MESSAGE

The tongue is one of the organs of our body. We use our tongue for tasting and also for speaking.

We could use our mouth to say positive words that could make people happy.

At times also, when we are upset and angry about something or a person, we might at that time say negative words. .

In Numbers 12:1, Miriam and Aaron spoke against Moses because of the  Ethiopian woman whom he had married. They were upset with Moses.  God heard their complaints.  The Lord then called Moses, Aaron and Miriam. God was not happy that Miriam and Aaron spoke against Moses.

Miriam then became leprous. But God had mercy on her and she was healed afterwards.

Also, in the story of Nabal, Abigail and David, in 1 Samuel 25: 2-38, Nabal was a very rich man. He had a wife called Abigail.

David sent ten of his young men to Nabal to greet him, to explain to him that Nabal’s shephard were not hurt when they were with David and his men. David, through his servants then requested Nabal to give him and his servants anything that comes to his hand.

David’s servant spoke to Nabal all that David had told them. Nabal responded back harshly.

When David’s men returned and told David Nabal’s response, David told his men to grind on their swords. David also girded on his sword.  He was going to fight (against) Nabal.

Abigail (Nabal’s wife) was told how her husband reviled David’s men. She was told to consider what she would do has harm was determined against Nabal and his  household.

Abigail went ahead and begged David. David rescinded on his plan to fight Nabal. Abigail then went to Nabal. He was holding a feast in his house. Nabal’s heart was merry within him because he was very drunk. Abigail told him nothing, little or much, until morning light.

A lesson there is that Abigail restrained from probably reprimanding Nabal for his response to David’s servants. She could have as well told her husband how she helped save his life while he was getting himself drunk. She told him nothing. We can learn from here that we need to bridle our tongue. We can save ourselves a whole lot doing that (James 3: 8-10)

In the morning, when the wine had gone from Nabal, his wife then spoke to him. His heart died within him. After about ten days, the Lord struck Nabal and he died.

Death and life are in the power of the tongue (Proverbs 18:21a). The lesson for us today is to by the help of the Holy spirit bridle our tongue.

The grace to use our tongues positively,  the Almighty God shall grant unto us in Jesus name. Amen.

Power Of Our Confession. Death And Life Are In The Power Of The Tongue

Power Of Our Confession. Death And Life Are In The Power Of The Tongue

Proverbs_21-23: Whoso keepeth his mouth and his tongue keepeth his soul from troubles

Proverbs_21-23: Whoso keepeth his mouth and his tongue keepeth his soul from troubles

Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof.”

Proverb 18:21

Numbers 13 tells that 12 spies had gone to spy the land that God gave to the children of Israel. Caleb said, Let us go up at once, and possess it; for we are well able to overcome it. But the men that went up with him said, we are not able to go up against the people because they are stronger than us. They said the land which we have gone to search is a land that eats up its inhabitants and all the people that we saw in it were men of great stature. We saw the giants, the sons of Anak and we were in our own sight as grasshoppers, and so we were in their sight.

Romans_10-10: For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation

Romans_10-10: For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation

They said they were like grasshoppers in their own sight. That is what we are thinking about ourselves. And so what they were thinking about themselves became what their enemies were thinking about them. When you think evil or negative about your life, you will soon begin to say it and by saying it you arm your enemy and you will have what you say. Because of this God was upset that He wanted to wipe them out completely but Moses intervened and pleaded with God in the place of prayer. And the LORD said, I have pardoned according to your word, but as truly as I live, all those men who have seen my glory, and my miracles, which I did in Egypt and in the wilderness, and have tempted me now these ten times, and have not hearkened to my voice shall not see the land which I swear unto their fathers, neither shall any of them that provoked me see it . . . As truly as I live . . . as ye have spoken in mine ears, so will I do to you (Numbers 14:20-23,28)

Romans_1-16: For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek

Romans_1-16: For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek

It was God’s idea to take them to the Promised Land but they said no, it eats its inhabitants. There are giants there and those that go in there do not come out. Look at how foolish their statement was. They went to spy the same land that they said eats its inhabitants and they came out with grapes and it didn’t eat them. And God said to them those of you who think you can take accountability of your life from 20 years and above will not enter. Your carcasses will fall in the wilderness except Joshua and Caleb who believed me because they have a different spirit

Mark_9-23-1: Jesus said unto him, If thou canst believe, all things are possible to him that believeth

Mark_9-23-1: Jesus said unto him, If thou canst believe, all things are possible to him that believeth

They don’t believe that they will not be a disappointment or a byword. They don’t believe that things will not turn around for them. They are the ones that believe that no matter what it is, head or tail they win. They believe that somehow, it will be good for them because God is good and His thought towards them is a thought of peace. He is for them! And He who spared not His only son but gave Him up for them how can He not through Him freely give them all things. That’s the way they were thinking.
