HOW TO RECEIVE ANSWERS IN PRAYER.

The life of the believer is a life given to prayer. When you pray, it shows that you trust God. Receiving answers to prayer does not necessarily mean receiving everything that you asked for but receiving feedback from God. The believer should know that God is not tied to time. This understanding will help you not to put things you desire in the future. Receiving answers to prayers is what you receive in the place of prayers.

WHAT DID JESUS SAID ABOUT PRAYER?

Mark 11:24 

Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them.

The first thing you should have before prayer is desire. Desire will be speaking about what you want or crave. This is Jesus teaching us about how to ask for things you want. In the place of prayer, you are to believe that you have received them. The word “receive” is the lay hold of something in order to use it.

In prayer, you lay hold the fulfilment of your desires.

You shall have them is a future tense. You are to believe you lay hold of your desires, which is an active action in the present so that you can have it in the future. The future doesn’t necessarily mean 10 years or 20 years later. The future will be talking about what happens after you have prayed. 

Jesus is teaching you here that you receive answers first when you are praying. This is why it’s important that your mind is not distracted.

HOW THE DEVIL ROBS YOU FROM RECEIVING. 

How the devil robs you from receiving answers to prayers is to attack your mind.

In James 1:6-7, the apostle advised to the man praying is “But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed. For let not that man think that he shall receive any thing of the Lord.”

To be in faith is to believe that you have received them. Therefore, if your mind is unstable, then you won’t be able to lay hold of the fulfilment of your desires.

If you are in prayer and you notice you start thinking of the many things you are yet to do, like washing your clothes or cooking, or you are anxious, you won’t receive anything from the Lord. It is not that God will not give you what you want, but you are the one that won’t receive it.

HOW TO RECEIVE ANSWERS TO PRAYERS?

Meditation before prayer is very important so that your mind will not be unstable or wavering. Before you pray, read about God’s faithfulness from the scriptures, listen to testimonies of what God has done, and think deeply on it before prayers. Meditation deals with that anxiety or doubt that may cloud your mind while praying.

1 John 5:14

And this is the confidence that we have in him—that, if we ask anything according to his will, he heareth us:

To receive answers in prayer, you must approach prayer with confidence, which is the appreciation of what God has made you. You should not be in the place of prayer and be thinking you are not worthy or you are a sinner; that is not confidence. Here, confidence is knowing who God is, what he can do, and relying on him.

Asking anything according to His will is to ask according to His desire, his pleasure. God’s desire is that you have confidence in him and speak to him about everything and anything. His will is that God hears us when we ask anything.

This scripture is not saying to ask according to what God wants for you but much more asking with confidence that God hears you.

1 John 5:15

And if we know that he hears us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of him.

Can you see that the focus of the writer is knowing that he hears us? Apostle John is teaching you here that’s when you pray. You should be aware that God hears you because this is what would make you remain in faith to lay hold of your desires until you have them.
