Speak evil of no one, to be peaceable, gentle, showing all humility to all men

Speak evil of no one, to be peaceable, gentle, showing all humility to all men
-Titus 3:2

Years ago when I was in college, I was a young man running as hard as I could away from God. I was angry – angry at life, angry from disappointments, and working very
hard to feed that empty feeling in my gut with whatever the world had to offer.

During that time, one conversation in particular affected me significantly. I’ll
never forget sitting across the table from a fellow student I’ll call Mike. The
words that poured out of my mouth that day certainly reflected my state of mind.
I don’t get it,” I said, “the hypocrisy of it all. All these people claim to be
Christians, yet they treat each other worse than most atheists I know
.” Mike just
sat there and sipped his coffee as I continued my rant about the many things wrong
with the church, and those who walked through church doors each week. After I had
cooled down just a bit, I finally said to Mike, “Go ahead and tell me I’m wrong.”

Mike just smiled and said, “No, you’re not wrong. Christians can be no better or
worse than anybody else can. They’ve just been forgiven. Whether someone chooses
to let Christ change his or her life is a different question. Some don’t. They tuck
their fire insurance policy in their back pocket and go on with life in whatever
way they please. Then there are the ones who truly take up their crosses and follow
Jesus. They are the lights of the world that Jesus talked about. They stand out.
You see the evidence of that change all over their lives. The fruits of the Spirit
– love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, gentleness, and self-control – permeate
their lives. It doesn’t mean they’re perfect; they just get up each morning hoping
and trying to do what Jesus would have them do, and love the way that Jesus would
have them love.

Then he looked me right in the eye and said, “So, the question is, what kind of
Christian do you want to be? Just forgiven – OR – forgiven AND changed
?”

PRAYER:
Lord Jesus, change me. You said to those who believe in You to take up their crosses
and follow You. Lord Jesus, I’m Yours. Wherever you lead, I will follow. Let all
see the evidence of change in my life because of You. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.

Do you feel forgiven by God? Since asking Jesus to be the Lord of your life, how
have you increased in love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, gentleness, and self-control?

May the LORD bless Nigeria, American and Israel and take care of us; May the LORD make His face shine upon us, And be gracious to us; May the Lord lift up His countenance upon us, And give us peace, In Jesus Christ Name, we pray! Amen!

God is Absolute Truth

A Young Radical

“The Word Of God is alive and powerful. It is sharper than the sharpest two-edged sword….it exposes our innermost thoughts and desires. Nothing in all creation is hidden from God.” (Hebrews 4:12-13)

Many years ago, I was speaking at a large university. A young radical student, who was the head of the Communist Party on campus, confronted me. He railed at me, because I was encouraging students to follow Christ.

Rather than argue, I invited him to come to our home for dinner. After dessert I said, “I want to read something to you from the Bible.” He reacted with obvious irritation. “I have read the Bible from cover to cover,” he exclaimed. “It’s a ridiculous book. It’s filled with contradictions, lies and myths.”

I replied, “If you don’t mind, I will read it anyway.”

I read to him from John, chapter 1: “Before anything else existed, there was Christ, with God. He has always been alive and is Himself God. He created everything there is — nothing exists that He didn’t make. Eternal life is in Him, and this life gives light to all mankind …” (The Living Bible)

When I concluded reading, he said, “Let me see that.” He read it thoughtfully, then handed the Bible back to me without comment.

Then I turned to Colossians, Chapter 1, which records, “Christ is the exact likeness of the unseen God….” (The Living Bible)

He was very sober. After reading a couple of other passages, he was obviously very moved. His entire countenance had changed.

Later, as he stood to leave, I asked him if he would sign our guest book. He penned these words, which I shall never forget: “The night of decision,” a decision to follow Christ.

Your View of God Really Matters …

When someone asks you if you believe if Jesus really is the only way to God, do you duck, argue or do you read (or quote) them Jesus’ very own words from the Bible? Who has greater credibility: you or Jesus? Today, let Jesus speak through you.

What More Does God Say?

Hebrews 4:12-13; Isaiah 55:9-11; Isaiah 40:8; Philippians 1:15-18

Because God is absolute truth, I will believe what He says and live accordingly

Crack Stress Before It Cracks You

Stress Management for IT professionals

Crack Stress Before It Cracks You

Studies confirm that stress not only contributes to weight gain, but also inhibits weight loss. Stress causes a cyclical process of overeating that produces imbalances and spikes in cortisol and insulin. These hormones contribute to fat being stored around the abdomen and hips that produce inflammation, diabetes and heart disease.
The complex and damaging effects of stress impacts weight, hormones, self-confidence and overall health. Stress is inevitable as it is part of our daily lives. The good news is your body knows how to respond to stress, if it’s functioning the way it is designed to. There are many contributing lifestyle factors that improve or inhibit the body’s ability to handle and respond to stress.
It is common for people to say manage stress or stress management, but understand that you personally cannot effectively manage something that your body should have full control of. The same logic applies to disease. You don’t manage disease do you? You manage health.
Disease is something that your body knows how to handle, but through poor lifestyle choices it has succumb to illness. By applying healthier principles of living and lifestyle factors you will improve how your body naturally responds to stress and restore health and healing to your body. Here’s what to do.
Exercise Eliminates Stress?
Exercise is an effective way to maximize your response to negative stress. It will lower cortisol, balance insulin, spike glutathione and trigger hormones that make you happy. Exercise does not “combat” stress or cure it, it simply allows the body to function at a greater level taking care of stress naturally.

Panic, the Response Killer

When you panic and become anxious, your body goes into meltdown mode. If you panic, you’ve lost as anyone that suffers from anxiety, panic attacks, asthma or any other stress related condition fully knows. The secret is not to add additional mental and emotional stress to the situation. By adding this stress, it compounds the problem.
Win or Lose
It has been said that it doesn’t matter if you win or lose; it’s whether you did your very best. You reduce stress by focusing on your current actions versus the end result. If you are doing your very best and you are completing tasks in a systematic manner, you will be closer to your end result. Everything takes time; the more you stress, the less time you have.
Go to Your Happy Place
A prime example is in the movie Happy Gilmore the theme is “go to your happy place”. This may seem ridiculous, but it is very effective to be able to step away and re-focus. This is different for everyone. What is it that you love? Focus on your family, the next vacation, your home, a park or something that satisfies you. The focus on these items calms you, relaxes you and reminds you of what to aspire to.
Your House is on Fire!
If your house is on fire, you need to move out of the house. If you are under a lot of stress, you may need to step out and re-group yourself. Go for a walk, relax and find something that takes you out of the negative environment. The solution is not to ever have stress; it’s to know how to respond to the best of your ability.

Paralyzing Fear

If you fear something, do not run. Fear is a powerful paralyzing stress that wreaks havoc on your entire life and health. Challenging situations, conversations and relationships are there for everyone to grow and learn from. Positive action steps that are into the face of fear will diminish stress and create a victory for you and everyone around you.

The Road Less Travelled

We all need to re-program what obstacles, challenges and seemingly impossible situations mean to success, life and health. Challenges may require effort, but that effort makes you stronger versus weaker. Exercise and working out is a positive stress, it makes you stronger. Instead of looking for the “easy” road, try to find the road less travelled. This pioneering may reveal a whole different life that you never thought was possible.
20/20 Vision
The saying you cannot see the forest from within the trees is very true. If you only focus on one thing that is constantly changing and evolving, you will never win. A business is constantly changing marketing strategies, business models, focus, priorities and if you are only focused on reaching the eventual goal, you will never get there. You will get hit by a car if you are trying to cross the street with binoculars on.
Effective business does have long term goals and plans, but daily action is what will get everyone closer to the eventual goal. The process of success and achieving goals is more important that reaching them. Do your best, forget the rest.

Video Game Disconnect

Our organs such as our heart, lungs and liver can only survive with a connection to the nervous system. Connections give us life and are a necessity in reducing stress and living to our potential. Connect with your family, friends, loved ones, peers and your community. Life and success relies on inter-connectedness. Technology has disconnected many of us through the use of television, video games, email and texting. Today re-connect with someone in person.
Depressed Actions
Stress causes hormonal changes that contribute to depression. Depression causes one to appear lazy, disconnected or bored from an outside viewer. The lack of action causes additional physical and emotional stress that compounds the problem. Combat inactivity with activity and set focus upon the effectiveness of action versus the end results. Happiness is found on the journey of life, not at the destination.
Our mindset plays a significant role in our health, relationships and success. The application of these principles will bring you closer to understanding that life is precious and worth living to your fullest potential. Reducing stress is sometimes not achievable, but you can improve how your body can respond to the stress.
The primary goal of improving mindset, balancing neurology, improving diet, enhancing fitness and eliminating toxins is to prepare the body for it’s best response to whatever life throws at it. A missing component in reducing stress is commonly the mindset of how to best handle daily stress. Your body knows how to respond naturally to stress; it just needs no interference from you.

My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me

The voice inside must always agree with God‘s Word.

John 10:27 “My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me.”

Motives, ambitions and preconceived ideas, can make it difficult for us to recognize God’s voice. All these things can make us hear what we want to hear and not necessarily what God is telling us. It is important to remember, that the voice we hear inside, must always agree with God’s Word.

May the LORD bless Nigeria, American and Israel and take care of us; May the LORD make His face shine upon us, And be gracious to us; May the Lord lift up His countenance upon us, And give us peace, In Jesus Christ Name, we pray! Amen!

As we abide in Christ Jesus and allow His Word to reveal to us His will

John 15:7 says: “If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you.” As we abide in Jesus and allow His Word to reveal to us His will, then we have a foundation of faith. Our faith is not in what we presume, not in what we see, and not in religious practice, but it is in the Word of God. As we stay in Christ and let His Word dwell in us, then His Word fills us with faith. His Word is a revelation of His will; therefore, whatever we ask according to His Word we receive of the Father. Jesus gives us two great secrets to answered prayer.

First, we must be born again, and through Christ Jesus we are.

Second, we must let His Word reveal to us God’s will and fill us with faith. Then when we act on it and ask based on the Word, God gives it and performs it.

Have faith and ask!

May the LORD bless Nigeria, American and Israel and take care of us; May the LORD make His face shine upon us, And be gracious to us; May the Lord lift up His countenance upon us, And give us peace, In Jesus Christ Name, we pray! Amen!

A life filled with love for the Lord and for others is a fulfilling life

READ: Philippians 2:1-4

Let each of you look out not only for his own interests, but also the interests of others. —Philippians 2:4

Harry Tupper is a fishing legend here in Idaho where I live. There’s a spot on Henry’s Lake over on the east side of the state that’s named for him: “Tupper’s Hole.”

The thing I remember most about Harry, aside from his rare ability to catch those huge Henry’s Lake trout, was his dog, Dingo. Now there was a dog! Dingo used to sit alongside Harry in his boat and watch intently while he fished. When the old fisherman hooked a trout, Dingo would bark furiously until the fish was netted and released.

Dingo’s enthusiasm taught me something: It’s better to get more excited about what others are doing than what we are doing.

So, as I read Philippians 2:4 and think about Dingo, I ask myself: Do I spend time thinking about “the interests of others”? Do I get as excited about what God is doing in and through a friend as I do about what He is doing in and through me? Do I long to see others grow in grace and find success, though it may have been my efforts that made them prosper?

This is the measure of greatness, for we are most like God when our thoughts for ourselves are lost in our thoughts for others. Paul said it best: “Let each esteem others better than himself” (2:3). Is that how we live? —David Roper

Love feels the sorrows others feel,
It longs to give support,
And love is quick to take delight
In every good report. —D. De Haan

And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil

VICTORY – A PROVISION

Matthew 6:13, “And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory for ever. Amen.”

MATTHEW 6:9-13

A temptation can be a difficult situation or a pressure. Contrary to popular belief, God is not the source of our temptation (Jas. 1:13). When we are under pressure, it is important to realize that God is not trying to entrap us. Satan is called the tempter (Mt. 4:3; 1 Th. 3:5). Then why did Jesus instruct us to pray that the Father would not lead us into temptation? This was simply a request for guidance so that we could be delivered from evil.

Jesus himself was tempted by Satan (Mt. 4, Lk. 4). He trusted God fully for provision, protection, and purpose. The Father would no more lead us into temptation than He would withhold our daily bread. But as stated in James 4:2, “Ye have not because ye ask not.” Both “give us our daily bread” and “lead us not into temptation” are simply requests for what has already been provided for us. This part of prayer serves as a reminder to us of God’s promised protection (Ps. 91) and gives us an opportunity to release our faith and appropriate what has already been provided.

“No temptation has seized you but such as is common to man. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can stand up under it” (1 Cor. 10:13 NIV). The victory demonstrated by Jesus is available to us. “But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ” (1 Cor. 15:57). He has given it to you. Believe and receive it.

May the LORD bless Nigeria, American and Israel and take care of us; May the LORD make His face shine upon us, And be gracious to us; May the Lord lift up His countenance upon us, And give us peace, In Jesus Christ Name, we pray! Amen!

A Living Soul, God’s Seed

A Living Soul, God‘s Seed

But did He not make them one, having a remnant of the Spirit? And
why one? He seeks godly offspring. Therefore take heed to your
spirit, And let none deal treacherously with the wife of his youth.

Malachi 2:15

God wants His people to marry born-again believers because He seeks
godly seed. It is no accident that my children are called to the
ministry. There is a “generational anointing” that is a crucial
component of God’s plan for man. Tendencies toward alcoholism, drug abuse and witchcraft tend to be passed down from parents to children
for generations (barring supernatural intervention by the power of God,
but this is a dim picture of the true purpose of generational
transference-God wants to pass on the anointing on you and your spouse
to your children, only in greater measure!).

Abortion is another way the enemy tries to steal God’s seed from the
earth. We can create bodies through the reproduction process, but it is
God who puts life in that union. You may say, “A woman has a right to
do what she wants with her own body.”

Yes, she has a right to do what she wants with her body, but when she’s
pregnant, we’re talking not only about her body but also about the body
of somebody else inside hers. A woman’s body is just an incubator that
keeps that new human being warm and fed. That being is a living soul,
and it is God’s seed.

Prayer for Today

Father,
I thank You for being wonderfully made. Thank You for knowing me in my
mother’s womb and for showing me how much You value the life You’ve
created. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Your Word is a lamp to my feet and a light for my path

Follow the Light

Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light for my path.

Psalm 119:105, NIV

In what area of your life do you need illumination? Discouragement about the future and the direction we have chosen, depression over the lack of fulfillment in our lives, or disillusionment by our previous attempts to find meaning for life through organized religions can all plunge us into the darkness. Do you ever wonder,

“What is the meaning to my life?”

“Why is genuine happiness so elusive?”

“Why do I feel guilty?”

“Why do I feel afraid?”

“Is there a God?”

“Is there life after death?”

God’s written Word and the answers we find there turn our darkness into light. God’s Word “is a lamp to my feet and a light for my path.” So . . . follow the light!

Blessings,

May the LORD bless Nigeria, American and Israel and take care of us; May the LORD make His face shine upon us, And be gracious to us; May the Lord lift up His countenance upon us, And give us peace, In Jesus Christ Name, we pray! Amen!

There is not a righteous man on earth who does what is right and never sins

Take Out the Plank

There is not a righteous man on earth who does what is right and never sins.
Ecclesiastes 7:20

When was the last time you knelt and asked God to forgive your sins? Yesterday? Last week? Last month?

Are you in need of forgiveness today?

We live with sin every day. We see it on TV, in movies, in our neighbours, friends, co-workers and family. Sin is usually easy to spot in others, but with all of the exposure we have to sin, we frequently become blinded to our own sin.

You may have told a little white lie to your boss about being sick when you took the day off or accepted more change than you were due when the cashier handed you too much by mistake. Maybe these things didn’t even feel like sin at the time.

Luke 6:42 asks how you can offer to remove a speck from your brother’s eye “When you yourself do not see the plank in your own eye?” We all need to remove any planks in our eyes in order to see clearly.

Right now, ask the Holy Spirit to show you anything you’ve done wrong. Confess these things to God and ask for the forgiveness that can only come from Him through the blood of His Son, Jesus Christ.

God Loves It When You Prosper!

Let them shout for joy, and be glad, that favour my righteous cause:
yea, let them say continually, Let the Lord be magnified, which hath
pleasure in the prosperity of his servant

Psalm 35:27

You may be starting to see that God would allow you to prosper, but you
need to take another step and realize that God is pleased when you
prosper. He enjoys it! You’re His child!

A friend began to speak that the Lord takes pleasure in the prosperity
of His servant over his life, substituting his name for “servant.” He
reported, “I said it all day and all night, and before long the light
came on. God takes pleasure in my prosperity!”

If you’re having a hard time grasping that God wants you to have
abundance, speak this truth over your life every day. The light will
come on, and when it does, the devil had better watch out!
