True Christianity; The Revelation of Eternal life!

These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God (1 John 5:13)

Sometimes, we hear people say that Christianity is one of the great religions of the world. As a result, they refer to one who is a Christian as a religious person. But Christianity is not a religion. There’s absolutely nothing religious about Christianity. True Christianity, first of all, is the revelation of eternal life. True Christianity means that an eternal God has taken up His abode in the quarters of a man’s spirit.

True Christianity is not a way of worship, nor is it a way of serving God. It is the pulsating life of God in a human person. It is a living relationship with a living God. When you’re in a relationship with someone, that’s not religion! Someone once said, “I want to become more religious, so I think I should become a Christian!” no. that’s an out-and-out misnomer and a complete misunderstanding of who a Christian is. A Christian is one who is indwelt by divinity.

When you become a Christian, it means eternal life has been imparted into your spirit. It means you’ve embraced the grace, glory and power of God that dispel darkness, sickness, disease, poverty, failure and everything the devil brings. It means you’ve embraced the beauty of divinity. It means you’ve become a partaker of the divine nature – you become a God-carrying vessel. No wonder the Bible says concerning Christians, “Ye are God’s Temple” (2 Corinthians 6:16). No wonder only those who are born again are truly Christians (John 3:3-7).

So, when you say you’re a Christian, it means God has fully tabernacle in you! You’ve become His living headquarters; He looks through your eyes and walks with your legs because you’ve become His vessel. You’ve become the one in whom God dwells; that’s true Christianity: God Almighty taking up His abode in the quarters of your heart, imparting your human spirit with eternal life – His life and nature.

Confession:

I’m a carrier of divine life; I have the life and nature of God in me because I’m born again. Therefore, my life is not ordinary. Sickness, disease, infirmities, failure, lack and everything of darkness are not a part of God’s provision for my life, Hallelujah! Amen!

May the LORD bless Nigeria, American and Israel and take care of us; May the LORD make His face shine upon us, And be gracious to us; May the Lord lift up His countenance upon us, And give us peace, In Jesus Christ Name, we pray! Amen!

Say Yes To God ( A Mother’s Love)

Read:   Acts 10:9-16

Memorize:  “when He has brought them out, He goes ahead of them, and the sheep follow Him, because they know His voice” (John 10:4)

The one God loves has to grapple with certain tough challenges. As the last born of my mother, I was her favourite. While other children were playing, she would compel me to sit and read my books. Sometimes, I would remind her that all the other children were playing, but she would reply that all the others were not her business. I thought she was too strict with me but today, I have reasons to thank God for my strict mother. Ephesians 5:1-7 says if you are one of God’s own, you should not indulge in sins like fornication, uncleanness, foolish talking, etc, not even for once! In other words, other so-called Christians may be doing it but you cannot afford to follow their evil steps. There are certain things some pastors and church leaders would do and God would appear to be quiet about it, yet, if some believers attempted such, they would receive a bashing from the LORD. It shows how much God loves such a believer. If God no more corrects you, you might have reached a point of no return or be on the way to becoming irrelevant to God.

As a believer of God, you must learn to say “YES LORD” to all of God’s instructions. Quite a number of people have lost opportunities for starting large ministries due to their refusal to say, “YES LORD”. God is not static. When Heaven moves, it takes those who can drop their old beliefs and dogmas to move to the next level with Him. One major change ever experienced was the movement from the Old Testament to the New Testament. While most of the leaders in the synagogue resisted change and stuck to the Mosaic Law, others who embraced the change became born-again, and began to enjoy the grace and truth that the LORD brought. Do you say “Yes” or “No” to the promptings of the Spirit? Yield to Him today!

Key Point:

When God wants something from you, what He expects to hear is, “Yes, LORD”. What is your response today? Always say yes to Him!

Christianity and Homosexuality Part 2

(Sermon Note/ Sunday School/ Bible Study)

“That ye put off concerning the former conversation the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts;” Ephesians 4:22

Read:  Romans 1:21-28

INTRODUCTION

So far we have discussed what homosexuality really is, societal attitude and what the Bible says about it. Now, we shall be examining the dangers involved in homosexuality, Christian’s response to the homosexual and homosexual marriages.

THE DANGER INVOLVED

Unlike other sins, this sexual sin has a judgment administered by God Himself: He gives them over to their passions and “to do those things which are not convenient—-in the old sense of that word, that is, “not becoming,” “indecorous,” “shameful.” (Romans 1:26-28). This means that their hearts are allowed to be hardened by their sins. As a result, they can no longer see the error of what they are doing- Proverbs 10:17; Hebrews 3:7-10. Without an awareness of their sinfulness, there will be no repentance – 2 Corinthians 4:3-4. Without repentance, there will be no forgiveness (Acts 8:22). Without forgiveness, there is no salvation Hebrews 2:3, Romans 5:1; 2 Corinthians 7:10; Romans 10:10.

CHRISTIAN’S RESPONSE TO THE HOMOSEXUAL

Just because someone is gay does not mean that we cannot love him (or her) or pray for them – Leviticus 19:18; 1 Timothy 1:5. Homosexuality is a sin and like any other sin, it needs to be dealt with in the only way possible – Romans 13:9. It needs to be laid at the cross and repented of – Romans 6:6; Ephesians 4:22.

Christians should pray for the salvation of the gay communities the same way they would pray for any other person in sin – James 5:16, 1 Kings 13:6. They should treat gays with the same dignity as they would anyone else because, whether you like it or not, they made in the image of God – Genesis 1:26-27. However, this does not mean that Christians should approve of their sin. Christians should not compromise their witness for a politically correct opinion that is shaped by guilt and fear – Colossians 4:5-6.

SHOULD GAYS BE ALLOWED TO MARRY ONE ANOTHER

The aching questions in the society and some churches are: Should a woman be allowed to marry another woman? Should a man be allowed to marry another man? Should they be given legal protection and special rights to practice their homosexuality?

Although, our society does not rely on the Bible for its moral truth but on humanistic and relativistic morals upon which it builds its ethical structure, the Bible, of course, condemns homosexuality – Leviticus 18:22, 20:13. It takes no leap of logic to discern that gay marriage is also condemned. Therefore, we must be prayerful, sober and vigilant 1 Peter 5:8-9.

CONCLUSION

You do not win people to The LORD by condemning them and calling them names. This is why God says to speak with wisdom, grace, and love. Let the love of Christ flow through you so that the homosexuals can see true love and turn to Christ instead of away from Him.

Obedience to God is an expression of our love for Him

READ: 1 John 2:3-11

Whoever keeps His Word, truly the love of God is perfected in him. By this we know that we are in Him. —1 John 2:5

The apostle John wrote his first epistle to encourage believers not to just look like real Christians, but to prove they are genuine by how they live. The evidence that a person’s faith is real is not found in some mystical experience with God. The proof that people truly know and love God is found in submitting to His authority and to His Word. John writes, “But whoever keeps His Word, truly the love of God is perfected in him. By this we know that we are in Him. He who says he abides in Him ought himself also to walk just as He walked” (1 John 2:5-6).

If we claim that we have been transformed by the gospel and intimately know and love God, we should validate it by our obedience to His Word. —Marvin Williams

And then ignore what you have heard;
Instead obey God’s will for you—
Be doers of the Word. —Sper

There Is No Better Price To Pay Than Living For God

There is no better price to pay than living for God
Holiness Costs

Everyone who has this hope in him purifies himself, just as he is pure.
1 John 3:3
There are many Christians who like the notion of being holy as long as it cost them nothing-no hardships, no difficulties, no scorn and no financial or property loss.
Men like Samuel Wesley dug the wells of holiness and suffered losses-burning of crops, continual threats of physical harm and false imprisonment-yet they stood their ground for holiness.
Though men hated him, Samuel continued to live a life of holiness before God. Though his house was set on fire and he almost lost his son, John, who was trapped on the second floor of the burning building-he stood for holiness.
God is expecting us to stand for holiness too.
There is a cost to live a life of holiness-people will scorn you, they will hate you, you could lose your property, your money, you could get injured and you could even lose your life.
Jesus says, “For whoever wants to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for me will find it” (Matthew 16:25). A life of holiness costs something… are you willing to pay the price? There is no better price to pay than living for God.

The Body Of Christ

The Body Of Christ

READ: 1 Corinthians 12:12-27

Those members of the body which seem to be weaker are necessary. —1 Corinthians 12:22

The number of people who run a business out of their homes is in the millions. But some have found that working alone can be a little too lonely. To give these lonely ones a community, “co-working” spaces have been designed. Large facilities are rented out where people working by themselves can share space with others. They have their own work area but can exchange ideas with fellow independent workers. It’s for those who feel they can work better together than they do alone.

Sometimes Christians think they work better alone. But we are meant to work together with others in the church. Every Christian has been placed into “The Body Of Christ” (1 Cor. 12:27). And the Lord desires that we take part in fellowship with a local community of believers—using our spiritual gifts and working together in His service.

Yet for various reasons, some aren’t able to join in. Because of health issues, they may be shut in at home or may not know how to fit in at church. Yet they are a needed part of the body (vv.22-25). That’s when others can meet their need for togetherness. Let’s do our part so that others may feel they’re an integral part of the community of faith. We work better together than alone. —Anne Cetas

There Is No Guarantee That Debtors Will Make It To Heaven, Including Senior Pastors

There is no guarantee that debtors will make it to Heaven, including senior pastors

Several years ago, Myles Munroe spoke on five questions you must ask yourself: Who am I? Where am I from? Why am I here? What can I become? Where am I going to? These are very crucial issues which, if properly answered, will help you to optimize your earthly existence. Have you been able to find the answers to these questions?

In addition to the above questions, it is important to ask yourself: How far am I from my goal? If you left point A for point B, it is important to take stock so as to know how close or far your destination is. This calls for self-examination, personal appraisal or evaluation of actions, tactics, strategy and plans. Why do you think Paul asked the Corinthian church to examine themselves, to know whether they were still in the faith?  (2 Corinthians 13:5) It is because it is possible to start off as a Christian but along the way lose one’s faith in Christ. For this same reason, Paul queried the church in Galatia as to why they would end up in the flesh, having begun in the spirit (Galatians 3:3). Today, many believers who started the Christian race as honest, God-fearing, Jesus-seeking, Spirit-filled, heaven-bound saints, are now flesh-controlled, position-seeking, money-serving, people-victimizing political beings. Unfortunately, they have continued their journey without asking how far or how close they are to their original goal.

If truth be told, position is robbing many of holiness. It is shocking to hear that some senior pastors fix the stipends and salaries of junior pastors and workers in banks for a period and receive interest up front into their personal pockets, without thinking of the hardship they cause such families. Such leaders are farther from their destination. There are some things you do that takes you several miles away from your destination. It is safe to assume that if you were saved 10, 15, or 20 years ago, and you were living to please God for that period; you are closer to heaven than when you started. But if you begin to do certain things wrong, it will set you backwards, even beyond the years you started out. Have you asked how close you are to your heavenly goal?

There is guarantee that debtors will make it to Heaven, including senior pastors, top Christian leaders who deliberately sit on the salaries and stipends of their subordinates. They may pay their debts eternally in hell.

Let Your Light So Shine Before Men

Let Your Light So Shine Before Men

READ: Matthew 5:13-16

Let your light so shine before men. —Matthew 5:16

It was just a routine baggage inspection, but there was nothing ordinary about the contents of the suitcase. The Swiss customs agent who examined it discovered 14 original drawings by Pablo Picasso. The artwork, which was contained in a sketchbook, was estimated to be worth as much as $1.5 million, yet the passenger indicated “nothing to declare” to customs authorities.

It’s hard to imagine anyone packing Picasso’s sketchbook between sweaters, trotting off to the airport, and hoping it would remain a secret. The man was obviously smuggling it.

We as Christians have something far more valuable than a Picasso to declare! Yet we sometimes keep the treasure of our faith in Christ locked in our hearts instead of sharing it with those around us. Jesus reminded us, “You are the light of the world” (Matt. 5:14). Part of our purpose is to reflect God’s glory so that others will understand their need for Him. He also calls us to let our light shine, so that they see our good works and glorify our Father in heaven (v.16).

We risk becoming spiritual smugglers when we hide our faith in Christ. Instead, let’s open the “suitcase,” share the treasure, and give glory to the Master.

Lord, help me make my witness clear,
And labour faithfully,
So friends and neighbours turn to Christ
Through what they hear from me. —Anon.

Our Spiritual Inheritance

Our Spiritual Inheritance

“Keep on asking, and you will be given what you ask for.” (Matthew 7:7)

God is Faithful!

Imagine for a moment that a distant relative has included you in his will. As part of the execution of that will, money is placed into a bank account for you, and you are notified of that fact. But you reason, “It can’t be true!” So you never bother to write a check against that account. Although you have the inheritance, you do not benefit from it because you lack the faith and willingness to claim it. How tragic!

As children of God, we must be aware of our spiritual inheritance and claim it by faith. Then we will experience the abundant spiritual riches God has for His children. This inheritance is both present and future.

I am told of a wealthy person who divided his inheritance into two parts for his children. He is giving them some of their inheritance now. For example, he helped his son start a business, and he helped his daughter purchase a condominium. They will receive additional money from time to time as they demonstrate that they can handle it well. But the bulk of their estate will come later.
In the same way, increasing spiritual maturity and faith release increasing measures of our spiritual riches. The riches begin the moment we become Christians, but the full riches of our relationship with God will be revealed in heaven.

Your View of God Really Matters …

God has devised the “faith method” for receiving His promises because it requires unwavering trust in Him. What one thing will you choose to trust Him for today?

Naturally Holy

John 5:14, “Afterward Jesus findeth him in the temple, and said unto him, Behold, thou art made whole: sin no more, lest a worse thing come unto thee.”

JOHN 5:1-15

In saying this, Jesus shows that sin causes the tragedies that come into our lives. The reason for holiness in the life of the believer is that when we obey sin, we yield ourselves to Satan, the author of that sin. Yielding to sin is yielding to a person – Satan. God doesn’t impute the sin to us but the devil does. Our actions either release the power of Satan or the power of God in us.

Although God is not imputing our sins unto us, we cannot afford the luxury of sin because it allows Satan to have access to us. When a Christian sins and allows the devil opportunity to produce his death in their life, the way to stop it is to confess the sin, and God who is faithful and just, will take the forgiveness that is already present in our born again spirit and release it in our flesh. This removes Satan and his strongholds.

The sins of a Christian don’t make him a sinner any more than the righteous acts of a sinner make him righteous. Sin is a very deadly thing that even Christians should avoid at all costs, but it does not determine our standing with the Lord. A person who is born again is not “in” the flesh even though he may walk “after” the flesh.

What is the motive for living a separated life? We live a separated life because our nature has been changed. We were darkness, now we are light (Eph. 5:8). Many people argue for holiness in order to obtain relationship with God. We need to live holy lives because of the relationship that we already have. It’s the nature of a Christian to walk in the light and not in darkness. If Christians were rightly informed of who they are and what they have in Christ, holiness would just naturally flow out of them. It’s their nature. It’s our nature.

May the LORD bless Nigeria, American and Israel and take care of us; May the LORD make His face shine upon us, And be gracious to us; May the Lord lift up His countenance upon us, And give us peace, In Jesus Christ Name, we pray! Amen!

Love God and Live by Faith

Deuteronomy 8:18, Thou shalt remember the Lord...

Love God and Live by Faith

Deuteronomy 8:6-7 says:

“Therefore thou shalt keep the commandments of the Lord thy God, to walk in His ways, and to fear Him. For the Lord thy God bringeth thee into a good land, a land of brooks of water, of fountains and depths that spring out of valleys and hills.”

We are Christians. We obey God, not to get something, but because He has already given us something. We obey Him, giving Him reverence and honouring Him. We walk in His ways and His paths. We represent Him to the world. We walk in righteousness and purity. Why? Because He has brought us into a land of such abundance, a land of goodness. God loves us so much, we can do nothing but love Him back. This is the heart of true faith. When we discover His love for us, we have no options but to love Him by living by faith.

Love God and live by faith!

May the LORD bless Nigeria, American and Israel and take care of us; May the LORD make His face shine upon us, And be gracious to us; May the Lord lift up His countenance upon us, And give us peace, In Jesus Christ Name, we pray! Amen!

Jesus came to fulfill the law

Jesus is considered by scholars such as Weber ...

Jesus came to fulfill the law.

Romans 13:10 “Love does no harm to a neighbor, therefore, love is the fulfillment of the law.”

Jesus came to fulfill the law, not to cast it out. The 10 commandments are still there & we need to obey them. The world, when they look at the Bible & us as Christians, they see the law “thou shalt not”. To them it’s just rules & rules they don’t necessarily want to obey. But the Word says, Jesus came to fulfill the law. How? through LOVE, for Jesus is love. When you have Jesus (love) you walk in love and when you walk in love, you fulfill the law without even thinking about it. Because love does no harm! Read Romans 13:8-14

May the LORD bless Nigeria, American and Israel and take care of us; May the LORD make His face shine upon us, And be gracious to us; May the Lord lift up His countenance upon us, And give us peace, In Jesus Christ Name, we pray! Amen!

Courage comes as we live with Jesus

Courage comes as we live with Jesus

“And who is he who will harm you if you become followers of what is good? But even if you should suffer for righteousness’ sake, you are blessed. And do not be afraid of their threats nor be troubled. I Peter 3:13-14”

On April 18, 2007, three Christians in Turkey were killed for their beliefs. Necati Aydin, a 35 year-old pastor was one of them.

He nearly didn’t go the office that morning. He’d been travelling and his wife, Semse, wanted him to stay home and rest. He admitted his weariness, but went on to work. There was much to be done. Semse recalls, “As my dear husband walked out the door, he smiled at me one last time. I didn’t know that was the last smile.”

Later that morning, attackers came to Necati Aydin’s office insisting he pray: “There is no God except Allah!” When Necati refused, the torture began. The last word from the office was the cry of an unswerving Christian: Messiah! Messiah!

I ponder the martyrs of Malatya and wonder, Would I make the sacrifice? Would I cry out, “Messiah! Messiah! Would I give my life?

How do we prepare? Linger long and often in the presence of Christ. Meditate on his grace. Ponder his love. Memorize his words.

Courage comes as we live with Jesus!

May the LORD bless Nigeria, American and Israel and take care of us; May the LORD make His face shine upon us, And be gracious to us; May the Lord lift up His countenance upon us, And give us peace, In Jesus Christ Name, we pray! Amen!

Forgive us our sins, just as we have forgiven those who have sinned against us

Corrie Milne 2007-11-11

Forgive us our sins, just as we have forgiven those who have sinned against us.

Let the mercy of Jesus be your model

Jesus Christ is our Example

(Matthew 6:12)

In 1944, during the horrible days of World War II, in the Ravensbruck concentration camp, Corrie Ten Boom and many other emaciated women worked long hours every day under the watchful eye of the prison guards. That year, Corrie’s sister, Betsie, died, a victim of the tortuous conditions.

In 1947, after the war, Corrie spoke to a group of Germans in a sparsely furnished Munich church basement. During her talk, she said, “Those who have been able to forgive their former enemies have been able to rebuild their lives…We, as Christians, have every reason to forgive each other, for our God richly lavishes His mercy on us.”

When she finished, she was approached by a balding, heavyset man in a gray overcoat. Horror filled her as she realized he had been one of the prison guards.

He thrust out his hand. “How good it is to know that, as you say, all our sins are at the bottom of the sea!” Dumbfounded, Corrie did not take his hand.

He went on, “I have become a Christian. I know that God has forgiven me… but I would like to hear it from your lips as well. Fraulein, will you forgive me?

Corrie remembered how he had pushed Betsie with the butt of his gun. Slowly, her hand moved toward his. Their hands touched and she finally vigorously shook his hand. With tears in her eyes, she said, “I forgive you, brother…with all my heart.

God loves us no matter what we have done. He forgives us when we ask. Since God richly lavishes His mercy on us, we must show mercy. And that means letting go of hurts caused by others.

Your View of God Really Matters …

If you have been offended, how does it compare with the experience of Corrie ten Boom, and Jesus, both of whom forgave their attackers. You can too. Let the mercy of Jesus be your model.

What More Does God Say?

Acts 7:59-60

I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from God’s Love

Love ? I love love love you.

I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from God’s Love (Romans 8:38)

God Is Love

Wandering, But Not Lost

Robert Robinson became a Christian when he was 17. He later entered the ministry to serve Christ with great devotion.

But Robinson was an honest man, and he acknowledged his love for Jesus was not dependable. At times his well of his devotion ran dry. Troubled, he began to write out his thoughts and feelings, and finally produced a timeless hymn, Come Thou Fount of Every Blessing .

As time moved on, he wandered farther and farther from God. He came to feel that the distance between God and himself had become too great to be reconciled. He was miserable man, consumed by his own guilt.

One day, riding in a stagecoach, a young lady was seated across from him. She was filled with the joy of Christ and could talk of nothing else. He was a captive audience. Handing a hymnal across to him she said, “Sir, I’d like your opinion of one of these hymns.”

Robinson looked at the page and found himself confronted by his own words. His throat ran dry. He began to nod slowly, the words finally followed: “I am the man who wrote that hymn,” he said. “Many years ago. I’d give anything to experience that joy again—anything.”

The young lady, although shocked, pointed to the lines he knew so well. She began to speak gently about the “streams of mercy, never ceasing” that were still deep enough to drown his tears. That day Robert Robinson, broken and defeated, rediscovered the love he had left behind.

Your View of God Really Matters …

Do you ever feel, like Robert Robertson, that the distance between you and God is insurmountable. If you don’t have a traditional hymnal, go online and search for “Come Thou Fount of Every Blessing” . Let the words sink into your heart.

You are light in the Lord. Walk as children of light

Ephesians 5:8

READ: Ephesians 5:1-10

To be honest, I wasn’t happy to be making another trip to the store. For the previous 4 weeks, my wife and I had been trying to get a refund for a bad refrigerator. As I spoke with the manager—again—it seemed that we were heading down another dead-end road. As we talked, I wondered if we would ever get our money back, but I tried to be gracious.

At one point the manager said, “By now, customers are usually yelling at me, but you’ve been so patient.” Then he said, “Let’s try something else.” He asked me some questions and punched some numbers into a cash register. After a short delay—and some stories about irate customers—the machine spit out a receipt showing a refund! Our appliance nightmare was over. “Thanks for being so good to work with,” he said as we parted ways.

While I think being nice when I didn’t feel nice helped in this process, getting refunds is not why we should show kindness to others. The real reason is that as Christians we are to reflect the light of Jesus (Eph. 5:8) on everyone—whether it’s an irate neighbour, a bumbling waiter, or a department store manager. Our speech and behaviour are to be a positive witness (Eph. 4:29-32; Col. 4:6). Are you facing a conflict? Let Jesus’ light shine through. —Dave Branon

As people of the Lord we’re called
To follow in His way;
And then all those who watch our lives
Will see Him on display. —Sper

People are attracted to Christ when you shine His light from your life.

God’s Treasured Possession

Now if you obey me, and keep my covenant, then out of all nations you will be my treasured possession. Although the whole earth is mine, you will be for me a kingdom of priests, and a holy nation.
Exodus 19:5-6

We know as Christians that we are bound by faith and not the law. Yet we know that the Ten Commandments and God’s law still hold an important place in our hearts, even if we’ve never stopped to contemplate this heavenly promise-the promise that those who obey God and keep the covenant of the Ten Commandments are “treasured possessions.”

The Lord has made other promises to us concerning the law. Psalms 19:7 says, “The law of the Lord is perfect, reviving the soul. The statutes of the Lord are trustworthy, making wise the simple.” If your soul is starting to flag and grow weary, if you are starting to feel overwhelmed and confused by the world, turn to the Lord’s ten simple laws, the commandments He put forth to His people on Mount Sinai all those centuries ago.

That’s why you must never think the Ten Commandments are obsolete. That’s why it is still important to study them today, to make them a part of your heart, so that you too may be the Lord’s “treasured possession.”
