of Jesus.

So the first lesson we are going to look at is that celebration is meant to be an integral part of the life of a Christian. You know the way many of us take celebration, it’s as if it’s an occasional thing, something happens, oh I just got promoted and we need to celebrate, but in the life of a child of God, celebration should be a regular and concerned thing.

3rd John 2 tells us, “Beloved, I wish above all things that you may prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth”; this passage is not talking about one incident, it’s talking about something that happens consistently in the life of a Christian. 1st Thessalonians 5: 16 tells us “Rejoice evermore”; how many times is evermore? All the time, praise God!

Philippians 4: 4 says, “Rejoice in the Lord always: and again I say, rejoice”; so in the life of a child of God, in the life of a Christian, celebration is a regular and continuous event; it’s not a one-time thing, it’s not something that just happens and you’ll say oh, let’s go and paint the town red; it should be every minute, every second, every day, every week; in the mighty name of Jesus, so it shall be in your life in Jesus name.

The second key lesson here is that many of us have limited celebration to only material things of this world. You know somehow, our minds have been conditioned to the definition of celebration being the hype when those big things happen; I’m moving from Gbagada to Ikoyi, come and rejoice with me; but even while you were in Gbagada, you had reasons to celebrate.

Many people only consider the physical and material things as the need for them to celebrate, what about good health, do we celebrate good health? What about celebrating breaking new grounds? Anytime you hear that a new mission field has happened or people in a mission field begin to give their lives to Jesus, what about celebrating those? There are many more things to celebrate brethren, don’t let us limit celebrations to those.

Please don’t get me wrong, there is nothing wrong in you buying a new car and say I want to celebrate, all well and good, praise the Lord! There’s nothing wrong, and that will happen to someone here in the name of Jesus.

There is nothing wrong in saying I just completed my house in Banana Island, pastor please come and rejoice with me, wonderful! But we are saying even in the midst of all of that, don’t forget, don’t wait until that one time event, there are always things in the life of a child of God that calls for celebration, praise the living Jesus!

There’s a story in Luke 15: 16 -32, we’ll not be able to take all of it but it was about this young man called The Prodigal Son; he was living with his father, he had everything but he didn’t value what he had, so he didn’t see any need to celebrate; but he saw people out there celebrating, going to nightclub, heaven and earth; he said father, I want that type of life, I also want to celebrate, this place is too boring, this life is too boring, so he manipulated his father and got what he needed to be and left; the Bible says he had a brief period of what he called ‘celebration’ but that period soon ended and he started a long period of suffering.

Brethren, that is to say sometimes, the things that we call celebrations are indeed not celebrations. Then he got up to himself one day and came back to his father, and came back home to what is called the real celebration; what happened to that young man was that he had salvation, he had good health, he had peace, he had joy, he had cover over his head; is somebody here who has cover over his or her head? Somebody here who has peace, and you are still thinking, God give me a reason to celebrate, don’t look for celebration out there, God has already given it to you, find reasons in the things that God has done and celebrate the grace of God upon your life.

The young man eventually realized that he was wrong; he came back home, and the ‘father’ there is our heavenly Father, every time as we come back to Him, His arms are open to receive us, praise the Lord!

The third one, (I’d like to single this out) is if there is nothing else that you want to celebrate brethren, you have salvation, celebrate your salvation. Why should I celebrate salvation? You know the meaning of salvation? You were once in darkness, you were once doomed, you were once going to hell, you were once condemned, and then Jesus Christ says I find you, brings you out of darkness into His marvelous life.

1st Peter 2: 9 &10, He brought us out from condemnation into a new life, isn’t that worthy of celebration? Imagine somebody who has been condemned to death by fire, continuous and eternal fire, now transits to eternal life, isn’t it worthy of celebration? If you are a child of God indeed, brethren, if there is nothing else, celebrate your salvation, praise the living Jesus! Celebrate your salvation even if there’s nothing else.

The Bible tells us that there is rejoicing in heaven by the angels over every soul that is saved. If the angels celebrate salvation, why would you not? Do not take celebration for granted, somebody paid with it even though it appears to be cheap; we have been bought with a price, and the Bible tells us that that price is the blood of Jesus. The priceless blood of Jesus paid for us, redeemed us, let us celebrate our salvation; at the end of today, if there’s anyone here who has no reason to celebrate should only be someone who is not saved, and I want to believe God that today, if there are people who are not saved, you have a lot more to celebrate, but first come, accept the Lord Jesus as your Lord and Savior and you’ll begin to celebrate salvation and many other things in the mighty name of Jesus.

The devil understands this, that we only look for milestone events to celebrate and tends to warp the meaning of celebration, and tends to hide away from us the need to celebrate salvation, to celebrate good health, to celebrate peace, to celebrate joy, to celebrate our marriage, to celebrate the children God has given unto us; he says wait until you complete that house, and in the presence of waiting until you complete that house, God is looking at you as an ingrate.

The devil tells you, what is there to celebrate, your mates are buying brand new Lexus Jeep, you have only bought tokunbo, what is it to celebrate there? Wait until your own time comes, when you have your G-wagon; but we do as though we own our lives and time, and in the process, God is saying I have given you this one thing, celebrate it first; the devil will not rob you of the joy of celebration in the mighty name of Jesus.

So very briefly we’ll look at some possible pitfalls, certain ways that the devil has turned around situations or circumstances that are supposed to be celebration, but the devil used it to steal the life or the joy out of the people, these are all biblical;

The first one says, please don’t take away your spiritual antenna in the cause of celebration; the example we are going to use here is in Numbers 25:1; the Bible tells us that the children of Israel abode in Shittim, and they began to commit whoredom; I’ll give you a background to this.

In Numbers 23: 19 – 23, the Bible says God even made a boast about the children of Israel that these ones are my children; the king and the prophet (Balaam and Balak) attempted to curse them, but every time they wanted to curse, God caused them to bless them; so the children of Israel were so full of themselves and said oh, God is our own, and they were celebrating that, and in the midst of celebration (verse 2) they began to party with the people that God has warned them against, they lost the consciousness of who they are, they forgot that they were children of the Most High God, they forgot they were Christians and before you know it, they started going into illicit affairs with them; before you know it, they began to commit adultery; before you know it, the anger of God came down upon them and in one day (the Bible tells us), God killed 24, 000 of them; celebration led to death; may your celebration never lead to death in the mighty name of Jesus.

How does this apply to us? Many of us, sometimes they’d say oh we’re having a party, come; you’d say I don’t … they’d say, just come, you don’t have to take anything, but before you know it, they’d say take a little, this water is too simple now; just something a little; before you know it, they’d add something to the water; before you know it, they’d say oh meet my friend, they introduce to you a lady; before you know it, they leave you with the lady and leave you alone; set up, isn’t it? And then celebration turns to something else, and then salvation is taken away; may that not be our portion in the name of Jesus.

Brethren, whenever you have anything to celebrate, don’t forget who you are, you are a child of God first and foremost; you’re a Christian, let your spiritual antenna remain sharp and focused, and you will never lose it in the name of Jesus.

The second possible instance where celebration may go wrong is desecration of the Lord’s temple in the name of celebration can lead to death, praise the Lord!

There’s a story in Daniel 5; a king named Belshazzar; he was happy, he called out a feast and his people were drinking, all of a sudden he said my father locked up a room, and (he said) there were some things there – antiques that they brought from Jerusalem, sacred items of the God of heaven that they said nobody should touch it, what is the meaning of that? My father is dead, grandfather is dead, please open it, those are the things we are going to use to drink wine today.

So they took all the vessels that were taken from the house of God, sacred vessels of God, they were using them to drink wine and all sorts; not only that, the Bible says they used it to pour libation unto their gods – their god of silver, their god of gold, their god of wood and all that, desecrating the temple of the Most High God. Before the end of that day, he saw a hand writing ‘Mene, Mene, Tekel’; he didn’t know what it was, he was confused, eventually he got the meaning ‘your time is up, we have measured you, you have no stand; today, life will be taken out of you’, and before the end of that day, he lost his throne and he died, what happened? Desecrating the temple of the Most High God.

How does this apply to us? In 1st Corinthians 6: 15 – 20, the Bible says, know ye not that your bodies are the temple of the Most High God? Ye are members of Christ, you are not members of harlot, God forbid. Then another passage, 1st Corinthians 3: 16 – 17 says the same thing; ‘know ye not that your body is the temple of the Most High God’; verse 17 is strong here, ‘if any man defies that temple, him shall God destroy’.

Brethren, you are a child of God; this your body, this your person, is the temple of the Most High God; anything that you do to desecrate this temple will incur the wrath of God just like Belshazzar incurred the wrath of God because he desecrated the temple of the Most High God.

Fornication is a desecration of the temple of God; lies, stealing, killing, backbiting and the likes; desist from it, even in the midst of your celebration, do not forget who you are; if you desecrate the temple of the Most High God, the Lord Almighty will destroy whoever does that because that temple, that body, is the temple of the Most High God.

Number three: even as you do your celebrations, brethren, do not forget to acknowledge God as your source. I’ve often said it here, there is nobody that is a self-made man; if there’s anyone that says I worked hard and because of my hard work I made it, welcome; there are many people who work harder than you do.

Somebody says, it’s because I’m careful, I don’t eat this I don’t eat that, that’s why my health is good, indeed; there are many people who do more and they are battling with different health challenges. The Bible says ‘it is not of him that willeth, nor of him that runneth, it is the Lord that sheweth mercy’.

I read sometime back (about two years ago or three) the account of a young man somewhere in Asia, who was very conscious of health; he will not eat this, he will not do that, he will do exercise, he will do everything, he was trim he was that, one day he dropped dead at 42; meanwhile there are people who eat anything – amala, everything poured together, and they are 80 and still enjoying their lives; is it about what we do?

I’m not saying don’t take care of your body, but I’m saying it is all about God; you do what you need to do, but it’s not about you, praise the Lord!

Now let’s look at the scripture; so there was this man in Luke 12: 16 – 21, the Bible tells us that the man has just gotten a bountiful harvest and he began to say hey, the harvest has come, my hard work has yielded results, now it is time for me to enjoy; and God questioned him, is it truly your effort? Is it truly your harvest? Today, the life shall be taken out of him, and indeed the life was taken out of him; celebration turned to something else because he failed to acknowledge God.

Brethren, in the midst of your celebration, whatever it is you are celebrating, remember to acknowledge God as your source, remember to acknowledge God as the all in all, praise the Lord!

Number four: whenever you have cause to celebrate, don’t ignore the less privileged, don’t ignore those who do not have any, don’t even flaunt it, don’t even use it to toin, don’t do that.

There’s a story in Luke 16 that we all know, the rich man and Lazarus; the Bible tells us in verse 19, it says, “There was a certain rich man, which was clothed in purple and fine linen, and fared sumptuously every day”. ‘Fared sumptuously every day’ to me means every day to him was celebration, but there was also at his gate a beggar, and this man cared not at all for this beggar even though he was celebrating every day. Then the Bible says a time came, Lazarus died, he was taken away by the angels, the poor man died and he was buried; and then they have occasion to let us see what happened in the beyond: the only sin of that man, why he could not go to where Lazarus was because he ignored Lazarus in the cause of his celebration.

There are many people around us brethren, ₦1,000 will do a lot to a lot of people, but here we are, we do not remember them, we ignore them, we do not think about them; even when they come to us, we chase them away. Whenever you are in the mood of celebration, take thoughts for those who are less privileged; it can be being less privileged in money, it can be in idea, it can be in knowledge, in counsel, in whatever; anyone that needs support, assistance, in things that we have in excess, why would you not share? The Bible tells us anyway that whatsoever any man has, is given unto him from above, praise the living Jesus!

But I’d also like to balance it quickly, because some people will say pastor has said this, so as soon as we finish service today, they’ll be standing by the door looking at people who came with beautiful cars and they’ll say think about us. Proverbs 6: 6 – 10, “Go to the ant, thou sluggard; consider her ways, and be wise: 7Which having no guide, overseer, or ruler, 8provideth her meat in the summer, and gathereth her food in the harvest. 9How long wilt thou sleep, O sluggard? When wilt thou arise out of thy sleep?

If there’s anyone who is given to ‘Pastor has said it, please give me’, it will turn or amount to indulgence. The Bible is talking to us, go and work, go out there and make a living. This morning I was coming and I saw two different people, not fully abled body; one was carrying certain things to sell so that he can make money, the other one stood by the car and said please give me money, is it not possible to also go and do something and get money? Make an effort; in the process, God sees our heart, God sees your heart, He will send the help that is needed to you, but don’t let us indulge and begin to say oh, it’s been said, you must take care of us; it is not always like that, praise the living Jesus!

Number five: in the midst of celebration, don’t cover up your sins and when you need to backtrack, please do, because before God we are nothing.

I’m referring here to the story of Herod, Herodias and John the Baptist, Mark 14: 1 – 12; the Bible tells us that there was a celebration and Herod the King was in an excited state, and had said to the daughter of Herodias; by the way, Herodias was the wife of Philip, the brother of Herod, and John the Baptist had cautioned him.

So when Philip died, Herod took over the wife, and John the Baptist cautioned him that what you are doing is not right, so they locked John the Baptist.

I can imagine that the woman was not happy; every now and then she’d say how dare you talk to us like that? So the king said, I like the way you are dancing, daughter of my mistress, is there anything you want? On this day of celebration, ask me and I will give to you; and the mother taught her, go and ask for the head of John the Baptist. It was a difficult one; the king was celebrating, and then the lady came and said I want the head of John the Baptist; the King was taken aback, what should he have done? Backtrack, say I cannot do that, but you still went ahead and gave the head of John the Baptist.

In the midst of celebration before God, we are nobody. I believe the king was saying how can I, the king, I have said yes and I’ll now say no? Brethren, if you had said yes and you realize that the circumstances under which you said yes was not correct and the answer should have been no, please by all means, come back and say ‘I’m sorry’; it’s not too difficult, it’s not too big for anybody to say I’m sorry; do not let the fact that you have made a commitment and then you realize that you shouldn’t have done that, go back and say I am sorry, I thought it was this, but I realized now that this is what it is; but many of us will continue to do the wrong things even though we know it’s wrong, please backtrack, do not let celebration lead you to hell.

Number six: while we are celebrating, do not let us forget the most important celebration – the ultimate celebration; and here I will share the account of the ten virgins in Luke 25: 1- 13; the Bible tells us that there were 10 virgins, (you all know the story), five of them had extra oil, five did not have, they were waiting just as we are waiting for the second coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, and in the process, like I said every day is celebration, but they got carried away by the  transient celebration and forgot that there is an ultimate celebration, so they ran out of oil.

Please give me, I cannot be like you, I won’t give you, go and buy yours; before they came back, the bridegroom had come, the door had shut on them, what happened to them? They didn’t give it adequate thought; what if the Master comes late?

Brethren, every now and then they say Jesus Christ is coming; brethren, the coming may be only God knows how many more years, don’t kill yourself before He comes, don’t throw away your salvation before He comes, continue to ask the Lord Almighty for grace to sustain you until the coming of the Lord. If He comes while we’re alive, fine; if we go and transit position before He comes, all well and good; but brethren, do not forget, far and beyond all the celebrations here on earth, there is a celebration that is greater than all celebrations, it’s the ultimate celebration, you cannot afford to miss on that, praise the living Jesus!

So these five virgins, they missed out; even though they were Christians, tongue talking, spirit –filled, because they took their eyes off the ball for a moment, and before they came back, it was late. Do not say I will sin only this one time, I will come back to God and ask for mercy; do not say is it not only this  weekend? Who knows which weekend will be the last weekend? The Lord Almighty will have mercy on us in the mighty name of Jesus; we will not miss that ultimate celebration for anything in the mighty name of Jesus.

In conclusion brethren, as our text today tells us, in the days of Noah there was celebration, people were eating, people were drinking, they were giving in marriage, they were opening new houses, they were buying new cars, they were japa-ing everywhere all over the world, gallivanting; in the cause of all of these, only a handful continued to remember that there was an ultimate celebration, and only those, made it to the ark.

Do not let us forget that we are on a journey; do not let us forget that we are pilgrims; do not let us be too busy to miss out on that ultimate celebration, the Lord Almighty will help us in the mighty name of Jesus.

So how would we do this to ensure we do not get too busy or we don’t miss it? In 2nd Timothy 2: 2-6, the Bible tells us that we should not be entangled with the affairs of this world; we are in this world but we are not of this world; whatever we are doing, the moment we realize that this is getting out of who I am, my nationality, we belong to the commonwealth of heaven, say oh, I am not part of this; don’t get entangled with the affairs of this world because you may not have come out of that entanglement by the time the Master comes back.

Number two: 1st  Corinthians 9: 24 – 27, the Bible says we should strive lawfully to obtain the incorruptible crown. We should strive ‘lawfully’, which law are we referring to? The law of God; everything we do, let us measure ourselves by the laws of God, not the law of man. Strive lawfully; every day, work hard towards it; every day, make sure that you fulfill the law.

Number three: James 4: 7 – 10, “Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you”. The devil is on the prowl brethren, these are the last days, the devil also needs people, at the end of time, he would also want to count, how many do you have? May we never be one of those that he will count in the mighty name of Jesus.

But you must submit yourself to God completely, then you’ll be able to resist him and he will flee and say this one, no go area. In the book of Acts, the Bible tells us the devil says ‘Jesus I know, Paul I know, who are you’? The devil is saying I know Paul, he’s a no-go area; resist the devil.

And number final: do not forget who you are and whose we are; do not forget who you are, you have been bought with a price and you belong to God; live your life as one under the authority of God. We have been bought with a price, all earthly materials, all earthly celebrations, they will end here.

In the last couple of weeks, I have been part of a few funerals and all that, and I’ve not seen any of them that took their car with them, I didn’t see anyone that went with the house; all earthly possessions we will leave here, so we should invest in the one that will not be corrupted here. The Lord Almighty will help us in the mighty name of Jesus; surely, celebrations will come; surely, the Lord will exceed our expectations; surely, we will have reasons to dance and rejoice and come out and give testimonies; but why all these go on, brethren, do not let us forget that there is an ultimate celebration, you cannot afford to miss out on that.

If you are here this morning while the song goes on, you know all that we have been talking about, you are like that Prodigal Son, you used to be with God and you’ve backslidden, or you’ve never given your life to Jesus Christ, please, the most important celebration is that of the salvation of your soul; if you are not saved or you’ve lost your salvation, please raise your hand, we would like to pray quickly but we want you to be part of that.

Let us begin to give thanks to the Lord Almighty; I’m believing God and trusting God that every one of us here are saved, so we have things to celebrate; let’s celebrate our salvation, let us thank God for the salvation of our souls, let us celebrate our salvation, let us celebrate good health, let us celebrate the joy of the Lord, let us celebrate peace, let us celebrate His love, let us celebrate provision and protection, let us celebrate the roof that we have over us.

Father we thank You; let us celebrate the time that we have before Him this morning; Father we thank You, glory be Your name forevermore in Jesus mighty name we have prayed.

We are going to pray and say Father, that ultimate celebration, please help me to be part of it; whatever I need to do, Father, help me, I will not miss it for any reason, I will not miss heaven for anything, help me to be part of that ultimate celebration, in the mighty name of Jesus. Father please help me, help me oh Lord to be part of that ultimate celebration in the name of Jesus. Thank You heavenly Father, in Jesus marvelous name we prayed.

We are going to pray; many of us, some of these possible pitfalls, we see them and we’ve fallen from them before, but going forward, we will not fall again in the name of Jesus. We are going to pray and say Father, please enable me, give me grace in the midst of celebration never to forget my identity, never to forget who I am in the almighty name of Jesus. Never to lose focus of the end goal, in the mighty name of Jesus; please help me, help me O Lord, enable me, give me the grace oh Lord to do it right in the mighty name of Jesus; thank You heavenly Father, glory be to Your name forevermore, in Jesus mighty name we have prayed.

Father in heaven we thank You; King of glory we bless Your holy name; all glory, honor and adoration Lord we give to You; Father, we’ve heard Your word, let Your word find root in us in the mighty name of Jesus.

Please don’t let these words stand against any of us in the Day of Judgment, in Jesus mighty name we prayed.

The Beauty of Submission

SUBMISSION VS COOPERATION.

MEMORIZE:

“For after this manner in the old time the holy women also, who trusted in God, adorned themselves, being in subjection unto their own husbands.” – 1Peter 3:5

Read:

Ephesians 5:22-33

22.

Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as unto the Lord.

23.

For the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the church: and he is the saviour of the body.

24.

Therefore as the church is subject unto Christ, so let the wives be to their own husbands in everything.

25.

Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it;

26.

That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word,

27.

That he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish.

28.

So ought men to love their wives as their own bodies. He that loveth his wife loveth himself.

29.

For no man ever yet hated his own flesh; but nourisheth and cherisheth it, even as the Lord the church:

30.

For we are members of his body, of his flesh, and of his bones.

31.

For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and shall be joined unto his wife, and they two shall be one flesh.

32.

This is a great mystery: but I speak concerning Christ and the church.

33.

Nevertheless let every one of you in particular so love his wife even as himself; and the wife see that she reverence her husband.

MESSAGE:

Marriage is a beautiful gift from God; it is designed to bring joy and fulfilment to both partners. Like every other gift from God, it comes with a manual – the Word of God. In today’s Bible reading, there is a detailed description of how a husband and wife should relate with each other. Husbands are to love their wives as Christ loves the church, while wives are to submit to their husbands.

Many women don’t understand what submission really means. They say they are submissive, whereas they are only cooperative. Cooperation is agreeing with your husband because you want the same things. Submission, however, is complying with his wish even when you don’t agree.

Many women find it difficult to submit to their husbands because the society talks about gender equality. However, this is not what the Bible says about marriage.

Submission does not mean slavery or servitude, rather, it is a voluntary act of respect and obedience from a wife to her husband as the head of the home. When you obey your boss in the office, it is not because you are a slave, it is because there is a hierarchy that must be followed for things to go smoothly in the office. An English proverb says that two captains cannot sail a ship. As a wife, your husband is the captain of your marriage-ship; submitting to him is a key ingredient in ensuring that you have a blissful marriage.

Years ago, I used to preach regularly at a university, and a woman would usually come to me complaining about her husband’s stubbornness and asking me to pray the stubbornness away. After a while, I decided I wasn’t going to pray anymore. I told her, “When you get home, place his food on the dining table, call him your head, and ask him to come and eat. When he sits at the table, give him a bowl of water, kneel and let him wash his hands in it.” She said, “No way! He is a professor just like I am. We are the same.” I replied that if she wanted my help, she should take my advice. She decided to do it, and at first, her husband wondered if she had poisoned the food. She told him that her pastor taught her what she was doing, and suddenly, the stubborn husband became very soft. He followed her to the next service and became born again. Their marriage blossomed thereafter.

Key Point:

Submission is not slavery; it is a sign of wisdom for a successful marriage.

God Forgets, So Should You. Freedom from Past Mistakes

Blotted Out

“I, even I, am he that blotteth out thy transgressions for mine own sake, and will not remember thy sins” (Isa. 43:25).

“I guess I’m just paying for the life I lived before I got saved,” a minister who was having a hard time once said to me.

Many Christians, like that minister, are defeated, permitting things to take place in their lives, because they think that’s the way it has to be. They don’t know the difference between repentance and doing penance.

They try to do penance for their past life. But in reality, since they repented of their sins, God has no knowledge that they’ve ever done anything wrong!

“I blotted out your transgression,” God said, “for My own sake.” God didn’t do it for your sake, but for His own sake. “I will not remember your sins,” He promised. If God doesn’t remember them, why should you?

You shouldn’t!

When you were born again, you were redeemed from the penalty of sin. If you had to go on paying for your wrongdoing, you’d have to go to hell when you died, because that’s part of the penalty too.

However, thank God, we are redeemed not only from the power of sin, but also from the penalty of sin. Jesus took our place. He suffered the penalty of sin.

Confession: When I repented, my Heavenly Father blotted out my transgressions. He does not remember my sins. Therefore, I won’t remember them either. And I won’t remind Him of them.

Standing Firm on God’s Word

STAND ON WHAT IS WRITTEN

“And when the tempter came to him, he said, If thou be the Son of God, command that these stones be made bread. But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.” Matthew 4:3-4 (KJV)

Jesus didn’t need to prove anything before God said He was His beloved Son. God wasn’t telling a lie because God is not a liar, but the devil is. The devil showed up after God had spoken and said to Jesus: Do you want to believe God? No, don’t ever believe God! The devil intended to put doubt in His heart, but Jesus has already read in Deuteronomy 8:3 that man shall not live by bread alone but by every word that proceeds out of the mouth of God.

The devil was trying to force Jesus to depend on bread other than the word. Jesus said I have a solid foundation already, so I don’t need to doubt. He went ahead to tell Satan what was written. In other words, Satan, before you came, it was already written that man will not live by bread alone but by every word that proceeds from God’s mouth. So, you are late already. One would have thought that the devil would leave Jesus alone. No! He returned and said to Jesus that you are being deceived and that you are the son of God. This time, the devil goes spiritual and says since you are quoting the Bible, I will also quote from the Bible. “Then the devil taketh him up into the holy city, and setteth him on a pinnacle of the temple, And saith unto him, If thou be the Son of God cast thyself down…” (Matthew 4:5-6).

Beloved, you must be established and rooted in the word so that the devil will not deceive you. Know exactly what God has said and stand by it. Many charlatans, false prophets, and thieves in cassocks are deceiving people. Have nothing to do with them. Keep standing on what is written, just as Jesus did.

God’s Perfect Timing

Don’t Try to outrun God.

God makes everything beautiful in His time (Ecclesiastes 3:11). The pursuit of the vanities of this world has robbed many people of far greater and better blessings from God. It is not bad to want to achieve something great or pursue a good cause, but if you try to outrun God, you may never achieve that goal, and worse still, you may pay for it with something very precious to you. God knows your desires; in fact, it is likely that He is the one who put them there. He knows the best times and the best ways for those desires to be accomplished, so, don’t try to act smarter than the One who made your brain.

Years ago, I was duped by a man who promised to make me a commandant of a paramilitary group. This man had been sending messages to me through my secretary for a while, and so, one day, I gave him audience. He explained to me how a Boy-Scouts-like group had evolved into this new agency, and that he was sourcing for who would lead the group spiritually. Normally, I ask God before getting involved in anything at all, but this time, my love for the military in my younger days beclouded my best instincts, and I agreed to be their head. He told me that they needed some funding, which I gave as the prospective head. However, I later found out that the man was a fake. My desire to be part of a paramilitary group made me run ahead of God, but God had already purposed for Redemption City to have its own corps of chaplains as well as a local Police post. He knew the desire of my heart, and He had planned for it to be fulfilled in His own time. I thought that I could bring my desire to fulfilment at my own time, but I was wrong. What I lost in that experience was money, but for someone else, it might have been their life or a loved one.

The Bible makes it clear that God delights in our well-being and prosperity (Psalm 35:27), (3 John 1:2). Therefore, it is not wrong to desire wealth. He will definitely make you prosper, but in His own time. Beloved, follow God’s timing; don’t try to outrun Him.

Keeping Romance Alive In Your Marriage

The fact that you are a Christian does not in any way take romance out of your marriage. Marriage is the only institution where romance and intimacy is allowed between a man and a woman. Some pastors hardly go on dates with their spouses because they consider such a romantic activity as a distraction from their focus on spiritual matters. Some of them don’t even play with their spouses anymore. Beloved, the anointing does not reduce the need for romance in marriage.

Isaac was an anointed man of God and a successful businessman, yet in Genesis 26:8, the Bible says he was being romantic with his wife: And it came to pass, when he had been there a long time, that Abimelech king of the Philistines looked out at a window, and saw, and, behold, Isaac was sporting with Rebekah his wife. Don’t become too rigid in your marriage; don’t have more fun elsewhere without your spouse. Make the times that you and your spouse spend together so much fun that you are always looking forward to seeing each other again. If you are married, remember how you used to talk for long hours with your spouse before you got married and had children; revive that relationship again. Your spouse is still the same fellow you were very fond of, and the things you loved in him or her are still there. Don’t let all the cares of this life distract you from the gems in your spouse.

Once in a while, compose a poem for your spouse and read it to him or her in a romantic setting. Spice things up with pleasant surprises every now and then. Write a note and put it in his or her bag so that when they get to the office and open their bag, they will see the note and smile. Have a pet name that you call each other behind closed doors. Up until today, there is a pet name my wife calls me when we are alone. I equally have a pet name that I call her, and every time I call her by that name, she cannot but smile at me lovingly. When we are alone, we are lovers, not Daddy G.O and Mummy G.O. Your marriage can be like heaven on earth if you and your spouse are deliberate about remaining the lovebirds that you were when you first got married.

Don’t let the romance die.

Vessels of Honor or Dishonor. Consequences of Disobedience

VESSELS UNTO DISHONOUR

MEMORISE: The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit: a broken and a contrite heart, O God, thou wilt not despise.   Psalm 51:17

READ: 1 Samuel 15:1-15

1 Samuel also said unto Saul, The LORD sent me to anoint thee to be king over his people, over Israel: now therefore hearken thou unto the voice of the words of the LORD.

2 Thus saith the LORD of hosts, I remember that which Amalek did to Israel, how he laid wait for him in the way, when he came up from Egypt.

3 Now go and smite Amalek, and utterly destroy all that they have, and spare them not; but slay both man and woman, infant and suckling, ox and sheep, camel and ass.

4 And Saul gathered the people together, and numbered them in Telaim, two hundred thousand footmen, and ten thousand men of Judah.

5 And Saul came to a city of Amalek, and laid wait in the valley.

6 And Saul said unto the Kenites, Go, depart, get you down from among the Amalekites, lest I destroy you with them: for ye shewed kindness to all the children of Israel, when they came up out of Egypt. So the Kenites departed from among the Amalekites.

7 And Saul smote the Amalekites from Havilah until thou comest to Shur, that is over against Egypt.

8 And he took Agag the king of the Amalekites alive, and utterly destroyed all the people with the edge of the sword.

9 But Saul and the people spared Agag, and the best of the sheep, and of the oxen, and of the fatlings, and the lambs, and all that was good, and would not utterly destroy them: but everything that was vile and refuse, that they destroyed utterly.

10 Then came the word of the LORD unto Samuel, saying,

11 It repenteth me that I have set up Saul to be king: for he is turned back from following me, and hath not performed my commandments. And it grieved Samuel; and he cried unto the LORD all night.

12 And when Samuel rose early to meet Saul in the morning, it was told Samuel, saying, Saul came to Carmel, and, behold, he set him up a place, and is gone about, and passed on, and gone down to Gilgal.

13 And Samuel came to Saul: and Saul said unto him, Blessed be thou of the LORD: I have performed the commandment of the LORD.

14 And Samuel said, What meaneth then this bleating of the sheep in mine ears, and the lowing of the oxen which I hear?

15 And Saul said, They have brought them from the Amalekites: for the people spared the best of the sheep and of the oxen, to sacrifice unto the LORD thy God; and the rest we have utterly destroyed.

MESSAGE

Amongst the people you find in church, some are unto honor while others are unto dishonor, as we see in 2 Timothy 2:20:

But in a great house there are not only vessels of gold and of silver, but also of wood and of earth; and some to honor, and some to dishonor.

God, however, is not the One who makes some vessels unto honor and others unto dishonor. Rather, people, based on their behavior toward God and His instructions, choose for themselves if they will be unto honor or unto dishonor.

There are many people who say that since God is merciful, and His mercies are new every morning (Lamentations 3:22- 23), they can commit sin multiple times and ask Him for mercy multiple times. Therefore, they commit sin purposely, trusting that when they ask for mercy, God will have mercy. Some even say things like, “God, forgive me for what I am about to say.” They know it is a sin, but they ask for forgiveness and go ahead to say it. People like this are trying to make a fool out of the Most High God and will become vessels unto dishonor if they do not repent.

The wages of sin is death (Romans 6:23). Even if a Christian gives a big sacrifice or worships God deeply, if his or her heart is still in a sinful state, the wages of sin remain death.

In today’s Bible reading, God told Saul to kill all the Amalekites, but he decided to play on God’s intelligence by saying that it was the people who brought the king of Amalek and the choice animals back with them to Israel. We see the result of the disobedience in 1 Samuel 15:28:

And Samuel said unto him, The LORD hath rent the kingdom of Israel from thee this day, and hath given it to a neighbor of thine, that is better than thou.

Saul begged Samuel to let him worship God, but it was not out of true repentance. He only did that because he did not want to be embarrassed in the presence of his followers. In the next chapter, you will see that as much as Samuel pleaded on his behalf, God still asked him to anoint a new king as his replacement. God later sent an evil spirit to torment Saul, as he had become a vessel unto dishonor.

Beloved, be careful. Don’t toy with sin, and don’t try to play on God’s intelligence so that you don’t end up like Saul.

REFLECTION

Do you still indulge in the things that God has been warning you about? Beware, so that you don’t become a vessel unto dishonour.

The Great Tribulation: A Time of Unprecedented Trouble

The Last Days. The Tribulation.

Deuteronomy 4:30-31

INTRODUCTION:

The Second coming of Christ is an event that will surely take place after the following:

(I) Rapture

(ii) The Great Tribulation

(iii) The war of Armageddon and

(iv) The Millennial Reign.

After the Rapture of the Church, the scriptures predict that there is going to be a seven years Worldwide troubles called the Tribulation Dan 9:26-27 It is going to be the most awful time in the entire world’s history. Matt 24:21 These are going to be the days in which all calamities, oppression, distress, hopelessness etc predicted by Moses, Joel, Daniel and other prophets as well as those predicted by our Saviour, will meet in one common centre, and are going to be fulfilled in most terrible manner on this generation Luke 21:22. The question arises: Why is God going to allow such a severely perilous time to come upon the World? We shall be discussing these as we progress in this teaching. Zeph 1:14-17. The Great Tribulation is also called the time of Jacob’s trouble: Jer 30: 7, Deut 31:16-18, Dan 9:26, Joel 2:2 Sin is the cause of Jacob’s trouble

OUTLINE 1

What is the Tribulation?

Tribulation means a time of trouble. There are different kinds of tribulations mentioned in the Bible which refer to hardships, trials and all sorts of sufferings that Believers of Christ may encounter in their lives. Deut 4:30-31, Matt 13:21.

The Bible teaches us that those who follow Christ and God’s words and His commandments may face tribulations. He promises that He will not forsake nor destroy them in times of trials and tribulations. Examples of some who suffered trials and tribulations in the Bible are Joseph, Ruth, Daniel, Jeremiah, Job, Peter and even our Lord Jesus Christ. Each of them experienced forms of suffering, testing their faith and resilience. John 16:33

The Tribulation:

Is a relatively short period of seven years where everyone left behind after the Rapture will face worldwide hardship, persecution, disaster, famine, wars, pains and suffering.

When will it happen?

The tribulation will begin after the rapture of the church (saints) and the revelation of the Antichrist: 2 Thess 2:3-7, Dan 9:20-27. The first three and half years will be the full manifestation of the Antichrist, during which he shall make covenant with Israel. Dan 9:27. The second three and half years will be time of unprecedented trouble. The Antichrist will break the covenant with Israel and practice abominable desolution of the temple. Dan 11:35, Matt 24:15,16.

OUTLINE 2

What are the effects of Tribulation?

Listed below are some of the events that the world will experience during tribulation of the Antichrist.

1.       A period of darkness and gloominess, a day of cloud and darkness. Zeph 1:15 (men will literally work like blind men).

2.       The mountains and Island will move. Rev 6:14

3.       The Oceans will become blood Rev 8:8-9; one third of all the sea life will die. In addition, one third of all the ships will be destroyed.

4.       Freshwater supplies will be affected. They will become bitter and cause many people to die Rev 8:10-11.

5.       Stars of heaven will fall out of the sky to the earth. Rev 6:13

CONCLUSION:

The Tribulation is a time of deception by false teachers, and the Antichrist claiming “I am the Christ”. Nations will rise against nations, wars and rumours of war. A time of global economic devastation, disorder, disease etc. but those who have received Christ as their Lord, and personal Saviour, keeping themselves Holy until He comes, shall be delivered through rapture from the days of Tribulation, until His second coming.

Praise the Lord!

Respect, Honor, and Boundaries

DISHONOR:

1. If they really love you, they will honor you. DISHONOR leads to dismissal.

2. You cannot sow “DISHONOR” seed & call it a “just being honest” seed. You may not know the difference but your harvest will.

3. If a person disrespects you, no matter how much you love them ,don’t let them DISHONOR you for too long. Know when to walk away.

4. NEVER DISHONOR those that have come before you, even if you disagree with them. DISHONOR is the response of a fool.

5. Disrespect is the quickest way to experience disconnect. Favor is often erased by DISHONOR. Disrespect can turn connection into rejection.

6. Even if you don’t respect a person, it still doesn’t mean you should DISHONOR them. Sometimes honor is deserved, even when respect is not.

7. Social networking sometimes blurs the lines of respect. Its the place where common feels equal to kingship & DISHONOR is often the result.

8. Don’t ever reward DISHONOR with Gifts, Your Time, or Your Attention! Cut it Loose!

9. DISHONOR isn’t always about what you did or said, it can be something you didn’t do or say.

10. When they treat you with DISHONOR, still carry yourself with honor. Don’t give their actions the reaction they are looking for.

All Things Work Together for Good. God’s Sovereignty, My Peace.

Hindsight Is Clearer

“And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.” (Romans 8:28)

The ability to see, with both eyes, an object clearly from twenty feet away is referred to as 20/20 vision. (In Europe, it is called 6/6 since they use a distance of six meters instead of twenty feet.) While not everyone has 20/20 vision, it is often said that hindsight is always 20/20. That is, we may not be able to see everything clearly as it happens, but after the fact we can see things much more clearly.

While hindsight is not always perfect, from a biblical perspective it means that we sometimes have to wait to see what God’s purpose was in allowing something to happen. There are certainly enough biblical examples to prove that premise. Job, Joseph, David, Daniel, Esther, Paul, and others were puzzled at what God allowed to happen in their lives—but soon came to see God’s hand at work. Especially Esther who saved the Jewish people from genocide in Persia.

When God allows circumstances in your life, the purpose of which is not clear, remember the examples and promises of Scripture: “All things work together for good.”

Hymn 780. There Is A Land Of Pure Delight.

There is a land of pure delight

Where saints immortal reign,

Infinite day excludes the night,

And pleasures banish pain.

We’re feeding on the living Bread,

We’re drinking at the fountain head;

And who-so drinketh, Jesus said,

Shall never, never thirst again.

What! never thirst again?

No, never thirst again!

What! never thirst again?

No, never thirst again!

And who-so drinketh, Jesus said,

Shall never, never thirst again!

2:

There everlasting spring abides,

And never withering flowers;

Death, like a narrow sea, divides

his heavenly land from ours.

3:

O could we make our doubts remove

Those gloomy thoughts that rise,

And see the Canaan that we love

With unbeclouded eyes.

4:

Could we but climb where Moses stood

And view the landscape o’er

Not Jordan’s stream, nor death’s cold flood,

Should fright us from the shore.

Trembling at God’s Word. Receiving God’s Word with Reverence

Trembling At The Word Of God.

FOOD FOR THOUGHT!!

“….For all those things hath mine hand made, and all those things have been, saith the LORD: but to this man will I look, even to him that is poor and of a contrite spirit, and trembleth at my Word…. ” [ISAIAH 66 v 1- 5].

Welcome to a season of New Dawn. Beloved, thank God we gather to study the Word and tremble at it in Jesus name. That’s where the transformation, reformation and regeneration comes from as we hears the Word and applies it in our lives as it brings the miraculous over our situations in Jesus name.

In Daniel 1 v 1 -10,we read about Ashpenaz – the prince of the eunuch. Another striking feature in him was that he feared the King to the extent of not taking lightly any instruction or command from him. You too are in the service of a king, but this time the KING of kings.

To what extent do you fear GOD? Your level of fear of God is not determined by your confession or pretentious acts but by your attitude to His Word in Jesus Christ precious name.

“….For all those things hath mine hand made, and all those things have been, saith the LORD: but to this man will I look, even to him that is poor and of a contrite spirit, and trembleth at my Word….” [ISAIAH 66 v 1-5]. God knows exactly how you react to His instructions. There are Christians who receive God’s Word trembling in fear and reverence.

They will immediately write them down and regularly take a look at it as they take steps in obedience. But there are those who take God’s Word or voice with no seriousness.

They do not count it important enough to be written down. They may even trivialize it and before long forget it. How do you receive God’s Word? Do you tremble at His word or discuss away while the word is coming?

In DANIEL 1:5, 10, we are told that there was a daily provision made for those being prepared to stand in the Babylonian Palace. Ashpenaz ensured that nothing short of that provision was daily given to the trainees. When Daniel turned down the provision, Ashpenaz showed great concern.

In the same way, God, the KING of kings has a daily provision, message or word for His children. For each service in Church, there is a message from God. It is the duty of the Pastor-in. -charge to receive that message and deliver it to the congregation.

If you fail to do so, they will have stunted growth and be unable to stand shoulder high with their fellow believers from other churches or ministries. Ashpenaz feared that he could be in danger if the trainees fell short of the expectations of the King.

What care do you show concerning the flocks today? Don’t you know that as a leader who failed to nourish the congregation, your employment with the KING of kings is endangered? Adjust your attitude to God’s word today in Jesus name.

Dear friend, if you tremble at God’s word, enemies, situations and circumstances will tremble at your word in Jesus Christ amazing name and being on top of their influences and control in Jesus name-Amen- Shalom.

SALIENT POINTS:

  1. The Power of Reverence.
  2. Fear of the Lord: The Key to Transformation.
  3. The Attitude of Obedience.
  4. The Fear that Brings Victory.
  5. A Heart that Trembles at God’s Word.
  6. Obedience: The Mark of True Discipleship.
  7. The King’s Expectations.
  8. Adjusting Our Attitude to God’s Word.

BIBLE VERSES:

Psalm 119:161

My heart stands in awe of Your words.

Luke 12:5

Fear Him who, after your body has been killed, has authority to throw you into hell.

2 Timothy 3:16-17

All Scripture is God-breathed.

James 1:22-25

Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves.

Whoever has ears, let them hear what the Spirit says.

The Fear of the Lord (Proverbs 1:7)

Listening and Obeying (Deuteronomy 5:1)

The Power of the Word (Hebrews 4:12)

Hymn 781. When Jesus comes to reward His servants.

When Jesus comes to reward His servants,

Whether it be noon or night,

Faithful to Him will He find us watching,

With our lamps all trimmed and bright?

Oh can we say we are ready, brother?

Ready for the soul’s bright home?

Say, will He find you and me still watching,

Waiting, waiting when the Lord shall come?

2:

If, at the dawn of the early morning,

He shall call us one by one,

When to the Lord we restore our talents,

Will He answer thee-well done?

3

Have we been true to the trust He left us?

Do we seek to do our best?

If in our hearts there is naught condemns us,

We shall have a glorious rest.

Winnie the Pooh Divorce. Learning from Life’s Embarrassments.

Guys I just bumped into my first wife. And she reminded me of our divorce.

Hehehehehe….let me tell you a story….So when I was 14yrs old my mother saw me kissing this other girl, we shall call her Hazel. I didn’t notice that my mother had noticed anything. When I got home my mother asked me to accompany her, so we walked to the other neighbourhood which Hazel lived in. We were approaching Hazel’s gate when I asked her what we wanted there, she said we going to collect something. Well, I suspected nothing so we walked into the yard. We walked passed Hazel who was washing her school shirt and socks by the outside tap. As we sat on the couch inside with Hazel’s mother sitting across us, my mother got down to business. I wish I could type what she said in Zulu.

She was like “Hai Mkhozi, so I’m getting off a taxi, when I threw my eyes across the road, your daughter and my son are locking tongues.”

Hazel’s mother maNyathi was like “haibo mkhozi, what are you telling me?” then she called Hazel into the house, she came in and sat next to her mother. maNyathi went “Hau girl, you don’t tell me that you have a man?… Meet your mother in-law.” All Hazel could do was look down. maNyathi pinched her thigh she started to sound like singer Maxwell.

Her mother then looked at me and said “So, my son in-law, where do you work and how much do you earn?…. When are you planning to pay lobola?.. When are you planning to take your wife and move into your house because there can’t be two women living under my roof?”….eish…i just kept quiet, the next thing i had a slap from my mom then she shouted” Answer! “, yoh… I had to pick up my ear on the ground and put it back. Then maNyathi made Hazel fetch her Winnie the pooh teddy bear. She said” So since you two have decided to do grown up things, this is your child, you will share custody of this bear, you will share custody fairly, should anything happen to this bear, you will know us. maNyathi was a nurse, I think I know what kind of a nurse she was.

Hazel was a crazy mother!!! Can you imagine she would bring the child to me while I’m playing soccer in the streets just because she wanted to go play skipping with her friends and we would fight, then she would put the child on the fence and go. The child would get hit by the ball because her mother left her on the fence. That day I got home with a dirty child, my mom made me wash it with warm water, sunlight, and a scrubbing brush. She then put her elbow in the water to test its temperature then slapped me on the back of my head like Junior from the comedy “my wife and kids” while screaming “this water is too hot to bath a child.

One Saturday morning Hazel had went to town with her mother so I asked my mom to babysit for me so I can go play soccer, she said “I will babysit for you, but you not going to play, you going to help bra Bhiza clean the garden, you are a parent now, you must act like one and work for your child.” Bra Bhiza was the neighbourhood gardener who did my mother’s garden as well.

Then she took me outside to the garden and asked bra Bhiza to give me a job, the pain of cutting grass while my friends were playing soccer in the street killed me.

Bra Bizza paid me R5, at least I was happy until my mother said “boy you better not spend that money and give it to your wife so she can buy things for your child.”

Finally my wife and her mother came over to fetch the baby and I gave her the money…that Saturday I saw her eating chocolates, I went to tell my mother that Hazel is eating the child’s money and she said” Keep me out of your marital affairs please. If you tell your mother about what your wife is doing, you will make your mother resent your wife because women are emotional creatures. Go find a group of married men like you and talk to them, you will find a solution”… I was so confused.

Sunday afternoon I saw Hazel with a mark on her foot, her mother had beaten her for forgetting the child behind the house.

We had a long talk and decided on a divorce, we called a family meeting during the week and told our parents we can’t do this anymore, they said what about the child, I told them it’s not a real child, I got a slap on the back of my head from my mom. So they let us go. Our parents remained close friends but as for us, from that day, we never spoke to each other for years, then her family moved. She tells me she has a baby boy with her husband and tells me her mother passed on last year. We told her husband the story and he couldn’t stop laughing.

But black mothers are abusive!!

Whenever I see a winnie the pooh bear, I get annoyed.

Lena Ma2000, when we warn you about things, listen!! We have been your age and we were rescued from our stupidity.
