Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit, but in humility consider others better than yourselves

Fruits of Humility

An unfriendly man pursues selfish ends; he defies all sound judgment.

Proverbs 18:1

We have become a culture absorbed with self. Self-fulfillment and self-satisfaction, self-esteem and self-actualization are the battle cries of our day.

We use these cries to justify a multitude of sins. The sick, elderly, unwanted and disabled are easy to ignore in our quest for “self,” yet these are the very people Jesus reached out to. Philippians 2:3 tells us, “Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit, but in humility consider others better than yourselves.”

The focus should not be on ourselves, but on Christ, who is the ultimate example of humility. The God of the universe came down to earth and humbled Himself by becoming subject to all the things human beings experience-fear, hunger, weariness.

In John 13:5, He even washes the feet of His disciples: “After that, he poured water into a basin and began to wash his disciples’ feet, drying them with the towel that was wrapped around him.” Follow His example of humility today. Ask Him to guide you in living a life that honors Him.

Keep your heart with all diligence, For out of it spring the issues of life

Fill yourself with the Word & promises of God.

Proverbs 4:23 “Keep your heart with all diligence, For out of it spring the issues of life.”

When you are facing problems and frustrations in your life; it is so easy to start to criticize God and wonder if He really cares for you. It is during times like these that you need to guard your heart and not allow doubt and fear to enter. Fill yourself with the Word and promises of God so that when the difficult times come your heart is filled with God’s truth and His plan for that situation and challenge.

Do you despise the riches of His goodness, forbearance, and long-suffering, not knowing that the goodness of God leads you to repentance? Romans 2:4

Jesus says—Give the grace you’ve been given!

Romans 2:4 says God is kind to you so you will change your hearts and lives.

We’re not to be like the unchanged wife. Before her conversion to Christ, she endlessly nagged, picked on, and berated her husband. When she became a Christian, nothing changed. One might question if she was truly born again to start with.

Forgiven people will forgive others. And they’ll be grateful—because gratitude is the joy of the forgiven servant.

We all choose what lives inside us.

Make it a day changer! Choose forgiveness!

Hallelujah! We now live in a time when all our debts to God have been cancelled and all the things the devil stole from us have been returned.

OUR DEBTS HAVE BEEN CANCELLED

Luke 4:19, “To proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord.”

LUKE 4:16-30

This scripture had been written prophetically by the prophet Isaiah about 650 years prior to this time. It was read in Jewish synagogues thousands of times. But the one this verse was speaking of had never spoken it before. With this pronouncement, Jesus began the year of Jubilee.

The Year of Jubilee was described in Leviticus 25. It was a year when everyone left their fields unworked and kept a sabbath unto the Lord. The Lord gave the people a miraculous provision the year before this jubilee started that sustained them for three years until their crops could once again be harvested.

This jubilee was different than the other sabbatical years in that every debt was cancelled. All property was returned to its original owner and anyone who had been sold into slavery was set free. It was a year of new beginnings.

Jesus proclaimed a spiritual jubilee. We now live in a time when all our debts to God have been cancelled and all the things the devil stole from us have been returned. Even our slavery to the devil has come to an end through the redemptive work of our Lord Jesus Christ. This is a time for rejoicing.

Jesus is our jubilee.

May Our God The Almighty prosper Nigeria and Israel and defend us from all our enemies in Jesus Christ Name, Amen!

God wants it to be by grace, not by works, by grace through faith

God wants it to be by grace, not by works, by grace through faith

Proverbs 4:13 says: “Take fast hold of instruction; let her not go: keep her; for she is thy life.”

In this passage of scripture we see that we must hold onto instruction because the devil is constantly trying to divert it from us. We know that the instruction of the Lord leads to life and it more abundantly.

As God desires us to hold onto His ways, the devil is trying to bring things to us in ways that look like they are right, but they are wrong. I want to encourage you today to look at the things that God has told you from the scriptures. When you begin to see what God has done and what His instruction is, you have to protect it. This is what creates an environment of obedience and humility. If you will do it, you will see God get involved, and He will pour out grace without measure so that your life will be changed forever. God wants it to be by grace, not by works, by grace through faith. He wants to do a lot for you, so you must keep the way He instructs you to live, and you must do the things He has written on your heart. It’s time to keep them, protect them, and establish an environment of humility and obedience where you will eat of the fat of the land and see the grace of God.

Hold onto instruction!

Trust and Rely on God‘s Word

James 1:6,7 “But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for he who doubts is like a wave of the sea driven and tossed by the wind. 7 For let not that man suppose that he will receive anything from the Lord; 8 he is a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways.”

Being double minded means that the mind of your flesh is trying to divert your Spirit mind away from what God is saying. Yes, you have two minds and depending on which one you feed the most, will determine which one has the greatest influence. You have to be lead by the Spirit, trusting and relying on God’s word if you want to see the promises of God manifest in your life.

Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds out of the mouth of God. Spiritual food.

Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds out of the mouth of God. Spiritual food.

John 4:32, “But he saith unto them, I have meat to eat that ye know not of.”

JOHN 4:27-46

Food is essential for life. Without it we couldn’t grow. We get strength and vitality from food. Yet food can kill us. Improper diets kill more people than any disease.

Our soul needs nourishment too. The things we think on and the desires that we have are food to our souls. Jesus said, “Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God” (Mat. 4:4).

Jesus valued spiritual nourishment more than He valued physical nourishment. He was thrilled to see this woman and the people of this town respond to His gift of salvation. Likewise, we should set our desires on the things of God so that spiritual matters are more important to us than our physical food.

The wrong diet for our souls is the leading cause of failure and depression in Christians. Being spiritually minded produces life and peace. Being carnally minded produces death (Rom. 8:6).

In our health conscious society, many of us wouldn’t dream of abusing our bodies with bad diets. Yet in our spiritual life, we are killing ourselves by feeding on the wrong things. Treat yourself to a healthy spiritual meal today.

May Our God The Almighty prosper Nigeria and Israel and defend us from all our enemies in Jesus Christ Name, Amen!

Cast you burden upon Jesus for He cares for you

Cast you burden upon Jesus for He cares for you

Psalm 55:4-22

Oh, that I had wings like a dove! I would fly away and be at rest. —Psalm 55:6

David sighed, “Oh, that I had wings like a dove! I would fly away and be at rest” (Ps. 55:6). As for me, I’d build a cabin in the Sawtooths, or take a permanent post in a fire-lookout tower. When life weighs on me, I too yearn to fly away and be at rest.

David wrote freely about his circumstances: Violence, oppression, and strife surrounded him on all sides, stirred up by the disloyalty of an old friend (55:8-14). Fear and terror, pain and trembling, anxiety and restlessness overwhelmed him (vv.4-5). Is it any wonder he longed to fly away?

But escape was impossible. He could not evade his lot. He could only give his circumstances to God: “As for me, I will call upon God, and the Lord shall save me. Evening and morning and at noon I will pray, and cry aloud, and He shall hear my voice” (vv.16-17).

Whatever our circumstances—a burdensome ministry, a difficult marriage, joblessness, or a deep loneliness—we can give them to God. He has lifted the burden of our sins; will He not lift the weight of our sorrows? We have trusted Him with our eternal souls; can we not entrust our present circumstances to Him? “Cast your burden on the Lord, and He shall sustain you” (55:22). —David Roper

Are you ever burdened with a load of care?

Does the cross seem heavy you are called to bear?

Count your many blessings, every doubt will fly,

And you will be singing as the days go by. —Oatman

You are fearfully and wonderfully made

You are unique!

You are fearfully and wonderfully made (Psalm 139:14). Do you know that there is something unique about you? There is something special in you that will make the world regard you. No matter how poor, neglected or downtrodden you are, you have what it takes to be at the top.

The tendency is for people to look down on you. They will evaluate you based on their yardsticks and write you off. They will say you can never make it to the top. They will say you can never make it in life. Don’t believe their lies! Whenever somebody or a situation tells you that you are less than who God says you are, then return to God’s word and verify, for the picture of who you are is in the Bible. Anything that fall short of that picture must be rejected; such is not your portion. Always believe and confess what God has spoken concerning you.

You are a bundle of solution! You are a solution to your world! Believe it or not, like Moses, there is a problem that only you can solve. There is a gap that only you can fill; you are indeed unique.

To discover and fulfil your purpose on earth, you need to have a personal relationship with the one who has a blueprint for your life – The Lord Jesus Christ.

Give your life to Jesus by confessing your sins to God. He will forgive all your sins and wash you clean with the Blood of Jesus Christ. Accept Him as your Personal Lord and Saviour, forsake all other things. Study His Word and live by it. Pray regularly, asking for His direction in all your ways. If you have given your life to Christ by taking the steps above, then CONGRATULATIONS!  Never think about the negative impression people have about you. YOU ARE UNIQUE! You shall succeed in life in Jesus Christ Name! Amen!

The Fisherman’s Boy. Be Prepared!

The Fisherman’s Boy

Be prepared!

There is a voice in the wilderness, crying loud and long, filled with love and tenderness, warning both old and young, crying day and night for all to hear,

Prepare! Prepare!! Prepare!!!

Have you ever heard the story of the fisherman’s boy? If you have not, I will tell you. Or maybe you have heard it before but just could not see how it concerns you. Well, you will soon find out, I hope!

The fisherman’s boy had been taught how to swim long before he could talk coherently. His tutor, the fisherman himself, was very thorough, very loving but rather demanding. He would insist, day after day, that his boy must spend hours in water practicing new strokes, new styles and new techniques. Every day it was practice, practice and more practice. Furthermore, it was almost impossible to satisfy him. No matter how well the boy swam or how hard he tried, his father was never satisfied. He was always finding one minor fault after the other.

The most tasking aspect of the boy’s training was what his father called the floating exercise. This involves moving round in small circles in deep water, keeping only the head just above the waves for hours on end.

At first, the boy endured it all in silence hoping that one day his training period would be over. However, when the drills, rather than lessen were intensified after his fifteenth birthday, he could not contain himself any longer. He confronted his father and demanded for an explanation.

“You are training for the stormy day,” the fisherman explained.

“Which stormy day?” the boy retorted. “We have been on fishing expeditions together for many years and there has never been a storm.”  The fisherman smiled gently and patted his boy on the back. Then he said, “My son, there may be no storm for twenty, thirty or even sixty years. But one day, without notice, the storm may come. When it does come, those who are not prepared would pay the price. Therefore, my boy always be prepared.”

Thus the drills continued. Several years later, half of the men in the boy’s village went on a fishing expedition. The boy, now a young and strong man, went with them. A lot of things had changed since his father said, “My boy, be prepared.” The fisherman had since died and big fishes did not seem to swim close to the villages anymore. To catch a big fish, men had to go really far into the sea. What was even more noticeable, at least to the boy, was that people were no more training as they used to do. Then on this faithful day, the storm came. It came suddenly and raged for hours. When it finally subsided, the men who stayed back at the village sent a rescue team.

When the team got to the fishing ground, the only living soul was the fisherman’s boy afloat, moving round and round in circles. As he climbed wearily into one of the rescue boats he recalled his father’s immortal saying, “When the storm comes, those who are not prepared would pay the price.”  He understood perfectly now! He had seen several of his playmate and villagers perish because they could not float long enough because they had not practised hard enough. He had seen unprepared people pay the price in full and with their lives.

How about you? Is life rosy now? Is all well and good with you? No problems of any kind and no storm as yet? Fine. Let us pray that things remain rosy for us. However, be prepared all the same just in case, remembering that life is not a bed of roses. The storm of life may come any day. When it does, those who are not prepared would pay the price. It is only those who are prepared that would survive.

You want to know how to be prepared? Just turn to Jesus Christ today. He is the only sure life boat, the only steadfast anchor in the storm of life (Hebrews 6:19-20). Learn to love Him now when the going is good and all is well. Then when the storm comes, He will stand by you and protect you. If you continue to reject Him now, when the storm comes, you will pay the price in full. There is no costlier price than your life. If you call on Him then He may not answer (Proverbs 1:23-28).

Perhaps your own storm has come already. Well, there may be hope for you still. If you turn to Him now in total submission, He will save you. He is kind and willing to overlook our sins (Isaiah 1:16-18; Acts 17:30).

In either case, if you sincerely desire the salvation of your soul, if you wish Christ to be your Friend so that you would be ready when the storm comes and be afloat when it is gone, the following are the things you must do.

Acknowledge the fact that you are a sinner (Job 7:20; Job 9:20; Psalm 106:6; Psalm 51)

Repent of your sins and confess them to God (Psalm 32:5)

Take a firm decision never to sin again.

Turn to Jesus Christ humbly in prayer, asking Him to forgive your past sins, save your soul from hell and eternal damnation and to come into your life! ( Psalm 130:1-5; Psalm 51:1-4; Zechariah 1:3; Malachi 3:7; Matthew 4:17; Acts 3:19).

Have you done all this? Do you wish to know more about Jesus Christ the Anchor that will never break, the only One who can keep you afloat when the storm comes? Find a Bible believing Church around you, become a member and work for God, then He will walk with you!

May Our God The Almighty prosper Nigeria and Israel and defend us from all our enemies in Jesus Christ Name, Amen!

THIRSTY?  But whosoever drinks of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst

John 4:14, “But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life.”

JOHN 4:4-26

Jesus painted a beautiful picture of salvation in this passage. The salvation Jesus brings is like an artesian spring which doesn’t have to be pumped. It bubbles up constantly.

Unfortunately, not every Christian‘s experience matches Jesus’ description. Many people relate more to an old pump which has to be pumped and pumped. Just as a trickle of water comes, they have to rest. They lose their prime. The water stops. Then they have to start all over again.

Yet, Jesus said we would never thirst again. This doesn’t mean that one drink satisfies us forever. But, as we continue to avail ourselves of this water of life daily, we will be constantly refreshed. The well of His life is there, but we must partake.

The dryness in a Christian’s life comes when we substitute other things for the living water that only Jesus can give. Anytime a Christian begins to thirst again, it is not a reflection on the living water that Jesus gives, but rather an indication that we have been drinking from some other source.

“Therefore with joy shall ye draw water out of the wells of salvation” (Isaiah 12:3).

The wisdom of God is one of the most important principles that need to be in every Christian‘s life. Solomon says in this piece of scripture that while man is busy with so many things, by far the most important is to acquire the wisdom of God. It will change your life and empower you to experiencing the fullness of God’s goodness.

Jesus said that one day everyone will stand before Him and have to give an account of the good they done while here on earth. As a matter of fact He said that many will say on that day that they done great works in His name; driving out demons and healing the sick, but they did not care for others in need. When the fire of God is burning in your heart, you will be compelled to give and share with others. Amen!

Proverbs 3:25,26 “Do not be afraid of sudden terror, Nor of trouble from the wicked when it comes; For the LORD will be your confidence, And will keep your foot from being caught.”

Paul said that what one fears will come upon you. We do not have a spirit of fear. In spite of trials and tribulations that do come into your life God is on your side and will always make a way for you. It may seem as if the problems are unbearable but do not become despondent, keep trusting God and through faith and patience you will see God’s promise come to pass in your life. Amen!

Speak life into your circumstances today

Speak life into your circumstances today

James 3:2-5 “For we all stumble in many things. If anyone does not stumble in word, he is a perfect man, able also to bridle the whole body. 3 Indeed, we put bits in horses’ mouths that they may obey us, and we turn their whole body. 4 Look also at ships: although they are so large and are driven by fierce winds, they are turned by a very small rudder wherever the pilot desires. 5 Even so the tongue is a little member and boasts great things.”

Life and death is in the power of the tongue. This is one of the most powerful tools that God has given you. Your mouth; Your tongue. It has the power to build up or to break down. It has the power to bring blessing or curse into your life. The key is to speak and proclaim what God says about your life and not what you are feeling or experiencing. What comes out of your mouth will determine the course of your whole life. Make a decision today to only speak God’s word over your life.

Proverbs 3:11-12 “My son, do not despise the chastening of the LORD, Nor detest His correction; For whom the LORD loves He corrects, Just as a father the son in whom he delights.”

Sometimes it is difficult to understand why certain things happen in your life. You need to trust God that He knows better and in spite of what seems to be a bad situation, He will always protect you and you will get through whatever you are going through. Many times God allows things in your life to build your character, so that His perfect will can be established in your life.
