Epaphras, who is one of you, a servant of Christ, saluteth you, always labouring fervently for you in prayers, that ye may stand perfect and complete in all the will of God (Colossians 4:12).
Epaphras wasn’t a pastor, prophet, apostle, or deacon; yet he had this remarkable testimony as one who always laboured fervently in prayers for the saints. The phrase “labouring fervently” is translated from the Greek word “agōnizomai,” which means to strive, struggle, or contend, particularly in the face of opposition.
This is the same word used in 1 Timothy 6:12, which says, “Fight the good fight of faith….” It gives us an idea about prayer as a warfare, a fight. Epaphras was “fighting” in the spirit, contending for the saints to stand perfect and complete in all the will of God.
This kind of prayer is intense and unwavering. It’s not about asking God for material things but standing in the gap for others, ensuring they remain firm in God’s purpose for their lives. Have you ever prayed like that? Have you fought in prayers for Christians in your church, your city and your nation?
You can’t be a true soul winner without this kind of dedication in prayer. It requires persistence, fervency and deep passion. This is where the evangelicals of old got the expression “prayer warriors” from; this kind of prayer is a battle for the souls of men.
Like Epaphras, be that “warrior” in prayer who ensures that others stand perfect and complete in all the will of God. Even right now, pray earnestly for fellow Christians in your church, city, and around the world, especially those facing trials, opposition, or struggles in their walk of faith; that they may be strengthened with might by God’s Spirit in their inner man.
Declare that they are rooted and established in God’s truth, unwavering in their commitment to the Gospel, and empowered to rise above every difficulty as they walk in victory, faith, and boldness. If you pray for them this way, consistently, they’ll surely stand firm and immovable, abounding in the work of the Lord. Hallelujah!
PRAYER
Dear Father, I pray right now for Christians around the world, especially those who are facing challenges and persecutions as a result of their faith in Christ; they stand perfect and complete in all your will, and their love for you grows stronger by the day. Their convictions remain unshaken, and they fulfil their divine destiny with joy and perseverance in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

When you discover, know it is time for you to recover.
The spirit of excellence in you is for problem solving. The Holy Ghost is the spirit of excellence personified. He is the mastermind behind the construction of the world because he was there when God was laying the foundation of the earth. It is the Holy Ghost, the spirit of excellence that hovered upon the face of the deep, according Genesis 1:2. It is the Holy Ghost, the spirit of excellence in Daniel, who interpreted the dreams for Nebuchadnezzar when he was baffled with a problem he did not understand. Every time the spirit of excellence comes into manifestation through Daniel, it is always geared towards solving a problem. This is an essential attribute to learn about Daniel. He is a problem solver and the spirit of God is ever ready to back him up with manifestations every time he sets out to act.
Jesus speaking in Luke also tells us about the purpose of the spirit of excellence which is the spirit of our God. He said “The spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor, he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised, to preach the acceptable year of the Lord.” Luke 4:18-19. Daniel was an administrator who was called upon to help in the administration of several kings. How did Daniel manifest the spirit of excellence? First, we see from the scriptures that Daniel maintained a life of fasting. He was determined not to defile himself with the king’s food or with the wine drank in the palace. When it was announced that no one should worship other gods but the king Darius alone, we see him do something extraordinary, Daniel in the scriptures flung his windows open and prayed three times daily. To manifest the spirit of excellence demands the sacrifice of denying self. The spirit of excellence is the spirit of greatness. It made Daniel great and brought him before kings. You can experience the same if you are ready to embrace the Holy Spirit and desist from anything that can tarnish your body, soul and spirit.

28:18. And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth.
28:19. “Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,
28:20. “teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, [even] to the end of the age.” Amen.
STUDY: The Christian Missionary Society was founded in 1799 in England with the aim of reaching the world outside England, with the Gospel. The mission came into Nigeria in 1841 in what is called the first Niger Expedition. However, it was during the second Niger expedition, led by the Rev. Samuel Ajayi Crowther, who later became the first black African Bishop, that the Mission was established. The Mission ensured the growth of Christianity in Nigerian. Christian Missions also brought education, health services and agricultural development which resulted in economic empowerment and stopped uncivilised ritual activities such as killing of twins.
There are people who accuse Christian Missions of helping slavery. But in actual fact, it was the missionaries who rose as advocates for the stopping of slave trade. In our reading today, our Lord concluded his final instructions to his disciples by telling them what was uppermost in his heart: That all nations might be made disciples through the missionary activities of his apostles.
The instruction was “Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations…” This is called the Great Commission, and all who have been saved and have been rightly instructed in the word of God are meant to be involved in the task by using the different platforms (vocation, professions, groups, communities, etc.), available to them, to make disciples. We must note that the gospel is the only means by which men can be rescued from darkness into God’s marvelous light.

9. “There is a lad here who has five barley loaves and two small fish, but what are they among so many?”
10. Then Jesus said, “Make the people sit down.” Now there was much grass in the place. So the men sat down, in number about five thousand.
11. And Jesus took the loaves, and when He had given thanks He distributed them to the disciples, and the disciples to those sitting down; and likewise of the fish, as much as they wanted.
12. So when they were filled, He said to His disciples, “Gather up the fragments that remain, so that nothing is lost.”
13. Therefore they gathered them up, and filled twelve baskets with the fragments of the five barley loaves which were left over by those who had eaten.
MESSAGE:
James 4:2 reveals why some Christians still suffer from lack. Do you know that if you ask God to end lack in your life, He will grant your request? In today’s Bible reading, Jesus fed thousands of people with five loaves of bread and two fishes. By the time everybody had been fed, they still had 12 baskets extra. When God provides for your needs, He gives you more than enough to satisfy you. Your big request is a little thing for Him to fulfil.
Years ago, I travelled to London on an official assignment, and three days before my return, I had run out of money and needed 50 pounds to buy some books and tapes. I turned to God, “Daddy, it would be good if I could get 50 pounds.” Shortly after, my phone rang. The fellow on the line said, “Biyi?” I told him there was nobody with that name where I was, and as we talked, he got to know who I was. Excitedly, he called out to his brother, telling him that he was speaking with me. Apparently, they had been discussing how they could see me, and now, I was on the phone with them. Eventually, they came over, we talked, and as they were leaving, they gave me 50 pounds. Immediately they left, I said, “Daddy, if I knew it would be this easy, I would’ve asked for 100 pounds.” As I rejoiced over the 50 pounds, the doorbell rang, but before l got to the door, an envelope had been slipped under the door. I opened it and realised it came from a wealthy man who had never given me a dime before. Inside was 50 pounds and a note saying, “I just felt like giving you some money.” Then, I told God that if I had known that another 50 pounds would come, I would have asked for an extra 50 pounds. That night, before I slept, someone gave me another 50 pounds! I became afraid and told God that I was only joking and didn’t want to offend Him. God reminded me of this incident recently and told me I had been foolish. “If you asked Me for 50 pounds and I provided it, why didn’t you ask for 5,000 pounds?”
Beloved, find out God’s will concerning your needs and ensure your requests are in alignment with it. Stop complaining about lack in your life; rather, ask God to meet your exact needs.
Do not waver in faith, and He will surely answer you.

On the website of Preaching Today, we find the fascinating story of Admiral William H. McRaven, a former Navy SEAL officer in the U.S. Army. He said, “Hope is the most powerful force in the universe. With hope, you can inspire nations to greatness. With hope, you can raise up the downtrodden. With hope, you can ease the pain of unbearable loss. Sometimes, all it takes is one person to make a difference. We will all find ourselves neck-deep in mud someday. That is the time to sing loudly, smile broadly, lift up those around you, and give them hope that tomorrow will be a better day.”
The heroes of faith have one thing in common. That is the rare capacity to see the tangible objects of their faith, though they are yet hidden in the womb of time. From our text, Noah received God’s warning of an impending flood and was commanded to build an ark to salvage those who would believe. Prompted by the reverential fear of God, he ventured to do what no other had ever done in known history. His faith put him on the pedestal of righteousness, towering above the sinful world that was later condemned because of their unbelief. Abraham obeyed God’s call to relocate to a land that would be his future inheritance and that of his progeny. Years wore on, but he dwelled in the strange land with Isaac and Jacob, believing with unadulterated persuasion that God could also perform what He’ had promised. Sarah, too, had passed the age of childbearing but by faith “received strength to conceive seed, and was delivered of a child when she was past age.”
Delay in the fulfilment of the divine promise could not sink the patience of any of these faith-worthies. They saw the objects of God’s promises afar off, and no delay could dampen their enthusiastic expectation. Indeed, they saw themselves as pilgrims on a nobler journey in quest of a heavenly city prepared for the faithful.
Beloved, your confidence in God’s promises has great reward. Keep on trusting in His promises. Run your faith engine on the unalloyed fuel of patience, and He will not fail you.

INTRODUCTION:
The 2025 Annual Convention is approaching. Travelling has its challenges with its attendant risks, particularly from distant places to the Redemption Camp. We therefore need to pray for provisions and divine protection.

1. Father, we bless Your Holy name for the salvation of our souls. Psa 103:1
2. Let us bless the name of the Lord. It has been the Lord’s mercies that we were not consumed, because His compassions have not failed us. Lam, 3:22, Ps. 34:1

4. Father, we thank You for journey mercies in the past Holy Ghost Convention.

Some people distaste dos and don’ts. In particular, they frown at anything that looks like a negative command. What such people do not realise is that the so-called positive and negative commands are like the two wings of a bird that enables it to fly. From time, God’s instructions have always been stated in both positive and negative modes – dos and don’ts. This helps to make the issue more pointed and reduces doubts about what is required of us.
The event that took place in the mountains of Gerizim and Ebal concerning the Israelites as captured in today’s text is a classic example of the dos and don’ts concept. Just before the Jews entered Canaan, Moses had prepared them by giving them God’s laws that should guide every aspect of their lives, including personal conduct, relationships, and worship. They were summoned to Gerizim and Ebal, two mountains that were side by side in Ephraim between which lay the city of Schechem. There, they were to give full expression of their commitment to the commandments of God by binding themselves to the blessings pronounced on the obedient as well as curses declared on the disobedient. The twelve tribes were divided into two with six standing on mount Gerizim from where the blessings would be pronounced and the other six on mount Ebal from where the curses would be uttered. The people agreed to these with a unanimous ‘amen’.
The Gerizim and Ebal experience in Canaan land aimed to strengthen the people’s obedience to divine laws. Blessings were offered as a reward for compliance, while curses acted as a deterrent for disobedience. In today’s era, God’s word still guides us on how to stay in His favour and avoid His wrath. The gospel encompasses both blessings and warnings about God’s judgment for those who remain unrepentant and disobedient.
We should be grateful for God’s double-layered arrangement of promises and warnings. These blessings should inspire us to follow God’s will, while the warnings should deter us from straying. Both aspects are meant to guide us in our Christian walk and help us stay on the righteous path set by God.
