CHRIST HAS FULFILLED THE CONDITION OF THE LAW

“Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfill.” (Matthew 5:17 KJV)

A born-again believer is a new creature. Believers cannot be condemned for the errors they committed inside Christ because of what Jesus Christ already accomplished on their behalf. Romans 8:1 (KJV) says “There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.” Walking after the Spirit is living according to what Christ has accomplished on the cross on your behalf. It is walking in the knowledge and understanding of what Christ did already on your behalf.

Furthermore, the book of Romans 8:2-3 (KJV) says, “For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death. For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh:” The law was weak to deliver you and set you free from sin. Rather, the law condemned you. The law’s assignment is to condemn you, to kill you, and to make you know that unless you reach out for the Saviour, you have no hope.

The law was never meant to be kept. It was meant for everyone to come under condemnation so that you will know that there is a need for a Saviour and then appreciate the work of Grace even more. It was given so that you will be able to acknowledge the fact that if not for the Grace of God, there is no hope for you.

The reason God condemned sin in the flesh is so “That the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.” (Romans 8:4 KJV).

The law made some demands on you, but you couldn’t keep it. So Jesus came to deal with the law so that you can have His righteousness.

THE STUDY OF THE BOOK OF ROMANS, FOCUS ON CHAPTERS 4 AND 6, DEATH THROUGH ADAM, LIFE THROUGH CHRIST

TEXT: ROMANS 5:12-21

INTODUCTION/SUMMARY

The book of Romans is highly praised for clearly articulating key doctrines such as man’s Sinfulness, Justification by faith, Regeneration, Union with Christ, Adoption, and Sanctification. The book of Romans is known for its rich, deep, glorious, and at times unsettling theological assertions and implications. Running through chapters 1 -4, Paul highlights how humanity deliberately walk and continue to walk in disobedience; and that man, Jews and Gentiles alike needed restoration. He further declares the goal of his apostleship which is to bring about the obedience of faith clarifying that believing and obeying must necessarily go together and should never be pitted against each other.

Today, we are continuing the study looking at chapters 5 and 6, to review Paul’s comparison of Adam and Christ Jesus; and what their choices brought to humanity (world), exploring the benefits that comes with being justified righteous in the eyes of God by our faith in Christ Jesus and negating the common misconception about salvation by grace through faith.

CHAPTER 5:

The key objectives of studying chapter 5 is to further understand how God demonstrated His love for mankind, by taking the first step to reconciliation not waiting for man to be strong and perfect but while we were still sinners sent Jesus Christ to die for us.

2. That we are no longer enemies of God because of sin but reconciled forever children of God through Christ.

3. That by one man (Adam) the whole of humanity was dead in sin and by one man (Jesus Christ) humanity is now dead to sin and restored by faith,.

4. That faith in Christ Jesus, not works is the means by which God declares us righteous and justified.

Outlines:

Faith in Christ Jesus and the cross is the way to salvation/Justification; and therefore the foundation of our walk with God. Is salvation/Justification solely by faith?

Benefits Of Justification – Rom 5:1-4

• Peace with God

• We stand in God’s grace

• We have hope for eternal glory

By one man’s disobedience all were made sinners – Gen 3, Rom 5:12-14.

Solidarity in guilt implies solidarity in penalty – Romans 6:23, Ezekiel 18:4

Sin and death principle – Psalms 51:5, Psalms 58:3, Job 14:4

By obedience of One (Christ Jesus) all are made righteous by faith Romans 5:15-19

CHAPTER 6:

The key objective in this chapter is

1. Refute the misconception that grace is latitude for sin – Rom 6:1-2.

2. Paul’s admonition that Christians should not continue in sin, once they have been declared righteous by God.

3. How a Christian sees himself is an important component of the “obedience of faith”

Outline

God’s grace is greater than sin: Rom 6:1-2

Crucified with Christ Rom 6:3-6

Apostle Paul throws more light on what happens when a person comes to faith in Christ on a spiritual level – he said such a person experiences spiritual death to sin, rather than to God; and a rebirth that equals Jesus’ own physical death and resurrection. The person is then raised to a new spiritual life.

Not a slave to sin – Rom 6:4-14

Consider yourself dead to sin – Rom 6:11

Lifestyle of volunteer slavery to righteousness – 6:15-23.

Grace And Faith

For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast.

Ephesians 2:8-9

Isn’t it funny how there are basically two kinds of religions in the world? There are those religions of works, which are false religions. And then there is religion by faith, which is true religion. Those are the only two categories: works-based religion and faith-based religion.

Now, a religion of works says do. It tells you that if you accomplish XYZ in your life, you’ve done well. If you haven’t, then you’ve done badly. That’s how works-based religion determines the success of the follower.

But the faith-based religion, the religion of Christ (which is not a religion but a relationship) has already been done. It takes into account the fact that God is so holy and man is so sinful that there’s no amount of good works we can do to even come close to success. That’s why Jesus came… to live the life we couldn’t and give us His righteousness as He took away our sin.

When Jesus cried out, “It is finished,” He said, “Done!” The work of salvation has been accomplished. And because of His faithful obedience which took Him to the cross, you can now have life in His name by placing your faith in Him!

Christ Did The Work You Couldn’t Do So That You Can Have Eternal Life. So Thank Him Today For That Wonderful Gift!

I Refuse To Give Up Or Throw In The Towel Because Grace Is About To Speak For Me

You may have toiled, and struggle with something in time past, but I come to encourage you today to arise from the place of defeat and intimidation: because it’s a new season for you. Beloved, old things have passed away, so blow your nose, wipe your tears for God is about to do something new in your life. Refuse to give up or throw in the towel because grace is about to speak for you.

In Luke chapter 5, we are told that story of Peter, the professional fisherman who toiled all night: but caught nothing. Note that there was nothing wrong with Peter, nor was there anything wrong with the time he chose to fish. Peter had everything! He had the right tools for a successful fishing business. He possessed the knowledge and expertise and he had the right companion and he went out at the right time; but all these failed to deliver success until Jesus came on the scene. It was like a season of frustration in his life. Are you encountering frustration in any area of life? Relax, for you can see that Peter’s story changed the moment Jesus came to the scene.

Just like Peter, you may have laboured and done all you know how to do, but nothing significant seems be happening; I have good news for you, because that same Jesus who did it for Peter is still on the throne. You’ve got to stop trying to figure out things by yourself or getting things done by your strength. For as long as Peter exerted his strength, nothing worked until he yielded it over to God. God doesn’t play with words. I can assure you that as you put your trust in Him He will take over your case. I declare that new jobs, new business, new relationships, new streams of income and fresh opportunities will spring forth in your life. Forget how it didn’t work before now or how you were disappointed in time past. Beloved, if He says He will do a ‘new thing’ in your life; believe it and you will see it manifest.

Welcome To A Life Of Shalom. A Life Of Total Peace Where Nothing Is Broken Or Missing

“Be not carried about with divers and strange doctrines. For it is a good thing that the heart be established with grace; not with meats, which have not profited them that have been occupied therein.”
Hebrews 13:9 (KJV)

In a world that is filled with anxiety, turmoil, and worry, God wants your heart to be established by grace. To establish is to found, build, or bring into being on a firm or stable basis; it is to install or settle something in a position, to bring something about permanently.

Look around you. You will notice that people are constantly trying to outdo each other. You will also find that the more you do, the more you discover that you have not done enough and that you are very much behind. The world is in a rat race; people are running around trying to achieve what no one else has. Many are sweating profusely under the weight of their efforts, yet they are not getting any worthwhile results. They end up frustrated and discouraged; they throw in the towel and claim that nothing is working in their favour. But the problem is with them. They have refused to take advantage of what Jesus has done for them.

The truth is that whenever you think that you have done much to please God and that your actions will make heaven move on your behalf, you will instead end up full of worries and anxieties. Your mind will continually think about those areas that you have missed. The devil will magnify your errors before you and will show you why you do not qualify for the grace of God. This is because you can never obey God perfectly. However, when you depend on God’s grace, which is His undeserved, unearned, unmerited favour, your heart will be established. Faith in the finished work of Christ on your behalf is what qualifies you. You must be established in the fact that, your healing, protection, prosperity, and success in life have all been paid for by the finished work of Christ on the cross. God’s blessings are guaranteed in your life because they are not predicated on your ability to keep His laws; instead they depend on Jesus’s perfect obedience. Welcome to a life of shalom-a life of total peace where nothing is broken or missing.

The reason why some of you have been writing applications over the years and it seems as though nothing is happening is because God wants you to create a job. There are a lot of opportunities in African countries, especially Nigeria. A lot of opportunities abound because most of the countries are in their paediatrics. Just starting. Just look around, your money is all over the place. When the government is talking about billions and trillions, that is an indication of what is happening. Money is circulating all over the place and you are not supposed to be left behind.

When you understand this perspective, you have insights, you will generate concepts and ideas the world is still searching for and you become a solution provider to the problems and challenges around the world. Do you know that very soon we will not be using fuel again? Another source of energy will be developed. It will require insight in the spirit realm. Who knows if you will be the person to tap into it?

What is wrong with believers is that we are always sitting down and reacting rather than being proactive which is what being born again means. Beloved, do you think all this thing about being born again is about sitting down in church? You are supposed to get into the realm of the spirit and operate in the dimension of God. That is what it means! You ought to be gaining entrance into the heavenly realm so you could begin to see things beyond what your colleagues or contemporaries can see. Thus, they will begin to see you as a wonder. I declare to you today that because of the insight God is giving you, you will amaze your world and your world will bow in awe of your God. I bless you today in the name of the Lord.
