Jesus Is The Chief Cornerstone.

Proverbs_18-10: The name of the LORD is a strong tower: the righteous runneth into it, and is safe

Proverbs_18-10: The name of the LORD is a strong tower: the righteous runneth into it, and is safe

Now, therefore, you are no longer strangers and foreigners, but fellow citizens with the saints and members of the household of God, having been built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets and Jesus Christ Himself being the cornerstone. —Ephesians 2:19-20

If you live in or have ever visited the suburbs of any city, you have probably seen a house being built. The construction process is very complicated and delicate, and the detail with which the contractor and workers must work is amazing! But in order to create the frame of the house and put a roof on and add floors and walls, every architect must first lay the foundation and place the first stone.

Flooring can be replaced, and a roof can be repaired. Even walls can be torn down and rebuilt. But, friends, if a foundation is cracked, or if the first stone is crooked and not placed correctly, a house cannot stand.

It will not stand!

The apostle Peter called Jesus the cornerstone in Ephesians because the cornerstone is the first and more important block in all of the construction. By it, all other stones will find their fit and placement. It is used to ensure that the building is level and the walls are strong and straight.

The cornerstone is the ultimate guide to measure every other piece and process of the building. The only way that our lives can stand straight, tall, and strong is to build them according to God. We should keep Jesus as our cornerstone. The enemy wants to knock Him out of the way and replace Him, but Paul assures the Ephesians that the only way to stand together and united is through Jesus. Any other measure will lead us to ruin!
I pray for you, today, to remember Jesus is the first block in our lives, and that He is what we should measure our choices and actions by. May you remember to focus on His thoughts and teachings so that you experience the fullness of what God has for you!

Will Your Anchor Hold In The Storms Of Life

Proverbs_18-10: The name of the LORD is a strong tower: the righteous runneth into it, and is safe

Proverbs_18-10: The name of the LORD is a strong tower: the righteous runneth into it, and is safe

Will Your Anchor Hold In The Storms Of Life
When The Clouds Unfold Their Wings Of Strife?
When The Strong Tides Lift, And The Cables Strain,
Will Your Anchor Drift, Or Firm Remain?

We Have An Anchor That Keeps The Soul
Steadfast And Sure While The Billows Roll;
Fastened To The Rock Which Cannot Move,
Grounded Firm And Deep In The Saviour’s Love!

It Is Safely Moored, ‘Twill The Storm Withstand.
For Tis Well Secured By The Saviour’s Hand,
And The Cables, Passed From His Heart To Mine,
Can Defy The Blast Through Strength Divine.

It Will Firmly Hold In The Straits Of Fear,
When The Breakers Have Told The Reef Is Near;
Though The Tempest Rage And The Wild Winds Blow,
Not An Angry Wave Shall Our Bark Overflow:

It Will Surely Hold In The Flood Of Death,
When The Waters Cold, Chill Our Latest Breath,
On The Rising Tide It Can Never Fail,
While Our Hopes Abide Within The Veil!

When Our Eyes Behold, Through The Gathering Night
The City Of Gold, Our Harbour Bright,
We Shall Anchor Fast By The Heavenly Shore,
With The Storms All Past For Evermore.
Amen!

What part of your weakness can you give to the Lord so that he can make you strong?

2-Corinthians_12-9: And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me

2-Corinthians_12-9: And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me

“He said to me, ‘My grace is sufficient for you, for my strength is made perfect in weakness.’ Therefore, most gladly I will rather boast in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me. Therefore, I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in needs, in persecutions, in distresses, for Christ’s sake. For when I am weak, then I am strong.”

2 Corinthians 12:9-10

The greatest sources of suffering in my life once wore diapers and cried throughout the night. When they were babies, my children woke up every two or three hours. If I’d been up late or had to get up early, it was hard to be woken in the middle of the night to rock them back to sleep or change their diapers. I’ve lost some freedom. It’s tiring sometimes. So, honestly, the greatest source of suffering in my life right comes from these precious children in our house.

On the other hand, one of the greatest joys and happiness and fulfillment is what I have in my children. When I see their chubby cheeks, hear their childish patter, I’m overwhelmed with love.

You can’t have one without the other. You can’t live life and hope to never experience pain, struggle, or suffering. You can’t have a fulfilled, wonderful life without also understanding that suffering is coming. A life without pain is not a fulfilled life. A life without pain is numb.

Prayer: Lord, thank You for taking my weakness and turning it into strength, and for showing me that within my suffering is also great joy. For, when I’m overwhelmed, it’s a perfect opportunity to lean on You. Amen.
