Bridle Your Tongue.

James 3: 1-11

Whoever would love life and desire to see good days ahead must keep his tongue from evil and his lips from deceitful speech. The tongue is a small part of the body but very powerful. It can build or destroy depending on how it is used. The tongue makes great boast. Apostle James likened the tongue to a fire, a world of evil among the parts of the body.

 

The tongue can corrupt a person. The Bible says it is a restless evil, full of deadly poison. No man can tame the tongue. Christians should pray like David; ‘Oh Lord! put a watch over my mouth.’ Family, love and relationship; work have been torn apart because of wreck less use of the tongue. Nations have been warring because of the boast of tongue. King Nebuchadnezzar was dethroned for 7 years because of this wrong use of it.

 

The word of God says; “But as many as received Him, to them gave He Power to become the Sons of God, even to them that believe on His name (Jn. 1:12).” Only Jesus can deal with or bridle your tongue. Have you received Him into your life? Deal with your tongue. Life and death are in the power of the tongue.

 

MEMORY VERSE:
Psalm 39:1 “I will watch my ways and keep my tongue from sin.”

 

PRAYER:
Help me Lord to know when to speak or be silent and let my utterances be graceful to your glory in Jesus’ name. Amen.
