In July 1909, a son was born into the Akindayomi family of Ondo State of Nigeria. Even though this child grew up surrounded by idol worshippers, he knew there existed a greater power and yearned to know, “The God Who created the earth and everyone on it”. This pursuit for God led him to the Church Missionary Society where he was baptized in 1927. Still spiritually unfulfilled, he joined the Cherubim and Seraphim church in 1931.

Whilst there, he began to hear a voice within him saying, “You will be my servant.” Since this was not his intention, he decided to ignore the voice. One of the ways in which God‘s goodness is revealed is in mercy. We may describe mercy as the readiness of God to relieve the misery of fallen creatures. Many times, mercy is called compassion or loving kindness. It is expressed toward the sinner because of the misery that sin has brought upon him.

The “reed” referred to in this passage is probably speaking of the reeds that grew in the marshy areas in the land of Palestine. These were very fragile and could be easily bruised or broken. The term “smoking flax” refers to a linen wick which was made from flax and burned brightly when floating…

People hate change, or so I hear. But the change we generally resist is the kind that we think will make our situation worse rather than better. We eagerly change jobs when it means higher pay and more influence. We happily move to a bigger house in a better neighbourhood. So it’s not change in general that we hate; it’s change that involves loss—sometimes physical; other times emotional or psychological.

Whenever a tsunami warning is given on the northern coastline of Maui, Hawaii, the people living in Hana rush up the side of a mountain to a high place of safety. Nearby is a tall wooden cross that was placed there many years ago by missionaries. For their physical safety, people run to the area where the cross is located.

In a similar way, all of us need a place of spiritual safety. Why? Because the Lord gives us these warnings in His Word: “All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God” and “the wages of sin is death” (Rom. 3:23; 6:23). When Tarah was in high school, she had a growing fear that she would someday battle a serious illness. So she began to pray—asking God to spare her from this imagined illness. Then she reached a turning point in her thinking, and she yielded her future to God no matter what.

Forgiveness is a choice not a feeling.

Matthew 6:14 “For if you forgive men their trespasses, Your Heavenly Father will also forgive you.”
Forgiving someone is giving it to God, refusing to try and vindicate yourself. Forgiveness takes time, and it’s a choice that needs to be made, it is not a feeling! Choose to forgive, lay it down and surrender that hurt and anger to God. Allow Him to heal your broken heart and don’t allow un-forgiveness to keep you from what God has for you.

Never give up attitude

Dear Friend,

There has never been a greater opportunity for the church of Jesus Christ to shine with the glory of the Lord. However, we must make certain we develop a “never give
up” attitude. Proverbs 24:16 “for though a righteous man falls seven times, he rises
again…”

In every circumstance of life there are choices to be made. You must decide what
you will do in times of crisis, when you make a mistake, or when you experience
failure. It’s not about falling, it’s about rising again. Your enemy is intimidated
by your tenacity to never quit and to never give up.

So today I boldly decree your attitude is right, your faith is focused, and you
are expressing the reality that satan cannot win if I don’t quit. Hallelujah!

It will shock you to know that it is easier to manage lack and hardship than to manage abundance and pleasure. If you live in single room in a “face-me-I-face-you” building (Buildings with multiple tenants of low-income class), it is easier for you to wake up and pray even at night than when you live in an expensively furnished bedroom with water bed in a mansion overseeing the sea. When you want to get up to pray in such a house, the comfort of the bed will motivate you to sleep some more. Before you know it, it will be dawn. The finger of God is an agent of creation and a mark of God’s authority. They were also used in writing His laws. Deuteronomy 9:9-11 says God wrote the Ten Commandments with His finger on tablets of stone. Every author writes a book or put words and sentences together in order to convey certain ideas or opinions for others to read. The fact that God wrote the Ten Commandments with His own fingers established the fact that He and not Moses is the Author. God not only writes on stones, He writes on men. Proverbs 30:4-5: “Who has mastered heavenly knowledge? Who has ever caught the wind in His hand? Or wrapped up water in a piece of cloth? Or fixed the boundaries of the earth? Who is He, if you know? Who is His son? God keeps every promise He makes. He is like a shield for all who seek His protection”
An average believer makes a casual commitment to God and
serves Him only because of what He can do for them. Let us never
