Joy fills our inmost heart today

Psalms_16-11: Thou wilt shew me the path of life: in thy presence is fulness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore.

Psalms_16-11: Thou wilt shew me the path of life: in thy presence is fulness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore.

Joy fills our inmost heart today

The royal Child is born:

And angel hosts in glad array

His Advent keep this morn.

Rejoice, rejoice! the incarnate

Word

Has come on earth to dwell;

No sweeter sound than this is

heard

Emmanuel.

Low at the cradle throne we bend,

We wonder and adore;

And feel no bliss can ours transcend,

No joy was sweet before.

For us the world must lose its charms

Before the manger shrine,

When, folded in Thy mother’s arms

We see Thee Babe divine.

Thou Light of uncreated Light,

Shine on us, Holy Christ;

That we may keep Thy

birthday bright.

With service undefiled.

May God Bless Nigeria, America And Israel And Take Care Of Us; May God Make His Face Shine Upon Us, And Be Gracious To Us; May The Lord Lift Up His Countenance Upon Us, And Give Us Peace, In Jesus Christ Name, We Pray! Amen!

May The Grace The Lord Jesus Christ, And The Love Of God, And The Fellowship Of The Holy Spirit Be With You All. Amen!

As with gladness men of old

Matthew_17-20: And Jesus said unto them, Because of your unbelief: for verily I say unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you

Matthew_17-20: And Jesus said unto them, Because of your unbelief: for verily I say unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you

As with gladness men of old

Did the guiding star behold,

As with joy they hailed its light,

Leading onward, beaming

bright;

So, most gracious Lord, may we

Evermore be led to Thee.

As with joyful steps they sped,

Saviour, to Thy lowly bed,

There to bend the knee before

Thee, whom heav’n and earth

adore;

So may we with willing feet

Ever seek the mercy-seat.

As they offered gifts most rare

At thy cradle rude and bare;

So may we with holy joy,

Pure, and free from sin’s alloy,

All our costliest treasures bring,

Christ. to Thee, our heav’nly

King.

Holy Jesus, every day

Keep us in the narrow way;

And, when earthly things are

past,

Bring our ransomed souls at last

Where they need no star to

guide,

Where no clouds Thy glory hide.

In the heavenly country bright

Need they no created light;

Thou its light, its joy, its crown,

Thou its sun which goes not

down;

There for ever may we sing

Hallelujahs to our King.

Amen!

HARK! the herald-angels sing, Glory to the new-born King

John_3-5: Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God

HARK! the herald-angels sing

Glory to the new-born King,

Peace on earth, and mercy mild,

God and sinners reconciled,

Joyful, all ye nations rise,

Join the triumph of the skies;

With the angelic host proclaim,

Christ is born in Bethlehem.

Hark ! the herald-angels sing,

Glory to the new-born King.

Christ, by highest heaven adored,

Christ, the everlasting Lord,

Late in time behold Him come,

Off spring of a virgin’s womb!

Veiled in flesh the Godhead see;

Hail the incarnate Deity!

Pleased as Man with men to

dwell,

Jesus, our Immanuel.

Hail the heaven-born Prince of

Peace!

Hail the Sun of Righteousness!

Light and life to all He brings,

Born to give them second birth.

Come. Desire of nations, coma.

Fix in us Thy humble home:

Second Adam from above,

Reinstate us in thy love.

Christians, awake, salute the happy morn, Whereon the Saviour of mankind was born

John_1-12: Yet to all who did receive him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God

John_1-12: Yet to all who did receive him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God

Christians, awake, salute the happy morn,

Whereon the Saviour of mankind was born:

Rise to adore the mystery of love,

Which hosts of angels chanted from above;

With them the joyful tidings first begun

Of God incarnate and the Virgin’s Son.

Then to the watchful shepherds it was told

Who heard the angelic herald’s voice:

Behold, I bring good tidings of a Saviour’s birth

To you and all the nations upon earth:

This day hath God fulfilled His promised word,

This day is born a Saviour, Christ the Lord.

He spake; and straightway the celestial choir

In hymns of joy, unknown before, conspire,

Thy praises of redeeming love they sang,

And heaven’s whole orb with hallelujahs rang,

God’s highest glory was their anthem still,

Peace upon earth, and unto men goodwill.

To Bethlehem straight the enlightened shepherds ran,

To see the wonder God had wrought for man:

Then to their flocks, still praising God, return,

And their glad hearts, with holy rapture burn;

Amazed, the wondrous tidings they proclaim,

The first apostles of His infant

fame.

Oh may we keep and ponder in our mind

God’s wondrous love in saving lost mankind;

Trace we the Babe, who hath retrieved our loss,

From the poor manger to the bitter cross;

Tread in His steps, assisted by His grace,

Till man’s first heavenly state

again takes place.

Then may we hope, the angelic host among,

To sing. redeemed, a glad triumphal song:

He that was born upon this joyful day

Around us all His glory shall display

Saved by his love, incessant, we shall sing

Eternal praise to heaven’s Almighty King

May God Bless Nigeria, America And Israel And Take Care Of Us; May God Make His Face Shine Upon Us, And Be Gracious To Us; May The Lord Lift Up His Countenance Upon Us, And Give Us Peace, In Jesus Christ Name, We Pray! Amen!

While Shepherds watched their flocks by night

Psalms_23-1: The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want

Psalms_23-1: The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want

While Shepherds watched their flocks by night,

All seated on the ground,

The angel of the Lord came down,

And glory shone around

Fear not! said he; for mighty

dread

Had seized their troubled mind;

Glad tidings of great joy I bring

To you and all mankind.

To you, in David’s town, this day

Is born, of  David’s line,

A Saviour, who is Christ the Lord

And this shall be the sign;

The heavenly Babe you there

shall find

To human view displayed,

All meanly wrapped

In swadding bands

And in a manger laid

Thus spake the seraph: and forth-with

Appeared a shining throng

Of angels praising God, who thus

Addressed their joyful song.

All glory be to God on high

And to the earth be peace;

Good will henceforth

From heaven to men

Begin and never cease!

Amen!

Oh come, all ye faithful, Joyful and triumphant

Psalms_89-1-2: I will sing of the mercies of the LORD for ever: with my mouth will I make known thy faithfulness to all generations

Psalms_89-1-2: I will sing of the mercies of the LORD for ever: with my mouth will I make known thy faithfulness to all generations

Oh come, all ye faithful,

Joyful and triumphant,

To Bethlehem hasten now with

glad accord;

Lo! in a manger

Lies the King of angels;

Oh come, let us adore Him

Oh come, let us adore Him

Oh come, let us adore Him,

Christ the Lord!

Raise, Raise, choirs of angels

Songs of loudest triumph

Through heaven’s high arches

be your praises poured,

Now to our God be

Glory in the highest;

Amen! Lord, we bless Thee

Born for our Salvation,

O Jesus! for ever be

Thy name adored,

Word of the Father,

Now in flesh appearing.

Hosanna unto David’s Son

2-Timothy_2-19: Nevertheless the foundation of God standeth sure, having this seal, The Lord knoweth them that are his. And, Let every one that nameth the name of Christ depart from iniquity

2-Timothy_2-19: Nevertheless the foundation of God standeth sure, having this seal, The Lord knoweth them that are his. And, Let every one that nameth the name of Christ depart from iniquity

Hosanna unto David’s Son,

Hosanna, raise the strain,

For blessed is He that will come,

In the name of the Lord.

Hossana unto David’s Son

The angel host did sing

All creatures, join the loud refrain

Hosanna to our King.

Hosanna for the Hebrew throng

Spread palm fronds on the road

Hosanna we have brought our

gifts

For to prepare His way.

Both young and old sing hosanna

   Before His suffering comes

Today we all sing hosanna

As Jesus reigns above.

As Thou received the children’s praise

Accept the prayers we bring

And join the heavenly host to

sing.

Hosanna to our King.

Amen!

There’s not a friend like the lowly Jesus

Matthew_28-18-1: And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth

Matthew_28-18-1: And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth

There’s not a friend like the lowly Jesus,

No, not one! no, not one!

None else could heal all our soul’s diseases,

No, not one ! no, not one!

Jesus knows all about our struggles,

He will guide till the day is done;

There’s not a friend like the lowly Jesus

No, not one! No, not one!

 No friend like Him is so high and holy.

No, not one! No, not one!

And yet no friend is so meek and lowly

No, not one! No, not one!

There’s not an hour that He is not near us,

No, not one! no, not one!

No night so dark but His love can cheer us,

No, not one! no, not one!

Did ever saint find this Friend forsake him?

No, not one ! no, not one!

Or sinner find that He would not take him?

No, not one ! no, not one!

 Was ever a gift like the Saviour given?

No, not one ! no, not one!

Will He refuse us a home in heaven?

No, not one ! no, not one!

Amen!

Thou didst leave Thy throne, And Thy kingly crown

James_1-12-1: Blessed is the man that endureth temptation: for when he is tried, he shall receive the crown of life, which the Lord hath promised to them that love him

James_1-12-1: Blessed is the man that endureth temptation: for when he is tried, he shall receive the crown of life, which the Lord hath promised to them that love him

Thou didst leave Thy throne

And Thy kingly crown,

When Thou camest to earth for

me;

But in Bethlehem’s home

Was there found no room

For Thy holy nativity:

O come to my heart, Lord Jesus;

There is room in my heart for

Thee.

Heaven’s arches rang

When the angels sang,

Proclaiming Thy royal degree

But of lowly birth

Cam’st Thou, Lord, on earth.

And in great humility:

O come to my heart, Lord Jesus:

There is room in my heart for

Thee.

The foxes found rest.

And the birds their nest,

In the shade of the cedar tree;

But Thy couch was the sod,

O Thou Son of God

In the deserts of Galilee;

O come to my heart, Lord Jesus;

There is room in my heart for Thee.

Thou camest, O Lord,

With the living word

That should set Thy people free;

But with mocking scorn,

And with crown of thorn,

They bore Thee to Calvary:

O come to my heart, Lord

Jesus;

Thy cross is my only plea.

When heaven’s arches ring,

And her choirs shall sing,

At Thy coming to victory,

Let Thy voice call me home,

Saying, “Yet there is room,

There is room at My side for

thee!”

And my heart shall rejoice, Lord

Jesus,

When Thou comest and callest

for me.

Too often we keep this to ourselves when we should be telling others.

Romans_5-8: But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.

Romans_5-8: But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.

Romans 5:8

“But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”

NKJV

Ephesians_2-8: For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:

Ephesians_2-8: For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:

Ephesians 2:4-5

“But God, who is rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, even when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved),”

NKJV

Two of the most important words in the entire Bible are “But God.” You and I were dead in our sins and trespasses… but God. The world needs to hear these words… but God. When I see both local and world news, it becomes more and more evident that this world is a mess… but God.

1 Timothy 2:3-4 “For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior, who desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.” NKJV

We have to step out of our comfort zones and tell people one on one about Jesus. We have to get Bibles into the hands of those who don’t have them or who have never even seen one. We have to show the love of Jesus by bringing the Good News to those who have lost hope, to those who are living in the mess that has been made of this world. What mess have you made? God is in the business of fixing messes. God will break through the situation if you’ll allow Him. Maybe you know this. Too often we keep this to ourselves when we should be telling others.

Dear Lord,

Thank You for sending Your only Son to die for my sins. Please forgive me for times when I have selfishly kept the light of the Gospel to myself and please give me the courage and desire to tell others about the reason for my hope, which is Jesus. I pray this in Jesus’ name, Amen.

Amen!

Don’t be afraid to ask others for help

Matthew_7-6: Give not that which is holy unto the dogs, neither cast ye your pearls before swine, lest they trample them under their feet, and turn again and rend you

Matthew_7-6: Give not that which is holy unto the dogs, neither cast ye your pearls before swine, lest they trample them under their feet, and turn again and rend you

Which of you, if his son asks for bread, will give him a stone? Or if he asks for a fish, will give him a snake? If you, then though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in Heaven give good gifts to those who ask Him.Matthew 7:9-11

Are you reluctant to ask for help? You’re definitely not alone. Too many of us are unwilling to admit we need help. We think it’s a sign of weakness. But it’s really a sign of pride and self-sufficiency, both which go against the grain of a healthy dependence upon God and the power of His Holy Spirit in our lives.

God wants to give you good things. He’s hoping you’ll humbly admit that you have needs. Don’t be afraid to ask others for help.  Remember, God made us to relate to one another, to love one another. We weren’t made to live life alone. If you’re “the strong” one that is always lending a hand and seeing to it that others are taken care of, it’s hard for you to let someone know you need help, but it’s important that you do.

“Refusing to ask for help when you need it is refusing someone the chance to be helpful.” – Ric Ocasek

Love Of Christ

Psalms_25-2: O my God, I trust in thee: let me not be ashamed, let not mine enemies triumph over me

Psalms_25-2: O my God, I trust in thee: let me not be ashamed, let not mine enemies triumph over me

Psalms 25:15-22

I know the pain of loneliness. My childhood was spent in hospital wards. My adult life has been marked by periods of emotional isolation as well. However, the Lord has never abandoned me to these feelings.

God desires that all people feel connected to Him and to each other. And in fact, we can be quickly comforted when we respond wisely to loneliness.

The first step is to enter into a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. But simply believing He exists isn’t enough. The Lord created mankind for fellowship, which is why a relationship with Him gives people a sense of oneness. The love of Christ forces loneliness out of the lives of God’s children.

Second, we must admit that we’re lonely. Some Christians incorrectly think they shouldn’t be susceptible to normal human feelings. But nothing in the Bible says we won’t endure emotional isolation. Not only men like David and Paul but even the Lord Himself knew the ache of feeling deserted (Psalms 25:16; 2 Timothy 4:16; Matthew 26:40; Matthew 27:46).

Finally, we should develop godly friends. These are the Christian brothers and sisters who will laugh, cry, and empathize with us. Above all, believers need friends who will continually point them to God and pray over them.

We can’t deny feelings of loneliness, nor can we run from them. A person who seeks ways to escape such feelings only broadens the gap between the Lord and himself. There is just one way to close the chasm and conquer loneliness—by drawing near to the Lord.

Dear Lord God, I Pray That I Grow In My Trust In You

Psalms_34-8: O taste and see that the LORD is good: blessed is the man that trusteth in him.

Psalms_34-8: O taste and see that the LORD is good: blessed is the man that trusteth in him.

“O taste and see that the Lord [Our God] is good! Blessed (happy, fortunate, to be envied) is the man who trusts and takes refuge in Him.” Psalm 34:8 (AMP)

When David wrote this psalm, he had experienced a lot in his life. He not only successfully battled the lion and the bear as a young shepherd, he single-handedly defeated Goliath, and survived King Saul’s many attempts to take his life. All of this couldn’t have been done without him first developing a strong trust and reliance on God. These experiences were the basis for his belief that the person who trusts in and takes refuge in God will not only be blessed and their success will be desired by others as they receive God’s goodness.

In life you find yourself trusting in a lot of things. You trust that your employer is going to pay you at the end of your workweek. You trust the pilot of your flight that he has the ability to get you safely to your destination.  Yet, how often have you been in a situation where you failed to trust in God?

If you can exercise trust and confidence in man who is capable of failure, then how much more should you put trust in a God, who never fails? Trust in the Lord with your whole heart, when you do you will be blessed.

Prayer:

Lord God, I pray that I grow in my trust in you. Let me never allow my surrounding circumstances to cause me to waver in my trust. Today, I take refuge in You and You alone, knowing that there is no safer place for me to be. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

God still calls … has He called you?

Pastor E A Adeboye. Daddy G O

Pastor E A Adeboye. Daddy G O

Has God called you to ministry? Though all Christians are called to serve the cause of Christ, God calls certain persons to serve the church as pastors and other ministers. Writing to young Timothy, the Apostle Paul confirmed that if a man aspires to be a pastor, “it is a fine work he aspires to do” (1 Timothy 1:1, NASB).

Likewise, it is a high honor to be called of God into the ministry of the church. How do you know if God is calling you?

First, there is an inward call. Through His Spirit, God speaks to those persons He has called to serve as pastors and ministers of His church. The great Reformer Martin Luther described this inward call as “God’s voice heard by faith.” Those whom God has called know this call by a sense of leading, purpose, and growing commitment.

Charles Spurgeon identified the first sign of God’s call to the ministry as “an intense, all-absorbing desire for the work.” Those called by God sense a growing compulsion to preach and teach the Word, and to minister to the people of God.

This sense of compulsion should prompt the believer to consider whether God may be calling to the ministry. Has God gifted you with the fervent desire to preach? Has He equipped you with the gifts necessary for ministry? Do you love God’s Word and feel called to teach? As Spurgeon warned those who sought his counsel not to preach if they could help it. “But,” Spurgeon continued, “if he cannot help it, and he must preach or die, then he is the man.” That sense of urgent commission is one of the central marks of an authentic call.

Second, there is the external call. Baptists believe that God uses the congregation to “call out the called” to ministry. The congregation must evaluate and affirm the calling and gifts of the believer who feels called to the ministry. As a family of faith, the congregation should recognize and celebrate the gifts of ministry given to its members, and take responsibility to encourage those whom God has called to respond to that call with joy and submission.

These days, many persons think of careers rather than callings. The biblical challenge to “consider your call” should be extended from the call to salvation to the call to the ministry.

John Newton, famous for writing “Amazing Grace,” once remarked that “None but He who made the world can make a Minister of the Gospel.” Only God can call a true minister, and only He can grant the minister the gifts necessary for service. But the great promise of Scripture is that God does call ministers, and presents these servants as gifts to the church.

Consider your calling. Do you sense that God is calling you to ministry, whether as pastor or another servant of the church? Do you burn with a compulsion to proclaim the Word, share the Gospel, and care for God’s flock? Has this call been confirmed and encouraged by those Christians who know you best?

God still calls … has He called you?

Jeremiah_17-7-2: Blessed is the man that trusteth in the LORD, and whose hope the LORD is.

Romans 8:24

For we are saved by hope: but hope that is seen is not hope: for what a man seeth, why doth he yet hope for?

Gwen stopped by the dress shop every few days to look at the gown she had picked out. Though it was a couple of sizes smaller than she wore, she dreamed of the time she could fit into it. It was a perfect gown. She could visualize in her mind’s eye how stunning she would look in it. For the next month, Gwen stuck to a strict diet and made her dream a reality. She lost the two sizes and bought the dress she wanted so badly. We need our dreams, hopes, and plans to make it through our diets. Hope helps us strengthen our faith and makes our dreams come true.

Today’s thought: Hoping helps believing!

Mr and Mrs Timothy Terson got married March 6th, 2015 and died just two months later on May 6th in a fatal car accident along Mkar-Ameladu road, Gboko. Timothy died on the spot, while his wife, Erdoo died two days later on May 8th at Benue state University teaching hospital, Makurdi.

Like their deaths weren’t tragic enough, Timothy’s father, Mr. Tersen, also died in accident on his way to Gboko from Wannune, Tarka LGA after seeing his in-laws for the couple’s burial arrangements

Now the families will be burying three people. Sad! May your souls rest in peace, Amen!

Yesterday, today, for ever, Jesus is the same

Galatians_2-20: I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me

Galatians_2-20: I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me

Oh, how sweet the glorious message,

Simple faith may claim;

Yesterday, today, forever, Jesus is the same.

Still He loves to save the sinful,

Heal the sick and lame;

Cheer the mourner, still the tempest,

Glory to His name!

Yesterday, to- day. for ever,

Jesus is the same,

All may change, but Jesus never!

Glory to His name,

Glory to His name,

Glory to His name,

All may change, but Jesus never!

Glory to His name.

Him who pardoned erring Peter,

Never need’st thou fear;

He that came to faithless Thomas,

All thy doubt will clear.

He who let the loved disciple

On His bosom rest,

Bids thee still, with love as tender,

Lean upon His breast.

He who ‘mid the raging billows,

Walked upon the sea;

Still can hush our wildest tempest,

As on Galilee.

He who wept and prayed in anguish,

In Gethsemane,

Drinks with us each cup of

trembling,

In our agony.

As of old He walked to Emmaus,

With them to abide;

So thro’ all life’s way He walketh,

Ever near our side.

Soon again shall we behold Him,

Hasten, Lord, the day!

But ‘twill stilt be “this same Jesus,”

As He went away.

Jesus my Saviour to Bethlehem came, Born in a manger to sorrow and shame

Matthew_1-21: And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins

Matthew_1-21: And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins

Jesus my Saviour to Bethlehem came

Born in a manger to sorrow and shame;

Oh, it was wonderful – blest be His name!

Seeking for me, for me!

Seeking for me ! for me.. (2ce)

Oh, it was wonderful – blest to

His name!

Seeking for me, for me!

And Jesus said unto them, I am the bread of life: he that cometh to me shall never hunger; and he that believeth on me shall never thirst.

And Jesus said unto them, I am the bread of life: he that cometh to me shall never hunger; and he that believeth on me shall never thirst.

Jesus my Saviour, on Calvary’s

tree

Paid the great debt, and my soul

He set free,

Oh, it was wonderful – How

could it be?

Dying, for me, for me!

Dying, for me ! for me!.. (2ce)

Oh, it was wonderful – how

could it be?

Dying, for me!… for me!

Jesus my Saviour, the same as of

old,

While I was wandering afar from the fold,

Gently and long did He plead with my soul,

Calling for me, for me!

Calling for me!. for me !.. (2ce)

Gently and long did He plead with my soul,

Calling for me, for me!

Jesus my Saviour shall come from on high

Sweet is the promise as weary years fly;

Oh, shall see Him descending the shy,

Coming, for me, for me!

Coming for me!.. for me!. (2ce)

Oh, I shall see Him descending the sky,

Coming for me, for me!
