God’s Forgiveness

Forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.

Matthew 6:12, NKJV

Jesus, the Lamb of God, God’s own Son, was sacrificed on the altar of a wooden Roman cross.

Normally, crucifixion victims cursed and screamed obscenities and even passed into unconsciousness from the initial pain. Jesus reacted in a stunningly different way – He prayed, “Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing” (Luke 23:34, NIV). Fifty days later when Peter preached at Pentecost, Jesus’ prayer was answered when some of the very men who crucified Him repented of their sins, placed their faith in Him, and were baptized in His Name!

If God could forgive the men who nailed His Son to the Cross, why do you think He won’t forgive you?

Trust God‘s Goodness

He will wipe every tear from their eyes.

Revelation 21:4, NIV

One day God will call us forth from the dead, and we will rise again! Praise God! Praise God! Praise God! All of our suffering will be over, and God Himself “‘will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.’ He who was seated on the throne said . . . , ‘Write this down, for these words are trustworthy and true'” (Rev. 21:4-5, NIV).

When you don’t understand why, just trust Him!

Trust His heart! Trust His purpose!

Trust His goodness!

Trust His plan to be bigger than yours!

Trust Him because . . . God is enough

May GOD bless Nigeria, America and Israel and take care of us; May GOD make His face shine upon us, And be gracious to us; May the LORD lift up His countenance upon us, And give us peace, In Jesus Christ Name, we pray! Amen!

God Is Working Out His Plan for You

“I make known the end from the beginning.”

Isaiah 46:10 NIV
God Is Working Out His Plan for You
You are not a mistake your parents made in the heat of passion. What your parents did may have been illegitimate, but you are not. You may wonder: “God, is it possible that You have a reason for my conception? Am I called to do something great in life? Is there something so unique to my personality, so connected to my life experiences, so relative to my sphere of influence, so dependent upon my colour and culture, so necessary to my needs and shortcomings that nobody can do it exactly the way You want it done but me?” Yes.
God says, “’I make known the end from the beginning…My purpose will stand.’” You are going to succeed because God has already determined your destiny. Before God establishes the procedure, He decides the purpose. When a builder is confused he refers back to the blueprint and checks with the architect. God is the architect and builder of your life. He never gets confused about what He’s planned or how it’s to be built. When He builds something, it’s built for maximum efficiency and optimal performance. We think, “Lord, why are You holding me back while others get to go forward? Why is it taking so long for my breakthrough to come?” God responds, “What does the blueprint say?” God is building a solid foundation under you so that you’ll be able to handle the pressures that accompany His blessing, and go through the storms of life without being moved or shaken. Anything that’s made well is made slowly. Anything that’s worth having is worth fighting for.

Carrying the Cross

“Anyone who does not carry his cross and follow me cannot be my disciple.”

Luke 14:27, NIV

Imagine what it would have been like to be Simon, and to have carried the Cross of Christ while following Him up Calvary.

What would it have been like to have shared in the humiliation of rejection as He was cast out of the city?

What would it have been like to have felt the sticky warmth of His blood from the Cross on your skin?

What would it have been like to have felt the encroaching horror as the place of execution neared?

What would it have been like to have looked up through the sweat that trickled down your face, and seen the executioners who stood waiting impassively with hammers in hand?

What would it have been like to have the burden of the Cross

lifted from your back as someone said, “This is His Cross; you’re free to go now,” and He was nailed to it, not you?

Thank You Jesus

Thank Him Now!

He was pierced for our transgressions, He was crushed for our iniquities.

Isaiah 53:5, NIV

Perhaps thinking to satisfy the crowd’s thirst for blood without actually going so far as to execute Jesus, Pilate had Him flogged. The flogging would have ripped the flesh off of His back, exposing His internal organs. History records that flogging victims either passed into unconsciousness, went insane, or died. The miracle is not that Jesus survived the whipping, but that He submitted to it! How easy it would have been for Him to defy them and, without cursing but in righteous judgment, send them all to hell!

Why? Why would God allow His Son to endure such physical torture? The answer had been given years earlier, when Isaiah solemnly prophesied, “Surely He took up our infirmities and carried our sorrows. . . . He was pierced for our transgressions, He was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was upon Him, and by His wounds we are healed” (Isa. 53:4-5, NIV). Hallelujah!

Thank Him now for bearing God’s judgment that should have been ours!

Share your faith now! Somebody needs it

“Then I will teach transgressors your ways.” (Psalm 51:13 (NIV).

John was hitchhiking home when he was picked up by Mr. Patrick. As they drove towards Lagos from Ibadan, John felt God urging him to share his faith. When he overcame his fear and asked the man if he would like to receive Christ, Mr. Patrick stopped, weeping, he bowed his head and received Christ. “This is the greatest thing that has ever happened to me,” he said

Shortly afterwards he dropped John at his house at Mowe and went on to Lagos, which was about an hour down the road.

Years later, while preparing for a business trip to Lagos, John came across the gold-embossed business card Mr. Patrick had given him years earlier. When he arrived in Lagos he decided to look up De Patricko Enterprises and found it located in a skyscraper in Marina. When he asked the receptionist if he could see Mr. Patrick, she said, “No, but his wife is here.”

You knew my husband?” the woman in her 50’s asked.

John explained that her husband had given him a ride and how he’d led him to Christ.

When was that?” she asked.

May 7th, five years ago, the day I was discharged from the army.”

She began to sob.

After several minutes she regained control and said, “I prayed for my husband’s salvation for years, believing God would save him. But right after he let you out of his car, on May 7th, he was killed in a head-on collision. I thought God had not answered my prayer, and I stopped living for Him five years ago.

That day she recommitted her life to Christ.

Power to be Holy

Power to be Holy

God is all powerful

“So I say, let the Holy Spirit guide your lives. Then you won’t be doing what your sinful nature craves.” (Galatians 5:16)

I like to compare the Christian battle against sin to an individual swimming upstream against a surging current. His progress is slow and tortuous; he is constantly swept backward by powerful undercurrents. Hovering near the swimmer is a speedboat with a powerful motor. He can continue to try to swim upstream or he can choose to climb aboard the speedboat, which can easily whisk him up the river.

We have a similar choice. When battling evil spiritual forces, worldly influences, and our own fleshly temptations, we can either fail miserably by fighting temptation in our own efforts or defeat that sin-current that drags us down by living in the unlimited power of the Holy Spirit.

Peter explains, “By His divine power, God has given us everything we need for living a godly life. We have received all of this by coming to know Him, the One who called us to Himself by means of His marvelous glory and excellence. “ (2 Peter 1:3) We do not have to clean up our messy lives before we invite God in; rather we appropriate God’s holiness through His Holy Spirit living His life within us.

The Scriptures assure us “that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us. And if we know that He hears us—whatever we ask—we know that we have what we asked of Him.” (I John 5:14-15 NIV)

We can become holy vessels of the all-powerful God by committing to live holy lives through being filled with the power of the Holy Spirit.

Your View of God Really Matters …

Are you tired of struggling to live the Christian life? Get in the boat! Let God’s awesome Spirit live through you every moment of every day. Then, and only then, will you have the power to live in obedience and joy.

God The Grand Architect

David's Joy Over Forgiveness; as in Psalm 32; ...

God The Grand Architect

“Your Workmanship Is Marvelous.” (Psalm 139:14)

When I tour an historic mansion and scrutinize the building’s details – the quality, design, and decor – I can draw some conclusions about its builder. Is the foundation strong? Are the walls and floors plumb and square? How well are the most intricate details constructed? Does the design flow from one room to another?

We live on a grand estate called Earth. As we look at the beauty and intricacies of our residence, we marvel at the genius of the design. When we gaze up into the heavens, we are overcome with awe at the vastness of what our Creator has brought into being. In one of the most beautiful passages in the Bible, King David describes how nature testifies to the power of God: “The heavens proclaim the glory of God. The skies display His craftsmanship. Day after day they continue to speak; night after night they make Him known. They speak without a sound or word; their voice is never heard. Yet their message has gone throughout the earth, and their words to all the world.” (Psalm 19:1-4, NIV)

To get just a small idea of God’s creative power, let us consider our corner of the universe. We live on one of nine planets that revolve around the sun. As the dominant light of our solar system, our sun gives off far more energy in one second than all mankind has produced since creation. With a diameter of approximately 860,000 miles, the sun could hold one million planets the size of the Earth. Yet our sun is only an average-size star.

How comforting it is to know that the God of creation is concerned with my well-being. There is no greater power!

Your View of God Really Matters …

On the next clear, starry night, go outside, gaze upward at God’s heavens, and worship Him for marvellous His power and wisdom. Tell Him how much you love Him. Listen for His voice in your heart.

God’s Comfort

God‘s Comfort

God Of All comfort

Blessed be the . . . God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our tribulation.

2 Corinthians 1:3-4, NIV

How could Mary bear to watch her Son tortured? Yet how could she tear herself away?

Her entire body must have quivered as though from an electric shock as she heard Jesus calling to her from the Cross. Surely her breath caught as she strained to hear His words, yet He spoke clearly, “‘Dear woman, here is your son,’ and to the disciple [John], ‘Here is your mother.’ From that time on, this disciple took her into his home” (John 19:26-27, NIV). And somehow, even with the horror of the scene before her, and the weight of agony pressing against her chest, she knew everything was going to be all right. She didn’t understand, but in the midst of the anguish only a mother knows as her heart is shattered by the pain of her child, a quiet peace must have stolen its way within when God spoke directly and personally to her from the Cross. God had singled her out, He had noticed her, He had cared for her, and she was comforted.
