Life has a way of reminding us that no matter how much we plan, control, or strive, death doesn’t follow any schedule.
Just over a year ago, on February 9th, 2024, we lost Herbert Wigwe, the CEO of Access Bank, alongside his wife and eldest son, in a tragic helicopter crash.
On April 10th, 2025, Agustin Escobar, an executive with Siemens died in a similar crash with his wife and three children.
Both of these remarkable men were simply trying to spend quality time with their loved ones, away from their busy lives, but death had other plans.
For the Siemens excutive, the loss is especially painful as he perished with all of his children.
The photo of them smiling, so excited before they boarded, is heart-wrenching. They were filled with joy, unaware that their journey would be their last, and end in Hudson River.
The most heartbreaking part is that the trip was reportedly planned as part of the celebration for his daughter, who would have turned 9 just yesterday.
Herbert Wigwe, too, was headed to the Super Bowl, another short flight that tragically turned into forever. It reminds me of Kobe Bryant, who also died with his daughter in 2021.
No one should have to face death that way, with so much unfinished, so many dreams still intact.
Let this be a reminder to us all: live fully, live kindly, and do right by others, because we never know when our time might come.
These men, and their families, have now become part of the statistics in the cemetary: a place where we find the richest, most brilliant souls of the world.
People like Myles Munroe who also died in a similar manner in 2014 with his wife.
We must live with a deeper consciousness of humanity. No one knows what tomorrow holds, but the power we have today is only meaningful while we are alive.
Let’s be the reason others believe kind people still exist.
Let’s lead with compassion, not just ambition.
Let’s choose presence over pressure, and love over legacy.
Because love over legacy means choosing people over performance, and connection over recognition. Titles fade, but the way we made others feel, the love we shared; that’s what truly lives on.
May these incredible men rest in peace.
Thank You Jesus,
Salvation Prayers
If you don’t Know Jesus as your personal Lord and Saviour and would like to accept him into your life as your personal Lord and Saviour, Please say this prayer:
Father, I know that I have broken your laws and my sins have separated me from You. I am truly sorry, and now I want to turn away from my past sinful life toward You. Please forgive me, and help me avoid sinning again. I believe that Your son, Jesus Christ died for my sins, was resurrected from the dead, is alive, and hears my prayer. I invite Jesus to become the Lord of my life, to rule and reign in my heart from this day forward. Please send Your Holy Spirit to help me obey You, and to do Your Will for the rest of my life. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.
