1 Samuel 31. The death of Saul and his sons

1 Now the Philistines fought against Israel: and the men of Israel fled from before the Philistines, and fell down slain in mount Gilboa. 2 And the Philistines followed hard upon Saul and upon his sons; and the Philistines slew Jonathan, and Abinadab, and Melchishua, Saul’s sons. 3 And the battle went sore against Saul, and the archers hit him; and he was sore wounded of the archers. 4 Then said Saul unto his armourbearer, Draw thy sword, and thrust me through therewith; lest these uncircumcised come and thrust me through, and abuse me. But his armourbearer would not; for he was sore afraid. Therefore Saul took a sword, and fell upon it. 5 And when his armourbearer saw that Saul was dead, he fell likewise upon his sword, and died with him. 6 So Saul died, and his three sons, and his armourbearer, and all his men, that same day together. 7 And when the men of Israel that were on the other side of the valley, and they that were on the other side Jordan, saw that the men of Israel fled, and that Saul and his sons were dead, they forsook the cities, and fled; and the Philistines came and dwelt in them.

8 And it came to pass on the morrow, when the Philistines came to strip the slain, that they found Saul and his three sons fallen in mount Gilboa. 9 And they cut off his head, and stripped off his armour, and sent into the land of the Philistines round about, to publish it in the house of their idols, and among the people. 10 And they put his armour in the house of Ashtaroth: and they fastened his body to the wall of Bethshan. 11 And when the inhabitants of Jabeshgilead heard of that which the Philistines had done to Saul; 12 All the valiant men arose, and went all night, and took the body of Saul and the bodies of his sons from the wall of Bethshan, and came to Jabesh, and burnt them there. 13 And they took their bones, and buried them under a tree at Jabesh, and fasted seven days.

May GOD bless Nigeria, America and Israel and take care of us; May GOD make His face shine upon us, And be gracious to us; May the LORD lift up His countenance upon us, And give us peace, In Jesus Christ Name, we pray! Amen!

May the grace the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all. Amen

1 Samuel 22. Saul kills the priests of Nob

1 Samuel 22. Saul kills the priests of Nob

1 David therefore departed thence, and escaped to the cave Adullam: and when his brethren and all his father’s house heard it, they went down thither to him. 2 And every one that was in distress, and every one that was in debt, and every one that was discontented, gathered themselves unto him; and he became a captain over them: and there were with him about four hundred men. 3 And David went thence to Mizpeh of Moab: and he said unto the king of Moab, Let my father and my mother, I pray thee, come forth, and be with you, till I know what God will do for me. 4 And he brought them before the king of Moab: and they dwelt with him all the while that David was in the hold. 5 And the prophet Gad said unto David, Abide not in the hold; depart, and get thee into the land of Judah. Then David departed, and came into the forest of Hareth.

6 When Saul heard that David was discovered, and the men that were with him, (now Saul abode in Gibeah under a tree in Ramah, having his spear in his hand, and all his servants were standing about him;) 7 Then Saul said unto his servants that stood about him, Hear now, ye Benjamites; will the son of Jesse give every one of you fields and vineyards, and make you all captains of thousands, and captains of hundreds; 8 That all of you have conspired against me, and there is none that showeth me that my son hath made a league with the son of Jesse, and there is none of you that is sorry for me, or showeth unto me that my son hath stirred up my servant against me, to lie in wait, as at this day? 9 Then answered Doeg the Edomite, which was set over the servants of Saul, and said, I saw the son of Jesse coming to Nob, to Ahimelech the son of Ahitub. 10 And he inquired of the LORD for him, and gave him victuals, and gave him the sword of Goliath the Philistine. 11 Then the king sent to call Ahimelech the priest, the son of Ahitub, and all his father’s house, the priests that were in Nob: and they came all of them to the king. 12 And Saul said, Hear now, thou son of Ahitub. And he answered, Here I am, my lord. 13 And Saul said unto him, Why have ye conspired against me, thou and the son of Jesse, in that thou hast given him bread, and a sword, and hast inquired of God for him, that he should rise against me, to lie in wait, as at this day? 14 Then Ahimelech answered the king, and said, And who is so faithful among all thy servants as David, which is the king’s son in law, and goeth at thy bidding, and is honourable in thine house? 15 Did I then begin to inquire of God for him? be it far from me: let not the king impute any thing unto his servant, nor to all the house of my father: for thy servant knew nothing of all this, less or more. 16 And the king said, Thou shalt surely die, Ahimelech, thou, and all thy father’s house. 17 And the king said unto the footmen that stood about him, Turn, and slay the priests of the LORD; because their hand also is with David, and because they knew when he fled, and did not show it to me. But the servants of the king would not put forth their hand to fall upon the priests of the LORD. 18 And the king said to Doeg, Turn thou, and fall upon the priests. And Doeg the Edomite turned, and he fell upon the priests, and slew on that day fourscore and five persons that did wear a linen ephod. 19 And Nob, the city of the priests, smote he with the edge of the sword, both men and women, children and sucklings, and oxen, and asses, and sheep, with the edge of the sword.

20 And one of the sons of Ahimelech the son of Ahitub, named Abiathar, escaped, and fled after David. 21 And Abiathar showed David that Saul had slain the LORD’S priests. 22 And David said unto Abiathar, I knew it that day, when Doeg the Edomite was there, that he would surely tell Saul: I have occasioned the death of all the persons of thy father’s house. 23 Abide thou with me, fear not: for he that seeketh my life seeketh thy life: but with me thou shalt be in safeguard.

If your marriage is breaking down, let me tell you this, most likely, you are putting your demands on your husband to supply you what only Jesus Christ can give, or you are looking to your wife to give you what you should get only from Christ Jesus. You end up over pressurizing each other. Every marriage needs a “third party”. His name is Jesus Christ. He must be in the midst of every marriage.

God does not keep a record of your sins

God does not keep a record of your sins

Hebrews 8:8-12

“….Behold, the days are coming, says the LORD, when I will make a new covenant…….not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day when I took them by the hand to lead them out of the land of Egypt……..for this is the covenant that I will make….I will put My laws in their mind and write them on their hearts; I will be their God, they shall be My people…. For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins and their lawless deeds I will remember no more”

Memorize this, beloved, for this is the main and final clause of the new covenant!

Only the devil, you yourself and the people around you will bring your sins to your remembrance. So when you are weighed down by the mistakes of your past, run to God and lean on His grace! Why? For He will be merciful to your unrighteousness, and your sins and your lawless deeds He will remember no more.

This is the main clause of the new covenant of grace!

Amen

1 Samuel 21. David flees from saul

1 Samuel 21. David flees from saul

1 Then came David to Nob to Ahimelech the priest: and Ahimelech was afraid at the meeting of David, and said unto him, Why art thou alone, and no man with thee? 2 And David said unto Ahimelech the priest, The king hath commanded me a business, and hath said unto me, Let no man know any thing of the business whereabout I send thee, and what I have commanded thee: and I have appointed my servants to such and such a place. 3 Now therefore what is under thine hand? give me five loaves of bread in mine hand, or what there is present. 4 And the priest answered David, and said, There is no common bread under mine hand, but there is hallowed bread; if the young men have kept themselves at least from women. 5 And David answered the priest, and said unto him, Of a truth women have been kept from us about these three days, since I came out, and the vessels of the young men are holy, and the bread is in a manner common, yea, though it were sanctified this day in the vessel. 6 So the priest gave him hallowed bread: for there was no bread there but the showbread, that was taken from before the LORD, to put hot bread in the day when it was taken away. 7 Now a certain man of the servants of Saul was there that day, detained before the LORD; and his name was Doeg, an Edomite, the chiefest of the herdmen that belonged to Saul. 8 And David said unto Ahimelech, And is there not here under thine hand spear or sword? for I have neither brought my sword nor my weapons with me, because the king’s business required haste. 9 And the priest said, The sword of Goliath the Philistine, whom thou slewest in the valley of Elah, behold, it is here wrapped in a cloth behind the ephod: if thou wilt take that, take it: for there is no other save that here. And David said, There is none like that; give it me.

10 And David arose, and fled that day for fear of Saul, and went to Achish the king of Gath. 11 And the servants of Achish said unto him, Is not this David the king of the land? did they not sing one to another of him in dances, saying, Saul hath slain his thousands, and David his ten thousands? 12 And David laid up these words in his heart, and was sore afraid of Achish the king of Gath. 13 And he changed his behaviour before them, and feigned himself mad in their hands, and scrabbled on the doors of the gate, and let his spittle fall down upon his beard. 14 Then said Achish unto his servants, Lo, ye see the man is mad: wherefore then have ye brought him to me? 15 Have I need of mad men, that ye have brought this fellow to play the mad man in my presence? shall this fellow come into my house?

May GOD bless Nigeria, America and Israel and take care of us; May GOD make His face shine upon us, And be gracious to us; May the LORD lift up His countenance upon us, And give us peace, In Jesus Christ Name, we pray! Amen!

Obeying God’s Instructions

Obeying God‘s Instructions

by Pastor Andre Butler

And Elijah the Tishbite, who was of the inhabitants of Gilead, said unto Ahab, “As the Lord God of Israel liveth, before whom I stand, there shall not be dew nor rain these years, but according to my word.” And the word of the Lord came unto him, saying, “Get thee hence and turn thee eastward, and hide thyself by the brook Cherith, that is before Jordan.” And it shall be [when you’ve done what I’ve told you to do], that thou shalt drink of the brook; and I have commanded the ravens to feed thee there-

1 Kings 17:1-4

God’s ability to get wealth to you is dependent upon your obedience to Him, even on the receiving end. God prepared a miracle for Elijah, but God gave him very specific instructions: get out of here, go east, and hide by the brook Cherith. Only God could have gotten provisions to Elijah in the middle of a famine. Cherith may have been the only brook with water left. Only God could have known that.

Sometimes people think that wealth and blessings will only get to them when God uses other people to put money in their hands. No, God may put an idea, concept, or insight in your heart as a vehicle to get the money to you. If you know the idea is from Him, ask him what the next step is, and take that step. Obedience is the master key to receiving God’s will.

Amen

God doesn’t want any to perish, but all to come to repentance

God doesn’t want any to perish, but all to come to repentance

This Is War!

Who is this King of glory? The Lord strong and mighty, the Lord mighty in battle.

Psalm 24:8

There is a wicked war raging between heaven and hell. The battleground is the mind of man. The spoil of war is your soul. No one is exempt from this conflict. Perhaps this simple acrostic teaching on the word “war” will help you in the fight.

Warning signs—God doesn’t want any to perish, but all to come to repentance. He was grieved that He had ever made man on the face of the earth, yet He warned Noah, though no one else believed. God sent angels to bring Lot and his family from Sodom just before its violent destruction. Likewise, the Lord sends His messengers to warn you.

Attack—From the time we are born there are at least three things against us at all times. The world, with temptation all around; the flesh, full of our own selfish cravings; and the devil, who is subtle, slanderous, fierce and deceitful. Some have not heeded the warning signs and have ended up in the midst of a full-fledged attack.

Refuge—A refuge is a shelter or protection from danger. To Noah, God sent the ark. To sinners, God sent Jesus Christ, His only Son. Jesus is our shelter in the storm. He is our Rock, our mighty fortress!

Yes, there is a spiritual war raging. I thank God for the battle—it keeps me alert. Always remember: “The Lord your God is the one who goes with you, to fight for you against your enemies, to save you” (Deuteronomy 20:4, NASB).

Leviticus 25; Psalms 32;

Ecclesiastes 8; 2 Timothy 4

May GOD bless Nigeria, America and Israel and take care of us; May GOD make His face shine upon us, And be gracious to us; May the LORD lift up His countenance upon us, And give us peace, In Jesus Christ Name, we pray! Amen!

May the grace the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all. Amen!

Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world. 1 John 4:4

You are an overcomer

Not only has Jesus overcome the world, but so have you.  You are God’s workmanship,

and have His spirit living within you. The force, the strength, the might, and the

spirit that lives within you is greater than anything that the enemy will try to

use against you.

Stand straight! Stand tall! Confidently face each day knowing that you are participating

in a “fixed” fight.  The outcome has already been decided – you win! Face your enemy

like the champion you are. You know the end of the story, and you have overcome! Hallelujah! Amen!

whenever troubles come your way, consider it an opportunity for great joy

Whenever troubles come your way, consider it an opportunity for great joy

(James 1:2)

Have you ever looked upon trouble as a time for joy? This is not foolishness but the deepest kind of wisdom. This joyful perspective is the very key to persevering and growing in wisdom during times of affliction.

It has been said that we as Christians are like tea bags: we are not much good until we have gone through a bit of hot water. When the temperature rises, we learn something about ourselves and about God. We find out that we need a little seasoning, and that He is steadfast and faithful in our trials. Can you trust God? I must tell you that you can, but your faith will never be real until you are forced, through circumstances, to place all your trust in Him.

When I was sick and told there was no hope of recovery God filled me with His peace. In fact, after I received the news that the world would consider terrible God actually gave me some of the greatest opportunities I have ever encountered. I had more time to devote to my books and to numerous other projects that I could not have done in my previous busy schedule.

Our loving God is so creative and resourceful. Where we see limitations, He sees unlimited opportunity. He finds great joy in bringing the greatest miracles from the harshest conditions.

Are you going through a time of trouble? Your view of God will determine whether you also experience real joy and peace in the midst of your pain. If you really believe in your heart that God is faithful, then you can trust Him to give you His joy and peace just as He promised.

Amen!

Never give up

Česky: Kříže - symbol utrpení Ježíše Krista a ...

Never give up

In the morning sow thy seed, and in the evening withhold not thine hand: for thou knowest not whether shall prosper, either this or that, or whether they both shall be alike good (Ecclesiastes 11:6).

There are people, who perhaps started out on a business venture that seemed profitable and were excited about it at the initial stage, however, two or three months down the line, challenges set in and it didn’t seem like the venture was making as much progress as they’d expected and as a result they gave up the business. They should have stayed with it!

Possibly, you’re in a similar situation today; you’re at the verge of giving up something you started. My counsel to you is, stay with it and believe in your progress! Keep at it, and don’t give up. The Bible says, “…whatsoever you do shall prosper” (Psalm 1:3). Notice it didn’t say “some of the things you do shall prosper”, but all! Praise God. The hand of God is upon that idea, job or business of yours and will cause it to make progress and move forward. If you believe this, then you won’t give up, irrespective of the seemingly unprofitable circumstances.

If you find yourself experiencing challenges in any area of your job or business for instance, go back to the Word of God. It says, “In all labour there is profit.”  Whatever the challenges are, the Word of God will show you what to do. Even if you had mismanaged the business, there’s the appropriate Word from God to teach you how to be a better manager. Remember, God’s Word remains the best book on success and prosperity.

Therefore, in everything you do, never give up hope. Only make certain to follow God’s Word and practise what it says. That way, your progress, advancement, success, and profiting will not only appear to all but will be unending. Hallelujah!

Amen!

I know that my Redeemer lives

Česky: Kříže - symbol utrpení Ježíše Krista a ...

I know that my Redeemer liveth.

Job 19:25

The marrow of Job’s comfort lies in that little word “My”-“My Redeemer,” and in the fact that the Redeemer lives. Oh! To get hold of a living Christ. We must get a property in Him before we can enjoy Him. What is gold in the mine to me? Men are beggars in Peru, and beg their bread in California. It is gold in my purse which will satisfy my necessities, by purchasing the bread I need. So a Redeemer who does not redeem me, an avenger who will never stand up for my blood, of what avail were such? Rest not content until by faith you can say “Yes, I cast myself upon my living Lord; and He is mine.” It may be you hold Him with a feeble hand; you half think it presumption to say, “He lives as my Redeemer;” yet, remember if you have but faith as a grain of mustard seed, that little faith entitles you to say it. But there is also another word here, expressive of Job’s strong confidence, “I know.” To say, “I hope so, I trust so” is comfortable; and there are thousands in the fold of Jesus who hardly ever get much further. But to reach the essence of consolation you must say, “I know.” Ifs, buts, and perhapses, are sure murderers of peace and comfort. Doubts are dreary things in times of sorrow. Like wasps they sting the soul! If I have any suspicion that Christ is not mine, then there is vinegar mingled with the gall of death; but if I know that Jesus lives for me, then darkness is not dark: even the night is light about me. Surely if Job, in those ages before the coming and advent of Christ, could say, “I know,” we should not speak less positively. God forbid that our positiveness should be presumption. Let us see that our evidences are right, lest we build upon an ungrounded hope; and then let us not be satisfied with the mere foundation, for it is from the upper rooms that we get the widest prospect. A living Redeemer, truly mine, is joy unspeakable.

Amen!

For When You Feel Alone By Samantha Evilsizer

“As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you. Abide in my love. If you keep my commandments, you will abide in my love, just as I have kept my Father’s commandments and abide in his love.” John 15:9-10 (ESV)

Miss Emma‘s wrinkled hands cupped my chin—her palm a reservoir for my tears. I walked down the hallways saying tearless goodbyes to 119 other residents, and yet my farewell with her released a levy of emotions.

The scattered pieces of my heart felt like they were blown about by the scurrying of nurses’ footsteps and doctors’ orders resounding off the walls of the nursing home.

It felt wrong to leave her alone, forsaken in this dark place.

Her family, or lack thereof, had rendered her anchorless; adrift in the lonely sea of a 120 bed facility. A drab place where my Activities Department team and I were brought in to dispel the dreariness. My job at “The Brick” would have been more bleak if not for Miss Emma and a few others.

I didn’t allow many details of this place to sink in further than the surface of my heart. Stories repeated ten times each day rolled off my back. Routines of medicine and meals and the wandering of hallways became mundane tasks. Yet one name, one person, chiseled deep into my heart: Miss Emma.

I perched on the edge of our goodbye, on the edge of her bed, hesitant to leave her. “Who’ll sit in the sunshine with you? Who’ll listen? Who’ll sing hymns with you?”

Worry wrung my heart. Visions of Miss Emma, alone … lonely … made my jaw tense and ache with pain for her. A square punch by sadness will do that to a girl.

But not her. Beautiful brown saucers brimmed with confidence. I waded in the refreshing waters of her eyes, rich pools of wisdom.

“I’ll be fine sugar … I’m never alone. Don’t you realize the One who created the sun sits with me? He listens always, hearing my prayers and needs. His presence is in the very praises we sing to Him. Child, we’re never alone.”

Tucked away from the world, Miss Emma changed mine. She lived tightly knit to the Vine. Abided in Jesus’ love through His Word and worship and prayer. Miss Emma dwelled in this truth:

Christ beside me, Christ before me,

Christ behind me, Christ within me,

Christ beneath me, Christ above me. ~St. Patrick

Though abandoned by her earthly family, she rested in the knowledge that her Heavenly Father never would leave her. Indeed, He made a home in her so she could nestle in Him.

Her solid assurance lifted my chin, calmed my heart. The strength she found in the truth that Christ never leaves us left a lasting impression on me. I began looking for ways He was with me: by giving me the wisdom to hold my tongue, or helping me sleep at night, or steadying me when anxious.

Might we find hope in Him today as well? Curl up in His love by writing a Scripture verse on our heart. Lean into God‘s sure presence through lifting our voice in praise. Abide in His peace with a time of prayer … sharing and listening.

Christ is within us, before us, behind us. And as Miss Emma so confidently knew, He will never leave or forsake us. We’re never alone.

Dear Lord, thank You for calling us Your children. And for making a home within us, so we may rest secure in You. Because You are our dwelling place, we are never alone. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

Amen!

Do you believe in miracles?

We serve a God of miracles. A miracle is the supernatural intervention of God in the problems of our lives. By believing in the power of God, you have nothing to lose and everything to gain.

At some point in our lives, we will either be forced to live in the potential of our faith in God, or with the consequences of our doubts.

“Jesus said unto him, if thou canst believe, all things are possible to him that believeth” Mark 9:23

Amen!

1 Samuel 13. Isreal in distress. War against the Philistines

Jonathan at Michmash

1 Samuel 13. Isreal in distress. War against the Philistines

1 Saul reigned one year; and when he had reigned two years over Israel, 2 Saul chose him three thousand men of Israel; whereof two thousand were with Saul in Michmash and in mount Bethel, and a thousand were with Jonathan in Gibeah of Benjamin: and the rest of the people he sent every man to his tent. 3 And Jonathan smote the garrison of the Philistines that was in Geba, and the Philistines heard of it. And Saul blew the trumpet throughout all the land, saying, Let the Hebrews hear. 4 And all Israel heard say that Saul had smitten a garrison of the Philistines, and that Israel also was had in abomination with the Philistines. And the people were called together after Saul to Gilgal. 5 And the Philistines gathered themselves together to fight with Israel, thirty thousand chariots, and six thousand horsemen, and people as the sand which is on the sea shore in multitude: and they came up, and pitched in Michmash, eastward from Bethaven. 6 When the men of Israel saw that they were in a strait, (for the people were distressed,) then the people did hide themselves in caves, and in thickets, and in rocks, and in high places, and in pits. 7 And some of the Hebrews went over Jordan to the land of Gad and Gilead. As for Saul, he was yet in Gilgal, and all the people followed him trembling.

8 And he tarried seven days, according to the set time that Samuel had appointed: but Samuel came not to Gilgal; and the people were scattered from him. 9 And Saul said, Bring hither a burnt offering to me, and peace offerings. And he offered the burnt offering. 10 And it came to pass, that as soon as he had made an end of offering the burnt offering, behold, Samuel came; and Saul went out to meet him, that he might salute him. 11 And Samuel said, What hast thou done? And Saul said, Because I saw that the people were scattered from me, and that thou camest not within the days appointed, and that the Philistines gathered themselves together at Michmash; 12 Therefore said I, The Philistines will come down now upon me to Gilgal, and I have not made supplication unto the LORD: I forced myself therefore, and offered a burnt offering. 13 And Samuel said to Saul, Thou hast done foolishly: thou hast not kept the commandment of the LORD thy God, which he commanded thee: for now would the LORD have established thy kingdom upon Israel for ever. 14 But now thy kingdom shall not continue: the LORD hath sought him a man after his own heart, and the LORD hath commanded him to be captain over his people, because thou hast not kept that which the LORD commanded thee.

15 And Samuel arose, and gat him up from Gilgal unto Gibeah of Benjamin. And Saul numbered the people that were present with him, about six hundred men. 16 And Saul, and Jonathan his son, and the people that were present with them, abode in Gibeah of Benjamin: but the Philistines encamped in Michmash. 17 And the spoilers came out of the camp of the Philistines in three companies: one company turned unto the way that leadeth to Ophrah, unto the land of Shual: 18 And another company turned the way to Bethhoron: and another company turned to the way of the border that looketh to the valley of Zeboim toward the wilderness. 19 Now there was no smith found throughout all the land of Israel: for the Philistines said, Lest the Hebrews make them swords or spears: 20 But all the Israelites went down to the Philistines, to sharpen every man his share, and his coulter, and his ax, and his mattock. 21 Yet they had a file for the mattocks, and for the coulters, and for the forks, and for the axes, and to sharpen the goads. 22 So it came to pass in the day of battle, that there was neither sword nor spear found in the hand of any of the people that were with Saul and Jonathan: but with Saul and with Jonathan his son was there found. 23 And the garrison of the Philistines went out to the passage of Michmash.

Amen!
