| Our churches should be a place of ministry, not merely a place of gathering.For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do (Ephesians 2:10). Some people believe Christianity is self-service only, but we can’t just take in the gospel and not share it with others. God wants to empty us of ourselves so He can fill us with something new. Then we can give of what He has given us. This is accomplished through ministry, or as the Bible calls it, good works.
A good work is always done to benefit someone else so that God publicly gets the glory. Matthew 5:16 says: “Let your light shine before men in such a way that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father… |
