Finding Rest in God’s Promises

When
we rest in the Lord

Don’t
Sweat It, Rest!

Ruth
3:18

18Then
she said, “Sit still, my daughter, until you know how the matter will turn out;
for the man will not rest until he has concluded the matter this day.”

God
does not want you to “sweat”. Sweat here does not refer to your body’s
perspiration, but your self-reliance or self-effort. God does not want you to
believe that if you don’t do anything, nothing will happen. That may be true
for someone without God in his life, but it is not true for you because you
have God. And when He is in the picture, the God-factor changes everything!

When
you are resting in God, He works for you. In fact, when He works, you end up
with more. He is the one who is giving to you. It is not about you trying to
give to yourself.

This
was what happened to Ruth in the Old Testament. After laboring in the barley
fields from morning to evening, she was able to glean one ephah of barley (Ruth
2:17), which was equivalent to a 10-day supply of barley. Certainly, this
amount was a blessing to her.

But
when she rested at the feet of Boaz, her kinsman-redeemer, and did not labor,
she received six ephahs of barley (Ruth 3:15), which was equivalent to a 60-day
supply! When Ruth sought her own blessing, she obtained only one ephah. But
when she sought the blesser, she received much more.

Ruth’s
blessings did not stop there. While Ruth rested and sat still as her
mother-in-law Naomi had instructed, Boaz, who was the owner of the barley
field, went to work, initiating actions, executing them and speaking on Ruth’s
behalf. Right through it all, Ruth sat still and rested. Eventually, Boaz, the
barley man himself, married Ruth. (Ruth 4) That meant no more measured wealth
of six ephahs, but the yield of the whole barley field in total!

Boaz
is a picture of Jesus, our heavenly kinsman-redeemer. When we rest in the Lord,
He will not rest. He will work on our behalf. What do we do then? We just trust
in and enjoy His love for us.

Beloved,
stop striving and be at rest. If salvation, the greatest work, comes to us by
resting in Jesus’ finished work, how much more will all the other blessings?

May GOD bless Nigeria, America
and Israel and take care of us; May GOD make His face shine upon us, And be
gracious to us; May the LORD lift up His countenance upon us, And give us
peace, In Jesus Christ Name, we pray! Amen!

May the grace the Lord Jesus
Christ, and the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you
all. Amen!

Proverbs 18. The Name of the LORD is a strong tower.

Proverbs 18. The Name of the LORD is a strong tower.

(Show chapter frame)

1 Through desire a man, having separated himself, seeketh and intermeddleth with all wisdom.

2 A fool hath no delight in understanding, but that his heart may discover itself.

3 When the wicked cometh, then cometh also contempt, and with ignominy reproach.

4 The words of a man’s mouth are as deep waters, and the wellspring of wisdom as a flowing brook.

5 It is not good to accept the person of the wicked, to overthrow the righteous in judgment.

6 A fool’s lips enter into contention, and his mouth calleth for strokes. 7 A fool’s mouth is his destruction, and his lips are the snare of his soul.

8 The words of a talebearer are as wounds, and they go down into the innermost parts of the belly.

9 He also that is slothful in his work is brother to him that is a great waster.

10 The name of the LORD is a strong tower: the righteous runneth into it, and is safe.

11 The rich man’s wealth is his strong city, and as an high wall in his own conceit.

12 Before destruction the heart of man is haughty, and before honour is humility.

13 He that answereth a matter before he heareth it, it is folly and shame unto him.

14 The spirit of a man will sustain his infirmity; but a wounded spirit who can bear?

15 The heart of the prudent getteth knowledge; and the ear of the wise seeketh knowledge.

16 A man’s gift maketh room for him, and bringeth him before great men.

17 He that is first in his own cause seemeth just; but his neighbour cometh and searcheth him.

18 The lot causeth contentions to cease, and parteth between the mighty.

19 A brother offended is harder to be won than a strong city: and their contentions are like the bars of a castle.

20 A man’s belly shall be satisfied with the fruit of his mouth; and with the increase of his lips shall he be filled.

21 Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof.

22 Whoso findeth a wife findeth a good thing, and obtaineth favour of the LORD.

23 The poor useth entreaties; but the rich answereth roughly.

24 A man that hath friends must show himself friendly: and there is a friend that sticketh closer than a brother.

May God bless Nigeria, America and Israel and take care of us; May God make His face shine upon us, And be gracious to us; May the Lord lift up His countenance upon us, And give us peace, In Jesus Christ Name, we pray! Amen!

May the grace the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all. Amen!

I am not a millionaire! Neither am I a rich man!

Election has its consequences! If you see me posting Mr. Peter Obi upanda, is because I want a better Nigeria, where nobody begs for the least of things!

Another election is coming in less than 16 months, if you like keeping saying “My vote will not count! I will not waste my energy casting my vote” but you will not let people like us that campaign, invest our little resources in making sure the right people get into office and finally cast our votes, rest with you ceaseless calls for financial help.

Mr. Peter Obi does not even know I exist! When he wins, I will not get any personal favors from him! But every Nigeria will “drink water and keep his or her cup!” We will sleep with our eyes closed and we will not beg to eat.

Today alone I have gotten 5 different financial requests! The more I tell them I don’t have, is the more they keep ringing up my line. Even some strangers have joined the blackmail bandwagon, trying to emotionally blackmail me with Church. I wonder where they always get my number from.

Where una wan make I find this money give una!

It is beginning to piss me off! It now looks like A SET UP!

Somebody said to me the other day “Life no be like this Oooo! Nobody know tomorrow! As you dey chop today, tomorrow fit be my turn! Life na turn by turn” simply because I said I don’t have money to give.

Do you people think I am insulated from all the hardship in Nigeria because I have pot belly?

Once I make my millions I will leave Lagos, Lagos is where we hustle for our seed-capital!

One idiot blocked me on all social media, because he asked me to make the transfer from a hospital bed and I said no, he got annoyed and blocked me!

Una get mind Ooo! Person wey dey on admission for hospital, una still dey ask for money, no be wickedness plus witchcraft be that!

Shebi! No be me suppose block the fool?! But the idiot blocked me in anger, onto money wey e dey beg me! I never see this entitlement mentality!

If I have and I don’t give, that will be another thing!

But I don’t have and I hate to beg too

See as my heart dey palpitate as I dey write this piece!

When una ready we go Nepal for Nigeria! Till then I am just a young man who is still trusting GOD for that big breakthrough!

Make I lay down and close my eyes! If I stand up I fit faint!

Thank You Jesus,

My Dad 🕊️: Remembering a Tough Man’s Final, Tender Goodbye

My Dad🕊️

Two days ago, for the first time in my life, my dad signed off a message to me with “kisses.” I laughed, wondering why one of the toughest men I know would be blowing kisses to me, his first son, whom he had taught to be tough. Affection is for weak men… lol.

It was a subtle sign.

He got back from work yesterday; we had spoken a few hours earlier. He lay down on the bed to rest, never woke up, and passed with a smile on his face. He was only 60.

He wasn’t just my dad, he was my best friend.

Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need

Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need. —Hebrews 4:16

During World War II, the British Isles represented the last line of resistance against the sweep of Nazi oppression in Europe. Under relentless attack and in danger of collapse, however, Britain lacked the resources to see the conflict through to victory. For that reason, British Prime Minister Winston Churchill went on BBC radio and appealed to the world: “Give us the tools, and we will finish the job.” He knew that without help from the outside, they could not endure the assault they were facing.

Life is like that. Often, we are inadequate for the troubles life throws at us, and we need help from outside of ourselves. As members of the body of Christ, that help can come at times from our Christian brothers and sisters (Rom. 12:10-13)—and that is a wonderful thing. Ultimately, however, we seek help from our heavenly Father. The good and great news is that our God has invited us to come confidently before Him: “Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need” (Heb. 4:16).

At such times, our greatest resource is prayer—for it brings us into the very presence of God. There we find, in His mercy and grace, the help we need. —Bill Crowder

God has given you His promise,
That He hears and answers prayer,
He will heed your supplication
If you cast on Him your care. —Bernstecher

Don’t let prayer be your last recourse in time of need; make it your first.

May Our God The Almighty prosper Nigeria and Israel and defend us from all our enemies in Jesus Christ Name, Amen!

Abba Father

You received the Spirit of sonship. And by him we
cry, “Abba,” Father.

Romans 8:15, NIV

What makes you and I think we can do without a
personal prayer life? It’s through prayer that we come into a personal,
intimate relationship with our heavenly Father.

Do you long to have a closer relationship with God,
but you don’t feel worthy? Are you convinced you are a nobody and therefore
would never be accepted, much less welcomed, into His presence?

Praise God! Our entrance into His presence is not
based on our own worthiness but on the worthiness of Jesus Christ! When we
enter God’s presence in Jesus’ name, we are as accepted by God as Jesus is,
because God counts us as His own dear children!

Jesus invites you and I, in His name, to come into
His Father’s presence through prayer, crawl up into His lap by faith, put our
head on His shoulder of strength, feel His loving arms of protection around us,
call Him “Abba” Daddy, and pour out our hearts to Him in prayer!

May GOD bless Nigeria, America
and Israel and take care of us; May GOD make His face shine upon us, And be
gracious to us; May the LORD lift up His countenance upon us, And give us
peace, In Jesus Christ Name, we pray! Amen!

Bible Study Outline:

Theme: JESUS.

Introduction: There has not been any man who walked on the face of this earth like Jesus. Because He is God who became man, John 1:1-14. No name like His. Philippians 2:9-11. And all begins and end with Him, Colossians 1:17.

As we study Him, may we be mightily blessed in Jesus Name, Amen!

What Jesus Did For Us?

No man has done more for the human race than Jesus. He saves, by His blood; heals, by His stripes; delivers, by being the truth; supplies, through His riches and protects, through His superior fighting ability. Matthew 1:21. 1 John 1:17; Exodus 15:26; 1 Peter 2:24; John 8:32, 36; John 14:6; John 10:10; Philippians 4:19; Philippians 2:9-11; Psalm 24:7-10.    2.

What Jesus Expects From Us In return for all He did for us?

He expects certain things from us in return. He expects us to have faith in Him; to submit to Him; to obey Him, to win souls; follow them up until they become established and to watch and pray as we expect His second coming. John 14:1, John 1:11-12; Matthew 11:28-30; Luke 6:46; John 1:11-12; Matthew 11:28-30; Luke 6:46; John 15:14; John 15:16; Matthew 28:18-20; Matthew 24:36-44.

Conclusion: Is Jesus your LORD indeed? Are you obeying Him completely? Are you ready for His return? Let’s go to Him in prayer.

Amen!

No Reason To Fear Child Of God.

“Then said Jesus unto them again, verily, verily, I say unto you, I am the door of the sheep. I am the good shepherd: the good shepherd giveth his life for the sheep.” John 10:7, 11

Throughout the Bible, particularly the New Testament, God used things that we can readily identify with to speak to us the deep mystery of the Kingdom. Jesus used the everyday things around to teach very deep truths that every believer ought to know. He knew that if you can just catch a glimpse of what He is saying, you will be more effective ministers of the Gospel.

Look at our text again; do you understand the full import of what Jesus was saying? If you truly understand our text for today, you will have no reason to fear anything in life. Let me break it down a little – The sheepfold is a place where the sheep are kept safe. There is an opening into this place through which the sheep is herded in. The good shepherd then sleeps right across that opening in the night. The implication is whenever danger comes the enemy had to first contend with the shepherd before entering the sheepfold. Now you can understand it better when Jesus says He is the door to the sheepfold and the good shepherd.

This means that the good shepherd guarantees the supply of all my needs and he, who is the door to the sheepfold, also guarantees my protection from any evil. Hallelujah! So I can say without any shadow of fear that nothing shall by any means hurt me. The same is true for you, if only you will believe. Beloved, you have no reason to fear.
