1 Corinthians 11. Worship and the LORD’s supper. Covering the head in worship

1 Be ye followers of me, even as I also am of Christ. 2 Now I praise you, brethren, that ye remember me in all things, and keep the ordinances, as I delivered them to you. 3 But I would have you know, that the head of every man is Christ; and the head of the woman is the man; and the head of Christ is God. 4 Every man praying or prophesying, having his head covered, dishonoureth his head. 5 But every woman that prayeth or prophesieth with her head uncovered dishonoureth her head: for that is even all one as if she were shaven. 6 For if the woman be not covered, let her also be shorn: but if it be a shame for a woman to be shorn or shaven, let her be covered. 7 For a man indeed ought not to cover his head, forasmuch as he is the image and glory of God: but the woman is the glory of the man. 8 For the man is not of the woman; but the woman of the man. 9 Neither was the man created for the woman; but the woman for the man. 10 For this cause ought the woman to have power on her head because of the angels. 11 Nevertheless neither is the man without the woman, neither the woman without the man, in the Lord. 12 For as the woman is of the man, even so is the man also by the woman; but all things of God. 13 Judge in yourselves: is it comely that a woman pray unto God uncovered? 14 Doth not even nature itself teach you, that, if a man have long hair, it is a shame unto him? 15 But if a woman have long hair, it is a glory to her: for her hair is given her for a covering. 16 But if any man seem to be contentious, we have no such custom, neither the churches of God.

17 Now in this that I declare unto you I praise you not, that ye come together not for the better, but for the worse. 18 For first of all, when ye come together in the church, I hear that there be divisions among you; and I partly believe it. 19 For there must be also heresies among you, that they which are approved may be made manifest among you. 20 When ye come together therefore into one place, this is not to eat the Lord’s supper. 21 For in eating every one taketh before other his own supper: and one is hungry, and another is drunken. 22 What? have ye not houses to eat and to drink in? or despise ye the church of God, and shame them that have not? What shall I say to you? shall I praise you in this? I praise you not.

23 For I have received of the Lord that which also I delivered unto you, That the Lord Jesus the same night in which he was betrayed took bread: 24 And when he had given thanks, he brake it, and said, Take, eat: this is my body, which is broken for you: this do in remembrance of me. 25 After the same manner also he took the cup, when he had supped, saying, This cup is the new testament in my blood: this do ye, as oft as ye drink it, in remembrance of me. 26 For as often as ye eat this bread, and drink this cup, ye do show the Lord’s death till he come. 27 Wherefore whosoever shall eat this bread, and drink this cup of the Lord, unworthily, shall be guilty of the body and blood of the Lord. 28 But let a man examine himself, and so let him eat of that bread, and drink of that cup. 29 For he that eateth and drinketh unworthily, eateth and drinketh damnation to himself, not discerning the Lord’s body. 30 For this cause many are weak and sickly among you, and many sleep. 31 For if we would judge ourselves, we should not be judged. 32 But when we are judged, we are chastened of the Lord, that we should not be condemned with the world. 33 Wherefore, my brethren, when ye come together to eat, tarry one for another. 34 And if any man hunger, let him eat at home; that ye come not together unto condemnation. And the rest will I set in order when I come.

May GOD bless Nigeria, America and Israel and take care of us; May GOD make His face shine upon us, And be gracious to us; May the LORD lift up His countenance upon us, And give us peace, In Jesus Christ Name, we pray! Amen!

Oh, What needless pain we bear all because we do not carry everything to God in prayers

Oh, what needless pain we bear all because we do not carry everything to God in prayers!

Let God help you

It was a cool evening just before the winter sets in. A small boy was kicking his rubber ball all over the place. His father sat nearby enjoying the cool breeze of the evening. Suddenly the ball fell on the roof of a house and got stuck there. The “clever” boy quickly got a long stick with which to dislodge his ball from the roof. However because of his little stature, whenever he was near the house, he could not see the top of the roof. When he moved back to a point where he could see the ball on the roof, he would be too far from the house!

After several futile efforts to reach his ball, the boy in desperation went to meet his Father. With tears in his eyes he appeared to the old man for help. The father looked at him rather sadly and said “Didn’t you see me here all the time? Why do you have to wait till you are tired and frustrated before coming to me for help?”

The boy did not say a word. The father got up and in a moment the ball was again in the boy’s eager hands “Thank you Daddy!” he said. “I hope you have learnt your lesson”, the father replied.

Many of us like the boy in this story, we are true sons and daughters of God, born-again, sanctified, holy living and tongue talking. Yet, we carry our burdens about apparently ignoring the fact that our Father in heaven is more than able to solve all problems. Ephesians 3:20 says “Now unto Him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think according to the power that worketh in us.”

Of course, we know that He is able but we feel we should try our best. After all we are “Strong” and “Wise” and “Experienced”. But, did not 1 Peter 5:7. Says, that we should cast ALL our cares upon Him because He cares for us? If we are to cast all our cares upon Him then why are we still carrying part of the burden ourselves?

Could it be pride or ignorance? Could it be that we really do not trust Him to do good job if we surrender all our plans to Him? But did not Psalm 37:5 encourage us to commit our way unto the Lord, trust Him and that He shall bring it to pass? What about the additional witness of Psalm 55:22 and Proverbs 16:3? “Cast thy burden upon the Lord and He shall sustain thee! He shall never suffer the righteous to be moved” and Commit thy works unto the Lord, and thy thoughts shall be blessed” Are not the Words of God forever settled?

What is it that worries you so much? Is it your health? Has the doctor said, there is no more hope for you? Is that the doctor’s report? Then what about the Lord’s report? Did He not say that He has no pleasure in the death even of a sinner? Did he not ask you, “Why should you die?”

Did he not say, “You shall not die but live and declare the glory of the Lord?” can the dead praise Him? Can those who go down to the grave magnify Him? Is it not the living that can sing praises unto Him? Isaiah 38:18-19. Did He not say that He chose you so that you can praise Him?

Are you barren? Is that your burden? Who made your womb? Is it not Jesus Christ? If anything is wrong with that womb, can He not amend it or replace it? Luke 1:37 says that with God nothing shall be impossible? Is God a liar? Is He not the one who said, “Be fruitful” and remember the case of Lazarus, that he was not only dead but rotten? Did not Jesus raise Him up? Has Jesus change? Did not Hebrew 13:8 says that He is the same yesterday and today and forever?

Is your business giving you some concern? Do you think He does not know about that too? Did not His word say that He wishes ABOVE ALL THINGS that you PROSPER and be in health even as your soul prosper 3 John 2? What do understand by “above all things? Does that not mean that it is the supreme Will of God Almighty that you should prosper? And if God wants you to prosper, how can your business fail? Unless, of course you do not make Him your partner or maybe He is your junior Partner!

Brethren, let God help you. Bring your problems to Jesus and hands off! That song writer said it well:

“What a friend we have in Jesus

All our sins and grieve to bear,

What a privilege to carry,

Everything to God in prayer,

Oh, what peace we often forfeit,

Oh, what needless pain we bear,

All because we do not carry,

Everything to God in prayers!

May God Almighty prosper Nigeria and Israel and defend us from all our enemies in Jesus Christ Name, Amen!

Holy Spirit Can Help You Today

HOLY SPIRIT CAN HELP YOU TODAY

But as many as
received him, to them gave He power to become the sons of God, even to them that
believe on His name (John 1:12).

As Moses was growing up in the house of Pharaoh, he
perceived that he would be Israel’s deliverer and he began to think of how to
accomplish this mission; how to bring his people out of the bondage of slavery.
He got an idea and soon began working on it. He decided to take the Egyptians
out, one by one. He started out and killed the first one. He however didn’t
have the opportunity to kill the next one before trouble came and he had to
escape from Egypt.

It’s possible you’re in the same situation as Moses was. Everything
around you points towards the direction of unfulfilled dream. You want to be successful;
meanwhile everything around you looks bleak. Like Moses, you feel as though you’re
pushed to the wall. The ready solution seems to take matters into your own
hands even if it means defrauding others. I’d like to remind you that true and
lasting riches come from God alone. You can become the dream that God has for
you only through the agency of the Holy Spirit and not by getting involved in
the wrong stuff.

Moses kept going in
circles until he encountered God at the burning bush. It was there that God spoke
to him and corrected his ways. Moses realized that violence wasn’t going to
work and he needed the Lord’s help. Violence can only lead to bondage. Let God
help you today as He did Moses; let Him help you bring the vision of your heart
to reality. Choose to go the supernatural way today. The Lord Jesus is calling
you today, just as He called Simon and his brother, Andrew:”Follow me” He says,
“and I will make you what I’ve chosen
you to be.”

PRAYER

DEAR FATHER, YOUR
WORD IS MY LIGHT BY WHICH I FIND MY WAY. I COMPLETELY TRUST IN THE ABILITY OF
THE WORD TO MAKE ME THE PERSON YOU WANT ME TO BE. I YIELD TO THE TRAINING OF
THE HOLY SPIRIT, IN JESUS CHRIST NAME, AMEN!
