Isaiah_44-3: For I will pour water upon him that is thirsty, and floods upon the dry ground: I will pour my spirit upon thy seed, and my blessing upon thine offspring

Acts 1:4-8
And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place.
2 And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting.
3 And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them.
4 And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.
Acts 2:1-4
Introduction:
The Holy Spirit is Eternal Hebrews 9:14 (How much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without spot to God, purge your conscience from dead works to serve the living God?). He enables us to see clearly and to focus. No one comes to the saving knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ except through the inner working of Holy Spirit.
The Deity Of Holy Spirit.
Who is a Deity?
A deity is a supernatural being considered divine or sacred.
The Holy Spirit is Eternal. Hebrews 9:14 (How much more, then, will the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself unblemished to God, cleanse our consciences from acts that lead to death, so that we may serve the living God!)
- Holy Spirit is infinite & Omnipresent.
Act 2:17
“‘In the last days, God says, I will pour out my Spirit on all people. Your sons and daughters will prophesy, your young men will see visions, your old men will dream dreams.
- Holy Spirit is Omniscience.
1 Corinthians 3:17
If anyone destroys God’s temple, God will destroy that person; for God’s temple is sacred, and you together are that temple.
- Holy Spirit is Sovereign.
Acts 11:12
And the spirit bade me go with them, nothing doubting. Moreover these six brethren accompanied me, and we entered into the man’s house:
- Holy Spirit is Lord.
2 Corinthians 3:17
Now the Lord is that Spirit: and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty.
- Holy Spirit is the Spirit of The Father.
Matthew 10:12
When you enter the home, give it your blessing.
Characteristics Of The Holy Spirit.
The Spirit of God is a person as much as the Father and the Son are persons.
- The Holy Spirit has a mind.
Romans 8:27
And he who searches our hearts knows the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for God’s people in accordance with the will of God.
- The Holy Spirit has a Will.
1 Corinthians 12:11
But all these worketh that one and the selfsame Spirit, dividing to every man severally as he will.
- The Holy Spirit prohibits.
Acts 16:6-7
Now when they had gone throughout Phrygia and the region of Galatia, and were forbidden of the Holy Ghost to preach the word in Asia,
7 After they were come to Mysia, they assayed to go into Bithynia: but the Spirit suffered them not.
- The Holy Spirit guides.
Acts 16:10
After Paul had seen the vision, we got ready at once to leave for Macedonia, concluding that God had called us to preach the gospel to them.
- The Holy Spirit Speaks.
Acts 8:29
The Spirit told Philip, “Go to that chariot and stay near it.”
Acts 10:19
While Peter was still thinking about the vision, the Spirit said to him, “Simon, three men are looking for you.
Acts 13:2
While they were worshiping the Lord and fasting, the Holy Spirit said, “Set apart for me Barnabas and Saul for the work to which I have called them.”
The Functions Of The Holy Spirit.
The functions of the Holy Spirit are seen in:
- The conception of Jesus Christ.
Luke 1:35
And the angel answered and said unto her, The Holy Ghost shall come upon thee, and the power of the Highest shall overshadow thee: therefore also that holy thing which shall be born of thee shall be called the Son of God.
- Resurrection of Christ.
Romans 8:11
But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you.
- The Work of Salvation and Regeneration of Souls.
John 3:8
The wind blows wherever it pleases. You hear its sound, but you cannot tell where it comes from or where it is going. So it is with everyone born of the Spirit.”
1 Peter 1:2
Who have been chosen according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, through the sanctifying work of the Spirit, to be obedient to Jesus Christ and sprinkled with his blood: Grace and peace be yours in abundance.
Romans 8:14
For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.
2 Corinthians 3:18
But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord.
- The Holy Spirit teaches.
John 14:26
But the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you.
- The Holy Spirit empowers believers.
1 Corinthians 12:4-11
Now there are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit.
5 And there are differences of administrations, but the same Lord.
6 And there are diversities of operations, but it is the same God which worketh all in all.
7 But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to every man to profit withal.
8 For to one is given by the Spirit the word of wisdom; to another the word of knowledge by the same Spirit;
9 To another faith by the same Spirit; to another the gifts of healing by the same Spirit;
10 To another the working of miracles; to another prophecy; to another discerning of spirits; to another divers kinds of tongues; to another the interpretation of tongues:
11 But all these worketh that one and the selfsame Spirit, dividing to every man severally as he will.
Conclusion:
The Holy Spirit persuades the heart to come to Christ, regenerates souls and sanctifies each child of God. The Holy Spirit is sovereign and has been at work since He descended on the day of Pentecost. The Holy Spirit empowers the Church/believers with the baptism of the Holy Spirit and gives gifts of the Holy Spirit to believers as He Wills.
