A Righteous Man May Fall Seven Times And Rise Again. Proverbs 24:16

Don’t be afraid of failure!

Solomon writes: “Without oxen a stable stays clean, but you need a strong ox for a large harvest” (Proverbs 14:4 NLT). If you insist on always having a nice neat stall, you’ll have an empty stall. If you want a big harvest, you’ll need a big ox with a big appetite that creates big messes. For example, if you decide to have children you’ll have lots of joy, and lots of messes to clean up. Within minutes, children can take a house that looks like it belongs in Better Homes and Gardens and make it look like a trial run for the battle of Armageddon. So you’ve an option: Live by yourself and enjoy a less complicated life, or accept the responsibilities that come with having a family. Even in the dictionary, the word “striving” and “struggling” comes before the word “success”

Dr. John Maxwell says, “At some point you have to make a transition from believer of the dream, to the buyer of the dream. No dream comes true without somebody paying for it. And part of the price you will have to pay is in learning from the mistakes you make. You can attend every success seminar, read every success manual and follow every success mentor, but the price must always be paid in messes and mistakes. There isn’t a single person in the world who has achieved anything without paying a price for it. Some pay with their lives or their freedom. Others pay by giving up options or finances or relationships. But one way or another, everybody pays.”

Glorious Generation 2 (Sermon Note)

Text: 1 Peter 2:9

Introduction

Our God is glorious, excellent, beautiful, superb, majestic Exodus 15:11. We are His offspring; His Chosen generation. We must be glorious like Him, in excellence, beauty, radiance, achievements. To achieve this, we must be a generation with vision. We must set goals and achieve them. Proverbs 29:18.

  1. 1.      What is your goal in life?

To answer this, we need to answer some other questions: – Who am I, what is my deepest dream in life. To fulfil my dream, what do I need to do? Why is it important to me? Does God approve of it? How and when should I embark on it? What is the ultimate picture I see in the future? When I attain that ultimate dream, what next? Judges 11:1-10, 1 Chronicles 4:9-10; Proverbs 14:12; Ecclesiastes 11:4.

Biblical example of goal setters are Nehemiah, Paul, Daniel, Our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ to mention but a few. Nehemiah 2:3-5, Daniel 6;3; Philippians 3:13-14; 2 Corinthians 11:23-33; Acts 20:24, 2 Timothy 4:7-8, Matthew 18:11; John 4:34; John 17:4

  1. 2.      Pitfalls in achieving our goals

Sin, laziness, wrong association and friendship, procrastination, slothfulness and mediocrity. Psalms 1:1-6; Proverbs 21:25; Proverbs 13:20; Romans 6:1; Hebrews 12:1-2.

  1. 3.      To achieve your goals you need valuable people

You need mentors, connectors, grounders, Godly counsellors. Above all you need God’s grace and mercies. Acts 9:26-27; Proverbs 11:14; Jeremiah 33:3; Ephesians 1:17-18.

  1. 4.      Success is not cheap

Success is not cheap neither is it easy. Don’t give up. If you fail, try again. Winners never quit. 2 Corinthians 11:23-33; Phil 4:13; Luke 1:37

Conclusion

We must shine in our generation. In our places of work, in school, in ministry, business, we must shine because we are chosen, we are royalty, we are peculiar, if we shine, then we bring glory to God Who has called us into His marvellous light.

May the LORD bless Nigeria, American and Israel and take care of us; May the LORD make His face shine upon us, And be gracious to us; May the Lord lift up His countenance upon us, And give us peace, In Jesus Christ Name, we pray! Amen!

Let us not place our hope in winning a “jackpot or lottery,” but our hope must remain in Christ, who gives us the power to get wealth

Let us not place our hope in winning a “jackpot or lottery,” but our hope must remain in Christ, who gives us the power to get wealth

Beloved of God!

As we embark upon the holiest time in the Christian Church calendar, I pray that
our focus today is on the goodness, grace and mercy of God and not on the $540+
million lottery. While the scripture does not say, “thou shall not gamble,” there
are numerous scriptures that point to God’s methods for wealth creation: Deuteronomy
8:18; Proverbs 6:6-8; Proverbs 13:11; Proverbs 21:5, 20; Proverbs 28:20; and Malachi
3:10-11.
Numerous studies have proven that the lottery system is supported by the
poorest communities in our nation. Those who can least afford to spend $10 – $40
per week on tickets are the very ones who comprise the bulk of ticket sales. Therefore,
winners of these lotteries are in essence reaping their sudden wealth from the poorest
members of our society. If we were asked today to stand in line for hours to share
the Gospel of Christ, how would we respond? Saints, let us not place our hope in
winning a “jackpot,” but our hope must remain in Christ. It is unequivocally, the
greatest and most rewarding investment that we will ever make.

You shall not give false testimony about your neighbour

The Birth of Our Lord Jesus Christ

False Testimony

You shall not give false testimony about your neighbour.
Exodus 20:16

This commandment is often interpreted as “thou shalt not lie,” and it is true that the Lord is no fan of falsehood.

Yet the ninth commandment deals specifically with lies about a neighbour.
Proverbs 26:28 helps us to understand how both bring harm: “A lying tongue hates those crushed by it, and a flattering mouth works ruin.” Often these go hand in hand as one person is flattering to their neighbour’s face and then tears him or her down behind his back.
So much damage can be inflicted by such a small part of our body ( James 3:3-6). Lies destroy careers, churches, families, marriages and reputations.
Avoid words that seek to do harm so that you may stay in the spirit of this commandment. It is better to keep our mouths quiet than stumble into this sin.
Our emotions can sometimes carry us away and pull us into a swirling void of negativity that grows and grows, so today I challenge you to steer clear and speak only the truth.

Search me, O God, and know my heart; try me, and know my anxieties; and see if there is any wicked way in me

Search me, O God, and know my heart; try me, and know my anxieties; and see if there is any wicked way in me.

—Psalm 139:23-24

READ: 1 Corinthians 13:4-8

Is it possible to be too helpful? Can our helpfulness actually make life more difficult for others? Yes, if we’re being bothersome, intrusive, smothering, manipulative, or controlling. If the help we are giving is driven only by our own anxiety, we may be just trying to help ourselves.

How then can we know if our heart and acts of service are truly symbolic of God’s unconditional love? How can we love from pure motives? (Prov. 16:2; 21:2; 1 Cor. 4:5).

In prayer we can ask God to show us any way we are hurting or hindering others (Ps. 139:23-24). We can ask God to help us show love that “suffers long and is kind; . . . is not puffed up; does not behave rudely, does not seek its own, is not provoked, thinks no evil” (1 Cor. 13:4-5).

Our efforts to help others, especially those we love the most, will never be completely free from anxiety. But we can, by God’s grace, begin to love freely with no strings attached, as God Himself loves. The test, of course, and the measure of our progress, is the way we react when our “helpfulness” is unrecognized or goes unrewarded (see Luke 14:12-14).

Lord, help us to love with pure motives and for the good of others. Help us to love unconditionally, expecting nothing in return. —David Roper

Please help me, Lord, in all I do
To act and think with motives true;
And by Your love reveal to me
Those sins that only You can see. —D. De Haan

In our desire to help, let’s love with pure motives.

May the LORD bless Nigeria, American and Israel and take care of us; May the LORD make His face shine upon us, And be gracious to us; May the Lord lift up His countenance upon us, And give us peace, In Jesus Christ Name, we pray! Amen!

Keeping God’s Words

Keeping God‘s Words

My son, attend to my words; incline thine ear unto my sayings. Let
them not depart from thine eyes; keep them in the midst of thine
heart. For they are life unto those that find them, and health to
all their flesh

Proverbs 4:20-22
Notice the order in this passage. The psalmist says, “Attend to my
words, incline thine ear unto my sayings, and let them not depart from
thine eyes.” When you do those three things—attend, incline, and let
them not depart from your eyes—you receive revelation. But, if you do
the fourth thing-keep them in the midst of thy heart-you keep
revelation.

He gives you this fourth admonition before He talks about the Word of God being life to you. Why? Although you have a revelation to start the
process, you also need a revelation to end the process. So God says,
“Keep my words planted in the middle of your heart. Don’t let the devil
come and uproot the Word out of your heart.”

May the LORD bless Nigeria, American and Israel and take care of us; May the LORD make His face shine upon us, And be gracious to us; May the Lord lift up His countenance upon us, And give us peace, In Jesus Christ Name, we pray! Amen!

The blessing of the Lord, it maketh rich, and He addeth no sorrow
with it
Proverbs 10:22

Sometimes the word blessing in the Bible refers to “material
possessions,” but not in this Scripture. In this case, God is talking
about an endowed power from God that produces prosperity and success. He is not talking about a car, a house, or some material resource. The
blessing is the power that God clothes you with in order to make you
rich. One version puts it this way: The blessing of the Lord it brings
wealth (NIV).

So, once again, power is involved in wealth coming your way. Wealth
recognizes a God-like ability in your life to which it is attracted.

May the LORD bless Nigeria, American and Israel and take care of us; May the LORD make His face shine upon us, And be gracious to us; May the Lord lift up His countenance upon us, And give us peace, In Jesus Christ Name, we pray! Amen!

A Man Of Warmth And Wisdom

READ: Proverbs 15:21-33

A word spoken in due season, how good it is! —Proverbs 15:23

When Dr. Vernon Grounds, former president and chancellor of Denver Seminary, went to be with the Lord at age 96, tributes and remembrances poured in from former students, colleagues, and friends. Almost everyone recalled a time when Dr. Grounds had personally encouraged them through his teaching, his counsel, or simply his warm smile. He believed in the value of training pastors, teachers, and counselors who had a vital relationship with Christ and a willingness to serve others.

A vivid portrait of Vernon Grounds is seen in a selection of verses from Proverbs 15: “A man of understanding walks uprightly” (v.21). “A word spoken in due season, how good it is!” (v.23). “The words of the pure are pleasant” (v.26). “The heart of the righteous studies how to answer” (v.28). “The fear of the Lord is the instruction of wisdom” (v.33).

Dr. Grounds’ counsel grew out of his character, and his wisdom came from God. The warmth of his life was fired by his purity of heart. The result is a model for us from the Word of God and the example of a man who humbly followed his Saviour.

Vernon Grounds ran well and finished his race. May his example of wise and compassionate living challenge us as we continue to run. —David McCasland

God will use what you put at His disposal to allow things to come into your life

God will use what you put at His disposal to allow things to come into your life

God will use what you have at His disposal.

Proverbs 6:6-11 “Go to the ant, you sluggard! Consider her ways and be wise,

7 Which, having no captain, Overseer or ruler,

8 Provides her supplies in the summer, And gathers her food in the harvest.

9 How long will you slumber, O sluggard? When will you rise from your sleep?

10 A little sleep, a little slumber, A little folding of the hands to sleep—

11 So shall your poverty come on you like a prowler, And your need like an armed man.”

While God has promised to supply all your need according to His riches in glory, you need to realize that you still have a part to play. God will use what you put at His disposal to allow things to come into your life. As an example, He will use your business to channel finances into your life. He will use your faith, mixed with action to bring blessings and provision into your life.

Experience the Fullness of God’s Goodness. Wisdom is the principal thing

Proverbs 4:5,6,7 “Get wisdom! Get understanding! Do not forget, nor turn away from the words of my mouth. 6 Do not forsake her, and she will preserve you; Love her, and she will keep you. 7 Wisdom is the principal thing; Therefore get wisdom. And in all your getting, get understanding.”

The wisdom of God is one of the most important principles that need to be in every Christian‘s life. Solomon says in this piece of scripture that while man is busy with so many things, by far the most important is to acquire the wisdom of God. It will change your life and empower you to experiencing the fullness of God’s goodness.

Establishing God’s perfect will in your life today

Still life with Bible, by Vincent Van Gogh

Proverbs 3:11-12 “My son, do not despise the chastening of the LORD, Nor detest His correction; For whom the LORD loves He corrects, Just as a father the son in whom he delights.”

Sometimes it is difficult to understand why certain things happen in your life. You need to trust God that He knows better and in spite of what seems to be a bad situation, He will always protect you and you will get through whatever you are going through. Many times God allows things in your life to build your character, so that His perfect will can be established in your life.

Experiencing the goodness of God and His infinite wisdom

Proverbs 3:13, 16-18 “Happy is the man that finds wisdom, and the man that gets understanding……….Length of days is in her right hand, In her left hand riches and honor. Her ways are ways of pleasantness, and all her paths are peace. She is a tree of life to those who take hold of her, and happy are all who retain her.”

The bible is referring to the power of Godly wisdom in your life. When you apply the Word of God, which is the wisdom of God to your life, you will find yourself on a path to fulfilling the destiny of God and experiencing the goodness of God like never before. Your life will be like tree planted by many waters, that never thirsts and never runs dry. Amen!

Give, and It Shall Be Given Unto You; Good Measure, Pressed Down, And Shaken togther, and Running Over Shall Men Give Into Your Bosom (Luke 6:38)

Jesus is considered by scholars such as Weber ...

Image via Wikipedia

GIVE, AND IT SHALL BE GIVEN UNTO YOU; GOOD MEASURE, PRESSED
DOWN, AND SHAKEN TOGETHER, AND RUNNING OVER, SHALL MEN GIVE INTO YOUR
BOSOM.(Luke 6:38).

And God is able to
make all grace abound towards; you; that ye, always having all sufficiency in
all things, may abound to every good work (2 Corinthians 9:8)

There’re different levels of prosperity at which God’s
people function. Some are in the first level, where they have just enough to
get by. Some, however, are on the next level where they have more than enough
to take care of themselves, their family and a few others. Then, there’re those
who are in the arena of abundance, where they can do so much for themselves and
for many others.

However, God’s desire for you is that you move from the
realm of abundance into the realm of super-abundance, where you’re financially
strong enough to do whatever you want to do that’s good for God and for people,
whenever you want to do it, however you want to do it! This is the level of
prosperity you should strive to function in, where you’re able to help other. Nigeria,
African and the world as a whole need more of such men and women today, who are
willing and able to bring succour and relief to the less privileged amongst us.

There’re many orphans, widows, and other needy people that
could benefit from your prosperity. The Bible says in Proverbs 19:17 “He that hath pity upon the poor lendeth
unto the Lord; and that which he hath given will He pay him again”.
Also,
the Bible says the generous man is blessed for giving to the poor (Proverbs
22:9). Our opening scripture describes God’s commitment to you, when you
dedicate yourself to a lifestyle of giving; He (God)”…..is able to make all grace (every favour and earthly blessings) come
to you in abundance, so that you may always and under all circumstances and
whatever the need, be self-sufficient (possessing enough to require no aid or
support and furnished in abundance for every good work and charitable
donation)” (2 Corinthians 8:9 AMP).

God’s resources are limitless; His wealth is infinite. As
His kids, we’re His heirs; all that He has belongs to us. Therefore, choose to
function at the level of super-abundance. The way to press into this realm of
prosperity is through giving: “Give, and
it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together,
and running over, shall men give into your bosom…” (Luke 6:38)
. Through giving,
you multiply riches and wealth. Keep looking out for opportunities to be a
blessing to others, and the Spirit of God, apart from helping you increase your
capacity to give more, will cause you to dwell in the realm of super-abundance,
where others will benefit from your prosperity.

CONFESSION:

Through my giving,
mighty harvests of financial blessings are coming to me, and my capacity to
give is increase today by the power of God’s Spirit. I’m a big-time sponsor of
the gospel!  The kingdom of God is moving
forward because of God’s grace upon my life in Jesus Christ. Amen!

God Takes Pleasure In The Prosperity Of His Children.

Stained glass at St John the Baptist's Anglica...

Image via Wikipedia

GOD TAKES PLEASURE IN THE PROSPERITY OF HIS CHILDREN.

God takes pleasure in the prosperity of His children. The fact
is, He longs to see His children live every day in prosperity. Once you can
find your place in God, you’ll prosper as God has ordained: “The blessing of the Lord, it maketh rich,
and He addeth no sorrow with it”
(Proverbs 10:22). Any of His children who
is not prospering in His Word hasn’t found his place yet.

God will never withhold any good thing from us (Psalm
84:11). As a fact, He loves to give to us more abundantly above all that we can
ever think or imagine (Ephesians 3:20). He can give you whatever you desire
beyond what your mind could ever fathom. All you need do is to believe and
trust Him; you shouldn’t limit Him in anyway.

God created the galaxy, the sun, the moon, and the starry
heavens. The earth is just a minute part of everything God created. The best of
all His creation is you; you are His masterpiece, the crown of His creation
(Ephesians 2:10). The sun was created big, the earth was created spherical and
big, but you were created with the greatest precision, even to the most
minuscule detail. For example, you were created with fingerprints that are
unique to you alone. You were beautifully and wonderfully created to produce results
(Psalm 139:14). The whole creation isn’t complete without you for every other
thing was created for you.

This is why I love to celebrate God. When you learn to
celebrate Him without reservations and in spite of your situation, His power
will be released upon your life. That power makes you a productive and fruitful
person. Remember, you’re the fruit-bearing part of the vine.

PRAYER

Dear Father, I thank
You for giving me Your Spirit to remind me constantly of Your unending love for
me. Let this love be evident in my life and continually flow from my lips so
all will know that You take pleasure in them as You do in me, in Jesus Christ
Name, Amen!

Invest in yourself .

A hypocrite with his mouth destroyeth
his neighbour: but through knowledge shall the just be delivered (Proverbs
11:9).

The future
belongs to those who are knowledgeable. That’s one of the reasons I encourage
young people to go to school. Educate yourself; make sure you read the necessary
materials that will enhance your intellectual capabilities. Don’t spend all
your time reading newspaper; otherwise, you’d merely end up in life reading the
news, when you should actually be making the news. Think at a high level.
Refuse mediocrity; polish yourself by opening your mind to current and relevant
information. I’m not just talking about reading international magazines and
listening to international news .I’m talking about activating your mental
processes, using your mind, having a motivation and strong propensity to
acquire more knowledge in order to be excellent, being the best at what you do.

Become
influential. To do that, you have to study. You have to read and improve
yourself by investing in your mind.

There’re
folks who have been through school but haven’t learnt to task their minds. You
see, it’s not enough to know everything in your course curriculum in school;
the world is bigger than your chosen field of specialization.  You must begin to task your mind to learn at
least, little about other fields. You must always create the time and
opportunity to learn more. As a child of God, you’re anointed and that
anointing gives you the advantage in life. Therefore, you have the intelligence
and everything it takes to do the necessary homework that will get you ready
for the future.

I’m not
saying you must become a university professor to be successful. No, I’m talking
about you improving your intelligence and your understanding of things in life
around you. In other words, apart from carefully studying your Bible, which is
the number one success manual, train yourself to learn about other fields.
Discipline yourself to acquire knowledge. That way, you’re improving your value
and relevance in today’s world.

PRAYER

Father, thank You for opening my
understanding to learn and acquire the knowledge and skill I require to be
relevant and indispensable in my world, and for granting me knowledge of witty
inventions. My mind is activated to receive the right kind of information
always, in Jesus Christ Name, Amen!
