Is Anything in Life Free Anymore?

By Will Graham

The Easter Sunrise Service has always been one of my favorite services to preach. There’s something so special and unique about gathering to worship the risen Savior on Easter morning. It’s a time when we can focus most on the sacrifice and glorious resurrection of Jesus, which gives us hope and removes the sting of death. I love it!

I remember several years ago when I was in college and dating the beautiful woman who would one day be my bride, Kendra. I took her with me to visit my grandfather, Billy Graham, for Easter in Montreat, N.C.

On our way back to Liberty University that afternoon, we drove up to Boone, N.C., to see my parents. We pulled into a little gas station on the south side of U.S. Route 70 to fuel up and be on our way. I vividly remember standing in line while the people in front of me made friendly conversation with the clerk behind the counter.

“Nothing’s free anymore!” the man chuckled as he handed over the money to pay for his gasoline purchase.

At that moment God told me to speak. My heart cried out to share the Gospel with these people: “Yes, God’s gift of Salvation is free! That’s what Easter is all about! God paid the debt for you through His Son, Jesus!”

My friends, that’s what I should have said.

Sadly, I kept that proclamation to myself. I regret it to this day. God gave me the words to say and wanted me to share His hope on that glorious Easter day with people who likely needed to hear it, but I disobeyed him and kept it silently in my heart. Frankly, I chickened out.

I made a covenant with God that day that if I ever felt Him speaking through me again, I would share it boldly and not hold back. Who knows? Sharing the words He gives us may be the difference between someone spending an eternity in Heaven or in Hell; the difference between a life of hope and a life of discouragement and despair.

As we celebrate Christ’s resurrection this year, I encourage you to listen to God as He speaks to you, and be His mouthpiece as He speaks through you. Easter is what it’s all about, and we need to take every opportunity available to us to share His saving message.

Has God laid on your heart the names of friends and loved ones who need to know Him?

May GOD bless Nigeria, America and Israel and take care of us; May GOD make His face shine upon us, And be gracious to us; May the LORD lift up His countenance upon us, And give us peace, In Jesus Christ Name, we pray! Amen!

May the grace the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all. Amen!

Hymn 618. The sower went forth sowing

The sower went forth sowing;

The seed in secret slept

Through days of faith and patience,

Till out the green blade crept;

And warmed by golden sunshine,

And fed by sliver rain,

At last the fields were whitened

To harvest once again

O praise the heav’nly Sower

Who gave the fruitful seed,

And watch’s and water’d duly,

And ripen’d for our need.

2:

Behold! The heavenly Sower

Goes forth with better seed,

The word of sure Salvation,

With feet and hands that bleed;

Here in His church ’tis scattered,

Our spirits are the soil;

Then let an ample fruitage

Repay His pain and toil.

O beautiful the harvest

Wherein all goodness thrives,

And this the true thanksgiving,

The first-firsts of our lives.

3:

Within a hallowed acre

He sows yet other grain,

When peaceful earth receiveth

The dead He died to gain;

For, though the growth be hidden,

We know that they shall rise;

Yea, even now that they ripen

In sunny paradise.

O summer land of harvest,

O fields forever white

With souls that wear Christ’s raiment

With crowns of golden light!

4:

One day the heavenly Sower

Shall reap where He hath sown,

And come again rejoicing,

And with Him bring His own;

And then the fan of judgment

Shall winnow from His floor

The chaff into the furnace

That flameth evermore

O holy, awful Reaper,

Have mercy in the day

Thou puttest in Thy sickle,

And cast us not away.

Thank You Jesus,

Salvation Prayers

If you don’t Know Jesus as your personal Lord and Saviour and would like to accept him into your life as your personal Lord and Saviour, Please say this prayer:

Father, I know that I have broken your laws and my sins have separated me from You. I am truly sorry, and now I want to turn away from my past sinful life toward You. Please forgive me, and help me avoid sinning again. I believe that Your son, Jesus Christ died for my sins, was resurrected from the dead, is alive, and hears my prayer. I invite Jesus to become the Lord of my life, to rule and reign in my heart from this day forward. Please send Your Holy Spirit to help me obey You, and to do Your Will for the rest of my life. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.

Hymn 668: ‘I Serve a Risen Saviour’ – A joyful declaration of Christ’s living presence, guidance, and eternal hope for believers.

Hymn 668: I serve a risen Saviour

I serve a risen Saviour,

He’s in the world today;

I know that He is living,

Whatever men may say;

I see his hand of mercy,

I hear His voice of cheer,

And just the time I need Him

He’s always near.

He lives, He lives,

Christ Jesus lives today!

He walks with me and talks

With me along life’s narrow way.

He lives, He lives, salvation to impart!

You ask me how I know He lives.

He lives within my heart.

2: In all the world around me

I see His loving care,

And though my heart grows weary

I never will despair;

I know that He is leading,

Thro’ all the stormy blast,

The day of His appearing will come at last.

3: Rejoice, rejoice, O Christian,

Lift up your voice and sing

Eternal Hallelujahs to Jesus

Christ the King!

The Hope of all who seek Him,

The Help of all who find,

None other is so loving,

So good and kind.

Thank You Jesus,

Father, I know that I have broken your laws and my sins have separated me from You. I am truly sorry, and now I want to turn away from my past sinful life toward You. Please forgive me, and help me avoid sinning again. I believe that Your son, Jesus Christ died for my sins, was resurrected from the dead, is alive, and hears my prayer. I invite Jesus to become the Lord of my life, to rule and reign in my heart from this day forward. Please send Your Holy Spirit to help me obey You, and to do Your Will for the rest of my life. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.

Hymn 677: Wounded for me, wounded for me

Wounded for me, wounded for me,

There on the cross He was wounded for me;

Gone my transgressions and now I am free,

All because Jesus was wounded for me.

2: Risen for me, risen for me,

Up from the grave He has risen for me;

Now evermore from death’s sting I am free,

All because Jesus has risen for me.

3: Living for me, living for me,

There on the Throne He is living for me;

Saved to the uttermost now I shall be,

All because Jesus is living for me.

4: Coming for me, coming for me,

One day to earth He is coming for me;

Then with what joy His dear face I shall see,

Oh, how I praise Him – He’s coming for me.

2025 SHALL NOT SWALLOW ME.

1 Peter 3.19 – 20

By which also he went and preached unto the spirits in prison;

Which sometime were disobedient, when once the longsuffering of God waited in the days of Noah, while the ark was a preparing, wherein few, that is, eight souls were saved by water.

Good morning and happy new year to you my friend. We give God the praise for the opportunity He has given us to see yet another year in the land of the living.

There are many interpretations to the bible text this morning but I am on the side of those that believe Apostle Peter to be saying that, the event in the study text took place when Jesus was in the tomb after His death.

Jesus did not just sleep in the tomb, He went to preach gospel even in hell and those that believed rose with Him.

Who are the “The spirits in prison” who “formerly did not obey?”

There is a believe among others that says, they are the souls of Old Testament believers, whom Jesus liberated from captivity of hell and brought with Him to heaven.

Matthew 27.52 – 53 confirms that, “And the graves were opened; and many bodies of the saints which slept arose,

And came out of the graves after His (Jesus) resurrection, and went into the holy city, and appeared unto many”.

The message that Jesus proclaims was His death and resurrection. It is therefore a good news to them.

The Apostles’ Creed says “I believe in God, the Father almighty, creator of heaven and earth.

I believe in JESUS CHRIST, His only begotten Son, our Lord. He was conceived by the Holy Spirit, and born of the Virgin Mary. He suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died and was buried. HE DESCENDED INTO HELL. On the third day, He rose again. He ascended into heaven, and is seated at the right hand of God the Father Almighty…”

As we are going into this year, beginning from today, we should pray in faith that the power that raised Jesus Christ up from dead after preaching to the spirits in prison of hell will see us through the year and take us gracefully to 2026 and beyond if Jesus tarries.

Jesus did not come out of the prison alone, those who believed in Him rose with Him. Therefore, it is expected of us that we are not coming out of this year alone, the way we entered.

God has promised to bless us this year, however, we must ensure that our lives win souls unto His kingdom.

There are many people wallowing in sins that we must take the gospel of Jesus Christ to. By the time, we would have souls that will come out with us in 2026.

Friend, you cannot give what you don’t have. If you yourself have not accepted Jesus as your Lord and personal Saviour, how then can you tell others to give their life? That is one of the reasons why you must surrender your life unto Him now.

Until tomorrow again if Jesus tarries and He permits when we shall be studying another topic as may be dictated by the Holy Spirit, I pray for you that year 2025 will neither swallow you nor write your last chapter in Jesus name.

Don’t forget that Adesola Arilewola cares for your soul and Jesus loves you more than you know.

MARANATHA.

By Chukwuemeka Obiorah Ogwo,

Revelation 1:18; "I am he that liveth, and was dead; and, behold, I am alive for evermore, Amen; and have the keys of hell and of death."

Jesus Is The Resurrection And The Life.

John_11-25: Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live

John_11-25: Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live

Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me, though he may die, shall live. And whoever lives and believes in Me shall never die. Do you believe this?”. —John 11: 25-26

When we grow up in the world, we are told that we have to do everything that we can before we die, because that is all that we will leave, and that there can be nothing after death.

When we walk with Jesus, even death is not the end! Nothing seems as final as death, and yet Jesus challenges that by declaring Himself the Resurrection and the Life. He stared death in the eye, and death blinked.

When Jesus spoke to Martha in John 11, He made her two promises: THAT WE WILL ALWAYS HAVE ACCESS TO AN ETERNAL LIFE THAT TRUMPS DEATH, AND THAT THERE IS NO ONE AND NOTHING THAT IS TOO FAR GONE THAT JESUS WILL NOT RESTORE IT AGAIN.
Jesus is able to breathe life into every new dream, every hope, every relationship, and even every calling. No matter how much you feel you have strayed, He will always be able to restore you! Ya’ know, maybe it’s your time to pick up the phone and call a loved one or a friend and bring healing to a relationship. Maybe now is the time to step forward to follow what you know is your passion in life. Now may be your time to pursue an education you never thought you could earn.

Through Jesus, you are able to live your life in a way that will always honour God, and that destiny is eternal. It is through the ultimate sacrifices of the Son that we are able to reach the love of our Father, and it is through Jesus’ death and resurrection that we, too will be able to live out eternity at the right hand of the Abba.

My prayer for you, friends, as we finish this 12-day devotional, is that you will never forget that you have eternal life because of Jesus. I hope that you will take every opportunity to glorify God, and bask in His love and compassion for you!

On the resurrection morning

John_11-25: Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live

John_11-25: Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live

On the resurrection morning

Soul and body meet again;

No more sorrow, no more

weeping

No more pain!

Here a while they must be parted,

And the flesh its Sabbath keep,

Waiting in a holy stillness,

Wrapt in sleep.

For a while the tired body

To its resting-place its borne

Till there dawns the last and

brightest

Easter morn.

But the soul in contemplation

Utters earnest prayer and strong,

 Breaking at the resurrection Into song.

Soul and body reunited

Thenceforth nothing shall divide

Waking up in Christ’s own likeness,

Satisfied.

Oh! the beauty, oh! the gladness

Of that resurrection day

Which shall not through endless ages

Pass away!

On that happy Easter morning

All the graves their dead restore;

Father, mother, child, and brethren

Meet once more.

To that brightest of all meetings

Bring us, Jesus Christ, at last;

To Thy cross, through death and judgment,

Holding fast.

Christ the Lord is risen today! Hallelujah!

Romans_5-8: But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.

Romans_5-8: But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.

Christ the Lord is risen today! Hallelujah!

Sons of men and angels say, Hallelujah!

Raise your songs and triumphs high: Hallelujah!

Sing! ye heavens; thou earth reply; Hallelujah!

Love’s redeeming work is done,

Fought the fight, the battle won:

Lo! our sun’s eclipse is over;

 Lo! he sets in blood no more:

Vain the stone, the watch, the seal,

Christ hath burst the gates of hell;

Death in vain forbids Him rise,

Christ hath opened Paradise.

Lives again our glorious King:

Where, O death, is now thy sting?

Once He died our souls to save;

Where’s thy victory, O grave?

Soar we now where Christ hath led,

Following our exalted Head:

Made like Him, like Him we rise;

Ours the cross, the grave, the skies.

Hail! the Lord of earth and heaven;

Praise to Thee by both be given,

Thee we greet triumphant now:

Hail ! the Resurrection, Thou!

Amen!
