Hymn 661: ‘I Always Go To Jesus’ – Find refuge, relief, and strength in Jesus in times of trouble, sorrow, and joy.

Hymn 661: I Always Go To Jesus

1:

I always go to Jesus,

When troubled or distressed,

I always find a refuge,

Upon His loving breast,

I tell Him all my trials,

I tell Him all my grief,

And while my lips are speaking,

He gives my heart relief.

2:

When full of dread forebodings,

And flowing o’er my tears

He calms away my sorrow,

And hushes all my fears,

He comprehends my weakness,

The peril I am in,

And He supplies the armour,

I need to conquer sin.

3:

I always go to Jesus,

No matter when or where

I seek His gracious presence,

I’m sure to find Him there

In times of joy or sorrow

What’er my need may be,

I always go to Jesus,

And Jesus comes to me.

Thank You Jesus,

Salvation Prayers

If you don’t Know Jesus as your personal Lord and Saviour and would like to accept him into your life as your personal Lord and Saviour, Please say this prayer:

Father, I know that I have broken your laws and my sins have separated me from You. I am truly sorry, and now I want to turn away from my past sinful life toward You. Please forgive me, and help me avoid sinning again. I believe that Your son, Jesus Christ died for my sins, was resurrected from the dead, is alive, and hears my prayer. I invite Jesus to become the Lord of my life, to rule and reign in my heart from this day forward. Please send Your Holy Spirit to help me obey You, and to do Your Will for the rest of my life. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.

Message.

It has been said that one of the common features of Christianity is the diverse conflict that is targeted at a child of God from the moment of conversion; it presents itself as a permanent companion in the journey of life, and appears to become more intense as you progress in the Christian race.
These conflicts may come in the form of physical, emotional, and spiritual attacks. They could sometimes be manifested as temptations, financial trouble, physical or health challenges, vocational problems, obstacles and obstructions, sickness or death of a loved one, stagnancy, discouragement, failure, depression, and family problems.
Many of these may appear normal, but some are direct attacks on children of God, to hate, despise, persecute, oppress, blackmail, and even kill them. Yet, in the face of such malicious attacks, many Christians have persevered and stood firm in their convictions, with great grace and in defiant faith.
Such people were able to stand in the face of evil, holding on to God’s promises for help. One of such could be found in Hebrews 13:5-6 that says “Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee. So that we may boldly say, The Lord is my helper, and I will not fear what man shall do unto me.”
I pray that as you look up to God for help and assistance today, He will send help to you and you will never be disappointed in Jesus’ name. Like the saints of old, we are expected to build our confidence on the sure promises of God. King David in his affliction said, “My help comes from the Lord, the maker of heaven and earth” (Psalm 121:2) thereby revealing the source of his confidence.
In the above passage, the word of God says, “I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee”. Because of this sure promise of God which can never fail, we may say with confidence that the Lord is our helper, a sure and dependable help in times of trouble. I decree into your life today, God will always be there for you as a reliable ally against all evil attacks in the name of Jesus.
A simple analysis of the statement “I will not fear what man shall do unto me” implies the inevitability of determined evil actions of men, but the Bible is saying that even in the face of such evil threats, we should not become fearful but remain confident, knowing that God will never fail us.
However, there are conditions that a true Christian must meet to guarantee His assistance. We must be free from covetousness, and be satisfied with whatever we have. People with uncontrollable desires for delicacies, designer wears, social status, high offices or positions, and other worldly attractions, are usually a little desperate and unstable.
Such people will do anything, including lowering their Christian standards, in order to retain positions that support their livelihood at all cost. You will not be driven by fear to sell-out your birth right or backslide into error in Jesus’ Name.
The promises of God are perfectly reliable because “God is not a man, that he should lie”, if God be for us, who can be against us? Who is he that will harm you, if ye be followers of that which is good? Our confidence rests absolutely upon the promise of God. Hallelujah.

Prayer Point.

Father, my confidence rests upon Your Holy Word, please be there for me always in Jesus’ name. Amen.

By Whom. Lord. Shall Jacob Arise.
His Friends Are Very Few;
What Is Surprising Is This That
They Are Not In One Accord.

“By Whom, Lord, Shall Jacob Arise?”
His Enemies Are Cruel
They Joy As If They Have Triumphed
And Said, “He Is Finished.”

“By Whom, Lord, Shall Jacob Arise?”
Can Anybody Say?
The Dried Up Branch There On The Ground
Can It Bloom Any More?

O Lord My God, It Is Thy Work
No One Else Can Do It:
Descend Like The Dew On Jacob
And Jacob Shall Arise.

For to him that is joined to all the living there is hope: for a living dog is better than a dead lion.
Ecclesiastes 9:4

Read: Luke 7:11-15
11 And it came to pass the day after, that he went into a city called Nain; and many of his disciples went with him, and much people.
12 Now when he came nigh to the gate of the city, behold, there was a dead man carried out, the only son of his mother, and she was a widow: and much people of the city was with her.
13 And when the Lord saw her, he had compassion on her, and said unto her, Weep not.
14 And he came and touched the bier: and they that bare him stood still. And he said, Young man, I say unto thee, Arise.
15 And he that was dead sat up, and began to speak. And he delivered him to his mother.

It is so awesome to experience God’s favour. One day of God’s favour is better than a lifetime of labour. One of the awesome things that God’s favour delivers to you is unsolicited help. When your day of favour dawns, help will be volunteered to you; you will not be the one asking to be helped; instead, your destiny helpers will offer to help you. In John 5:2-9, we see a man at the pool called Bethesda, who had been there for 38 years. All those who were assisting him when he just got there had all gotten tired and left. He was now on his own. While other people had someone to help them, he had no one to help him (John 5:7). It is a very frustrating experience, when all those who were helping you become fed up of doing so. They can even discourage interested people from being of help to you. In this state of helplessness and hopelessness, his day of favour dawned, as Jesus Christ went through the crowd of sick folks to meet him. When the Lord met him, he offered him healing by asking, “Would you like to be healed?” That very hour, this man went home healed, while others watched in amazement.

Another recipient of volunteered help was the widow of Nain in our Bible reading. Just after she lost her husband, her only son also died. On this fateful day, she was already on her way to the graveyard for her son’s burial. She was not asking for any help. In any case, what help could anyone render to the dead? Yet, Jesus stopped the procession to the graveyard, raised the boy back to life and left, even without being invited. Sometime ago, while rounding up a programme we held at Tafawa Balewa Square, Lagos, God asked me to tell everyone in the congregation to ask for a special gift from him. In that meeting, a particular lady was there. She had trusted God for a husband for years, but she remained single, and now she had attained menopause.

On that blessed day, she said to God, “The time to ask for a husband has passed. Having a husband now has no more meaning. I will just worship you till I die. So there is no need to bother you.” Two weeks later, a brother came to ask her hand in marriage. “You have come to the wrong person. Please go and pray again“, she said. Bewildered, he asked her why. She told him, “I have passed the age of child-bearing. Or don’t you want children?” But to her surprise, he exclaimed, “Glory be to God! You are surely the one I need!” Unknown to her, this man was a widower who already had children. He wanted a mother for his children. They got married, and she got pregnant, eventually being delivered of a set of twin boys. This season, the Lord will volunteer help to you. He will intervene even without being invited.

Action Point

Don’t lose your hope for any reason; but if you do, look up to God and He will restore it.

Fear not, little flock; for it is your Father’s good pleasure to give you the kingdom.
Luke 12:32

Read: Esther 5:1-3
1 Now it came to pass on the third day, that Esther put on her royal apparel, and stood in the inner court of the king’s house, over against the king’s house: and the king sat upon his royal throne in the royal house, over against the gate of the house.
2 And it was so, when the king saw Esther the queen standing in the court, that she obtained favour in his sight: and the king held out to Esther the golden sceptre that was in his hand. So Esther drew near, and touched the top of the sceptre.
3 Then said the king unto her, What wilt thou, queen Esther? and what is thy request? it shall be even given thee to the half of the kingdom.

Isaiah_41-13-1: For I the LORD thy God will hold thy right hand, saying unto thee, Fear not; I will help thee

Message

Hebrews_4-16: Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need. .God's Throne Of Grace

Hebrews_4-16: Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need. .God’s Throne Of Grace

After Esther touched the sceptre of a mere mortal king, death was turned into life for her; how much more will great things happen to those who touch the sceptre of the King of kings. I can assure you that lots of transformational changes await those who can touch the sceptre of the Most High God the Lord Jesus Christ. I was once invited to a Full Gospel Business Men Fellowship meeting in Port Harcourt (South-South Nigeria). I was asked to speak on “The New Anointing“; so I told them what the anointing can do in the life of a man. At the end of the message, virtually everyone wanted to touch the man of God. I had to be smuggled out of the hall where the meeting held. As we drove off, a very desperate woman ran towards the car with her handkerchief and rubbed it against the car and said, “There is power here now“, and she went home. Unknown to her, while she was away, one of her sisters had gone completely insane. It was so serious that it took six men to hold her down. When she got home and saw what was happening, she asked them to make way for her, because she had power in her hands. She simply laid the handkerchief on the girl and she became normal instantly.

In addition, after Esther touched the sceptre, the king asked her, “My queen, what can I do for you?” Normally, when you approach a highly placed individual for a favour, you should be the one to ask for help. But in this case, we see the king volunteering help to Esther. This tells us that when your day of favour dawns, the Almighty God will volunteer to help you. Furthermore, we see that the volunteered assistance was very significant. The king offered to give Esther up to half of his kingdom. If she had asked for it, she would have gotten it.

When your day of favour dawns, God will be ready to grant your request, no matter how big, difficult or how impossible it may sound. This season, the Lord will volunteer to help you. He will give you an open cheque, saying “My child, just ask anything you want and I will do it!” During this season of your favour, your request shall not be grievous to God. Even when you are at a loss over what to ask, the Lord will lead you to ask right by His Spirit.
“Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.”
Romans 8:26

Isaiah 61:5

And strangers shall stand and feed your flocks, and the sons of the alien shall be your plowmen and your vinedressers.

Read: 2 Kings 5:1-4, 10-14

1 Now Naaman, captain of the host of the king of Syria, was a great man with his master, and honourable, because by him the LORD had given deliverance unto Syria: he was also a mighty man in valour, but he was a leper.
2 And the Syrians had gone out by companies, and had brought away captive out of the land of Israel a little maid; and she waited on Naaman’s wife.
3 And she said unto her mistress, Would God my lord were with the prophet that is in Samaria! for he would recover him of his leprosy.
4 And one went in, and told his lord, saying, Thus and thus said the maid that is of the land of Israel.
10 And Elisha sent a messenger unto him, saying, Go and wash in Jordan seven times, and thy flesh shall come again to thee, and thou shalt be clean.
11 But Naaman was wroth, and went away, and said, Behold, I thought, He will surely come out to me, and stand, and call on the name of the LORD his God, and strike his hand over the place, and recover the leper.
12 Are not Abana and Pharpar, rivers of Damascus, better than all the waters of Israel? may I not wash in them, and be clean? So he turned and went away in a rage.
13 And his servants came near, and spake unto him, and said, My father, if the prophet had bid thee do some great thing, wouldest thou not have done it? how much rather then, when he saith to thee, Wash, and be clean?
14 Then went he down, and dipped himself seven times in Jordan, according to the saying of the man of God: and his flesh came again like unto the flesh of a little child, and he was clean.

God had His agenda already set out before the foundation of the world. When the right time comes for Him to unfold a specific plan in His agenda, He looks out for those He can use to achieve His purpose. For example, when the time came for God to accomplish an earlier plan to turn a Syrian army general into a worshipper of Jehovah, God sought the vessel to use, and He found a young captive girl who was serving as a maid in the house of Naaman. She cooperated with God and told Naaman’s wife of a highly anointed prophet of God in Israel who could cure the incurable leprosy that was a blemish upon Naaman’s life.

Isaiah_53-5-1: But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed

Isaiah_53-5-1: But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed

Some other vessels that God used in achieving His purpose concerning Naaman were Naaman’s personal assistants. When they arrived at the front of Elisha’s house, Elisha simply sent his servant to tell Naaman to go and dip seven times in River Jordan and he would be healed. Naaman took offence that the prophet could not even honour him by coming out to talk personally to him. How could the prophet send a servant to him? Besides, he did not like River Jordan at all. Why did the prophet not choose any of the prestigious rivers around? He was angry, and he decided to leave. Had it not been that some of his servants decided to talk frankly with him, making him see the folly of his decision to return home empty-handed, he would have become a victim of his anger. He listened to them, went and dipped in the river and came out whole. When he returned to the prophet, he offered him a gift which he refused.

James_5-16: Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.

James_5-16: Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.

He then requested to carry some of the soil from Israel to his native land to raise an altar to Jehovah there, and he promised to serve the Almighty God going forward. God can use anyone. Are you a housemaid or a houseboy? God can use you. Are you a servant? God can use you. God also used Prophet Elisha. Are you a servant of God? God can use you. One lesson from the maid and the servants is that if you can deal with the problems of fear and intimidation, you can be used by God to help your superiors. Never look down on yourself. Do not say that because you are uneducated, you cannot speak to the educated about Jesus. Use the Pidgin English or vernacular you know to pass across the message of the love of Jesus to others. The help that will move some superiors to their next level lies in the hands of their subordinates. You can be used to assist your superiors. The greatest assistance you can give to those above you is to link them up with Jesus.

Prayer Point

Father, let my ears be open to Your voice coming through my subordinates.

Don’t be afraid to ask others for help

Matthew_7-6: Give not that which is holy unto the dogs, neither cast ye your pearls before swine, lest they trample them under their feet, and turn again and rend you

Matthew_7-6: Give not that which is holy unto the dogs, neither cast ye your pearls before swine, lest they trample them under their feet, and turn again and rend you

Which of you, if his son asks for bread, will give him a stone? Or if he asks for a fish, will give him a snake? If you, then though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in Heaven give good gifts to those who ask Him.Matthew 7:9-11

Are you reluctant to ask for help? You’re definitely not alone. Too many of us are unwilling to admit we need help. We think it’s a sign of weakness. But it’s really a sign of pride and self-sufficiency, both which go against the grain of a healthy dependence upon God and the power of His Holy Spirit in our lives.

God wants to give you good things. He’s hoping you’ll humbly admit that you have needs. Don’t be afraid to ask others for help.  Remember, God made us to relate to one another, to love one another. We weren’t made to live life alone. If you’re “the strong” one that is always lending a hand and seeing to it that others are taken care of, it’s hard for you to let someone know you need help, but it’s important that you do.

“Refusing to ask for help when you need it is refusing someone the chance to be helpful.” – Ric Ocasek
