The History of The Redeemed Christian Church Of God 60th Anniversary

In July 1909, a son was born into the Akindayomi family of Ondo State of Nigeria. Even though this child grew up surrounded by idol worshippers, he knew there existed a greater power and yearned to know, “The God Who created the earth and everyone on it”. This pursuit for God led him to the Church Missionary Society where he was baptized in 1927. Still spiritually unfulfilled, he joined the Cherubim and Seraphim church in 1931.

Whilst there, he began to hear a voice within him saying, “You will be my servant.” Since this was not his intention, he decided to ignore the voice. This went on for seven years during which all the business ventures that he tried resulted into failure. In debt and without peace of mind, he found himself totally dependent on the grace of…

God’s Mercy Endures Forever

MATTHEW 12:20, “A bruised reed shall he not break, and a smoking flax shall he not quench, till he send forth judgement unto victory.”

MATTHEW 12:15-21, MARK 3:7-19, LUKE 6:12-16

One of the ways in which God‘s goodness is revealed is in mercy. We may describe mercy as the readiness of God to relieve the misery of fallen creatures. Many times, mercy is called compassion or loving kindness. It is expressed toward the sinner because of the misery that sin has brought upon him.

The “reed” referred to in this passage is probably speaking of the reeds that grew in the marshy areas in the land of Palestine. These were very fragile and could be easily bruised or broken. The term “smoking flax” refers to a linen wick which was made from flax and burned brightly when floating…

Let Us Therefore Come Boldly Unto The THrone Of Grace That We May Obtain Mercy, And Find Grace To Help In Time Of Need (Hebrews 4:16)

Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace that we may obtain mercy

Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need. (Hebrews 4:16)

How many times do you struggle with your own personal needs? How many times do you wrestle with trying to meet them on your own? How often do you waste energy trying to figure things out for yourself? You plan, set out a strategy and work to make ends meet.

Why do you do this when God tells you to come boldly to His throne? In other words, you should come with great confidence, filled with faith because God has prepared this throne of grace for you.

Prayer is an exchange of needs for grace and mercy. God tells you that they await you if you will simply…

I Am The Good Shepherd And I Know My Sheep

Prayer's avatarPrayer Haven

Palm Sunday

I am The Good Shepherd; and I know My sheep. —John 10:14

READ:John 10:7-18

People hate change, or so I hear. But the change we generally resist is the kind that we think will make our situation worse rather than better. We eagerly change jobs when it means higher pay and more influence. We happily move to a bigger house in a better neighbourhood. So it’s not change in general that we hate; it’s change that involves loss—sometimes physical; other times emotional or psychological.

Change is both inevitable and necessary. If everything stays the same, no one is growing. But we have a Shepherd who guides us through change and leads us to a better place. Getting there may be difficult, as it was for the Israelites in reaching the Promised Land. They grumbled when their situation got worse rather than better (Ex. 15:24…

Run To The Cross

READ:Hebrews 10:28-39

It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God. —Hebrews 10:31

Whenever a tsunami warning is given on the northern coastline of Maui, Hawaii, the people living in Hana rush up the side of a mountain to a high place of safety. Nearby is a tall wooden cross that was placed there many years ago by missionaries. For their physical safety, people run to the area where the cross is located.

In a similar way, all of us need a place of spiritual safety. Why? Because the Lord gives us these warnings in His Word: “All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God” and “the wages of sin is death” (Rom. 3:23; 6:23). Hebrews 9:27 states: “It is appointed for men to die once, but after this the judgment.” We…

Give us this day our daily bread (Matthew 6:11)

Today! I want to encourage you to remember who it is who meets all of your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.

It is your Heavenly Father!

He who did not withhold His Son for you, but gave Him up as a sacrifice for you, certainly He will withhold no good thing from you on this day.

The gift of salvation reveals how willing God is to do us good. It shows us His kind intention toward us. It gives us a glimpse of His great love, His wonderful grace, and His everlasting mercy. Provision has been made for you, but it requires the prayer of faith to receive it. You must pray for salvation before it ever becomes real in your life. In the same way you must pray for every need…

I will . . . boast in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me. —2 Corinthians 12:9

When Tarah was in high school, she had a growing fear that she would someday battle a serious illness. So she began to pray—asking God to spare her from this imagined illness. Then she reached a turning point in her thinking, and she yielded her future to God no matter what.

Years later, Tarah’s doctor found a cancerous tumor, which was successfully treated with chemotherapy. Tarah says that because she had entrusted her future to God, she was ready when the disease came. Her problem became an avenue for God’s strength.

Forgiveness is a choice not a feeling.

Matthew 6:14 “For if you forgive men their trespasses, Your Heavenly Father will also forgive you.”
Forgiving someone is giving it to God, refusing to try and vindicate yourself. Forgiveness takes time, and it’s a choice that needs to be made, it is not a feeling! Choose to forgive, lay it down and surrender that hurt and anger to God. Allow Him to heal your broken heart and don’t allow un-forgiveness to keep you from what God has for you.

May the LORD bless Nigeria, American and Israel and take care of us; May the LORD make His face shine upon us, And be gracious to us; May the Lord lift up His countenance upon us, And give us peace, In Jesus Christ Name, we pray! Amen!

God‘s Gracious Invitation

Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice,
and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and
he with me. To him that overcometh will I grant to sit with me in my
throne, even as I also overcame, and am set down with my Father in
his throne

Revelation 3:20-21
I have heard verse 20 preached as an altar call for the sinner, but
when you see the context, you realize it has nothing to do with the
sinner, even though millions have been saved with this invitation. The
Lord is standing outside the lukewarm church Laodicea and saying, “You

Be Holy For I Am Holy

Holiness Is Not an Option

But just as He who called you is holy, so be holy in all you do; or it is written: “Be holy, because I am holy.”
Peter 1:15-16
Holiness is sanctification and separation unto God-which is what we are called to as believers.
Preachers of old like John Wesley knew that holiness was a command and not an option. They lived their lives in humble dedication to God. They served God, worked tirelessly, studied God’s Word diligently and prayed without ceasing. Psalms 65:4 says, “Blessed are those you choose and bring near to live in your courts! We are filled with the good things of your house, of your holy temple.”
Today many of the “successful” churches thrive on flowery sermons designed to appeal to intellectualism or…

LUKE 6:17-49

This verse reveals one of God‘s cardinal laws that will work in the spiritual realm, as well as the physical world. Just as we “give” seed into the ground to receive back multiple seeds, so it is with everything we give. Whether it’s money, possessions, an emotion such as love or hate, prayers, or our time, we will reap a harvest of whatever we give. We reap exactly…

Never Give Up Attitude

Never give up attitude

Dear Friend,

There has never been a greater opportunity for the church of Jesus Christ to shine with the glory of the Lord. However, we must make certain we develop a “never give
up” attitude. Proverbs 24:16 “for though a righteous man falls seven times, he rises
again…”

In every circumstance of life there are choices to be made. You must decide what
you will do in times of crisis, when you make a mistake, or when you experience
failure. It’s not about falling, it’s about rising again. Your enemy is intimidated
by your tenacity to never quit and to never give up.

So today I boldly decree your attitude is right, your faith is focused, and you
are expressing the reality that satan cannot win if I don’t quit. Hallelujah!

May the LORD bless Nigeria, American and Israel and take care of us…

Stray Temptation

“Lay hands suddenly on no man, neither be partaker of other men’s sins: keep thyself pure”. 1 Timothy 5:22

It will shock you to know that it is easier to manage lack and hardship than to manage abundance and pleasure. If you live in single room in a “face-me-I-face-you” building (Buildings with multiple tenants of low-income class), it is easier for you to wake up and pray even at night than when you live in an expensively furnished bedroom with water bed in a mansion overseeing the sea. When you want to get up to pray in such a house, the comfort of the bed will motivate you to sleep some more. Before you know it, it will be dawn. Let us take the case of David as an example (2 Samuel 11:1;12:14). While David was being chased from cave to cave…

God is All Powerful

“He alone is my refuge, my place of safety; He is my God, I am trusting Him.” (Psalm 9:12).

Looking back at historical events, we can see how God protected people in the past. When Napoleon’s massive French army was preparing to attack Feldkirch, a little town on the Austrian border, the citizens didn’t know what to do. When they spotted soldiers on the heights above the little town, a council of citizens was hastily summoned to decide whether the townspeople should try to defend themselves or display the white flag of surrender.
That fateful day happened to be Easter Sunday, so the townspeople gathered in the local church, as was their custom. The pastor rose and said, “Friends, we have been counting on our own strength, and apparently that has…

Those members of the body which seem to be weaker are necessary. —1 Corinthians 12:22

The number of people who run a business out of their homes is in the millions. But some have found that working alone can be a little too lonely. To give these lonely ones a community, “co-working” spaces have been designed. Large facilities are rented out where people working by themselves can share space with others. They have their own work area but can exchange ideas with fellow independent workers. It’s for those who feel they can work better together than they do alone.

Sometimes Christians think they work better alone. But we are meant to work together with others in the church. Every Christian has been placed into “The Body Of Christ” (1…

Engraved in God’s Heart

The finger of God is an agent of creation and a mark of God’s authority. They were also used in writing His laws. Deuteronomy 9:9-11 says God wrote the Ten Commandments with His finger on tablets of stone. Every author writes a book or put words and sentences together in order to convey certain ideas or opinions for others to read. The fact that God wrote the Ten Commandments with His own fingers established the fact that He and not Moses is the Author. God not only writes on stones, He writes on men. After Cain killed his brother Abel and God judged him, he requested for a reduction in the punishment, being scared that anyone who sights him might kill him. As a result, God wrote on him – He put a mark of “Untouchable” on him so that anyone who saw him from…

Because of Who God Is

Proverbs 30:4-5: “Who has mastered heavenly knowledge? Who has ever caught the wind in His hand? Or wrapped up water in a piece of cloth? Or fixed the boundaries of the earth? Who is He, if you know? Who is His son? God keeps every promise He makes. He is like a shield for all who seek His protection”
An average believer makes a casual commitment to God and
serves Him only because of what He can do for them. Let us never
forget WHO HE IS! He is THEMIGHTY GOD and deserves reverence and
full devotion. It’s time to make the adjustments and serve Him
because of Who He is.

Years ago, when I was a student at the University of California at Berkeley, I developed a friendship with a fellow student who had suffered a terrible loss. His child had died and his wife had left him because she couldn’t deal with the pain.

One day, as my friend and I were walking down the street, we found ourselves behind a dishevelled mother with a grubby little boy in hand. She was angry at the child and was walking much too fast, towing him at a pace his little legs couldn’t maintain.

We reached a busy intersection where the child abruptly stopped and…
